Right, loads of questions, all in one place. - MDA Compact II Software Upgrading

I've got me an MDA compact 2, have tried a few WM6/6.1 ROMs alll are lovely but real slow. I want a stripped 6/6.1 ROM that works at a useable speed or a stripped WM5 ROM, then I want a HTC home screen with the weather, time etc, all that ****e. I want the touchflo and cube, preferably on WM5 and HTC audio/photo stuff.
So, perfect world is WM5 + HTC home/cube/photo/audio and still being not too slow. Have tried various combos and got no-where. Please my good men reply with links, help guides and ass hole simplicity for me. I love the charmer more than my broken touch, but miss these things. All help gratefully recieved. X

MDA C4 - Stock Rom problems - time to flash?

Just got the diamond on t-mobile currently:
ROM : 1.37.110.3 WWE
Radio: 1.00.25.03
Prot: 52.26a.25.09U
Id love to get after this stock before flashing with anything else so I can put it back if I need to!
So heres what Ive done so far and whats not great.
Added the manilla black .cabs (why did they boof it all by doing it in pink in the first place!)
Added the missed calls touchflo tab.
A few reg hacks as from this forum - not all.
So far:
- Struggles to connect back up (browser) to 3G after using my wireless connection.
- Sometimes loses the connectio to the network completey and cant reconnect with t-mobile without power down/up
- Start bar dissapears sometimes and needs power down/power up to get it back.
- touch flow is slow sometimes....annoying slow.
- dont get my favourites added to the browser touch flo menu?
Im still getting my head around WM6.1...so other annoyances:
- When I click on a test message in touch flo it goes straight into reply and also with threading....Ive seen the reg edit to diable threading but can you force it to just open the sms from the touch flow screen or does it have to drop straight into reply.
Ive been reading around here for a few days and although I didnt want to flash the beast yet....Im kind of fed up enough to either flash it or send it back. I like some aspects of it...the soft qwerty is ok but leaves you with little room to see anything else and its defo slower that normal keypad.
So Id love to here from people who have had this stock and since flashed something else and would like to tell me how great the phone is now.
Im not so fussed about the t-mobile branding of the browser but it would be nice to be able to get just to opera from the touchflo tab and also my startpage rather than theres..
Ive searched and read a lot - Im after anyone who has seen any of this and also recomendations of fixes including..'flash this it will make you want to keep the puppy'
Its almost brilliant.
I know replying takes time so I appreciate anyone who cares to share with me. Great forum.

I'd say flash it! I had the same device and it seemed slow and buggy to me. I contemplated sending it back and going to the iPhone, but I bit the bullet and flashed Swiftblades ROM. The difference is amazing, everything seems to run that bit smoother and TF3D is now usable. It is a pain having to tweak the device so it fits your needs for some people, but for me that's half the fun!
I've put loads of tweaks and apps on, some good, some not so, and it may be time for a hard reset. What the hell, I may even flash a newer ROM! (Once you've done it once, there'll be no stopping you.... it is nerve wracking the first time mind )

Did you manage to get hold of the stock ROM so if it doesnt look good then you can return it back to how it was?
I assume swiftblades rom has the manilla black and all the original HTC diamond touchflo features like youtube and the web browser debranding (i.e. loading opera without all the t-mobile favourite rubbish). Does it also have the favourites from the browser on the t-phone internet tab?
I was also on this ROM when i got my T-Mobile C4 and i can say that even with tweaks it was so awfully slow i was worried that it would continue to be this slow. I finally updated the ROM to Panosha 1.7 (very very very fast & has all the features you need, including t-mobile internet settings) and updated to the .05 ROM which definately improves my 3g & gprs.
In terms of getting the new T-Mobile stock rom, i haven't seen it been published yet but i can imagine it will get dumped and uploaded here very soon as T-Mobile have their Compact IV's back in stock so it's just a matter of time before someone get's hold of one
In terms of bugs and memory leaks in Panosha, there seems to be very few like all the other ROMs and i would say if you're gonna to change to an unsigned ROM, go to this one or Dutty's, because they are pretty much the same!
Hope this helps a little bit, any more questions then just ask

Thanks for the info :O) I was actually thinking about getting hold of the current stock rom 1.37.110.3 WWE to revert back if I have some probs. Ive seen today that someone has posted a link and orange have released 1.93.x.x from HTC. Im a bit nervous about flashing but Ive looked at a lot of the guides and read them over...do you just have to flash the rom and radio?
..thenm after hard reset you get a pucker manilla phone minus all you own apps/settings/messages etc.?
yep, just make sure you flash Hard SPL first, searhc around for a program called PimBackup if you want to backup all your contacts/calls/messages etc though message threading doesn't save but that's no biggie!

Im guessing you dont have a copy of t-mobile stock rom? Im just thinking that should this phone break at some point then without the stock rom then the warranty is probably invalid.....funny because I can find every other stock apart from the t-mobile one Ive got....
I didn't have a copy of the stock ROM, I just went for it. Someone else on the forum reckoned the first thing that happened when it gets sent back is the flash the latest ROM anyway.... it was good enough for me!
The HardSPL means you are unlikely to brick the phone though a dodgy ROM install, so if that goes on OK, you're laughing
I didn't have a copy of the rom at the time, however there are copies at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406327
This is my backup just incase it needs to go back
So...T-Mobile reckon they have a ROM update that will be released 'within the next 2 weeks' according to the support guy I spoke to last night....probably be a 1.93.x.x variant I suppose.
Thats great news....
Only trouble is, they are renowned for all talking utter ****e!

Yep. However orange have just released 1.93.x.x and from the discussion I had they have a lot of unhappy cmpct4 owners and its a flagship handset for them.
They could do them selves a favour and de-brand for us and save themselves some time as well. Id love to know what the guys that decided to do a white and pink TF3D are getting paid to come up with that idea...muppets.

Key remapper?

Okay, long story short(ened).
I've been using xda-dev for a long time, but this is my first time actually posting. I used to have a T-mo Wing, realized just how many ways in which it lacked power-wise, and decided to upgrade to a Kaiser (specifically, an AT&T Tilt).
I used the Tilt with its original ROM for a really long time, and I was about to sell it on eBay to buy a G1 (which I may still do, we'll see) when I decided to try out flashing it with a new ROM.
I weeded through the various ROMs that you guys have cooked up, and I decided I liked Sakajati's Hyperdragon III Opal the best.
Took me a while to get it to work (biggest issue was that I had to switch to my wife's computer with XP, since my PC runs Vista), but now that I've got it running, I love it. I had my Kaiser running all sorts of fun apps before (man, some of you guys make some seriously awesome stuff!), but I could never get TouchFlo to work, so this ROM makes me very pleased. Manila is awesome, too. =)
Anyhow, to the point.
The Tilt has a different keyboard setup than the standard Kaiser. As a result, when I'm typing, I go to hit & and = shows up instead. # turns up with *, " yields &, etc. I can deal with this, but it's pretty annoying.
I don't know, maybe this was addressed in the Hyperdragon III thread, but I tried finding it to no avail. Since this isn't quite a Hyperdragon III issue so much as just needing to rework my keys, I don't think this belongs in that thread anyhow.
But, question is - do you guys happen to have any solutions? Maybe a program that lets me reprogram each of my keys to my own preference, maybe a .CAB that automatically reprograms my keys to the appropriate format. I don't care. I just want a solution.
Anybody?

Do a search on xda for tilt keyboard fix.
jeannette
this file will make the changes you need
Thanks guys. I appreciate the help.
RTFM!! haha just kidding. I'm not trying to be one of those guys.
Since you are new to the tilt, I'd recommend you read this thread though. There are lots of good links and tutorials in there.

Thank You Everyone!

Hello....
I just wanted to thank everyone who replied to my messages and tried to help me reguarding my issues with TomTom... Which rom I would use, etc... Just so you all know, after receivign the same advice from a few people, I just did a hard reset with the original AT&T WM 6.0 rom that I had been usign all along seeing as it worked perfectly with my software and such... Then installed hte Xplode HTC Home, TomTom 7 (My Traffic works again YAY), and all the other software... Even reassigned the PTT from "Push to Talk" to "Pour TomTom" (I know, cheap pun but it works).. MY phone is once again operating in ti top shape....
I do have one new question... The metalic coating on ym End key is starting to flake.. I know others have this problem as well, and it does nto effect performance... How difficult is it to replace the keypad? Also.. are there other ones I could choose that dont; ahve the metalic coating? I woudl be find with black or grey .. Thanks

need some guidance on updating my p3600

Hey there guys, i just recently found this forum and i'm loving it!
i found things that i didn't imagined that could be possible with my p3600.
so the thing is, i've a htc p3600 (bought in jan 2007) and quite frankly i like the phone alot. recently i saw a htc diamond with touchflo and everything else and i started to think that i should swap phones...until.......... i discovered xda-developers!!
i would really love to update my p3600 (currently on wm5) to a newer wm...with touchflo if possible.
my native language is portuguese, but if the best rom out there is english i don't mind..i just want this baby looking good
so i saw there are alot of roms avaiable... can you guys give me some advice on which one should i choose?
also, anything that i should be aware of before flashing my rom?
to flash my rom i only have to plug it (usb) and run the file... right?
would love some help.
thanks in advance,
so guys, i digged a bit myself and i ended up upgrading the radio to the latest version and installing "Karmba_a_Diamond_Blue_For_Trinity_v_Last"
i like this rom ... but there are a few bugs on it, for example sometimes when people call me i can't see who's calling (specially if the phone is on energy saver with the screen turned off) ... when it comes back on the screen starts flashing and i cant see who's calling... so my question is, can anyone advice me a sweet rom for me to use?
thanks again,
I am by any standards a complete noob at the whole rom flashing thing but here are the files i used.
[P3600i]_HardSPL_v1.1
HTC_Trinity_SIM_CID_Unlock_v1
[P3600i]_Radio_v1.56.70.11
and finally rom WM 6.1.0.4.5.0 Home
it all seems to work well with the only prob so far being occasional memory issues when i run Opera or Inturdnet Explorer.
Hope this helps
Smiffy
Any news on your upgrad

HTC P4350 Slow

Hi all
I have an HTC P4350, not from T-Mobile...
It has got WM6 on, 6.1, and I'm not satisfied with the speed of the phone. There's a delay in the slider and when running multiple apps, like Skype and Mxit.
I got WM5 with the phone, and was hoping someone here can help me install WM5 onto the phone again, or a better solution?
Basically, my goal is to have this phone running as fast as possible, and having extra space will be great too.
I use it for MSN/Skype/Mxit/Maps/Internet/Emails/Wifi/Bluetooth/Video/etc (I trust you get that I use this phone to it's potential)
Please can someone help me out
By the way, the ROM I have now is from HTC themselves.
