Hello,
When i am trying to set a windows mobile, or any other ring tone that's on my phone defaulted, they aren't there. As in
I click on sound setting, incoming call on the drop down, and then when i click on tone, none of my songs are there..
BUTT
When i click on incoming text message, and search, all the songs are on the drop down!
How can i get my songs to my incoming call instead of text message?!
Thanks, Tiler
Where are the files stored?
what rpm version are you using? Are you trying to set the whole song as a ringtone? I had a similar issue and solved it by using MP3 trimmer to trim down a song to a specific time or section. Then placing that file under 'my ringtones' under 'my documents'...
im storing them under my storage card. then i cut them and put them in the ringtone folder in the phones memory. Just dont understand why the other defaulted songs are not allowed to be a ringtone either.
Are you running an AT&T ROM? They limit the max size of a ringtone to 600k.
I store all of my ringtones in \Storage Card\My Documents\My Ringtones\ and I never have an issue with them not showing up. However, any files you want to use for alerts need to be in \Windows\.
yeah im just runnin the att rom so it must just eb the file sizes are to large. Just am not understanding the fact i can set the song as my txt tone, but the ringtone i cant. Ill investigate more and try out more variations of where im storing them, file size, etc.

I tried searching and did not see a similar topic, so I am posting this new one.
I have tried to move a ringtone to \windows\rings
I have tried to adapt the registry setting to change the ring directory to a different place
I have confirmed that I am using the Ring option for the Ring Type, as opposed to Vibrate or any of the other settings under the settings-->phone menu--I do see the ring tone options and have tried the windows ones as well
Any other suggestions I can try to enable ringing?
i put my ring tones in ram disk.(wave files)
Thank you for your reply. I tried to switch my ringtone folder to Storage Card and RamDisk--though the ringtones appeared as options, they would not play when the phone rang.
Are there other things I can try?
i just put ring tone in ram folder.
not ring tone folder in ram.and used wav file.not mp3.

what media type is your ringtone? wav, mp3, wma? all of these types can be used when located in \windows, \windows\rings, \Ramdisk root & \Storage Card root.
may i suggest trying out one of the default PPC ringtones if it plays when moved into any of the directories above.

I tried moving copies of the files into the folders you mentioned--it showed the duplicates as options for the ringtones, but unfortunately did not work. I used the oldphone.wav. Any other ideas?

thought you whould have change the name a little
like putting a 1 in front of the tone name.
I just ended up reinstalling the ROM. Not sure what the cause was... as I uninstalled everything I added... Oh well... all is good now...
Hey, guys. I have a storage card with a folder called "Music" on it. There is all my music. How can I set a .mp3 as ring tone without any software? Kaiser has this option, but it always needs to copy the .mp3 file, that I want as ring tone in the main memory in "My Music". I think there's a registry tweak to do this... does somebody know how?
What I want: on the today screen in Sounds to be able to chose a .mp3 from my storage as ring tone without to copy it to the main memory.
I hope you understand me.. sorry for my terrible English.
Thanks.
I think I have seen this option change in SK Tools
Do it using Audio Manager
Audio Manager has this option to use any song as Ringtone.
It even has a function where you can Select the in-out points for the ringtone in a song.
This is driving me mad! For the life of me my Kaiser won't let me change the phone's ringtone from the standard. When I open an MP3 in audiomanager then choose set as ringtone, I get the error message "there was an error copying the ring tone to \my documents\ my ringtones. The ringtone could not be set. Please verify you have enough room on your device and try again", i've even tried manually copying mp3's to the \my ringtones directory, I can view them but they don't play in the ringtone selection screen (they play OK in audiomanager), even if I select a different mp3 in the sounds and notifications screen and select OK, my kaiser defaults automatically back to the standard ringtone. Oh, there's loads of space free as well - about 47mb.
Any ideas?
mp3 extension
Did you change the program for the .mp3 extension?
I noticed the same behaviour when I assigned the mp3 extensions to MortPlayer:
my ringtone would revert back to the default and choosing the mp3 ringtone wouldn't work.
After unchecking the mp3 extension within MortPlayer, I could choose a mp3 ringtone again.
Thanks a lot dude - will give this a go.
where can i download a app, that set the wav. file as a ringtone or messages alert?? can you give me some links. thanks in advance..
are you dislike mp3 ? )
Use ur laptop to send the .wav file to ur X1 through bluetooth. And then u can see the wav file in the ringtone list
making the wav into mp3 would dec it's size by a factor 11 though
The best software to encode between mp3 and .wav is free CDEx.
I use it all the time in profi usage.
With 320kbps mp3 you get perfect quality without any loss for a ringtone.
well for ring tones I would advise mono and a pretty low Kb/sec as the speaker in most devices don't really do high quality audio much justice
Put it in either the My Documents folder on your device or in Storage Card\My Documents and it'll show up in the ringtone list.
Works for mp3, wma, wav, mid etc

Nope. It works in My Documents as well, even on a card. Try it!
Is there a way to set a MP3 as our voicemail notification sound?
Yes, you can have an mp3 as your notification sound
Find the mp3 you wnt and browse to your SD card. There should be a media folder there. Open the MEdia folder, then Audio, then Notifications
Drop the mp3 there
Unmount the Sd card then check your notifications. You should have that mp3 in there. Select it and yer good to go
You may want to shrink that mp3 into just a snippit of the whole song though. Getting a text message and having a song play would start to piss me off pretty fast since i get a lot of texts.
