POLICE took my Diamond - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi everyone
Yesterday police came to my home and took my precious Diamond, telling me that it was stolen. They had the IMEI number which matched mine.
I bought it 2 months ago from Craigs list without box. Guy told me he brought it from HongKong and left the box. I really wanted it so did not care and paid $500. Have learnt a good lesson, " Try not to buy anything expensive without the box, from Ebay or Craiglist. If you really have to then make sure it is not traceable i.e IMEI number."
So that brings another conclusion that even after flashing around 30 times, IMEI number remains the same. I guess it is embeded in the phone.
Now shopping for another Diamond ( from a store ) .
Be aware guys and Gals.

Or the guy reports its stolen, AFTER selling it to you.
I think this is a common scam.
Best advice, is to make sure you get a reciept for your buy.
Sorry mate, hope you'll get a new piece.

The IMEI is unique and linked to that phone. You'd be glad you didn't change it after reading this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276851

Ya , best advice is to keep the box, receipt for a few months at least. Because police ound this one after 2 months. And if buying rom an individual, get a peper signed from him with his phone number, DL number and current address.

huh :s
craigs list sucks

exactly.....he sells it to you and get's $500....he then reports it stolen and gets $500 from teh insurance company. who then notify the police who trace it to you....you get nothing..he gets $1000.
you need to wise up my friend
of course you have contact details of the guy you bought it from don't you?? take these to the police and ask them to look into it.

I know my friend, I am learning every day. I have given all the info to police. I do not think this guy sold it and then reported it to police. Because cops told me that there was a violent robbery at a store.
Well still looking for a new diamond , with a receipt this time

Wizard Stolen=[

My 8125 got stolen today. I set it down in the little boxes u put ur keys and phones in while you workout. When i was done I found myself with no phone. Kind of sucks, dont have enough money to buy another smartphone, ill try nad check out ebay to see how cheap they can get.
sorry to hear mate, some people are scumbags! cant get something nice of their own so they steal it....
check ebay - some xda mini S' s (o2 uk wizards) go for £80?
so keep an eye and depending if you are willing to pay postage check out other international ebays.

personally i dont trust people who put other phone names to boost interest because it shows they are desperate to sell..
but still as an example
hey thanks, i actually just bought one for $85 new from guy on Craigslist.com.

I hope that was a face-to-face sale, or else I wouldn't be suprised if you just lost $85 in addition to your stolen Wizard. Craigslist is notorious for mail scams and a lot riskier than ebay for mail items.

3 Times Over
My phone got stolen 3 times last year (mugged each time). First was a Motorolla MPx200 (2am on the streets, stupid stupid stupid). Second was iMate SP5 (midday, but in the dodgiest part of town) and third was my iMate JAM (once again, midday, but relatively safe area). Cops caught up with the JAM pretty easily - it was probably the only JAM with WM5 in South Africa . It was already blacklisted though: oh well.
The first two devices were free (my boet works at M$ so he has regular throwaways) and the last only cost me R(rand) 1500 from a chap at work. My new K-JAM was a bit more expensive, but very well worth it!!! Got TNT running on it, and I'm kinda grateful that the first 3 devices got stolen - I am so happy with the K-JAM.
South Africa, the country of crime. Bout time I wrote a client to track the device and bake it in a ROM. I wonder what APIs google maps mobile uses to find out what tower you are at: would be a kicker tool and much more complicated than the average mugger can circumvent.

Best Place To Buy A Touch Diamond

Hi,
This is my first post here, but the site is great and I've been coming back here for about 2 weeks while trying to decide if I should buy a diamond and I have to say the people, reviews and discussions have certainly swayed my choice into getting one. It was touch and go (pardon the pun) for a while after some initial bad reviews, but since the ROM update it seems everybody is a lot happier! I know it will take a bit of tweaking, but I'm a S/W engineer, so its nothing I'm afraid of, but it will be my first WM device, so I'm a little scared...
I nearly opted for the iPhone, but its a brick, if not a pretty cool device, but I want something that I can put in my pocket and use as a normal phone... I have an iPod for music and videos, a phone is a phone (but the GPS rocks)
Anyway, I digress, I do have only 2 questions and the first one is pretty redundant from reading this forum, but here goes:
I saw a Touch Diamond for sale on eBay and the guy selling it said that he was selling it because he was disappointed because when he came to use the GPS it was a lie and that he needed an extra component and had to carry something else around? Whats all this about. I did freak a little when I read in all the spec sheets that it was GPS "READY"... what does READY mean? I assume it comes with it all from reading the reviews.
Second question, since my mind is pretty made up and I will be getting one, where is the best place to buy one (for the UK, and UK spec) I'm not looking for cheapness, as i know they are knew and average is around £450ish (inc VAT and Delivery) but dunno where to get one from (Not eBay anyway) any advice on the best online shop, or if anybody knows of any shops that sell them (in Manchester) that would be great.
Thanks for any help in advance!
DG
Plenty of places in the UK to buy them from, if you had done a search you would have found a thread that listed all the places in UK that are selling them and they are uk spec.
But for you ill name a few:
www.expansys.com now have the official uk spec Diamonds
www.clove.co.uk
www.play.com
www.totalpda.co.uk
www.powerupmobile.com
www.htcdirect.co.uk
those are your best bets...think Expansys is based in Manchester but dont know if they allow you to go there and pick up the phone...best to ring them i suppose.
I would recommend Play.com. Never had any problems with them and at the moment it's only £399.99 with free delivery. Others sell it for about £435 or £440.
Yeah, sorry, should have done a search, but battery was dying on the laptop and no plug in sight!
Anyway, thanks for the links guys. I did heard that expansys were selling non official versions and thats one reason I asked, I have used them before but for nothing really as expensive as this.
Thats really cheap for Play, I may used them since I have an account with them...somewhere!
Now I will have the agonising wait and ensuing dissapointment that when I wake up the postman hasn't brought it its going to be a LONG week!

The general consensus is that this is only if you're a business customer buying an additional handset for your account.
Surely if most places are selling it for £400+ Vodafone won't be giving them away with no contract?!
I saw the eBay one with the guy saying no GPS too - and got a bit worried about my pre order one. I actually emailed him and asked about it. He replied saying it was GPS Ready, but needed additional hardware. After a bit of research I emailed him back again saying I was sure it definately had it built in - within another day the auction had closed early!
Whether he'd done a quick sale, or realised his error - who knows?!
Play is the best price - unless you can get a bargain on eBay. Watch out for 'Next Day' sellers whos small print says a week+ unless you pay extra postage!
WARNING!!! if you buy from play.com in the UK, you'll have to pay VAT tax as the unit will probably be held up in customs.. reason being, Play.com ships from a tax free zone.
It's clearly stated in their terms & conditions that the customer is responsible for taxes. Read the fine print!!
2ndly, I called HTC UK the other day and they told me play.com isn't an authorised dealer so you won't get full UK warranty. I'm serious.. a girl at HTC told me...
If it is a USA order
If you are in the US, then the best place to buy the phone is from Ryan at Negri Electronics. I had a problem with the first two phones (the first was a power issue, the second was wifi). I emailed them in the morning, and by the afternoon I had a UPS overnight tracking order. They included return labels, and it was no questions asked. I have bought all my luxry phones starting back at the Nokia 8800 and up til now (yes I have a addiction for cell phones). NEVER HAD A SINGLE ISSUE! The Diamond also registered on the HTC site. The phone is shrink wrapped in the retail package (he has a network, and actually travels to get the product on or before release that are not grey's). Price my be higher or lower but not by much. I trully think its worth it, because you don't have to wonder about what your are getting or when. They ship the next business day (I gotta give them credit on their speed and customer service. The answer emails right away, and phone calls are 99% answered, and messages are returned immediately.
Heres the direct link: DIAMOND- http://www.negrielectronics.com/touch-diamond-unlocked-p-1506.html
DIAMOND PRO: http://www.negrielectronics.com/htc-touch-pro-p-1530.html
Desktop CRADLE: http://www.negrielectronics.com/touch-diamond-desktop-cradle-g300-p-1526.html
Mine is perfect. They really have their business together.
PS: This is not an advertisement, this is my honest opinion. I have made purchase from expansys (paid for overnight, got it a week later).
Do we know when UK networks are gonna start selling these on contracts?
Im assuming all of them are branding this phone?

Tmobile will be doing them from end of the month from what i have heard..as for voda, orange and o2 they will be carrying it but dont really know when...possibly July??.
As for branding??..yep you can be 110% sure that they will be all branded to some extent. As usual Tmobile will make sure its locked to their network and probably Orange. Voda and o2 will probably sell it unlocked but with their branding on it.

Really??? hmm... call HTC and ask them I guess...
Mine shows up as 1 year as well... but with the following message:
Note: Your POP (Proof of Purchase) determines your warranty period. If you cannot provide your POP, your product will be warranted within the above period.
any ideas?? am I still entitled to 2 years warranty??

Issues with fastcardtech

Hi to all,
I want to share with you what appened last month with fastcardtech site... I already bought a zopo zp100 and I was really satisfy about service so I decide to bought a new one but white.
Reading internet site I saw that two models are available but I was interested only in the completely white one so I ask availability at support center of fastcardtech that confirm by mail the availability.
After two day I release the payment and in a week the phone was shipped.
Where is the problem? The phone received was the other one.
After 1 month they could give me a 3% discount (6USD due to account limitation) on next order that I'll never do cause It's not sure what they will ship.
I didn't report all the mail between us where they wanted to refund (6USD) and after 2 weeks no paiment was released so I asked and they wrote back to call support center...
I'm writing this post cause the site is really cheapest but pay attention cause if there is a problem you'll not have support... In some case you feel victim of a joke...
Bye.
P.S. attacched the chat transcript for all the detail
Sorry for what happened
i faced the same problem they listed a phone with high specification at a high price yet it was just specifications hacked in kernel the phone was not of quality as it was priced i bought it at USD 295 yet other phones of exact spec without hacking kernels were at USD 165 so if you are buying online its better you buy from sites with payments protections like escrow of aliexpress as the product i bought there was real coz it had to wait for my confirmation the payments to be made which force the sellers to be sure of what they are doing.
In fact the item was shipped with very low prices i never requested for which led me to be over taxed as the tax authority had to do it by themselves.

i have read and others have complains for same problems (just google it )
i was about to buy from them but it think i will consider it twice
the posthumous fame[/B] should be re-considered by all Internet Shops
I don't know what to tell everyone, but I ordered from them and didn't have any problem other than I paid $2.99 for them to root the phone which was never done nor refunded.
I used EMS shipping and had my phone within a week; the tracking was a bit wack, but I figured it out and it even worked.
Everything works great on the phone and came as promised. I can't comment on customer service other than they never responded about a refund for the $2.99.
Would I order from them again? Maybe, but you might have to cross your fingers and hope you're lucky but my experience was acceptable.

Here's one I busted on aPad.tv.com forum; regarding Hyundai T7 Exynos 4 quad-core processor Tablet PC:
me: I ordered 1 a week ago. It was supposed to have been in stock, but when I checked on the status it was still unshipped. I was beginning to wonder if the T7 even existed; so what aPadTVadmin said about them being in stock, makes since now. I guess most of these online stores get all their stuff drop-shipped, am I assuming correct?
aPadTVadmin: I spoke to DP a couple of days ago regarding the T7 for another reason and all T7 units have been shipped out. This was Thursday. If you ordered 1 week ago it would have shipped out nearly same day. I witnessed with my own eyes a large stock of T7 Hyundais being processed for shipping out last time I visited there.
Please give me your order number so I can validate it and check with them for you.
me: BUNCH OF SCAM ARTISTS! I contacted the manufacturer today and found out that they don't even start shipping them until March 7th, 2013. SO THERE'S NO WAY THAT ANYONE EVEN HAS T7'S YET, EXCEPT FOR A FEW ENGINEERING SAMPLES THAT WENT OUT. SO MUCH FOR SEEING THEM WITH YOUR OWN EYES... MORE LIKE LYING OUT OF YOUR OWN MOUTH.

this guy who wrote this is also part of the scam; he want's you think that the company actually ships a good product, while the truth is, what you'll get is an imitation of the product you order, if at all that; these guys are all in cahoots, and they're on every forum & youtube video out there. They are good at what they do & once they ship the inferior product, if you return it, you lost all your money, point blank.
aliexpress.com is the best site to buy tablets/phones from china. they have buyer protection, and the money isn't released from your account till you confirm the device is received and working.
Scam
I ran into the FCT trap too. Should have done some more research beforehand .
I ordered an HDC Note 3 clone from them and paid through Paypal. They provided a Singapore shipping number and the next day told me the phone is out of stock and was not shipped. Meaning a fake shipping number was provided. The same time the same phone is still listed on their website as "in stock" and questions of potential customers are answered.
They told me to choose an alternative phone which I did with another HDC N9002. 35$ more expensive which difference I paid. They did not ship, after a number of reminders they however provided again the same (!) fake shipping number as before. So the item was never ever intended to be shipped. They play for time and money to get over the 45 days to launch a Paypal dispute. So be careful.
Currently a dispute for full refund is ongoing.
Stay away from these scammers!
SCAM artists
I'm also getting countless fake shipping numbers regarding broken tablet that I actually received from them.
Beware of FCT!
They are always delaying with shipping (some items they never ship). Their policy is to provide a bit lower prices than the others at first sight and then add extra fees for nothing and eventually ship the item you ordered when it is already outdated.
Fake shipping numbers are their method of delay.
FCT
I recently ordered from FCT and of course before reading all the forums of countless individuals who have been scammed or dooped by these guys.
Anyway after 2 weeks from placing my order I received a tracking number followed by another tracking number 2 days later (weird), then a week later it was scanned into the U.S, 2 or so more days it actually arrived at my door!!! (bing bong)
I was pretty stoked however, once I opened my package (HDC GT N9000 Note3) one thing was missing ...No stylus!! so after numerous calls to these guys via Skype (preferred and only method to contact them) I finally speak to a man who tells me that if I buy another phone they would include the stylus plus a gift free of charge....wait the phone was advertised to include this?? blah blah something shipping he began to ramble on about.... all n all pointless
I'm now a month into having my phone which appears to be pretty effin exact to the Note3 however yesterday my phone just disconnected from my network and will not re-connect. I cannot reach a soul at this place leaving me with a fancy mini internet tab/paperweight/possibly shooting target..
Basically they were great until I gave them my money and the phone is awesome however customer service is a huge key to running any successful business and this is something they LACK.....
GOOD LUCK!

Buying off craigslist? What else should I do?

So, theres a guy on craigslist who was selling his Note 3 in box for $400, and I offered $325. Now, what I had planned to do was to meet in public, most likely at the AT&T store, pop in my sim, and check to make sure its working. Also, I was going to check the imei number, and make up a bill of sale with the imei included. Anything else I can do?
And if the phone is linked to their contract, and they end up not paying, that will blacklist the phone correct? Will a bill of sale protect me?

Well, I think I scared him off anyway. I requested pictures, the imei number, receipt of purchase, and that he was going to have to sign a bill of sale. He said ok, and hasn't replied in two hours. Oh well, I need to save money for a trip anyway, I'm just tired of looking at my LG Optimus G Pro. I want to upgrade, as stupid as it sounds.
Nothing will protect you against blacklisting of IMEI numbers. It's only going to get worse on Craigslist with programs like AT&T Next. Even if it's not blacklisted today it might be in 2 months when the not paid phone hits collections.

You did the right thing..who cares if you think you scared a thief away...You protected yourself from scumbags that rip good people off..spending that kind of money and getting blacklisted isn't worth all the hassle.....If you find a honest seller he/she won't hesitate at all for a bill of sale...

Nothing will protect you against blacklisting of IMEI numbers. It's only going to get worse on Craigslist with programs like AT&T Next. Even if it's not blacklisted today it might be in 2 months when the not paid phone hits collections.

True..but as long as he had a proper "bill of sale" least he has some evidence of a crooked seller, and have more options then nothing at all.....But your exactly right though, and it will get worse with more carriers offering upgrades sooner.
I've sold many phones on ebay and craigslist and also purchased quite a few. I never had any problems doing so. Just use common sense, see what the person is like, never go alone when meeting someone. And obviously make sure it's not blacklisted. A person who was a serious seller would do whatever needed to make the sale, however it is best to explain why you want the information you're asking for. Otherwise they'll think you're just being annoying lol
This thread is about a guy that bought an N3 off Craigslist, and the seller blacklisted it a few hours after the sale (insurance fraud). You may want to make sure the seller transfers ownership to you with AT&T.

Help with blacklisted T-mobile SM-N910T3

Hello friend and family,
I purchase a brand new inbox T-mobile Note 4 (SM-N910T3) through a friend of mine. I was eating with my best friend at ihop in TX, and he saw his old female friend. After some times, she said she got a brand new phone as a gift, n she would like to sell it for $500, my friend wanted it, but he had note 3 already. I saw the box, sealed, and I threw in my offer. She accepted $400 cash. I took her to the atm, paid her. I got home, unpacked my new phone, inserted my sim card, it keeps showing Not registered on network. I did a few search online, I saw that the imei has been blocked on tmobile. I am so devastated even as at now. Please can anyone here help me on how to get my imei removed from blacklisted.
I and my friend notified her, after first communication, she could no longer be reached.
Please I will appreciate any advice. I use Lyca Mobile (T-mobile Affiliated network
)
It's a shame that you're not in the Atlanta Georgia area, A, I've got a brand new condition t-mobile paid in full and can be verified by T Mobile cuz I'm using a prepaid sim card in it right now for sale, email me [email protected]

Your story doesn't add up
However the only way to get it fixed is to have the imei cleaned. These matters can no longer be discussed here.
No I understand you're not I totally get that but I'm saying I can't really say it over a blog, I mean it's not illegal but it's frowned upon as he says in the hangover lol no I don't care I'll go companies in your area that clean IMEI numbers, you just have to have a 5 to call and usually these small phone stores that fix the screens they'll quote unquote clean IMEI number

Can I contact u privately so that I can send you the pictures? I took the pictures before i unboxed the phone and after. Don't always doubt everyone that post on here. I dont know how else to express myself because I have been duped.

The right thing to do is call T-Mobile and ask if that phone has been reported, lost or stolen. If it has not they will probably take it off the black list for you. If it has, get it back to the lawful owner thru T-Mobil then call the police and tell them your story. Right now you are possibly in possession of stolen property over $500.00 making it a Felony Offense. I,m assuming the phone cost over $500.00 new. Dont feel bad, I bought a Trek Mountain Bike from a swap store for $50.00. I thought to myself ether someone didn't know what they had or it was stolen and then sold it to the swap shop who definitely didn't know what they had, selling a $900.00 bike for $50.00 LOL. I got it home and called the police and gave them the serial number, and sure enough a cop was at my door about 30 minutes later telling me it was stolen from a collage across town. So I loaded it up in my car and the cop followed me to the Campus PD Station and they gave it back to the lawful kid who owned it. We then went to the swap shop and I got my money back. and he told the cop some kid brought it in for sale. The kid who owned the Bike was very grateful to me for turning it in. Maybe you can make someone happy today to.
