Hi,
Yesterday I flashed Dutty's Diamond V1 Build 19588 to my Vodafone v1615 NL phone, only to discover that JAVA wasn't included. So I looked around in this wiki and found this link.
It links to several cabs of Esmertec Java which are supposedly the same as the ones included standard.
After installing I immediatly noticed that the splashscreen of the JAVA app wasn't very clear. The letters were grainy etc. I tried both with and without cleartype. I figured that it wouldn't matter. However, when I downloaded Opera Mini, I found that it was SLOW. And not only that, where I used to be able to pan around using my finger (ie swiping it over the screen to move the screen fluently) it now doesn't work. This is because of the lag there is. So on the original ROM it was able to pan without ANY problems. Does anybody have any idea how this problem can be fixed?
I tried all Esmertec cabs that were listed!
Thanks!
Confirm that Opera Mini is slow. I think Dutty is onto it on his fix/next ver.

I have manage to fix the windows media player in the Rom, took ages to figure out,
I have added Remote Desktop and Esmertec java
poorlyduck diamond windows media player skin
I will create add on cabs for add on languages like gullums for diamond keyboard.
I'm still considering to remove the htc album out the rom, its very nice but a bit buggy for now,
everything remains the same, I might update the CE OS for next release
PS. IF ALL GOES GOOD I WILL RELEASE A CUBE AND LITE VERSION AS WELL

I have tried this version, I am not so happy with it. I find it rather slow and the zooming in zooming out feels tedious. I may be spoiled because I am also using an iPod Touch with the Safari Mobile browser but are there any previous builds of the Opera Mobile 9.5 browser that have faster performance than this?
I am working on a Samsung i780 so I have a lot of power behind the phone, I just don't find this version jaw-dropping.
Okay this looks great. Just tested it on the Diamond and it's fast, seems stable and fixes the "black whole problem" at least on the sites I had problems with.
One drawback: it doesn't seem to support the g-sensor out of the box. however we might be able to work around that with gsen... didn't try that though.
I guess this is a real candidate for some cooked ROMs...
Edit: This thing is REALLY fast. We might probably want to work on how to replace the original opera on a diamond with this version?
Cheers,
Alex
Will installing this overwrite the default Opera diamond browser?
You can install it on the internal storage - so your pre-installed opera should be left untouched. As for the default browser setting - I didn't check that. But you should be able to switch back if desired as well.
Okay from some testing I can report the following issues:
Does not use old Opera's bookmarks, so when overwriting old opera there's no way to sync bookmarks with Manila (some tiny application might be written to do the job however I guess)
Occasionly prevents device standby (even when manually pressing the standby button) - getting out of opera helps
At least in my setup it keeps starting itself when exited - that might however be a result of me playing around to replace original opera with new one
The most noticable bug from opera's official known-issues list is the non-working re-flow of text paragraphs. instead the paragraphs are _always_ sized to fit the zoomed-in screen
Auto-rotation is not implemented out of the box - I didn't test, yet if GSen would do the trick (for some of us disabled auto-rotation might actually be a plus ;-)
Some of these issues obviously have to be fixed for a final - but I assume they will do so until the final release.
On the bright side we have:
Definitely faster
Looks like it has lower memory consumption (not measured though) - this actually makes the auto-restart thing I experience acceptable for me - I simply keep it running in the background at the moment
The black-hole problem seems to be fixed
Once the issues have been worked out this will be a huge step forward in mobile browsing on the diamond - even compared to the current version of opera mobile!
If anyone else is testing this software I'd be happy to hear some feedback and maybe solutions found to the issues I mentioned.
Cheers,
Alex
Does it also support Flash based websites? (containing flash video's?)
i also tried to install it both on the device & internal storage, but it just won't start the new version... even when i start the program from the program list it will start the old version...
i guess the beta version wanted to prevent the resizing of the paragraph while zooming in some text pages, but i do like it coz the zooming in & out is now more precise...
anyone have any idea how to replace the old opera with this new beta...
also another problem encountered is the pop up of the input keyboard... it will automatically switch to the default windows style even if i set it to full qwerty keyboard...
i hope htc will implement it soon or opera could release the final version soon, this browser is the best so far~
Here is the Thread containing the latest Opera build, was released yesterday I think. Anyway, its miles better than this beta, go check it out!

not impressed, seems much slower than what im currently using
find it in the file manager to launch it.
I find it has a keyboard issue... it keeps reverting back to small qwerty.
I uninstalled it and now my original opera takes longer to load up. (now those progress blocks have appeared?)

Have to agree, build 1938 is *way* better than this one, it's a lot faster and far more stable. At least on a Samsung i780 which is what I used to test it.
I also tried it on an iMate Jasjar but the build had problems working with the qwerty keyboard -- when you try to type it will take in one character then close the SIP, so you can no longer enter any letters. Horrible bug, did not have this problem with any other build I tried so far. But it works fine, only problem is I have to use the SIP, and the point of getting a Universal is to have the QWERTY!
When starting various builds of OM 9.5 on various builds of WM 6.5 I always get horizontal lines where the web page should be.
Current builds I'm trying are:
OM 9.5 15746
WM 6.5 21232 V25T PDAVIET
SPL 3.34
Radio 1.71.09.01
I've searched XDA-Dev and Google extensively for other posts about this but can't find any. I don't understand why I seem to be the only one with the problem...?
It's not always good to be different hey....
I can't help I'm afraid.... I have no problems with this.
All I can do is attach another version for you to try
While I'm at it, I thought I'd attach the other two browsers I use more than OM!
Good luck
EDIT: Trying to attach cabs, but uploader is playing up.
Edit 2: Won't attach Opera? - You'll have to go to the PDA Ultimate ROM 6.1 thread - post #4 (cab corner) there is an Opera Cab that is V9.5 239

Thanks for your reply Brandall. I'm still having problems and have even tried the new 9.7 opera mobile build with a similar problem, although no stripes this time.
I suppose that's progress...
Only 6.5 I've been able to get up and running long enough to test Opera is Abusalzas X2V1. Opera comes with it, and it runs fine. Maybe give it a try.
I recently bought the Topaz (Diamond2) after a succesfull, but broken Diamond. On that first Diamond I had (amongst others) CorePlayer, Advanced Config and Opera 9.5 beta (gears version) installed.
I installed everything again, but... not working at all?? Tomtom is working correctly (Topaz is MUCH faster than original diamond..!!), but the former apps won't run after installation.
The phone is without simlock (bought it without simcard).
coreplayer 1.3.2 works perfectly for me
I got Opera 9.5 running now; searched some fora and found a registry tweak for application unlocks. After that, I uninstalled 9.5 and installed again and it works. Coreplayer still giving errors while starting up.
Weird. I had Opera running last evening. This morning I connected to my wifi, and Opera will NOT start again. Installed again: still not running...
I also came across some notification while installing weatherdatabase editor; it said something like it couldn't pass the security of the weatherdatabase.
Looks like some firmware lock?
Anyone here having the new opera 9.5 version running? It is because the original Opera won't show picture fields while i'm not connected to wifi; when I'm on gprs/umts and try to play Travian, the icon's won't show up. When I connect to wifi, everything is OK. So, I tried installing the Opera 9.5 and on my old Diamond it worked. But not on the Topaz..
**EDIT**: After soft reset or power off, I have to reinstall Opera 9.5 Then it runs. Soft reset: stop running....
i think i may have a stupid question but ive really looked everywhere for the solution and cant find anything!
the problem is:
on my topaz (original rom etc) i installed opera mobile 9.7b just to try it out, didn't work wit the zoombar and G-sensor so i just unstalled it. but now when i open a link in e.g. an e-mail i get IE instead of opera 9.6 (the original delivered with the topaz).
i've looked every little file on my phone but i can't find where i can put the old opera back to default! anybody here maybe can help..
or... is it possible to integrate opera 9.7beta into the topaz, so i can use the zoombar and the tilt function when i'm browsing, and acces true the internet button on my touchflo 3d?
I like the new opera but it isn't really working for 100% integrated on my phone so the old one is better to use for me
