This is probably a WM6.1 question more than a Diamond question, but because I'm using JUICY'S 2.2 ROM, I figured I'd ask here.
I am a person with a visual impairment - I can't see all that well. I've used Windows Mobile devices for a few years but would be very interested in making the text much large on many screens within Windows Mobile. I've been able to do this through the Registry, making the font size larger for menues, pop-ups and title bars. What I can't seem to figure out is how to make the text large in "Text Messaging." In Juicy's ROM, threaded text messaging is used (which I love) but I can't seem to find the registry key to edit the font size of the text that is received. The perfect font size for me in this case would be 14 point font.
Start / Settings / Screen / Text Size - this doesn't increase the font large enough for me.
Please help if you could with this issue. It would be much appreciated.
I was able to edit the font size of the text that I type into "Text Messaging" but still not the actual conversation text size. Please help! Thanks.
Try turning the touch sensitive scroll wheel to the right.

Thanks for the tip - that does make the text a "bit" larger which helps, so thank you. Still would be interested in a registry hack for it though...

The font in the threaded sms in HTC DIamond is ridiculously huge. Not the font of my own typing, but the font of the sms i'm replying to. How do i make the font smaller?
When i had a tytn2, going to start > settings > system > screen > and adjusting font size here solved the problem. Doesnt seem to work for Diamond. Or am i missing something here?
At the threaded sms screen....put your finger on the circle button's circumference and move it clockwise..or CCW for smaller font..
owh....****. *embarassed*. Sorry my bad. thanks! (no wonder i felt that when i first bought diamond i felt the font was smaller, must have enlarged it accidentally)
Hi,
I have the same issue and tried the method you recommend, but it doesn't change anything. However I found out a registry key that does perfectly the job: go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\Zoom and enter a DWORD value that ranges from 1 (smallest font size) to 4 (largest font size - default).
thanks thats been driving me nuts...
I am glad that I did search~~ cause I was going to change do it with regedit too~~
Sorry to resurrect this.....
Is there a way to change the size of the actual text input box for sms / outlook?
With medium text size, when I'm replying to an sms I can see roughly two lines of text in the reply box. Is there a way of making the box bigger so i can see three or four lines of text in the reply box at a medium text size setting?
ALSO It seems you can only decrease the font size of the input text in the system settings, unlike using the d pad to change the font size of the message thread.
You sure can change the area in threaded sms to see a little more of what you typing.
The file thread_sms.htm (found in /windows or in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467966&highlight=thread_sms.htm ) is the key.
If you open the file linked with forinstance notepad you see in line 21 the keyword height=35.
35 is the default value, change that to 70 to double the height of your writing area.
save the file and overwrite the thread_sms.htm in /windows directory on the phone by using total commander or the like.
Kindly
Kwasmir
Thanks, man that small area was BUGGING me!!!!
Cheers!
Is it just me or is the text size in the threaded sms huge? Is there a way to change it?
never mind, its actually in the settings, under screen... Sorry
actually, its your scroll wheel. run your wheel anti clockwise

to bad the wheel does not work for scrolling through the sms message on your tf3d screen. ik get long sms texts and i always have to open the threaded sms to read the message.
how small can you make the fonts?
I mean across everything? I like making the best use of screen relestate and with a VGA screen you should be able to use small fonts (enough pixels), but maybe hold the phone closer to read them
how can I lower the font size in the menus?
start > settings > system > screen.
please read your manual =.=

When you go into the sms thread mode ( by pressing the SMS screen ) you can then use your finger to touch and scroll clockwise ( enlarge the sms text ) or anti-clockwise ( reduce the sms text ). The same method can also apply for enlarge or reduce the photo size under the album view mode.
It's very responsive, not necessary to change the text size on screen setting.
i meant in the tf3d screen. you cannot read the complete message text there.
offcourse you can do it elsewhere
Yes, on the tf3d screen. Please - someone must have a solution for this.. A registry entry?
*bump*
how do you change the font size in tf3d for text messages?
The wonder of repetition
Hmm... Should be interesting to see how many more ways we can ask the same exact question...

It is not possible at the moment!
Does anybody know, if it's possible to have more than one visible row of text when answering an sms in the conversation app in WM 6.1? I find it very annoying, not to see the text completey that i've written.
the only thing I found is to make text size smaller (Start-settings-screen-text size) You get 2 lines and avery line has lot more text, so I think it's enough, I don't feel any problem when messaging (I have text size set to the 2nd level). I think it's much more readable than bigger text that make confusion. But it's an opinion
Whilst in the text\email message drag your finger along the side of the middle button. You will see some markings on the button with arrows going round in a circle. You can use this to make your txt bigger\smaller.
Hope this helps
Thanks, smaller text size did it
Fortunately the diamond has the VGA display so it stays readable...

Thanx for the link, I had missed that one
is there any cabs so that when your texting you can see more than 1 line of written text ? i find it impossible to write long texts as you can only see last couple of words and its daft . anyone ideas? please thankyou
hmmm, any pics of what you mean?
havent really got any pics but just sort of like a normal phone whereas you can read pretty much all of what your typing on the same screen instead of getting to word 4 and finding word 1 has vanished of the screen .
He means when you're using the HTC on screen keyboard which is so big it takes up like 90% of the screen leaving very little of your message visible when writing a new SMS. I don't use that keyboard myself but I do remember it from when I first got the phone and tried it out; it would be good if the font size on the 'compose new SMS' screen could be made smaller to help people who do use that keyboard.
One of the tweaks packages allows you to change editor from threaded to classic - maybe not ideal but a workaround!
I changed the height of the SMS reply part of the screen and I changed the Windows Mobile font size in the Settings - System - Screen - Text size tab. And while reading your sms (thread), you can also adjust the conversation font size with your 'scroll wheel'.
User Letter Recognizer
I use the Letter Recognizer method, instead of querty keyboard or the T9 keyboard input methods.
it's much easier to write messages and the screen occupied by the Letter Recognier itself is very little, hence more text lines visible. Just perfect.
It might take some time to get used to the Letter Recognizer. But you'll really like it once you get a hang of it.
Hi,
I've searched and found the way of changing fonts in the pop-up menu of my HTC Diamond.
However, the selections fonts (the similar to V shapes and the arrows for navigation in the pop up menu) are still in big size... does anyone know how to edit their size as well?
Thanks a lot!
Anyone pls?
Unfortunatelly I have the same problem. I want to have a perfectly clean WM 6.1 system, fully stylus-operated. I have already disabled all the "garbage" like TochFlo etc., I have decreased the pop-up menu font size (using Schap's Adv Config Tool, but that can be easily done with many other progs like SK-Tools etc.) but I still cannot do anything about those stupid large "arrows" and "V-signs" (like in the checkbox list). They remain the same big size, as it was before decreasing the pop-up menu font.
Really nobody knows how to decrease their size as well???
Just a quick suggestion, go to settings, system and screen. Then go to text size, change it down by one nouch. See if that helps
Unfortunatelly no - the popup menu font remains the same (but that I know how to controll over SK-Tools) and also the arrows/v-signs remain the same - very large that is
advanced config will let you change the size of the font in the popup window
This is what you're looking for:
HKLM\System\GWE\"WidgeSz"=0.
Drove me crazy for days too until someone pointed me in the right direction.
