Hi
This might not be the correct place to ask this question, but since I do have a Diamon I ask it here.
Does anyone know to change "My Text" for sms in registry or is it stored in a file?
I have searched registry, but do not find it. (It might be stored in hex????)
I know you can change it from within sms, but it seems to revert back to the original text (default) from time to time (without me hard-reset the device).
The same (reseting) seemed to happen with signature, but I found that in HKLM\Software\HTC\Signature (where you can set your signature). Then it does not revert
Thanks,
Dolfren

Problem resolved after i revert back to threaded
Which registry key are you changing? There is one that will remove the tone and another that doesn't but I can't immediately recall it. Have another search on here and I'm sure you'll find it unless someone can post it quickly here for you?
I know this can be changed, and to my embarrisment I cannot find it on here anymore on how to do this. Could anyone please tell me the reg value I need to change to not have my TD show surnames first (who tought up this idiot setting to begin with?).
you can change it, go into contacts, edit and change it in "file as"

funny enough, that doesn't really matter. At least not with the built in BT carkit in my C4 picasso. It will still show firstname/surname.
If there is indeed a registry key to change this, I would like to know. Perhaps that DOES give the result I am hoping for.
how i writr my contacts is as follows ( works in outlook contacts aswell ) where you have to put first ,name ,middle ,last, etc just write the full name in the first name column e.g you would write the name John Smith ,with john in the first column and smith in the last colume ,but just write john smith in the first column and it should be ok .hope you understand.
This is a way of entering/adding NEW contacts to the phone. As I understood, sjaak1234 wants to change this display mode for the contacts already in the phone. Manually editting of each contact is not a good way to follow...say you have 400 contacts...edit each one of them? Gee...I event don't wanna think about it.
An easier way (as I did it in the past since I couldn't find another way) is to export your contacts from Outlook into Excel, than concatenate the two text strings "First Name" and "Last Name" into one single text string (under "First Name" for ex) and import back the file in Outlook. Then, by syncing you should get the adress book properly sorted and displayed. It should take no more than 10 min.
That's in Outlook But that setting does not exist on my phone

If you want your Contacts to be displayed as First name then Last name, use this cab else this one for the reverse.

Carty..
That's great,
thanks a lot

Um,
it is great but.... what do I do? I installed it and nothing has changed in my Contacts. What am I missing?
Patrick
edit: found it, I have to tap on a contact in the contact list and select first-last and do that with every contact. I get it

Thats a standard feature, you don't need to install anything to get that.
In that case I realy don't understand what installing the cab has added

I've used fixunreadcount.cab, tried turning off threaded messages and deleting from there, but nothing works! It says I have 1 unread SMS, when NOTHING IS IN ANY OF THEM. I am NOT going to hard reset, i put too much into this phone
might it be an MMS waiting to be downloaded?
Hey,
if you have a registry editor on your device, please check the following registry key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\sms\Unread]
You should find under it the following entry: "Count"
Try to set its value to dword:00000000 - afterwards exit the reg editor, open shortly another program to give the device time to correctly store the value, then soft reset your device.

I randomly have to fix this myself.. Sometimes I'll get a text message and it'll beep multiple times, as if I have multiple SMS, but when I read 'em I only find one, but the unread count is 2, so once I read it, it's still 1. Then I have to go in and edit that registry key.
Very annoying. I wonder if anyone has made a simple program that 0's out all of those unread keys to make 'fixing' this simple?
It is just not worth the effort to write a tiny little program for it.
Simply export your REGISTRY KEY once it is set to "0", then import it whenever it is needed ...
maybe U guys can look here...
was having the same problem...

Hello all
I have been messing around with my PHM reg editor a lot and i figured how to change the name that is displayed on the "account picker" to what you see below. My question now is how do i do the same for the "mms" name??? i found the friendly name for sms but i cant seem to find it for the mms can some one please point me in the right direction? and as always no flaming lol and thank you in advance.
P.S. Also i have not found a comprehensive write up on all the registry tweaking you can do on the Kaiser, and yes i have searched but all i have been able to do is from my late night digging in the registry and i would like some help lol. And the [fAmOuS] is from my cs and cod4 name lol
**Update**
You where right i will include a pic for any one else that wants to do the same thing. just copy the friendly name from the sms folder to the mms1 folder.

haven't tried it, but what if you just add the key in the location you expect to find it? Like the same location it is located for SMS just in the SMS folder.

Do you mean like add a folder named mms? or do you mean add the name in to the arcsoft mms folder?
i knwow this might be stupid and yes i did search but how can i display my contacts by first name instead of last?
Only way I have found is either buy Contact Changer for $.99 to do entire list or you can change one at a time, in each contact go to edit\file as....
ok thanks anyway
I have a package from the Raphael Kitchen that I used to cook into my ROMs but when I added the reg key and DLL, it didn't work.
Also noticed that when I changed multiple contacts to display F/L some of the changes didn't save or reverted back to L\F!
Weird!
There is an option to file the contacts as First, Last or Last, First.
It is somewhere in the contact options or the contact list options.
You can change it when you edit the contacts
hi, what i do is that i just leave the first name field empty, and instead put the whole name in the last name field with the first name first
Has anybody noticed that the file as option has gone in the latest offical ROM. I was trying to change a contact testerday and could not get this option even within the Microsoft Contact manager Edit screen.
Edit: Found it, must be going mad!
