Threaded texting was annoying me because the screen I was typing my message out on was miniscule, even without the keyboard in the way.Was just wandering if there is any was of getting more screen space in threaded messages without disabling threaded messages altogether?
Thanks,
S.
p.s. sorry for my noob questions at the moment.
you can use the zoom function (navigation wheel) to reduce the fontsize
You can increase the number of lines in the reply box - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=404396

Hello, I'm a newbie here. I have a ATT Tilt. I love the phone. However I hate the threaded messages. Whenever I receive a new text, the message contents are displayed on the screen. Some of my messages are private, and if some is using my phone or I am showing someone something, they can read my message. Is there anyway to remove this?
Please help
Thanks
threaded? - that's not threaded, threaded sms is where multiple sms messages are grouped together. What you are talking about is just a notification. Go into sound settings and turn off the "display message on screen" for New SMS messages
Thanks!
... so how exactly does threaded sms work
DELETED - double post
I guess the easiest comparison would be "gmail". Have you ever seen how gmail displays email messages? It basically threads all related messages together. Since text messages don't really keep a history of the current conversation, threaded text messages allow the user to see the history of the conversation all threaded together. Take a look a gmail account and it will make total sense. The Palm devices that run WM had a thread sms application but regular WM devices lilke the Tilt don't have it by default.
I was just thinking of that. So its similar to Gmail conversations... Is it based on Ajax technology as well?......Is it auto enabled, or do I have to enable it?
Is there a way to show the number of typed characters when typing a text message with the latest official ROM? I used to have a counter showing the number of characters typed and the number of messages that had to be sent.
I'm unable to find a few customization options here (and if possible I do not want to use a 3rd party app).
Should be at the top of the page when entering your new text. Its always been there as standard with the threaded SMS app
yeah it's where start normally is
It happens when replying to an sms (then threaded sms start).
When I start a new sms from scrap, then I've got the counter as before.
Any way to disable the threaded mode?
I found the character counter.
I'm using WkTask as a taskmanager, which puts all active programs in the taskbar (just like normal Windows behavior). And in that area of the sms application on the taskbar, it puts its character counter.
It was there already, but I just missed it I guess
I've just updated mine, and I've noticed the same. The character counter is present when I create a new message. It's not there when I reply in conversation mode.
Anyone know how to turn it on?
There's a bit of an interface conflict between threaded SMS and TF3D; One should dismiss (not delete) all incoming SMS's so that threaded conversations can be assimilated. However this results in TF3D reporting 63 messages...messy.
If you delete, the message truly gets dropped from the threaded conversaiton.
What are you guys doing?
normally i'll mark it as read... then i wont get the tf3d reporting it...
Just what I do. I dont delete any of my text messages out, never have on windows mobile device.
It can get annoying when you get a couple of texts and you have to keep going into your Inbox to view the other messages, would be nice if TouchFLO 3D just showed the 1st text, then the 2nd text, and so on.
But not a major thing.
Can anybody tell me what program I can use for my text messaging notification? The problem I have is that when I read the text message, it still shows as new. Meaning I have to go in to the inbox and highlight the actual message to get that number off my text icon.
I've found it here a long time ago, but I couldn't find it. And I did search but all I kept getting were post about disabling the sent text notification.
thanks.
i think you may be talking about kaiser tweak. you can do a search to find it because that thread is buried somewhere
I think he may be talking about threaded SMS not setting the text to "Read" when you enter threaded SMS.
I noticed this a little while back. I've just kind of gotten used to it. If I receive a new text message, I'll open it in threaded SMS. it won't be set to "Unread" until I exit threaded sms by pressing "OK"
Hi good people,
I'm looking for an application that will allow me to hide some sms so that they dont appear on my recieved or sent sms list . I'm using X1 and I have googled and searched but could not find anything.
And dont blast me asking why I need such an application it just is something a guy needs to have, just in case.
Anyone has an idea?
Seriously, please help
You could try posting in the Q&A section.
EasyHelper SMS Security can hide the secret/important SMS messages (including incoming SMS messages and existed SMS messages in Inbox). The hidden SMS messages are encrypted and stored separately. Only you can see it with a correct password.
At the same time, it can aslo effectively block spam SMS messages without producing any sound or light indication.
Thanks

Thanks alot man. I found it. It looks promising, unfortunately it doesnt seem to work on my Firestorm 3.5 ROM...could it be that its designed for WM 6 and not 6.5? It installs and loads ok but when it comes to setting up the options the screen refuses to work, I get all the writing on the screen overlapping each other making it impossible to read anything.
