Hi guys and girls.
I finally plucked up courage to install WM5 and suprisingly, it worked like a charm! not one single problem
There is one cherry on the top that would be very nice if anyone can help.
On the today screen there is a nice little bluetooth icon in the bottom right hand corner; is there any way to get a wifi icon next to it instead if having to go into start > Settings > connections > WLAN to turn it on?
Appreciate any suggestions offered.
Cheers
J
can someone please send me the orginal wirelessmgr.exe file? i tried to load the wirelessmgr.exe from the universal and now i cant turn wireless on or off
Codiac, I have taken a hotkey (camera, I don't use that much anyway, but any key would do) and mapped that to WLAN_MAN. Works very nicely, but I hope there will be a fix for the dissappearing WLAN (and BT, even though that doesn't matter that much to me since I never turn off the unit when I'm using anything BT) in the near future.
I never thought of that works spot on now
Must remember in future to engage brain before fingers :?
Cheers Mastiff

I added the program into O2plus apps tab

Codiac... how did you get the bluetooth icon on the Today screen? I just upgraded to Mamaich's Patch 5 but I don't have a bluetooth icon
me too..i can't see the bt icon and sometimes i quicly need of it..how can i show it?
Read the Wiki about missing files, patches number 1: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_WM5_Patches_ChangeLog
This is wierd?!?
After I did the upgrade the nice little BT icon was on the today screen, never bothered with it because BT is useless. Read these posts and had a look to see if I could work out how it got there and it has dissapeared?!?
The only thing I can think of is that I accidentally uninstalled one of the patches downloaded from wiki.
ill try and get it back on and let you know how I did it
Cheers

OOPs, sorry should have read Mastiffs post properly first
Mastiff is right, you need to install ba_wm5_fix_v1
Cheers

Well I've installed the BA_wm5 patch, but still have wifi problems. On 2003 my BA used to turn on wifi every time i turned on the unit, great as i have wifi at home and at work, now it always defaults to off and I have to switch it on every time I've turned off my BA. It's driving me nuts as I use email via wifi at work all day. Is there any way to get the wifi always on? Please....?
That's what I've been *****in' about for more than a week now...
Surely there's a way to default wifi to on, here's hoping somebody works it out before i downgrade to 2003.
i douwngraded to wm2003se..wifi on wm5 don't work at all..dosn't connect on my AP (on wm2003se is very fast)..so..because i need it i'll wait a more stable version..perhaps backlight regolation will be fixed
Backlight regulation was fixed more than a week ago! And I don't really know why you have WiFi problems, I have only one problem, that it defaults to off.

The default to off is the problem. I use my BA for work only. At home I use my wifi network to access work schedule appointments, and when in the office I use their wifi hotspot. At present i am having to tun on wifi realistically around a hundred times a day to update my joblist.
Is there a way to add any sort of utility to startup to turn it on at power on maybe?
I've tried everything to make my WiFi work but no luck.
However, I think I'll hold on because I really like WM5. I've ran through all the registry setting but nothing I've tried so far has made a difference. Enev tried downgrading the encryption settings on my MIMO. Furthermore, when I take off SSID broadcast, my BA seems to be able to see the AP but still fails to connect.
It's really annoying because I like to synchronize Avantgo over WiFi and most importantly use my BA when I'm in the bathroom doing you know what. Somebody please help!
Hey Mastiff, what security settings have you got enabled on your Access Point?

Cytrax, did you install activesync 4 to upgrade your rom? You can't sync by wifi on activesync 4 at all, they've removed the option from the program!
cytrax, I have 64 kbit WEP and MAC access control since the 128 kbit WEP was slow to access with another CE unit I have.
Thanks for that info, mastiff.
OK, this is wierd! At this particular point, WiFi works on my BA. However, it only works when I'm at work. The settings configured on Work AP is very similar to what I've got at home. The only difference is I use Netgear MIMO at home while Buffulo Airstation is deployed at work. This is really freaking me out (well, not exactly, but it's annoying).
I also tried with an old Belkin AP last night but didn't get any luck. I think I'm going to try 64bit WEP once I reach home. Watch this space!

I can successfully use the machine as a modem on 2003SE, but like you, so far it has been a no-go to use it as a modem under WM5.
Then I thought:
Is that the ONLY way to make my PC use the GPRS connection to browse the web?
NO!
Windows can do ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) since windows 98, and windows mobile is a Windows CE tailored for, well, mobiles.
I digged into MSDN looking for info on whether CE had ICS capabilities or not. Turns out YES, it has.
Now, if we can find out how to enable it, we can make a BT PAN to the PC, and use the routing/NAT capabilities of CE/WM5 to browse the web.
Now, look at this, which I got on MSDN, my comments are in italic:
<snip>
Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2
Enabling NAT
The following steps show how to enable NAT for a Windows CE-based device using IPv4.
To enable NAT
1. Enable IP forwarding by setting the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Tcpip\Parms\IpEnableRouter registry key equal to 1.
2. Set the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnectionSharing\EnableAddressTranslation registry key equal to a non-zero value.
3. Set the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnectionSharing\PublicInterface registry key to the public interface on which you want to enable NAT. now, where do I find THIS value?-->This value should contain a string that indicates the adapter instance for a network card, or that indicates the RAS connection name for a dial-up connection.
Now the key is where do we find the 'adapter instance or RAS connection name', so that we can try this solution.
NAT mappings expire after a certain amount of time if the mappings are not used. The default expiration time is 24 hours for TCP connections, and 1 minute for UDP mappings. You can configure these expiration times by setting registry subkeys contained under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\IPNat registry key.
The following table shows optional registry subkeys that you can use to configure these expiration times.
Code:
Code:
Subkey Description
TCPTimeoutSeconds_ Specifies the amount of time before TCP mappings expire in the NAT, if the mappings are not used.
UDPTimeoutSeconds Specifies the amount of time before UDP mappings expire in the NAT, if the mappings are not used.
</snip>
Which can be found here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wceics/html/ceconEnablingNAT.asp
The advantage of this solution is that we won't have to stop using the PDA and opening a program to make a notebook navigate the web while on the move. In short, we cut off some bureaucracy from our connection management.

I'm looking into this now. It's possible the device name needed for the registry is similar to windows naming i.e. a string. For example, on my pc here I have several interfaces listed via "ipconfïg" such as "Ethernet adapter BT". When you manually drop/request an IP using this command, you use this string as a parameter (quoted IIRC). Looking in vxUtil under info we have several possible candidates. The seems to be a naming convention in all of the names listed with a " - " separator and two parts. Some don't have the latter part so it's a possiblity that it's vxUtil that's printing them like that and we only need the alternatives.
However, vxIpConfig has a drop-down list with all of the active connections that may seem like a better candidate for these values. I note that the BT one is "BTPAN1". The number suggests to me that these are unique values.
Here's what I think may be a possibility (from vxIpConfig):
WiFi: tiacxwln1
BT: BTPAN1
GPRS didn't appear in ipconfig even while I was downloading mail. According to vxUtil, the "current IP" listed was the same as the one listed under "Cellular Line". Hmm, not sure about that one.
Using either method, the wifi and BT ones are the same. I'm going to try this first as it should be easier.
Another thing; along with the key "Public Interface" in the registry, there is also a "Private Interface" key that may need set. The unset value may mean "all" however. That probably isn't desirable in the long term.
WRT to the packet filtering, the default on win2000 and pre SP2 XP for the basic network filter is "allow all" as far as I can understand. We probably want to switch that off just now.
I'm experimenting with a setup just now. I've got the laptop connected to a BT pan network to the phone. I've got the phone hooked up to my wifi network which routes to the net. Once ICS is running, all I should need to do is launch a "route add" command on the laptop to instruct it to send traffic to unknown networks (the default route) to make it go via BT.
If I can hit www.google.com's IP we are over the biggest hurdle. Let's see how it goes, will post back after playing around.
Once done, we don't need to bother with a dhcpd as I suggested in the other topic. That's done for us by the BT pan. However, I'm not sure if it deals with DNS so I recommend that if anyone is trying this that they stick to hitting remote ip addresses only. That's the first step that needs to be established. The phone may need a default route set, but I suspect that will be done if you can already route out over the wifi network.
EDIT:
OK, no success yet. Setting IP address manually on the BT PAN allowed me to ping the phone. The default route was set to the BT IP and the pc attempted to connect over that interface. As far as I could tell from the (limited) msdn docs on this topic, I had it enabled. I also tried changing "disabled on boot" to "0" with no success.
With the BT interface on the pc set as DHCP, I could not get an IP. According to http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...en-us/wceics/html/_wcecomm_dhcp_allocator.asp , the mini dhcp server is limited but to be honest it seems to have most of the options you'd expect from an ICS one, even going so far as allowing static hostname/ip allocation. Interesting, that's a useful feature. I mention this because I could not get an IP. I suspect that the problem is that I simply haven't enabled ICS at all.
Are there any applications that anyone can think of that use ICS internally? ActiveSync probably does, but it'll be the pc doing the dhcp bit I'd presume. How about someone who has BT/GPRS running on another device? Can they share their related registry settings (while connected) for the keys that joe mentioned? What would be best would be the whole set of keys for:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Tcpip\Parms\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnectionSharing\

Actually I think it is the other way around: The BA assigning an IP address to the PC.
If I look in the IP config after I connect my BA, I see this:
Code:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 2:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Windows Mobile-based Device #2
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 80-00-60-0F-E8-00
Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 169.254.2.2
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 169.254.2.1
Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Thursday, September 14, 2006 11:15:37
Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Saturday, October 14, 2006 11:15:37
What would look to me that the BA is the DHCP server.
Looking in Settings\Network Cards on the BA, I see the Network card "Remote-NDIS Host" is in use with the above IP address.
So, maybe there is (limited) DHCP server allready in the WM5 OS? I guess the OS gurus may know the answer about it.
There is a mini-dhcp server, it's listed in the docs. Yes, looks like the BA is doing it under ActiveSync like you say. I'll take a look tonight at the reg keys while I've got an active activesync session going. However, using activesync doesn't enable ICS on the phone I'd imagine, so perhaps they are separate systems. I was presuming they were part of the same thing in the same way that ICS works on 2000/XP.
The DHCP server isn't required, but it saves you having to deal with manually adding routes and DNS servers. By the way, the docs also make mention of a DNS proxy which we'll need to deal with eventially.
hmm... there's a small app (Internet sharring) taken from uni rom, but we need to apply uni driver also... I'll try to make a cab of it, hopefully it'll work. In my development time of aku3.2 I've manage to enable Internet Sharring feature with Uni drivers but sometimes the gprs hv problem. we'll see about this... give me time, hopes i can do something with it.
Great to see you around, helmi!
If we have this working, the WModem app can be ditched, and we will be one BIG step closer to a fully functional ROM...
/me crosses fingers
please try this cab... I cant test it since I was in AKU2.6 , Intshare for AKU3.0 and above...

hmm... I've test with old wm3 driver for usb modem (USB Modem COM8), wmodem dont tell any error, and also at command is execute, but my computer recognized it as Unknown usb device...arrgh...
What does the cab do? Does it just set some reg keys or does it start a service? I suspect that was my problem earlier; updating the keys is not enough, you might need to make some service/application actually read them.
Unfortunately, most of my networking experience is in unix/linux, so I'm limited in how much I can help here. I know what I need to do, just not how. I know most of how Windows works WRT to configuring various network setup and so on, it's just with these pdas you are very limited in getting debug info out. Are there any good command-shells for the pda? If yes and it has access to the "route" command then we should be able to at least see if the phone thinks ICS is active.

There is a command line powertoy downloadable from MS, but it was for WM2003SE, I don't know if it will work on WM5.
I want to do something for test but i dont have bluetooth nor GPRS activated at this moment) I was setting connection via bluetooth-gprs few months ago using standard windows tools.
Geez, pretty nice article - I was writing my own and found this so I wasted almost hour!

Thank you, helmi_c, all works very well on your WM5 ROM with AKU3.2 (v.1.3.2 Beta)! Is is only needed to set one reg key (as mentioned is first post by Brazilian Joe):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Tcpip\Parms]
"IpEnableRouter"=dword:1
I check connections via USB and via Bluetooth PAN - all works ok!
To all who want ICS:
- Install IntShrUI.cab from helmi_c and set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Tcpip\Parms\IpEnableRouter to 1 or just use .cab, that i attach to this post - this is a .cab from helmi_c to which i add a changing IpEnableRouter to 1.
- Turn off BA, wait 20 sec, then reboot.
- For the first time after each reboot you need to run "Internet Sharing" 2 times (UI is shown only on second run).
- If the PC have some kind network adapters - disable them all (except Bluetooth Network - if you connect via BT), and also you may run "route delete *" from windows command line to clear route table. This will ensure, that windows will set correct IP address of default gateway (this IP address - is a IP address of BA) after you connect BA to PC.
- On the BA, in Internet Sharing program, select PC connection type and Network connection, and press "Connect".
- Then connect BA to the PC (to USB if "PC Connection" is "USB", or connect PC to BT Network Access of BA, if "PC Connection" is "Bluetooth PAN").
- If you connect to BA via BT PAN - ensure, that BT of your PC is configured to "Allow other devices to create a private network with this computer" and NOT to "Allow other devices to access the Internet/LAN via this computer" (this is from PC widcomm stack, that i have, if you use other stack - search similar options ). If you don't do this - then you got a error from your PC BT stack... something about "not possible to make LAN if both devices configured as bluetooth access points" or like this. Also, for me, the ICS over BT is not work until a set HKLM\Comm\BTPAN1\Parm\TcpIp\AutoCfg to 0 (the default value is 1). If for your the same - set AutoCfg to 0 too. After connecting PC to BA, BA show warning "DHCP server cannot be contacted...." but for me all works (may be because before i have successful connection via USB) ... this will need more investigation, i think ...
IntshrUI didn't start after a couple of days
I installed IntshrUI from this post and tried ICS from bluetooth on my notebook as well as on my desktop. All worked well on both the machines for the last couple of days but now ther's another problem.
Now the ICS software IntshrUI is not starting on my BA.
I checked in running processes and there are several processes by the same name intshrui each with 1kb size and they don't terminate also.
Please HELP AS I DON'T KNOW WHETHER IS THERE ANY PROBLEM WITH MY BA OR SOMETHING ELSE.
Tried re-installing the software after hard resetting my BA but same problem occurs.
I'm using WM5 from Aku 3.2 helmi c.
hmm
this app is not wrking. The app can't be open.. or did I miss something?
intshrui not working
as I explained earlier please can neone help me with this?
Same thing for himalaya ?
Apologies for posting this in the BA forum but couldn't find anything in the himalaya forums.
Tried installling the intshrui.cab on my himalaya but it didn't work. Is there a version available for the himalaya or some registry tweak that can do the trick?
Nat Expiration Reg Keys??
how should i edit my registry to change NAT MAPPINGS EXPIRATION TIME??
I need some help, I upgrade my Rom to the Dutty's WM6.1 and the Radio to 1.58.16.27, but now my Wifi is not working, actually, find my router signal but it cant connect it, i dont know why, I already put it in Best perfomance but nothing happens.
Does anyone know what to do???
Thanks
Sorry about my bad english.
Did you go through the wifi set up?
Maybe you just need to type in the password for either PSK or WEP encryption.
Your english is just as good as mine so no need to appologize.
Have you tried another Access Point? I have posted in an older thread about this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376003
Not sure if any of this applies to you or not. Hope it helps.
thanks for your concern, i've tried 3 differents access points but nothing happens, in my wifi settings i can see my router signal, it says connecting, but stay connecting and never connects. the same happens to the other access points. it has the password writen and everything.
Do you have another solution maybe?
thanks
Did you type the password previously during set up?
Or when you were going through the setup, you see a bunch of asterisk (*)?
If its the latter... erase all of the asterisk (*) and retype the password.
thanks, but still having the same problem, is trying to connect but never connect it....
I dont know what to do now, I try everything!!!!
Possible fix
see my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2060140&postcount=83. I had the same problem as you. I think it has to do with some DHCP registry problem, but don't know much about registry settings so not sure.
Im trying but still happen the same thing, the arrows are going to the opissite directions that means that is trying to connect, but nothing happens.
thanks for that post, if anynoe has the solution please help me,
Do i have to try a different Radio?
please let me know
thanks
Maybe somebody with the same problem?? or any thread???
thanks
Does anybody has the solution or maybe something that i can try???
thanks
ooops delete
I had a problem like that when I tried to connect to my access point. I don't know for sure what caused it but it suddenly started working after toying around - one of the things I did was gave it a static IP address rather than using DHCP (which I prefer anyways tbh), it does indeed seem to be DHCP related.
I did the same thing, it connects to my router but i cant get internet (surf, messenger, weather, etc) , nothing, just its connected but nothing happens, maybe the radio version? i dont know what to do!
I still have the problem!!!!
Any solution please!!!!
I need some help
thanks
same problem here. wifi was working just fine yesterday. today, after charging over night, i try to connect to my network at home and it keeps saying connecting... but it never establishes a solid connection. also tried other available networks while i was out during the day, and it did connect, but then it couldn't access the internet, not even to update my weather on my today screen. haven't flashed recently, haven't hard resetted. only thing i did between the last time it worked and until now was active sync to transfer music from my computer to my SD card through usb (my card reader doesn't support SDHC) and charged it over night. I've transferred files from my computer to my phone in the past without any problems.
any help is appreciated!! thanks!

i hope this help... it's not a technical response, but good luck
this response is horrible, but i had the same problem. I changed my router and now it works fine. old: BUFFALO, new: BELKIN N1 Vision. I figured out that the unit has some intereference problems... my old BUFFALO work in another appartment well with my Kaiser but not at home... (tried moving BUFFALO from my house to another neighborhood house and works fin...)
it can't be the router that's causing the problem because it was working fine up until now. i've also tried other networks, and it will say that it is connected, but then i'll try to view a page and it won't load.
i've been using Dutty's WM 6.1 Rom that was released on April 9 and using the NIKI Radio 1.58.16.27 for about a week before this problem started also, just like jmcorral.

Same here. I think it's Dutty's rom...no offese to Dutty. I bet other people got it to work, but I've had Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid and the NIKI Radio 1.58.16.27 and I've tried a bunch of other radios with no luck. I'm going to try and switch roms and see if that helps at all.

Wifi not connecting
Maybe this will help.
If you have Duty ROM, check that Network Plugin is not activated.
I also solved the same connectivity issue for a friend that is using the the ATT original ROM. The problem was the battery settings. It was set at maximum savings.
sorry for the noob question, but where can i find if the Network Plugin is activated?
Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can resolve/give suggestion for my problem.
Basically i have experience problems connecting via Wi-Fi i.e the after activating wi-fi the phone will scan for available networks and give you the list. I then try to connect to my router (bt home hub which is actually speed touch) it does connect and stays connected for some time then suddenly the connection is dropped and under wifi it says that my access point is unavailable. If i turn wifi off/on again and scan for networks it comes up with "No visible Networks detected" even though there are like 5 access points in my house and i can connect to any of them using my laptop and old nokia e60. If i wait a while it will connect again but will not keep the connection. I have tried at home, work and some public places-every time is the same story.
Things i tried:
Soft reset/hard reset (many times)
Tried disabling phone radio in case3g chip interrupts
I tried with secure networks, open networks, different types of authentication/encryption, different router (more than 10) and every its the same story. I also tried several ROMS and ALL RADIO's available with the same result.
I am currently on Duttys_Diamv2.3 WWE RADIO 1.00.25.08, its a clean flash, nothing else is installed. I also have SPL-1.40Olinex installed (not sure if that could have an impact) The phone is vodafone branded btw (i had the same issue with vodafone rom which is why i decided to try other roms). I wonder if anyone has any thoughts/suggestions and would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
The same situation happened to my Diamond. I took it to the local dealer for HTC and after several days, I am told that the main board will need replacement. I am still waiting for it to be repaired as the parts had to be braught in from another country. I was also saud if the phone was less than a month old (which it is not) they would have replaced it with a new phone.
Good luck repairing yours and keep us updated.

Thanks Omar, I was kinda thinking that it may be hardware issue, but I don't anymore, I am trying something else actually as we speak. The only thing I haven't tried before is another hard SPL and I think that's the problem, I installed another version hspl1.34 and it seems more stable now and wifi keep connection, also with another hspl version (it was hspl 1.24) RAM under devise info>hardware showed 128, now it is 192. I will test in intensively and post my results here in case nay one else have the same issue. Hopefully I will not have to send it away for repair. Thanks for your info anyways.
In risk of sounding lame ...
Have ya tried 'Start' / 'Settings' / 'System' 'Wireless LAN'
Under Wireless LAN click 3'rd tab (strømtilstand in Danish - could be power-settings)
On that tab - pull the marker way to the left in order not to minimize the power consumption when tryng to hookup with the WiFi.
I had massive problems to get my local WiFi working at home - until I did this trick.
Best luck, Kindly

On that tab - pull the marker way to the left in order not to minimize the power consumption when tryng to hookup with the WiFi.
I had massive problems to get my local WiFi working at home - until I did this trick.
Best luck, Kindly

Yes i have thats the first thin you do anyways . I am now more than sure that the issue was with HSPL version 1.34, as soon as i got rid of it (installed hspl 1.24) all is fine.
With my phone, i tired all Hard SPL versions and even went back to stock SPL & Rom 1.37 & 1.93 and it still didn't fix the WIFI issue. it will work for 5-15 minutes then it will not work.
Anyway, I got a replacement phone as apparently they couldn't fix it.

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can resolve/give suggestion for my problem.
Thanks in advance.

...I have the same problems with you
However, I think the problem may caused by different ROM versions.
My hTC version Diamond initially flashed a Chinese version ROM, and the WiFi connects well, while I changed to Dutty's most updated ROM, this problem comes and I cannot figure out why untill now.
Some friends also suggested to go to the Power Management and change WiFi to "Best Performance", I tried and failed again.
WiFi can open and connect to Routers located in library of my university, nevertheless it cannot open any pages.
I'm also waiting for any person that can solve the problem and then help us figure out why....
thanks in advance!
I got the same problem as most of the people have. and i think "Fail to turn on wifi" is a very common among guyz who got HTC TD.
I dont know what should be done, i almost tried every thing. actually my phone was locked to 3 mobile Sweden and i unlocked it but my wifi was'nt working before unlocking too but i did'nt gave attention to it. Now i noticed it.. is that any one know how to lock it again soo that i can send my mobile for repairs or, any one know what should i do.
I would recommend upgrading your radio and your rom.
Ive been rocking the setup in my sig for some weeks now and its been flawless, stable and fast.
which rom and radio you are using. can you please help me in this matter.
and i think its not a hardware problem because its showing that hardware is connected to my device as its shown in the screen shoot
Hi,
Im using AlphaZero V7 NLD,
Im have 1 wifi point in my house, downstairs.
even when im on the attic i have 80% signal strengt.
My router is a draytek 2820G router.
Wifi for me is very good. .. correctly, AZTOR V7 NLD is very good for me.
im on t-mobile network.
Radio Radio v1.00.25.05 , Radio v1.00.25.08, Radio v1.00.25.16, where all good,
now testing Radio v1.08.25.20, HDSPA signal is bit weaker atm.
my best radia atm i think, v1.00.25.08.
im betting, that the starter of this toppic, who has 5 access points in his house all have the same SSID. This is not the way.
Or make 1 big AP aera, bij connecting the AP's to each other.
of try to set every AP its own SSID, and its own Channel.

i also have the same problem. it detects a wifi (my router at home Aztech brand), then trying to connect to it, and then it always showed the wifi as "unavailable". i put my phone 2 mm distance from the antenna of my router it also won't connect. i have change dozens of roms, win 6.1, 6.5, 6.5.1, different cook, MTTY, all with no success.
i've looked for internet and google for answers, i seen quite a lot of forum has described this issue, but with no solution. most of the ppl suggest in various forums to pull the wireless slider to "Best Performance", ofcourse i have done that, but is just the same result.
i'm still trying searching for a solution for this, i hope is not a hardware issue because my warranty has already ended. i'm currently using Gen Y R4.1B rom

Ok consider now wifi will work by re-flashing the spl.
But what is the relation between spl (os/winmo loader) with wifi?
another dang unsolved diamond wifi?
bravo.
same problem with wifi on diamond2
With Original stock WM6.1 i was unable to connect at all, after flashed official WM6.5 upgrade everything worked fine. However i decided to put cooked rom because of battery life and perfomance issues. Dutty HG6 for Topaz seems to be with glitchy radio, it works sometimes, very rare, and i'm still not up to the pattern when does it happen and why. Pretty sure it's not a hardware problem - so everybody relax, we will find the solution.

Hi,
I have a major problem. I can't get internet via gprs to work after the new 2.03 upgrade. I've tried two hard resets but nothing helps. The upgrade went fine and everything else works good, wifi & even MMS! which I think is strange since it uses gprs aswell... It sends and recieves MMS fine both with 3G, HSDPA & on Edge...
The connection wizard finds my correct settings and installs them, I've tried adding the correct settings manualy aswell. I've done it a million times before so I know it's correct. I have 3G coverage aswell since I can see the 3G on top. I don't use any static ip wifi connection either so the bug can be ruled out.
IE, Opera, Mail, Weather etc etc... nada, I can't get anything to connect. I see the arrows on top when it starts to connect and after a few seconds I get the connection error.
Please help, my phone feels worthless now...
try to get back to 1.93 and then re-flash the 2.03
Ok but is it possible installing this 2.03 again can help??? I mean so I don't have to go back to 1.93 first because I have no idea how to do it? I've not very experienced when it comes to changing roms since I always just flash the official ones...
Installed the older 1.93 again, still doesn't work
There seem to be no problem with the hardware since MMS works and uses GPRS, 3G, HSDPA & etc...
I think I give up, have to live without internet in my phone it seems
It's most likely a configuration problem rather than a hardware one.
Are you SURE the Internet access is configured EXACTLY to your provider's specifications?
Hi to all, please Owziee , did you fix your issue???
Hi, I´m from Spain and I have the same problem with my HTC Diamond. It was working very good with a cooking rom but after upgrade with the new original version from HTC don´t work GPRS connection.
I tested first with hard reset and second ,changing differents radios and spl in the way to found an answer for my problem but I didn´t found it.
I was checking the connection data from Orange for it was wrong but I saw all correct.
I created the connection manually first and automatically after it with the HTC Connection setup , but did´t work either.
Please Is there any way to fix it???.
Thanks in advanced
