Unable to remove program logo - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi,
I installed opera mini on to my diamond (on the device storage and NOT on internal storage). I didn't like the browser so decided to uninstall it. However, I still have the 'e' java logo for the browser in my programs, and can't for the life of me figure out how to remove it!! Can anyone please advise how to remove it?

Anyone? I tried a hard reset but that didn't get rid of the problem!
Thanks

Are you sure that the 'e' like icon is not of JBlend,(which is the Java Platform used to run all your Java apps on the phone)?
If it came installed with the ROM, which it normally does, it will not be un-installed even on a hard-reset.
By the way, what happens when you click on that icon? Do you have any other Java apps installed, which you can see?

\windows\start menu\programs
and delete the shortcuts you dont want

Annoying remnants of uninstalled programs

First of all, I am very very satisfied witj my TyTN II.
Video playback WAS an issue for me (as a AV professional), but I am absolutely satisfied after installing CorePlayer and looking forward to the upgrade to version 1.2 of that program.
Other programs were less to my liking and after evaluation I decided to uninstall them using the uninstall utility of MS Active Sync.
But some of these programs simply refuse to uninstall. So I still have a shortcut to the Feedreader program News Gato in my programs map and I cannot get rid of it.
Even more annoying is the Spite Backup program that came with the TyTN II on CD, which I uninstalled, but still givbes me a warning at startup that the file Sprite.exe cannot be found.
DO ANY OF YOU HAVE A CLUE HOW I SHOULD CLEAN UP?
Thanks!
I know what you mean about annoying programmes which won't disapear when they are uninstalled.
One of them for me is a windows live messenger version which I installed. I couldn't get rid of it by softresetting so I had to do the hard reset.
Moreover, PointUI is anothe programme that when uninstalled, still remains on my programme list. Because of this, I had to also hard reset my device.
The hard reset function is the only solution I know that will rid me of troublesome remnants of programmes...
Try SKtools its a good program and has a few features that clean up your registry and it also has an uninstaller better then the one provided by windows. Don't know if it'll work, but worth a shot.
I had the same problem with Sprite - at their web site I found the following fix, which worked for me:
To uninstall everything from your device and PC please follow these steps;
To remove from your device;
1. Use File Explorer to delete the entire folder on your device;
"\Program Files\Sprite Software" if Sprite Backup was installed on device
or
"\Storage Card\Program Files\Sprite Software" if installed on storage card
2. Use a registry editor (e.g. www.phm.lu) for Windows Mobile device to delete the following key in the registry on your device;
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sprite Software\Sprite Backup]
3. Please also delete the following link file if it exists:
- My Device\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Sprite Backup(.lnk)
To uninstall from your PC;
Steps for manually removing ALL Sprite Software entries from your PC. Please follow these steps carefully to manually remove all Sprite Backup software;
1. Click Start> Run on your PC and type "Regedit" in the bar
2. Delete the following keys;
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\AppMgr\Apps\Sprite Software Sprite Backup]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sprite Software\Sprite Backup]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{D8FD4D0D-E171-4FFC-91CE-BA38EEAC5E06}]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sprite Software\Sprite Backup]
3. Close the Registry Editor
4. Use Windows Explorer to delete these folders;
C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{D8FD4D0D-E171-4FFC-91CE-BA38EEAC5E06}
C:\Program Files\Sprite Software\Sprite Backup
C:\Program Files\Sprite Software\Sprite Explorer
This will uninstall everything related to Sprite Backup.

I tried that same application ths morning and 2 hours later I was uninstalling it. It looked cool, but my internet was painfully slow, and the gestures were all backwards. To get the menu to slide left, you had to slide your finger right on the screen. The hardware keys didn't work, and then when the application locked up on me that was it. The only way out I found was to hit the end key repeatedly until it finally exited. Then the uninstall instructions didn't work. I think that could be a fine program once it is refined, but right now it was a pain.

I know what you mean about the gestures being in reverse. This took a while to get used to.
By the way, I had the previous blue version installed on my Kaiser, not the latest black version. I suppose I could give it anothe go, but I can't be bothered to do another hard reset if I don't like the programme and want it fully removed
But yes, I do agree that it would be a good programme once all the little technicalities are fixed. I still do like the normal windows 6 UI, after installing Dutty's CAB which makes the start menu bigger

Dutty's enlarged start menu is fantastic. I can navigate the start menu w/o my stylus. One of the best, easiest, and most useful mods out there!

I tried SK Tools...and it did the job!
Thanks for the tip

Tilt uninstalls programs, but not really...

OK, so it seems that just about every time i want to uninstall/upgrade a program on my tilt (not cracked, only bypassed the att crapification...er, customization).
what happens is, certain programs (most recently cetwit) will not fully uninstall when i goto remove them from remove programs. it says this and asks if i wish to remove the program from the list of installed programs, and i usually say yes. that program is still listed when i goto start/programs, and the program files are still safe and secure in the program files folder through file explorer.
the worst part is, when i try to reinstall/install an updated version, it shows two icons in my programs list, which is very frustrating...enough so that it causes me to hard reset and reinstall everything over again. i've run registry and junk file cleaners to no avail.
is there any way to COMPLETELY remove a program in this situation, or am i required to hard reset each time it happens?
maybe here i will also ask for a good registry cleaner that knows what to kill and what to leave...
sktools wiped out some important things, had to hard reset and start over because even my backup app couldnt fully recover.
Get a file explorer, delete the program's folder in Program files, delete the shortcut in the start menu and most of it is done. You can then use a reg cleaner to remove the last remains in the registry.
That has happened to me with a couple of programs, I'd blame the programs rather than WM.
I have a similar issue. I've removed the program folders, shortcuts, registry entries, etc. but the programs still appear in the remove programs list under settings / system. Although it's not causing me any problems per se it is really annoying. If anyone knows how to fix it I'd love to know.
on pc's the list in add/remove
is
located in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
would asume that they are stored in reg on pda's too
I've had that happen a few times also, what usually fixed it besides manually deleting the folders and shortcuts, is to remove it in add/remove programs in activesync. Just check the box that says to delete from handheld and desktop.
I've tried that - using AS to remove the applications - but it still doesn't work. They all show up with a size of 0.0K but removing the tick in the box and selecting the remove from both device and computer option does nothing - they still show up in the list on both devices.

programs uninstaller!

I tried searching the board but didnt find any appropriate link regarding this..
anyway there are some factory programs loaded that I dont need/use, is there a way to remove them to free up RAM?
uninstall
if you are referring to uninstallation tts similar to uninstalling a program on windows...
then u can find it under Start >>> Settiings.. not the tf3d's settings but the one under windows mobile
there should be a icon called REMOVE PROGRAMS under the SYSTEM tab..
alternatively, you could run activesync and under program management untick the relevant programs and it will uninstall on its next sync

im talking about the stock programs...not anything that I installed. I'm talking about the factory loaded programs like windows live, bubble breaker, internet explorer, RSS hub, etc. I want to remove those to free up space.
its called cooking your own ROM..
you can have certain things not load up by doing a soft-reset when the auto-config pops up on 1st boot after ROM upgrade or hard-reset..
but then you gotta go find the cabs for the stuff that you want

what program exactly, because I believe that some of them have this problem
programs
MAME CE3 and Concrete software bowling, i have uninstalled them no problem but it wont remove the from the add remove list and i dont know how to, thanks.
In similar cases, I use SKTools, an excellent program.
Here is the link http://s-k-tools.com/index.html?sktools/m_feat.html
I want to know why certain programs don't uninstall 100% even when it was installed and uninstalled correctly meaning the name still shows in the list as installed and there's no file traces left.
I have installed the SK Tools, but I cant seem to find how to do it, any instruction or fixes pls, thanks
In the registry, HKLM\Software\Apps if I remember well.
nope, apps still showing in "remove programs list" even though they were uninstalled like anything else

Before starting, I would recommend a backup, just in case.
On the main SKT opening screen, go to
- left soft key "Category"
- select "Maintenance"
- select "Installed Programs"
- after a short search, SKT displays the list of all your installed apps
- when you point your stylus on the app you want to completely delete, you will see all its installed components in the lower half of the screen (a good thing at this point is to make a screen capture so in the worst case you can manually delete the remains, but normally it shouldn't be necessary, SKT usually doing a better removal job than the default remover)
- make sure that all boxes are unchecked, except the one you want to delete, and then go to left soft key "Action" and select "Uninstall marked".
I always just go into File Explorer/Windows/Start Menu/Programs
Then remove broken links from there.
He means removing the entries from the add/remove programs panel, not the start menu.
Tried this and no go any other ideas guys, the sk tools might be ok if i had programs installed, i might install them again and then uninstall via sktools see how that goes. any other ides.
sktools can remove it, but it is always on uninstall list!!

I have found the solution to the various posts listed on not being able to get rid of an uninstalled prog in the remove progs window. Using MemMaid 2.3 go jump to/databases/database usage, highlight SwMgmtMetadataStore and click browse, highlight offending entry and delete it. Then do and soft reset and you will find that the prog is no longer in the remove prog window. Hope this helps.

Accessing Add/Remove appz without going to settings (WM Settings screen is crashing)

How would I go through with accessing to remove MS Voice Command from the kaiser without opening the main settings window. I installed a few applications (i.e., TouchFlo 2, Youtube, HTC Audio Manager, PTTfix and MS Voice Command 1.6) on my friends Kaiser running WM6.1. All of these programs work fine on mine (WM 6.0), but now on his the phone reboots everytime you click on settings int he start menu. The only thing I can guess thats causing it is MS Voice Command since it creates an Icon in the Settings window.
I need to either A) find a way to manually remove the icon maybe...if that could work, or B) manually find a way to uninstall voice command.
I am hoping I can fix it without him having to do a hard reset on the phone losing all his stuff.
Thanks.

You can uninstall software with SKTools. Download a trial version from Handango and try it. If you like it, buy it! My guess is you will probably have to do a hard reset anyway to clean up that mess.
Ill do that. I'll use SKtools on his phone to remove MS Voice Command next week.
Has anyone else had this problem? It would be great for him to have Voice Command. He's been drooling over the feature on mine so long. Now that he finally has a kaiser, he can't use it because it doesn't want to work on his. No fun.
Another easy way would be to use Activesync Add/Remove Programs feature on a connected computer
I don't think he has access to a computer but I will keep that one in mind. We hadn't even had a chance to use the sktools option yet since he got sick so I haven't seen him around in a bit.
I really wish the program would have worked :/ I might try reinstalling it again ontop of itself....could do the trick. Maybe the program corrupted itself the first time some how.

This is, this is 1.6 and there is nothing newer
You could also simply create a shortcut/link that goes directly to the Add/Remove Programs settings screen.
Try putting this code in a .lnk file:
Code:
Settings>System>Remove Programs = 21#ctlpnl cplmain.cp,10
It will allow you to bypass the main Settings screen that crashes.
