hi
i sometimes download files via opera and i use the open option, but opera keeps a copy in the /windows folder, which means i gotta keep cleanin dat folder otherwise my main memory gets full..
1. Is there any way to change the download folder to internal memory?
2. Havin the same problem with the default bluetooth incoming folder
3. How do I check if i'm using the latest Opera version?
im using stock 1.93 wwe rom.
Thanks in advance...
If you just press open then it will download to a temp directory, but it should delete it after opera closes unless you keep it open when you close opera
maybe im usin an outdated version becoz whether the downloaded file is open or not it keeps a copy in
Code:
\windows\opera9\download
directory.
im using ver 9.5 build 1522

Bump. Looking for the same answer. Just realized there are a bunch of cab files in my Application Data\Opera9\download folder, even though I save my cab files to My Storage when asked.
you can change this by typing:
Code:
opera:config
in your adressbar in opera, you'll get a bunch of options there

Unfortunately, download location isn't one of them. I did figure this out via Download Squad.
Change your download directory:
1. Edit the Opera.ini file
2. Under [User Prefs] change "Download Directory=\My Documents\" to another directory on your device or storage card

My .ini file didn't have a download directory setting, so I created one.
Downloads pref
There's a "Save Dir" setting under Saved Settings in Opera:Config. I think that's what you're looking for.
Oddly, though, all my files seem to be going to \MUSIC, which I don't understand, especially since the Save Dir is set to \Windows\Opera9\download...
Anyone know what's going on with this?
Edit: Aha! Figured out my problem. In Opera:config, in the User Prefs section, there is a Download Directory setting which actually sets where things are downloaded. I'm not sure what the Save Dir setting does, especially since there seems to BE no \Windows\Opera9\download directory...
The problem is that only official builds ALWAYS support this feature, imho. F.e. 15954 doesn't saves the files into directory specified in "Download Directory" as default.
what works for me
Hi I realise this is an old thread but maybe some people, like me, are still searching for more memory on their Omnia.
Changing the download location for Opera didn't work for me - couldn't open the files once downloaded. So I kept the same folder and there are two ways to clear it.
1) when you finish looking at the attachment, it should bring you back to download screen, where you can select delete (sorry that's not much help)
2) easier - Download ClearTemp and change custom folder 1 to \Application Data\Opera 9\Downloads\. Added benefit that it clears other things that build up too. And there is a check box to clear automatically when you start up, so you don't even need to run the programme.
Another hint, when you can't get text messages through as there is not enough storage memory, go to task manager and end all tasks to free up a couple of megs (I find this also saves battery life).

anyone know what command brings up the memory program in settings? meaning in windows folder java.exe brings up java, camera.exe brings up the camera, i can't find a memory.exe or storage.exe so i was hoping someone around here might know what it is and what folder it's in.
I have a "running programs.lnk" but I think this is a file that came with Slithers cube.
Having said that \windows\start menu\programs\shortcuts\task manager.lnk seems to do the job...
hmm, i don't have "shortcuts" i'm just using a stock tilt rom, so i'm not sure where it's at. i've looked everywere. it's probably called something that i don't recognize. under \windows\start menu\settings\ is empty but when i go on the device i see all the apps in settings. i'm assuming it's somewhere around there.
22#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,4,2
is the link to open up the stock task/memory manager to the running programs tab, i've attached the lnk for your use
Just unzip and drop on your device where ever you desire....

thanks, that works, i don't suppose there's a way to get it to open up to the memory instead of tasks??
were is ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,4,2 located at? is it in the windows folder? i didn't see it, i did see ctlpnl.exe or what ever it was. i tried that one, but it didn't work.
22#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,4,0
Sure just change the number 2 to 0 at the end of the link (this is the number of tab to open (zero based))
cplmain.cpl exists in the /windows directory, it will be there its part of Windows Mobile, maybe you need to unhide all file types (or system files/dlls etc) as they maybe hidden....
Hope this helps...

The last digit of the string within the .lnk file thats in the zip file....
remebering to unzip the file and drop it onto your device (usually somewhere on the start menu/ today screen) i only zipped it up coz you cant upload .lnk files

Anyhow heres the modified lnk attached to open memory for you...

Awesome dude.
Pretty much what I was looking for some time.
Now, is there a way to backup this whole list, so we can restore it after flashing a new ROM?
Thanks!
can, lah...
select text in T9MyWords > copy > paste into a text file > save the text file in a save location (e.g. Sync Folder "My Documents" or Internal Storage).
After flashing a new ROM: select text in the text file > copy > paste into T9MyWords.

Sounds simple. Have ya tried it? Doesn't work bro. The text are placed line by line, not in a textbox.
Im thinking I could backup the following files:
\Windows\eT9Cdb.Cdb
\Windows\eT9Rudb.Rdb
Both of them contain words (and more) from the T9 list. Gonna do some reading up and see the significance of these files.
oops... I'm sorry. tweaking with more than one proggis at the moment....
BoogieCornejo has given following solution:
go to windows folder and save these 2 files. eT9Cdb.Cdb and eT9Rudb.Rdb. after hard reset rename the original files in windows folder to anything you want then copy your saved files to replace the renamed ones.start a message or any text document and add a word.you'll notice the words you stored from before the hard reset will still be there...
Olafson added one more file:
eT9Rudb.Rdb
eT9Cdb.Cdb
eT9AsDb.Adb
1) Copy files from windows to another location
2) Change attributes from read only to archive
3) Overwrite files in windows folder (Now the files are not in rom)
4) If are still read only you have to change again in Archive (Now you can because files are not in rom)
I did not try yet as I flashed my rom yesterday night
Sourceress, Thanks so much for this! I have been looking all over for a way to update my T9 dictionary to get rid of some annoying words! This exe is a mind saver!
Thanks really useful - why HTC doedsn't include this facility I've no idea!!
The program is simple but wonderful. I was looking for some ways to clear those words too.
I just downloaded the .exe and removed the word Im but for some reason when I use t9 it still uses Im when I type i then m instead of I'm with the capital I and apostrophe. Any ideas why?
Really a big big thanks for this posting. Fantastic program, awesome!!!
none of these two files works for me... that's strange!
Thanks a lot.It works fine. I look for something like that for a long time

Are you sure it freezes? Mine just takes *ages* to finish that stage.
But yes, delete that folder and you'll be able to rebuild your library from scratch.

Delete the folder (that he said above) via file explorer. You can usually find the folder in the root of your storage card. Works everytime. G/L.
unable to find the hidden folder WMDRM, used the search program on my phone asnd still no luck . do i have to sync my tilt and delete it thru the cpu.
If you are using the standard file explorer, make sure that you have the "show all files" option switched on.
i wish it was that simple
yeah it is. win i pulled up winrar to un rar a file i saw it as a folder but i can't get to it. still haven't sync phone, @ wrk

after this it updating says it found 2087 files but only adds the file save to the phone not the memory card. doeas this sound familiar to any one
yeah use Total Commander or another "good" file explorer. & remove the "WMDRM" folder... it should be in the root folder of your SD card...
even then, if you have a TON of mp3's you may have to wait 5 minutes while it updates... I've had to reboot when it freezes & its hard to tell when its just taking forever & when its frozen :S
If that STILL doesn't work, try putting your files back on your desktop computer, then put your SD card in your computer, and re-transferring them that way.
Hope that helps
I have this problem with Opera Mobile 9.5 where I try to download a cab file to install on my phone but it instead opens the cab file as text. There isn't a "Save file as" option in the menus so how can I download the cab file without opening it as text?
Type in opera:config and check through the settings, or you could reinstall.
Guys I am having this problem also and need to fix it.
The thing is when I type :config in Opera and try to log into settings nothing happens. Please how can I remove that **** Opera off my phone?????????
Need to install all the cabs that I need...
Any help would be appreciated, thanks
I have never had any problem downloading anything with Opera... Actually, I tend to try and use Opera to download with because it's download manager works so well.
It sounds like you have a setting off somewhere in your phone... probably with Opera, assuming you can download with IE just fine.
Also, you want to type in the address bar "opera:config" without the quotation marks, and that is where you will find the advanced settings that control downloads with Opera.
As well, maybe try downloading a different version of Opera? I like this one:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/ywydu3iczxn/WM6_PPC_HTC_Opera9-build_15954_WWE_QVGA.CAB
That is not what I mean.
I downloaded files throught my PC, hooked Omnia to it and copied the files to the phone's SDcard.
The cab files of all progs are "branded" Opera. meaning if you want to run them, they open through Opera and not execute style. Got it?

Ah, ok... I don't think that is the same problem they were having... I don't know what the solution to that would be, since a .cab file is an .exe file written to run a PPC, thus when you click on it, it should run itself without any other program opening it...
I would say try downloading the cab files directly on to your phone with the built in browser, save them to your memory card of course...
But if you are copying a .cab file on to your phone, and using file explorer to launch it, there is no reason it shouldn't work, it is a self executing file that doesn't look for a mother program to run it... Unless somehow you have managed to change them so that they try and open with Opera, either through your phone settings or properties of the cab itself type thing.
I think I have no choice but to disable or uninstall Opera in some way.
If someone can help me to do this, I think I can manage with the cab files then...
I don't think that will fix your problem. Those files will still be linked to Opera. And if Opera is part of your ROM, you can't uninstall it... actually even if you loaded it yourself, unless you did one of the uninstallable versions, it can't be uninstalled...
At this point, it would help if you gave more information:
What, if any mods, you have done to your phone?
What program did you use to copy the files to the SD card?
Where did you get the cab files?
Heck, what cab files are they?
These mods:
http://www.samsung-omnia.org/how-to/howwhatwherewhichwhywhen/
And the cab files are related to advanced configuration tools, Omnia patched dialler, SPB mobile shell and a couple others.
You might want to ask that forum for assitance? It looks like they are pretty dedicated to the Omnia, which most everyone here does not have one. This forum is for the HTC Kaiser specifically, and the site as a whole is dedicated to HTC devices. Perhaps post in the general section of this site, but I think you will have better luck with the omnia site you got all of your cabs from.
In general, without having screen shots, or hands on knowledge of the cab files you are trying to use, about all I can say(and anybody really) in this forum is that there is something corrupt with the .cab files or your file explorer is corrupted. I would bet the .cab files are corrupted, and that somewhere along the way you did something wrong. Maybe you skipped a step in the whole process, and Opera is coming up not because they are tagged to run through Opera, but because it is suggesting to search for something using your default browser.
It really is hard to say, but I would suggest asking that forum for some support. Also, I would flat out re-download all the cabs straight to your phone from the site, not your computer. This will make sure you don't have any issues with the sync process. As well, save them to the root of you SD card, in other words not in a folder.
Sometime i got this problem but it seem it happen when the page is not fully loaded
Do you open cab files through Opera?
Open link in new tab
Hi
I have also had this problem with opera version 9.5.16277. I have found a couple of work arounds:
1) Tap and hold on the link and then select "Open in new tab"
2) Tap and hold on the link and select "Copy link location". Then manually open a new tab and paste the address into the address bar.
I have found that if 1) above does not work 2) will.
Cheers

Sometimes it's the website itself.
For example, for Josh's Test ROM, if we click directly (even on PC) on the link, it'll open the zip file on the page. I had to 'right-click' and 'save the link as' to save the file.
It might be some code on the page ..
Input the two .reg files to the registry, should just solve the problem. You can use any regiedit tools or taskmgr.exe or total command to do it. If don't know how, please search some info first.

The above is my answer to origional poster of this thread.
But since this thread is already goes to off-topic, I would also write my comments:
Opera opens compressed file as text on page, is a big bug for opera software, it happens to both its mobile and desktop vdersions. But latest releases of Opera Mobile seems have some progress on this issue, although still can not completely avoid it.
Just downloaded Opera 10 Beta 2 and am having the following problem:
With the preloaded version Opera opens to the following page file://localhost/home with the Opera 10 I get an error telling me that it cant open or find this (i dont want to go there anyway) Where can I find the files to fix or remove this I would like to open to either my yahoo.homepage or the bookmark page. Thank you in advance!

i know typing in "about:config" in the browser brings up some customizable user configurations but I am not sure which one does what quite yet.
same problem as you can solve?
This is the link with the error
file://localhost/http://www.google.it
thanks
Anyone find a fix for this? It is really annoying. I love opera 10, thought deleting the previous version would fix and it doesn't. Any advice?

prepare filename named "home" (without extension) with this content:
Code:
<html>
<head>
<meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=SOME_URL_HERE">
</head>
</html>
replace SOME_URL_HERE with webpage you want to open and copy this file to root directory of your device (not root of card)
after opening opera from TF3D it will redirect to page set in this file - no more /localhost/home error
woo hooooooo, no more file://localhost/home error!
postak05, you are a genius regarding the file://localhost/home problem! That concept works and it requires a little work to implement it.
Here is what i did: I created a text file named "home.txt" on a desktop computer using Notepad with the following text:
<html>
<head>
<meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=link_starting_with_http">
</head>
</html>
I then saved the text file on my desktop and emailed it from my desktop to myself. I then opened my touch pro 2 email program, and saved the attached file to "memory". Then I had to use the file explorer on the phone to copy the emailed file from the "My Documents" folder to root (My Device). Now the tricky part. The emailed file has a .txt extension that is by nature not shown to the user in the windows mobile 6.5 OS. I had to download and install a program called "Total Commander 2.52" ( select the arm version of the Devices with touch screen (Total Commander Pocket+PocketPC Phone). The program allows you to rename and strip the .txt extension off the file so that it can be found by Opera 10.0. I would have posted the link to Total Commander but the forum would not allow.
Even if you strip .txt extension from the beginning using the desktop, once you email it to your phone, WM6.5 still assigns at the least a "." resulting in a file named "home." which Opera still cannot find or use.
I'm still not sure why Opera needs this file upon startup . . . the icon panel page would be great to see and not have to deal with an additional tag opening file://localhost/home.

Ok Well I have the problem that when I try to open a link from a email, it will open Opera no problem, but puts file://LocalHost/ in at the start everytime. Anyone know why?
so it will show file://LocalHost/http://www.msn.com
