disable contacts autoscrolling ? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

yesterday while i was trying to find a person by going to "Contacts" i observed a thing that pretty much annoyed me.
i was trying to get the contacts a few at a time (making thumb contact with the screen, moving thumb up about 1-2 centimeters up, taking thumb off the screen), and i was amazed to see that fast scrolling begins and stopped at the end of my contacts list. i`ve tried to go from bottom to first contact in a similar way ... again the fast auto scrolling.
in my case, to browse the contacts a few at a time i must keep my finger in contact with the screen while moving the finger.
does anyone has this problem ?
and more importantly has anyone "fixed it" ?
i am using 1.93.401.2 ROM with touch flo 1.1.34569.0_1630.38

Same for me (HTC Album behaves the same). I just keep my thumb on screen so it stops or use the alphabetical list on the right to search for contacts.

well deffinetly with my old rom, 1.3x i believe, the behaviour was for sure normal
LE: the same thing happens when trying to scroll in "Phone"

Tap and Hold

Perhaps this belongs in the "Unresolved Issues" thread.. I'm unsure.
I'm using a Tilt on the Stock shipped Rom.
When using Touchflo normally - i.e. Sliding my finger finger up or down, the menu pops up as if I had tapped and held the stylus. Very annoying. Does anyone else experience this issue on the Tilt? Also, the stylus operates Touchflo as well.
From what i remember using Touchflo on my wizard, the PPC could distinguish the difference between the Stylus, and my Finger. Why can't the Tilt recognize the difference?
Can a regedit be done to fix this?
None of it can differentiate between stylus & finger. All TFlo looks for is a delay to tell between Tap & Gesture. You may want to adjust your gesture recognition delay or just don't gesture all the way to the top. You don't need to. All you really need to do is transition from area 1 to area 2 within the specified gesture delay period.
Well, the reason i say it could differentiate was because:
Lets assume im browsing a word document, or the PIE: if I slid the stylus up the screen, it would select text, if i slid my finger accross the screen, it would Scroll.
I will alsom note that selcting text is VERY hard. i have to tap the stylus and hold it for a second or so before sliding, otherwise text will not be selected.

Sometimes, mine will do this if I hold to long. Typically, the problem I have with TouchFlo, is that it thinks I want to highlight... everything. So rather than scrolling, it highlights the page. Very annoying. It seems to like scrolling with the stylus more so than using your fingers.
Furthermore, I have just noticed that because the Kaiser fails to recognize the difference between the stylus, and a finger press, the transcriber App will not work.
Can someone attempt to use transcriber on their stock ATT rom to reproduce this problem? -please post your findings.
I specifically remember that the wizard was able to distinguish the stylus from a finger press.

Ok, so I have disababled the TFlo scrolller, so I thought, by changing the EnableScroll registry setting to 0. However, the scroll is still working. I have PiePlus 2.2 installed, could that be the problem?
FTouch was the culprit. How do I unisntall FTouch ?
Took the link outta the startup folder, rebooted, and then deleted the folder containing fTouch from the Program Files folder.
I came across this thread because I was having the same problem as the O.P. and was not able to find a solution for it (that is why I am posting in such an old thread so that I can share my experience). I am using Dutty's new Diamond Rom (from June 7th, 2008). Previously I used Duttys_WM6.1_Official_5.2.19209_1_58_16_27__FIX_ and never had the problem with that ROM...I only started having it after the update.
To fix the problem I used AdvancedConfig (or you can use KaiserTweak) to disable TouchFlo scrolling. After disabling it, do a soft reset. Then install FTouchFlo and FTouchFloConfig. Since doing that navigating in PIE and contacts is as smooth as it was in my previous ROM

Messages open from the bottom?

Hi all,
Not sure what I have done here - but since installing and playing with KaiserTweak when I open and email or SMS message it opens from the bottom of the message - meaning I have to scroll back to the top to start reading it. On some short messages all I get is a blank white screen as it has scrolled down past all the text. Soft reset does nothing to help and I can find no option in KaiserTweak that seems to influence it.
Can anyone help - it is slowly driving me mad!
Thanks, Rich
I have the same problem !
Just Open KaserTweak again, search the D-Pad Scroll Navigation setting and Disable it.
That should resolve your problem
cheers!
Excellent - thanks! Worked a charm...

Appears to be a small problem side-effect. In calendar, in agenda view I can no longer go left-right to select the day. Tapping the day on screen also does not change anything.
Tried changing the D-Pad setting back but no luck....still broken.
Anyone got any ideas or suffered the same?
R
What sort of view are you using (day/week/month/year)? Have you also tried to re-align your screen?
Using AGENDA view, I used to be able to use the D-Pad to go left/right. This no longer works. Screen is aligned and I can select one of the days MTWTFSS but it does not change the agenda view below. If I switch to day mode then I can still not use the D-Pad but pressing the day on screen now works....
Apologies for some reason I had day/week/month/year as sub-menu's of the Agenda View. Duh. Anyway, I see what you mean, possibly a stupid suggestion but have you tried a soft-rest since turning d-pad navigation off?
I, too, used D-Pad navigation at some point, but turned it off again, and I am still able to use the D-pad in agenda view...
yeah - have soft reset several times - makes no difference now if the d-pad is set or not - guess I have upset it somehow but how I do not know - was working fine until I disabled the d-pad in kaisertweak this morning to fix the sms message opening problem....
...I feel a hard reset and re-load coming on
R
Hmmm - turned it on this morning and it is fixed???? WEIRD!! Have nto changed, installed, or moved anything. Was broken yesterday - and working today - go figure???
I fixed it with my mind... your welcome
I'm experiencing this problem as well, but I did not install any version of Kaiser Tools. I'm actually using an HTC Universal, updated with an AKU3.3 ROM (check sig for details). I can't remember when or why it started to do this (opening SMS/E-mail at bottom), but it's driving me nuts.
Does anyone know of a registry key that can be changed, or anything else that I can look at? Please let me know if you have any idea.
Thanks in advance all,
-scar

Pocket CM and touch issues

OK gents, I've been doing a lot of reading and searching but have not found any resolution for the issues I'm currently expreriencing......
1. Bring up the cube
2. rotate to side with favorite contacts
3. touch the filter button on the bottom (third from left)
4. Pocket CM loads and pulls up all contacts
5. Close Pocket CM
6. Bring up the cube...but it brings up a speed dial, pocket cm screen (?) I think that's what it is....looks similar to the favorites side of the cube
At this point the touch functionality becomes unresponsive and the tilt is somewhat unresponsive, sometimes the top bar does not come back
7. Press end key to close this screen
8. Soft reset required to get back to 100%
My setup...Dutty's 6.1 Rom - Touchflo - PocketCM V.19
Pocket CM has an exclusion in the touchflo-cube setup
Think that about covers it...I really want to be able to use PocketCM so any help would be appreciated.
Heh, just did some searching on google for my problem and got excited when I saw the first search result, then I realized I found my own post!
Anywho, checked the PocketCM forum and there is one user there with the same issue but no one has responded to him as of yet....
oh well, more searching awaits........
Try adding PocketCM to your TouchFlo exceptions.
tis already in the list.
Tried to remove it and then add it back as an exclusion. No dice.
Looks like the PocketCm app starts to hang after I try to close it (after being opened through the cube)
Anybody?
I certainly can just not use that button, but it seems like there's a couple of other issues with pocketcm that i can't put my finger on yet.

Wild contacts scrolling?

I've done a search but I'm not quite sure what to call the problem, so if I missed a thread please link me
The problem is, when I scroll contacts, I brush my finger downwards, and the contacts fly past, and fly past, and fly past until it reaches the last contact.
Its really hard to stop it where you want it to stop, since it just whizzes past in a blur.
'All programs' used to do the same, but "Boinger66 diamond advanced config v .51.cab (95.3 KB, 3541 views)" solved the problem on for programs.
Anyone got any suggestions, is this a common problem with a simple fix?
Using a stock UK 1.37 ROM from orange.
thanks
simple fix: dont use contacts lol
What you should do is use the smart dialing feature, where you go to 'phone' and then dial in your contacts name on the keypad (a bit like T9 texting on a classic phone keypad) as your typing in the name it will show the top 2 matched contacts in real time at the top of the screen, when you find the one you want, press the call button
also set up the people tab for frequent text messaging contacts.
Thats a good tip, thanks
I kept on digging and found this as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406206&highlight=contacts+scroll
So if anyone finds this thread with the same problem, the above link will show you how to set up your circle 'zoom' wheel as a scroll wheel that works in contacts, it makes life soooo much easier <3

Opera rotation not working very well or at all

In opera browser the screen rotates very rarely or at all , I mean is not very responsive ( the G sensor ) ... but in Pictures instantly when I rotate the phone so is the picture... what do you guys think?
i got the same problem...
any1 got a clue what could be/ how to solve this?
another one reports here,
same problem, works great in Pictures, but in opera it is as slow as hell....
Had similar problem today, which led me to recalibration of Gsensor. After that i ran the Opera browser, and screen rotated much faster than before. Hope it helps...
Edit: noticed that screen rotation response is also better and faster in Photos/Album too...
done that still no joy
At the beginning I wait until the page is loaded and then rotate. It is not so responsive in the middle of the page loading process...i can live with that...
Did you guyzz try the latest Opera version?
everytime i rotate the phone... opera rotates and the phone goes back to home screen... i have to go back into opera via task manager, and its back on portrait again...
I'm having this problem too, and it's bugging the hell out of me. I've calibrated the g-sensor, but it's still not working very well. I have Opera 1938 and SwiftBL V6.0 ROM. I don't use GSEN.
To make rotation work somewhat, I have to "snap" the Diamond from straight portrait to straight landscape. I can't have it slightly tilted away from me, like I would if I had it in my lap or on a table. However, with the Diamonds image browser it works fine, which makes me think that the problem lies within Opera.
I've tried using the tweak setting long-press home button to manually rotate screen, but this kicks me out of Opera and into TF3D. In SMS it works fine, though.
Teeter works great though, and that again makes me think that it's mostly a bad integration/calibration of the g-sensor in Opera that's the problem, eg. not very calibrated tresholds for rotation.
So we have to wait for a proper version of Opera.
the rendering of a webpage is very cpu intensive action, everything has to be recomputed for small display. if you change resolution (ie. rotate diamond) in the middle of the loading the page, it's bit too much for little diamond. just wait till the loading of the page finishes, and then rotating works ok. it can't be much better...
This is happening to me too (Telus version) but it only recently started happening. As soon as I rotate the screen - whether the page is fully loaded or not - it brings me to the Phone screen. I've accidently called people a couple times due to this so it's a bit frustrating.
I'm going to try hard resetting my phone and then slowly install applications and tweaks to see if I can figure out what's causing it.
I have this issue as well...I think Opera ios just trying to do too much....loading a page and rotn at the same time. After a while it seems to work better....I still think they have a long way to go to make this programe bug free and reliable

Same thing happens to me, on the same ROM.
Did you get any result doing this? I have the Telus ROM too and this is very annoying.
I have tried using GSen with the rom before, but uninstalled it. No change.
The only thing I suspect may interfere could be that I mapped a Long Key Press for screen rotation in apps like Inbox. I will try unmapping and post the results here.
I don't know how TouchFlo is integrated to the OS, but I wonder if manually changing the orientation of the screen somehow affects other components that could become "out of sync" with the current orientation... Could it be related to the version of one component? Looks like GSen does not work properly with Telus ROMS.
at least your opera get to go lanscape. When mine try to do landscape, it somehow open up the phone dialer and i get kicked out of Opera. Anyone know what this happens? Keeping it in portrait mode is fine, but the second i rotate it, it halts the program and open up phone dialer for no apparent reason!!

i think it s HKLM>SOFTWARE>MICROSOFT>SHELL
I then set ShowTitleBarClock to 2

It works!.....but then it covers up my battery meter
I'm not sure what would show the battery icon....I use ariel battery metter
...same problem here...
(Telus)
Same as mine.
Rotation speed in Opera seems not real working when the phone rotated for vertical / horizontal orientation. I am wondering memory size whether it can support changes in high resolution display.
See whether it has upgrade version to speed up the function.
