n00b question

hello, im new to the forum.
i have a 02 xda mini. I want to upgrade the software due to problems. i have done the general download from htc software but i want to upgrade it.
What is the best software to put on it? It is unlocked and i have cingular, i updated it with the 8125 software because i couldnt find anything else till i found this forum.

Ok, well, there is no telling what the BEST software is, just read through the forums, alot of people offer there own versions of the updates, and decide which on is safest for you to update with and stuff...

haha Okay. Is there anything you could suggest? like WM6 or something that is pretty bug free? i dont really understand the kitchen thing and i dont know how to cook my own...

I advise you two to do an exhaustive search as there are several threads pointing to official ROM links. What you're doing here is creating unnecessary threads and making search harder for yourselves and others...

Apologies mestrini for cluttering up the board but I have searched long and hard for an official Qtek ROM ...googled, searched rapidshare but alas it appears from your comment that I'm missing it. I have also tried joining the myqtek forum but when I enter my IMEI it says it is not from Brightstore so again I can't get at the ROM's.
If you would be so kind as to send me a PM I promise to go away and leave you all be!

Feel free to change the title Mestrini ...if it helps others find what they're looking for then I say all the better. finding what you're looking for is directly related to the keywords you search on and sometimes you just go round in circles before you find things ...or worse still you fail to find anything at all.

BTW: I tried that file last night and it won't let me use it because it says I'm already at a higher level ...i.e. 2.26 IPL & SPL. I need to downgrade so that's my next search criteria.

Hmmm couch splutter I APOLOGISE UNRESERVEDLY TO THE FORUM. I read the definitive guide once more and tried Xda_MiniS_LaunchROM_v154102.exe from the link provided and bugga me ...my brick is no more!

getting rid of vodafone ROM to standard HTC rom - can someone help

Hi there,
I've never updated a phone ROM before, so am pretty slow at all this.
Just received my Touch Pro 2 today and gutted to see that Vodafone have put their own software on it.
Is there any way that I can get back to the standard HTC ROM?
Appreciate any help. Thanks.

As soon as the Hard SPL is released, you can change it. Until then.. you just have to wait! Sorry!

a) I don't know what Hard SPL is - can you explain, or link me somewhere?
b) do you have any idea when this might be ready?
c) will I be able to do this on my vodafone device or is there any chance it'll screw it all up and break it?
d) is it easy to do?!

a. Hard SPL is what is needed to flash any device.
b. It'll be ready when it's ready - can't say more than that.
c. You can do this on any Rhodium device, chances of breaking it are slim if you read and follow the instructions.
d. See c.

Mega ROM for Jade ...?

Hey guys,
althought pretty busy these days, I downloaded all neccessary equipment and read a lot in order to cook my own ROM with all the leaked Mega goodies (like the new TouchFLO). But it seems its not as easy as I thought (click-click-flash?) and requires a lot of work and knowledge.
But since the Mega is also QVGA and pretty similar to our Jade, it couldnt be that hard, right?
So I ask the chefs in this Jade forum, is someone already porting and cooking? It seems that more an more Jade-chefs leave us here alone..

I've seen the Mega pack, too and thought about cooking a ROM, but i got absolutely no knowlegde about how to cook ROMs......
I've discovered a really good german instruction today and maybe i'll try as soon as i got time to do it.
I'd really appreciate if u'd accomplish cooking a ROM with the new Mega pack and would like to be beta tester or give u some help if possible!

I'm downloading the MEGA rom from that link posted and will post a link where you can download it FAST... its coming down at a very slow 20k a sec atm

to that link i had posted before.
im using it since yesterday and its ok, stable, fast and especialy nice. but!!! not all reg setting are preinstalled so my (slovakia) is not ther. ok i can use US setting but real problem is calendar. im living in year 2009 and my phone in year 2552
maybe thai calendar dont know. the worst thing is that some programs are ending with error and in details is something about problems with calendar. so... i can live without g-alarm and phone log for now but will try to solve it later.

Im sorry if this has already been mentioned somewhere here but I cannot find it. I have Slovak T-Mobile MDA Compact V.The question is how can I change the WinMobile to 6.5,TouchFlo?The original is full of bugs.Right now I dont care anymore losing guarantee.Which ROM is best?Why? And how to install.Im a total newbie so have patience please.

if u want to upgrade just save whatever u need on ur actual device and then flash a new ROM - RADIO
