Hello,
Anyone any idea what is wrong?
I just got my Diamond.
I use vodafone.
and i think i have everything set up correct.
i can go on the internet, watch youtube, see the weather.
Butttt.. when i try to send/recieve my email from gmail, it say that it cant connect with the current connection settings.
What could i be doing wrong?
i use IMAP and checked the settings on the gmail help site.
Thank you..
don't use IMAP.I set it up by just giving my gmail account user name and password and it receives the emails from my gmail inbox

It depends on whether you've activated IMAP in your Gmail and you should not let the phone auto detect your email settings- do it manually.
One other cause may be a proxy on your connection. When I first ran the auto operator setup, my POP3 email didnt work until I removed the proxy (still don't understand why)

It's best if you delete the account and then create a new one. When you create a new account, the first screen asks for your email address and password and then the second screen asks you if it should try and detect the settings automatically. THAT's where you need to uncheck it so you can enter your settings in manually on the following page.

You're right
I just tried to add a Gmail account and the same thing happened...
Glad the proxy thing helped. It drove me nuts in the beginning.

if your want to use gmail imap, you have to enter an incorrect email address first ([email protected]) and then edit it after, also I recommend using http://www.mobipush.com/ (push email) set to download your emails every 10-15 mins, you will get incredible battery life

Not true., it sets up as IMAP automatically.
And turn off vodafone proxy, and after setting up account, go to accountsettings again, and at last page under keyboard is 'advanced options', be sure it shows the right connection to be used !!
Downloading schedule can be set up in outlook mobile, and turn off push
hi there!! i'm using the diamond to get my emails from gmail... but when i read them, and then i delete the emails, in gmail those emails are also deleted from incoming folder, and go to the folder: all emails...

I use flexmail and it does what you want, even push and in combination with Momail you can get the email from all your acounts in 1 box anything you delete on your phone stays in your inbox.
Willem
If I am not mistaken this is a setting you can change in your gmail inbox settings.
where??? can you tell me how to do it please??

Dude come on man, this is not even Diamond stuff.
But try this:
Go to your gmail inbox and hit settings.
Then go to Forwarding and POP/IMAP and play with those settings.

On Messaging options press gmail then press Send/receive schedule.
on the lower part of the screen press advanced config and there you go.

configure it manually (messaging -> new account) instead of using htc assitant.
anyways, imap works just fine here
To use gmail with imap you got to activate imap in gmailsettings.

yes i did.weird thing is i changed imap.gmail.com to pop,gmail.com and i click next...etc.when i finished all settings i check it again it wasnt pop.gmail.com.it was imap.gmail.com.i am quite sure something is wrong in the rom.pop account is gray-out,it does not allow me to choose pop account.
Try to delete the Inbox map on your SD card if it's there, then you're able to sent email again.
when you deleted the account did you soft reset? that may well solve it.
imap is working fine here with gmail.
not sure why you want to use pop3 instead of imap4? any specific reason?

no i have no reason for pop3 but imap doesn't work properly.i dont understand what is wrong?still it gives same error when i try to send email.i can recive mail but i cant send.
I see, that doesn't guarantee working for pop3 too
Btw, I've been using Gmail mobile (java apps) since it came out, you may want to try it

for all of you who have forgotten your gmail account and password this is simpliest way to do it without loosing everything on a HTC Hero
ok i did this and it took me about 2 hourse to figure it out and went duh after i did it.
what you need:
another phone, a email address that you can access
send your self a text messagen then call yourself, after you answer your phone scroll down the missed text message from the top of the screen, tap on it hit then hit menu then composetype in a person you know in the to box, click on his/her name and a box appears under the to collum click on it and click on view personslide over to email, click on it where it says add email address, add your email address that you can access then click on then scroll back over to the information tab and click on send e-mail then compose, then compose again then send.
This sends it to the address that you used from your gmail account.
you then have to sign in to your e-mail account on the internet click on the message sent there.
you will see the gmail name copy it down that is your account name.
if you forgot your password go to google click in long on and follow the directions for recovering or changing your password.

Hello, I have an interesting problem. My company (professional) e-mail address is added to Xiaomi's mail app. Everything was well, until updating my Redmi 4X to MIUI 11. Now, I can not send e-mails, from my phone. It is trying to send it all the time and after a few minutes it sends me the message, that sending was unsuccessful. BUT, and that is the tricky part, after logging in with my company laptop to my company e-mail address, Xiaomi's e-mail app is also sending the e-mail from my phone. I've asked our IT guys for help, but they have no idea how to solve this problem. Any suggestions, ideas are welcome. Thanks
never used the MIUI email app, deleted it along with all the other useless bloatware. have you tried adding it to the gmail app?
Use gmail or outlook. Don't waste your time ?
If you face the same problem even using Gmail or outlook you might wanna look into email settings once and see if any option that would be somewhat like "don't let another source send your emails"

Our company security protocol does not support neither gmail nor outlook. Only the exchange.

So does the problem return when you aren't logged in on your laptop?
You can also try Samsung Email.
