Hi
Which is going to be better for the battery - running the HTC headphones direct or using a bluetooth headset with its own battery (SE SBH-200)?
In other words, will using the bluetooth headset draw less charge than using the standard headset?
I'm using pocket player and also pocket tunes to play MP3s.
Thanks, D.
wired headset use less battery,of course
There is a freeware application that let you know draining of your battery in real time. You can use it to discover: acbPowerMeter v1.1.
Sorry but this is pretty obvious that a wired headset would use less power. Running Bluetooth requires battery power. Even bluetooth on but not in use. When I am not using bluetooth I shut it down to save power. This would be the case no matter what phone you have.
Thanks. It was not obvious to me that the wired headphones would draw less power.

Just wondering. A USB mouse will draw power from the device in order to operate, but then I can shut down the BT connection. Which do u think will be better for my battery life?

That's all up to you, I would think that if you're already using a BT headset your BT connection will be on most of the time anyway. And most BT devices shut down or go into power save mode if not being used to save battery. The fact that you don't have extra wires coming from the device is also a plus. I would go with the BT instead of USB for style and simplicity. Just my 2 cents .
I don't use the device as a phone at all, so there's no reason for the BT connection to be open. Since I don't really care about the wires, for me its only a matter of battery life.
BT Mouse - good for batter saving?
Did anyone ever find the right response or maybe recommend a BT mouse that would work well and consume less battery power?
Thanks,
Bob
If I pair the phone to the car kit and go on a long drive of say 5 hours or more.
By the time I get to my destination the battery is almost completely depleted.
I don't have a car charger.
Is there a way to put the BT on the phone in a standby mode that wakes up once a call come in rather than staying connected a communication the whole duration of the trip?
There is no problem if BT is on but the phone is not paired to anything.

This is not an answer to your question, per say, but you can find car chargers literally anywhere. It's worth a $10 investment.
Yeah but this is Africa!
Seriously though I have always had problems with car chargers damaging batteries specially the cheaper ones with poor regulation.
Hi everyone,
I need a new BT headset for my X1.
It must be rechargeable via a simple usb cable, and has a noise reduction function.
Which one is the best for me?
Use the search function. It has been answered 10k times already.
Don't know what your budget is, but the Jawbone 2 is the best BT headset available IMHO, and it has a USB and wall plug charger, and very advanced noise reduction. I can even talk to other people while riding my car with the window open at 120 km/h and the radio on. Only problem then is that I find it hard to hear them, they hear and understand me perfectly.
Plantronics Rule!
I had used a Plantronics M3000 for the past five years in my car with my old Nokia 6310i! It has never failed me and I still use it around my house. I recently retired it, from working in the car , and got the Plantronics Voyager 510. But if you're looking for one with one of the standard USB ports, then go for the Voyager Pro! It charges off a Micro-USB port. It's rather a new model so it will cost you a $100 easy. The Voyager 510, however, is for $36 on Amazon and its performance is on par with that of the Voyager Pro.
Plantronics are really great headsets. And if you apply best charging practices, that is to charge the battery fully then drain it fully before next charge, I can assure you that your battery is going to last for years!
HBH-PV740 .... its a SonyEricsson too! DSP, DDS, Digital Volume + Volume on headset, 11 hours Talk (best time / beat that!), LED for Battery and Paiting, BT version 2.0, 10 gram, can be worn with thin hook or jabra gel (I use jabra gel so no need for hook!). About 59US$ here in the U.S. of A.
take a look @ the Plantronics 925

whats the battery life like on these i've been wanting one for ages just never taken the plunge, seems like a lot of money for a headset just so the other person can hear you better
HTC seemed to indicate that these are no longer available for the N1.
If I want a car dock, what are my options?

Umm, okay...you might think this is kind of ghetto...but it works for me.
I use this dock:
http://lifehacker.com/5747897/how-to-build-a-car-mount-for-your-cellphone-from-office-supplies
And then I use Tasker to tell my phone when it is in "car mode," which is when it is being charged and when I have my auxiliary cable plugged into the head phone jack. When Tasker senses this, I have my volume maxed up and Pandora starts...and then I have exit tasks set up for when either the headset is unplugged or it is not being charged anymore.
Anyway...the "dock" is at least usable with other phones.
I'll give that a bash
I have recently purchased the original Samsung car holder.
After my tab reaches the 100% full charge, it beeps and advise me to disconnect.
If I don't do it, the tab itself begins to overheat after some minutes.
It oveheats really hi ! On the right side of the tab.
It seems like the car charger is not able to stop charging, differently from the house 220V charger.
Have you experienced something like me with your car charger ?
I have been using the car dock, sinds the beginning. Cannot say that i have noticed any excess heat. Note: i have used a brodit clip to install it on the air vent. Nicely in front of me without blocking line of sight.
All the phones i had "overheated" when connected in a car dock, having a forced air flow over it quickly eradicates this problem!
I use my tab in my car using the usb cable and a generic usb 12v adapter and it doesnt overheat, even when using the tab heavily (screen full bright, Torque app, and Pandora).

Ok, thanks for all your answers.
Could I ask you all, if you use bluetooth in your car?
I use bluetooth ON to stream music from SGT into my car stereo.
I mean it could be an overheat problem caused by the bluetooth antenna, isn't it ?
Bruno
I never use bluetooth.

I have bought the original dock nearly one year agoand it overheated only one time (car standing in the sun). I use my tab with Bluetooth and wifi activated.
New experiment:
I have put it in the car dock, no wifi, no bluetooth. Only 3G + Google Navigator were ON.
It reaches 100% and after become very hot (in the right side)!
Now I need to try again with display off, and 3G off; only power charge.
And finally I will understand (as I suspect) there is something it's not ok in my car dock (I remember you that with my original home plug cord all is ok !)
Brunino
Adding to my post earlier, and answering your question, my audio is through bluetooth while I am running those apps.
It's even two bluetooth connections... Pandora and Torque at the same time.

Yeah, i think you're right. Without being an expert: Sounds to me, like it doesn't deactivate after the battery has reached 100%. As I understand.d you, it becomes hot after it is loaded to full capacity, right?
You should try to exclude all functions, that may be the source of this malfunction. Put it into flight mode and just try loading the tab. Then start activating single functions like wifi etc. After that, you can try combinated function.s like Bluetooth and wifi.
