Back up modified T9 dictionary - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Is there a way I can back up and restore my user T9 dictionary? You know, all the words it doesn't know you add manually... I want top try a new ROM but am not looking forward to teaching it all the words it doesn't know.
Thanks

that's a good question. have asked myself that a couple of times and never really looked into it.

Changing the Locale Setting

Guys,
At first I'd like to thank to all developers releasing us great firmware. I have a question; how can I configure or edit the Locale settings?
I have seen many Locale's on The Dude's edition, I wonder how can it be done?
Thank you in advance,
I would like to know... can we add Locale's? I am using the JF1.5 build and I only see english--- no biggie, I can just add hebrew (although it does remove chinese) by adding the dejavu fonts. I would just like to be able to choose a locale... like the regular folks.
I'm also interested in this
I've sent a PM to TheDude, haven't got a reply yet.

we alredy have a hebrew onscreen keboard, by Hezi Cohen.
Come on ‪iandroid.com...
Just to potentially bring this issue back out there, I am also interested in this. I have spent the last 4-5 hours scouring the internet with google trying to figure out how to add locales to builds, but I have not succeeded. I love the JF build, all that I am missing is Japanese Local as some of the apps look horrible when localized to English and there is no way to force an app to load in a specific language.
I recently started a new thread on this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=535780&highlight=locales
What I have discovered is:
There is an app, called Custom Locales, that allows you to add new locales. You can either compile it from source, or run the emulator and adb pull it out.
I would try it, but eclipse no longer works on my ubuntu box, so I'll have to find another way.
CustomLocale.apk
So I was able to extract the custom locale app from the emulator... here it is:

hope this helps someone, somehow!

Predictive Text Gone

I just recently went from Dwangs super fast rom to cyanogens new rom on my g1 and now for some reason when i use the virtual keyboard none of my predictive text comes up. It seems as if the entire dictionary was wiped out and it only works when i add words to my user dictionary. It is not a simple settings problem because I have checked numerous times and all the settings are correct. I was just wondering if there is any way to flash a dictionary into the phone, kind of like how you can flash additional ringtones into the phone. any help would be much appreciated.
Backup for root users gives an option for saving the dictionary, but I never used it, so I can't tell you if it works or not.
But what's wrong with just retyping the word once for it to go back into the user dictionary. Is it really that hard?
Well you can try this, and see if it improves your user experience:

Or install this app, Better Keyboard:

Topaz - help

Hey, do u guys have the anserws to theese questions?
1. I want to choose for how long the green lamp, which indicates "new message/sms", shall blink. Now the option is "grey" and it's set to 5minutes. But you can't change the time. What should I do to set the time?
2. I've tried all the pre-installed keyboards that comes with the phone. But I'm not really happy with it. One must, is that it should contain the charachters "åäö" (a swedish keyboard).
3. Can I set the vibrator to a personal setting? Like now, if I get a sms/message, my phone only vibrate once. Which is really hard to notice, when I got it in my pocket. So can I somehow make it vibrate more?
4. And how do I get my "sms-wordlist" to work?! Everytime I add a diffrent word in my "sms-wordlist" it disappear a time later. Which is really enoying. How do I fix it?
Thx for answering!

Regarding a keyboard with Swedish layout, try FingerKeyboard
I use it with Danish layout but you can also have it with eg. Swedish layout.

otherwise I'm thinking of buying a new phone, because the sms-function is at my greatest use..

There have been posts elsewhere on the Forum on all the issues you raise - for example http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606212.
I'm pretty sure I've seen a thread very recently about changing the vibration settings - if I did a search, I'm sure I could find it in a couple of minutes. Someone's responded to your question about keyboards - and, on adding words to T9's dictionary, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=557320&highlight=T9+words+adding might help.
Usually, for most of the niggling issues, there is either a simple setting change (which may involve adding/changing registry keys) or CABs that can be downloaded and tried. Take a look - there's a wealth of material here waiting to be searched!
thx so much i've tried to search on xda, but I kinda failed ^^
I'll try the links and come back with some respons

Right now, I've fixed the led-lamp, t9-wordlist and fingerboard. But I've tried to search xda for how to do your own custom vibration when receiving sms, and I've just found one... (can't post url:s yet) here is the topic "Vibration pattern for Incoming Calls, SMS and EMail "
but the "program" is pritty old and the developer doesn't write how to uninstall it if something goes wrong. So can you try to find something else, that might be better?
Edit:
Then I've found the names "SMS POPUP" and "DGAlert" but none of them is available for install/dwl at xda...

Dictionary for swype?

Ok let me start by saying sorry if this is in the wrong forum but i didnt see an App section in the main XDA screen.
Also let me state that I searched but only found a way to add words if rooted, which i am not.
Just wondering if anyone has run across a way to add words to the Swype dictionary? I think i managed to do it once by accident but not being able to Swype things like curse words or even something like "haha" is bothering me.
I read in the swype help section that to add a word to dictionary just spell out the word normally then hit space. Swype auto adds the word to its dictionary. To remove a word just highlight the word then hit the swype function key and it will give you the option to delete word from dictionary. This has worked for me.

ok i will try that, its weird though i read the options menu but maybe i missed that part.
Thanks!
ahhh i figured it out, jeez im slow. Just type the word in the box and long press, it gives the option to save to dictionary.
mods you can close this!

[Q] Deleting words from user dictionary

Hey all,
I've searched around trying to figure out how to delete words from the user dictionary on the One and I have come up empty handed.
How the heck do you remove words? Mistyping has gotten me with a few words I want out, but I can't seem to delete them on long press, it only allows me to edit them.
Is there a trick to this? Something I'm missing? I am on ARHD if that matters!
Thanks
NEVERMIND .... I figured it out ..... I always thought the menu option to delete would delete the whole dictionary so I didn't try it ... and it turns out it brings up the option to check off the words you want to delete .... ugh such a noob
