Hi,
Can I install a new ROM via my SD card because I cannot connect to Active Sync? I've been searching for hours but still can't fix my problem.
I tried to upgrade the radio rom only, but after that there is no radio version, no phone or internet, system on MDA is VERY slow, and I can't connect to active sync.
I can get bootloader up, but I cannot install the stock rom I downloaded from this site, because i can't connect with active sync. I've tried to copy it to an SD card and install from there, but that doesn't work either. In bootloader I do not have USB at bottom left on my screen.
only
IPL 1.03
SPL 1.03
Any help would be MUCH appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!!!!
I have the same problem :-(
It would be very nice if thereĀ“s a solution for this problem
Thanks a lot
Daniel
You don't need activesynce
You just need to get into bootloader search for it then run the RUU.

If USB is not showing up in the bootloader (rainbow screen) then the only known way to backup is via SD card. The RUU cannot be used in this case.
You'll want to dig out the original backup that you made when you first got the phone and do a restore boot. Restore the image from the SD card.
If you want the improved radio ROM, I'd suggest restoring from SD card, CID unlocking the device, upgrading to an AKU 2.x ROM (so you've got a 2.x bootloader) and then applying the 2.x radio ROM upgrade.

I installed a back up rom on my SD card with another phone of a friend of myne
same problem; wizard_radio version-2.25.11
will follow link in above post and see hoe it goes; anyone got any other comments?
no SD backup
well, funnily enough I ran the ROM backup as a precaution, but it seems a. not to have worked and b. to have wiped my SD card, so am buggered whichever way you look at it.
Does anyone have a backup image they could email/FTP to me so I can at least get to USB in bootloader?
THanks,
Jolyon
the CURE
ok, thanks to the tip from a99tandem.
Reset, holding down the camera button, allows you to go into boatloader, and you can flash a ROM from the PC using RUU. Bootloader comes up with 'USB' in the corner.
Thank god for that; that's 5 hours wasted...
Dear gurus,
I have 2 Blue Angels here at my office, which were bought at the same time. One of them has been through many WM5 ROM upgrades without any problem whatsoever, and only now, with the recent advancements (esp. conection Sharing), the other user is willing to do the 'leap of faith'
Strangely, his machine has been behaving consistently bad when trying to upgrade using the cradle, although it syncs without problem.
Thus I'd like to try to back up the WM5 ROM from my BA and flash it using the SD card on his device.
Is it possible?
Instructions are welcome.

Thanks Joe for raising the question. I will not have access to my PC for sometime and flashing from an SD card sounds great.
Thanks in advance,
Hey everyone!
Read lots of threads here on the xda-developers forum, many questions, many answers, lots of "good guys" who are willing and able to help (many have helped me, thank you goes to them and all the others).
The bottom line:
Saw many many questions concerning flashing, bad flashes, error messages and so on.
I really don't know WHY people won't go for the easy way?
Flashing from a PC involves a USB connection through Activesync/WMDC, an application, we all know the procedure thanks to racerx_ (http://trinityguides.info). There are so many things that can go wrong: think about it, from unplugging the device, app error, comm error, power drop, connection drop, system hang and so on.
I don't know about the rest of you but I have done it the hard way but also learned to do it the easy/safe way. There's nothing more to the story than flashing from SD card. Procedure is well described in the Wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_SDCardFlashing).
I mean, all you have to do is press three buttons and wait for the flash, no risky connection drops, error messages, driver incompatibilites (see Vista problems), no app hangs.
I have tried many ROMs from over here and except for my first two flashes (first was Des' Crash Proof SPL, second was a cooked ROM) I've made them all using the SD card method and never got an error nor a situation with it.
So here's the question: why won't people flash the easy way?
well, have you actualy tried this procedure before posting this?

Read my post once again, carefully.
hold Power button on right side and Camera button at same time and stick with stylus in RESET on bottom
This procedure brings boot loader screen, with three colors, it doesn't bring anything similar to that image posted there.

Follow the steps carefully.
1. SD card with FAT32 and no label (it can contain other files, no need to wipe it)
2. Renamed nbh file to TRINIMG.nbh placed on SD card root
3. Power+Camera+Reset
4. Follow instructions on screen (Power button to brgin flash and Soft reset when prompted at the end).
It don't get any easier!
It SHOULD work.
Totally agree, I don't understand why ppl persist with the multitude of errors that crop up from flashing via active sync.
Using the SD card you can chuck a few ROMs on board to test and just rename each in turn to TRINIMG.nbh, move it to the SD root and enter boot loader.
Before I test a new ROM I make a static settings image with SPB Backup so I can flash back to the old ROM and restore back to how it was in a jiffy.
Just to point out for some ppl, some of the ROMs here are packaged into EXEs, you will need to extract the contents and only use the file named RUU_signed.nbh.
This process can also be used to flash Radio ROMs in case you flash a ROM that includes a radio that you don't like/use.
Good thread
P3600i saga continues
I wonder if the SD Card method works on the P3600i? According to the Wiki, it doesn't bypass the SuperCID check.
Olipro has modified his SPL-Trin to work with the P3600i. But so far there's still no definite way to flash it. No Hard-SPL, splxploit don't work, same for JumpSPL. So maybe this is the way? Any opinions?

No, sorry, it's not the way.
Flashing from SD card is not a workaround for bypassing SPL.
You still have to have some kind of a Hard SPL installed.
Please check the Wiki.

...and also bootscreens.
In other words, this method can flash any nbh file which could be flashed through the update utility method.
Easy and reliable
Fully agree with you tnyynt!
I always flash using the SD method.
Sometimes I even download the new nbh and keep it on the SD and upgrade later on when having time, not connected to a Pc... (I also have all the cab I need on my SD card).
Quick, easy and reliable (done many times).
Would be fine if the nbh would be released on this forum (rather than the .exe package).
Would allow to download them directly from the Trinity. i.e.: no more need for a Pc !!!
I always use this method, it is the only one that works for me and it's the most convenient I think.
I tried this method several times, but I was never able to get it work.
Yes I followed instructions carefully, but no. I only get three colored bootloader screen, that's it. No button to start flashing, nor screen that looks like that photo in wiki.
I really wanted this to work, cause I have an OsX. Since I couldn't get it to work I had to install xp and use it as virtual machine. From there everything works just great. Because of that, I still have to have windows on my laptop :-(
Speed
About this method: is it faster, same or slower than usb? (consider an average SD card, no high-speed)
Sure SD is faster

I flashed recently FinixNOver 3.0.2 (BTW - superb ROM) - only OS + splashscreens and it took 2.5 mins in SD (regular 2GB miniSD SANDISK). I think it is fast enough...
Hi!
I want to tell me,if anybody knows, if i make my device superCID i loose the waranty!

yes, super-cid will void the warranty.. use hard-spl.. there's no reason to super-cid your device if you're flashing cooked roms..

Interesting, I'm sure someone will shoot me down but I'm not convinced it works with all SDHC cards... is your 4GB SDHC?
I can't get it to recognise the NBH from my 8GB but I have flashed many times successfully from my 2GB. Not to bothered, as long as it works
Nope, I'm using 2Gb normal sd-card. Also tried 512Mb card.
Hello Guys,
I am thinking about Flashing back to my original ROM that came with my Xperia. I tried other ROMs, primarily Itje's, and they are just brilliant, but I am not sure how they be used as everyday ROMs. The Touch-IT 4.5 has the battery leakage issue, some SMS issue, and I really don't like the new Start Menu thing with TouchFlo. Even though they have a fix with for the Start Menu thing, you lose the Programs tab, since the new TouchFlo is not meant to be like that. I understand that there must be more solutions for that ROM, but I will be honest, even after reading as much as possible AND searching, it's just so impossible to go through those 100s of pages.
I also tried the WM 6.5 Beta ROM. Again, excellent work on Itje's part, but I just don't think I am ready for WM 6.5 yet. It's just not stable and that is understandable since it's BETA.
Anyway, with that said, since I am not very experienced with Flashing, I had a question. What happens to a phone if the ROM image (Kovsimg.nbh) that is chosen to Flash the phone with, from an SD Card, is corrupt? Does the phone get stuck in the middle of everything, and the phone ends up as a brick, or are there any ways to prevent this from happening?
I am just asking this because I am not certain... the ROM I backed up COULD be corrupt, I mean I don't know. There were no errors when I backed it up, and followed the tutorial with no problems.
Any help is appreciated, thank you very much guys!
I just got out of that situation. Tried flashing by micro sd way. Took out batt and micro sd, then used the USB flashing tool to flash a new rom.
Thanks for your response, dadeadman, but after reading your reply, I am a bit more confused (Sorry). Please correct me if I am wrong, but are you saying that you tried Flashing with the SD, it was unsuccessful (for whatever reason), you then took out your battery and the SD Card, and Flashed it through USB using the RUU Flashing tool? If this is correct, then can you explain how the phone even connects to the computer with an OS (ROM) on it? I would assume that if the flashing process gets corrupt, the phone ends up with no bootable OS, right?
Sorry for the confusion, I hope it made sense .
You have to put it in bootloader mode then connect the usb. The white bottom portion of the bootloader screen will say USB, though the mobile device cnetre/activesync cannot detect. However you are still able to flash a working rom with the RUU Flashing tool.

Ok I am having the same issues. I tried to install HDWall cab on the latest march 9th energyrom with WM6.5.5 and Sense 2.5. It prompted me to restart so I did and ever since I tried rebooting it, its stuck on the bootloader. tried to hard reset a bunch of times and just goes back to bootloader. Took battery out a bunch of times. Tried to flash back to AT&T stock ROM via USB. Flash went to 100% and then when it tries to restart after flash, back to bootloader. Ran mtty1_1_.42_538 on PC and then tried to reflash to energyrom and still stuck on bootloader. The weird thing is when I try to flash via USB it the current Rom image is blank. Oh and also I attached an image of what mtty1_1_.42_538 shows when running the application. Please help chefs!!! You chefs are the brains!

I am not a chef but at this point I would do an SD flash of my favorite ROM.
Hope that helps.
I would if I could flash from a 16gb micro SD. That is the only card I have. I have read you can't flash with any card over 2GB. Don't know if its true because I don't have any other card. Card is formatted through my pc. Please help!
Something got messed up between installing HDWallpaper cab and the soft reset after.

it doesnt hurt to try
i'm using an 8GB card and I can flash from SD with no prob
I can't flash from the microSD. I formatted FAT32 through the PC and tried putting a couple different NBH files (stock Roms and custom Roms) and neither my old fuze or my Tilt 2 read it. I don't know if it is because it is a MicroSDHC 2 card. Anybody???
For some reason my fuze and Tilt 2 will not read the card in bootloader. I'm thinking I might have a hardware issue but would like to keep plugging away at possible solutions it might be... The phone is only 2 months old so I'm questioning whether it is a software or hardware issue
In case anybody was wondering, my bootloader reads as follows:
RHOD300 32M SS-BC
SPL-0.85.OliNex
MicroP(LED) 0x0A
MicroP(KEY) 0x04
TURBO HW/TURBO SW
TP MFG DATA
522, 535 815, 860
812, 211 226, 210
232, 860 Calibrated
At the bottom of the screen it will show the USB when plugged into the PC and Serial when unplugged like it should
Possible fix
Format your card again but in 16bit.
Copy the ROM image you wish to burn to the root of the card.
Make sure it is named RHODIMG.nbh and nothing else.
Before trying to burn this rom, I would actually burn HardSPL again to your phone.
Then insert card and see if it will reburn your rom.
I am using a 16GB card in my TP2 without problems, but found I actually had less problems by formatting it to 16bit. And any access to the card was actually faster than formatting it in 32bit.
Hope this helps
I will try that tonight when I get home. Any other ideas until then?

I think it's not a matter of capacity so much as a matter of brand. If your 16GB is from eBay you might well have a defect/reject card. I have a 4GB A-Data from Newegg that I only use for flashing. Never saw any problem with it.

It seems the read can not be read in two devices. That sounds like a defective card. Get your self a 2GB (non HC) card from a reliable source (maybe BestBuy) and keep it just for flashing.
I had this same problem I solved it check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=638825
Tried everything on the thread and still no go. Called HTC and sending it in to get fixed.
