I'm new to the wizard world and read though tons of posts about backing up and restoring ROMs, but I couldn't quite find the answer to this question. Is it possible to take the instant messaging programs from the TMobile extended rom and install them on the Cingular 8125?
Should I assume from the lack of response that this isn't possible?
Use AgileMessenger. One IM client works with all the IM services. Pretty good!
From the T-Mo USA Ext Rom I used these 2 CAB files to get the program to work. Signed_Move_IM_Link.sa.CAB and Signed_OZPocketPC.Cab. and now i have the program working fine. Let me know if that works for you.

where did you get those as i can't find them :\ thanks.
I just tried this. It works great. I assume this program works via a Proxy? If so, is it a tmobile proxy or OZ proxy?
PS. found it on ftp.xda-developers.com/uploads/
perhaps this one:
ftp://xds:[email protected]/Uploads/TMo-US-Ext_ROM.zip
i'm gonna try this as well
so i got those cabs installed on 8125 but how do you make it connect?
can make it work over edge or wifi? proxy no proxy?
its not working on either edge or wifi on my 8125 on the cingular network
if someone could figure this out this would be a huge solution to alot of 8125 users
See this post:

It appears that this program uses text messaging instead of the internet.
Hey All,
I'm curious as to what all the .cab files do in the new T-Mobile extended rom (when you flash to ROM 2.26). I did the soft-reset trick to avoid having them installed but there are a few features I know I'm missing that I would like to get back (such as the today screen shortcut to the comm manager).
Does anyone have a list of what these .cab files do in the new extended rom?
Thanks,
- Tatusmi
Bumping as I would also like to know if anyone has figured this out. Thanx!!!
If you look on the wiki there is some limited documentation about what each thing does, when I went through each one individually I found some of the things labeled as "unknown" were actually self explanatory in the name.

Hey Gang,
I'm looking for something to enable PTT on a custom ROM. I seached the forums with the google and external sites, but no luck. I know your all asking, "Why the hell would he want to use it?", but I have an employee plan with ATT that included 250 minutes for free. So why not utilize it.
I previously used AKU tilt ROM, but switched to the official cingular (att) rom just to use the PTT. I was hoping someone could direct me in the right direction to either enable PTT, or a .cab of some sort.
Thanks,
kelpi
Hi chaps,
Wondering if someone can help me out with the following issue -
When I flash a new ROM to my device I am never able to use O2's homepage for looking up train times (something I use regularly) as it gives me a message stating it was unable to recognise my number.
Obviously this doesn't happen on a stock ROM.
Can anyone shed any light on where this setting is located, or what I need to do to access this feature on O2's site.
This is a small issue in the grand scheme of things but something I am flummoxed by!
I can find nowhere to enter my 'number' which will allow O2's homepage to identify me as a contract customer.
For info, I am using a Sony Xperia newly flashed to Jack's 2.9 WWE ROM.
Many Thanks!
(I did search but I couldn't locate anything on the above, though I will admit I may not have searched under all the correct terminology, apologies if I have missed something glaringly obvious!)

It's possibly the user agent, rather than the phone number. What browser are you using?
The Opera browser. But it doesn't seem limited to the Xperia, it seems to happen when ever I use a custom ROM. (Previously on a Stellar and before that, an Orbit). Perhaps I need to get a copy of the 'auto customiser' that O2 installs on any WM device they sell.
Any thoughts?

might help.
still a good chance it's just the custom user agent in the browser though.
Ive no idea what's included in the O2 roms. will have a quick look now as long as RS isn't playing up
BrB
Upon further reading it seems the auto O2 Customisation is done by an XML script, perhaps if this can be extracted (or found) I can locate the correct details?
try this first
O2/1.0/SonyEricssonX1i/R1AA Opera/9.5 (Microsoft Windows; PPC; Opera Mobi/2141; U; UK) UP.Link/6.3.1.20.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
go into opera:config enter custom and a space in the quick search paste it in the relevant bit and save.
there's quite a lot of RGU and provxml in any rom.. in the R1 O2 there's also a load of cab files relating to connections.. Dumping it all in a folder.
There's also custinfo.txt in /windows drop the following into windows. (use a decent file manager not the built in one).
Many thanks for this! I shall have a go at this in a bit, I just reflashed my device again.
Once again, this is much appreciated my friend!

Is it possible to run the O2 customisations in o2stuff.zip on the R2 firmware? I'm getting impatient waiting for O2 to release an updated firmware
I don't mind the majority of customisations they make (apart from removing google maps and panel ) and I really just want to make sure the correct phone settings are in place.
I was wondering if I flashed to generic uk, dump the contents of o2stuff.zip in windows folder and execute O2_Operator_Settings.exe, would I in effect have an O2 customised R2 firmware?

mostly yes. there's some things I didnt include but it should be close.
Don't get me started on waiting for O2 to release new firmware updates.
The apocolypse will arrive before they actually release one at the same time as everywhere else. This is one of the main reasons I started flashing my devices (much love to this forum which has been my main source of information).
Plus the previous radio for my X1 had rubbish signal reception in my area and I was not prepared to wait for O2 to pull their finger out.
ive searched, and searched and searched, but cant find an answer...
ive got a tilt using a custom rom, and i have an x-tra tilt currently runing the stock rom.
what i would like to know is if its possible to use the CV (Cingular Video) link on the custom rom or the media.net link to check account status and stuff
i can switch the sim card between the units and the CV and medianet work fine on the stock rom, but if i manually type in the url's into the flashed tilt, the links dont work.
i cant imagine im the only one that ever tried to do this, but im at a loss on how to make this work?
any ideas would be appreciated
50+ views and not one idea? com'on guys and gals....
That's because we have no idea what you're talking about.
Links? As in something you click on in Internet Explorer to get to another web page??
Or do you mean an application?

100+ reads and this is the first i get? well its a start...silly me, i thought ANYONE that has used the AT&T Tilt for more then 5 minutes would of seen the cingular video and media net links...
allow me to clarify...
htc/att winmo 6.1 rom found on the HTC site, version 3.57.502.2, released 08/21/08
Cingular Video:
from the start menu, click on programs, and then click on the cingular video icon. that opens up internet explorer and the link (URL) is http://cingularvideo.cingular.com/ from the HTC/ATT rom the link takes me so i can watch a variety of videos online
MediaNet Home:
from the start menu, click on programs, and then click on the media net home icon. this opens up internet explorer and the link (URL) listed is http://device.home/ from this page i can check weather, phone bill stats and usage of other phones on the family plan.
both of these work on the factory rom, but i havent found a single custom rom where i can type in these links into a browser and they work...

There is a good way to get continued help, whine about no one helping you and then be obnoxious to the first person that tries. I have had a Tilt for 2 years and had no idea what you were talking about. Mostly because ANYONE who has used the AT$T Tilt got rid of all the AT$T " crapware " after about 4 minutes.
The fact that you cannot open it using other roms and the fact that you cannot open it on your PC should tell you that they are proprietary links that are interdependent on other bloatware installed with your AT$T rom.
Unfortunately if you want your bloatware, you will probably have to use a crappy AT$T rom.
yeah sounds like device.home would be something that is installed on the actual phone, so reload the att rom and start digging.
Thank you come again.

Cingular video and Media.net are provided by AT&T are propriatary to AT&T and only work from an AT&T stock rom, and since they both suck; none of the cooks here are going to put it thier roms. The only way to get them is to use the stock rom.
Insted of Media.net use internet explorer and insted of CV use Youtube or Hulu. They work a lot better
Hulu works on the Tilt?
Hulu works by way of skyfire. youtube works via lots of ways now, but I prefer kinoma play - buy it, it's worth it.
As to your original post, I know what you mean. I liked cv video too. I read something about being thru a proxy or whatnot and you had to edit some settings. But the other posters are right, it is att and not really worth the hassle of cooking it or making a cab for it.
Also go get Opera as your browser (if you haven't already) - load a testing version and work with the display options to get just what you want.
These will make your tilt much more usable.
