Do you know if it is possible to change the location where the appointments in Calendar and mail in Messaging are stored?
I have only 2 Mb's of store memory and I would like to change the location where the mail and appointments are stored from the store memory to the internal memory.
Thanks.
use the search tool before posting
I did it. I only found something to change the store location for mails but not for appointments.
Thanks for your interest.
But maybe you use the search tool better than me. Did you find the answer to my question? If yes, you spend more or less the same time saying to use the search tool than inserting the answer.

Hope this is not a stupid question?
I use my diamond for work and on my S730 i had a cab file that used my Storage Card instead of the phone to store mail. I used this cab file on the diamond but does not work. Does anyone know how to use the internal storage instead of the phone for my mail
Thanks
Brian
in the mail settings you can choose to let attachments of e-mails be stored in the internal storage. The mail itself can't be stored on the internal storage, but i don't see the point of that (because a email is about 1/2 kb most of the time.
Thanks for the reply. The reason i like to save all to the storage card is i had the whole 2gb mailbox on my 4gb card on my S730 phone. We do not currenly have exchange 2007 and i can not use the search option. As i am out alot around our 4 sites its a pain if i need an email that is not stored on my phone as on the road alot. That is why i had that cab file that changed the settings some how so it stored all emails and attachments on my old card. I am sure someone will release a hack to do the same on the Diamond
Thanks
Brian

Yes it can...the (PropertyPath) setting is just located in a different registry setting.
However, I've tried it and immediately ended up getting the common "Storage Card2 issue", a known issue with this trick.
So I've reverted back to the default setting. But you're right that just the emails aren't all that big to begin with.
I would'nt encourage you to put 2 gig of e-mails on your phone. Isn't it smarter to just get the last few days of mail via your phone and if you need a older mail you use the webinterface of your e-mail provider? (on your phone with opera ofcourse)
Hi,
Our company is getting rid of BlackBerry and I thought it would be good to switch my BlackBerry to my personal Phone which is Tilt and having some issues with it. I've got most of things sorted out as far as setting it up but there are couple of things I can't find answer to.
1. It only notifies of new emails that are in Inbox but it doesn't notify any of new emails that are in different folders. I have couple of folders that I've set rules to move new emails to different folders but those don't give me any kind of notification when new email arrives. Any way to make it notify me?
2. It seems only place I can store my email is memory in the phone and only store attachment to storage card. Is there a way around it so that I can set everything to storage card? That way I don't waste memory in my Tilt?
3. With BlackBerry, once I select folders to be synced there's message screen that shows all new emails instead of switching folders to see new emails in Inbox and other folders I've created such as Boss, colleagues, tickets etc. Is there a way or program that lets me see all the new emails in one centralized location/folder/screen?
Thanks you very much.

Hi everybody,
I was able to export all my outlook contacts into a csv file and then upload it to google so that i could sync my captivate.
It worked great!
the only thing that i'm having a problem with, is that since they're considered google contacts, it won't let me assign a ringtone to them or even separate my contacts into groups.
Now i know third party apps let me assign ringtones, but its kind of annoying that i'm more limited on options when they're google contacts and not contacts saved either on the SIM or on the phone's memory itself.
Does anyone know a way around this? i've tried playing around with the menus, but there's no option to just save them to the phone.
ok, so after playing around for the last hour or so, i've figured out the answer to my own question.
i exported the .vcf file from gmail, then imported it into the phone and that did the trick!

Database storage is dbdata
Open a terminal app and enter "df" to see how much space is free on dbdata. If it's full, we need to thing of a way for rectify the issue, if it's not full then I'm completely wrong/thick
Ok I had the issue with my contacts2.db under /dbdata becoming very large (approx 90mb) and found a solution. Im posting it here in case it helps others. The solution had nothing to do with my handset or android in general. it was ALL to do with google contacts.
when i logged on to google contacts and tried to export "My Contacts" in an effort to fix up the problem with contacts2 on my android device being so large i discovered something weird. There is an option in the export panel to export "All Contacts" as an alternative to "My Contacts". Now "My Contacts" showed me having approx 400 contacts but "All Contacts" showed as 390000+ contacts.... WTF???... Anyhow having pulled the contacts2.db off my droid and used a sqlite browser to examine the data I noticed there seemed to be at least 300 copies of each contact. So it seems like droid is syncing "All Contacts" from google instead of "My contacts" (unverified, just my assumption).
Within google contacts there is a function to "Find and Merge duplicate contacts" which seems to chose a subset (maybe 10 or so) of your contacts and search for duplicates and merge them into a single record. After performing "Find and Merge duplicate contacts" continually until i received the "No Duplicates found" response i then went back to the "export" function and noticed my "ALL Contacts" had come down from 390000+ to approx 400.
Then on my droid i went into settings=>applications=>manage application=>All=>contacts storage and hit "clear data" and rebooted it. The contacts resync'd from google contacts and then when i checked "contacts storage" it had come down from 90mb to 1.4mb.
I have no answer at this stage as to why google contacts was getting so many duplicates. My only guess is that it is something to do with the sync back from droid to gcontacts. Anyhow I just thought i would publish the solution i found as I have seen plenty of threads from other people with the same issue.
Good luck !

My main concern is to move my contacts from Nokia N95 8gb (Symbian) to Galaxy Note. I do not want to do Google sync as there's lot of contacts and email ids already in my Gmail account. I don't want to mix it up. I don't have an outlook account as well. Please tell me a way out.
Is there any solution for transferring messages, calendar and notes as well? I don't mind doing this manually but contacts are difficult. Thank you.
Contact is easiest
First open contacts in symbian, option mark all - copy to memory card
Now copy other/contacts folder from your memory card n put in memory card of android
Open contact in android - option(menu) - import/export - import from SD card - select multifiles from available option - and GO
there is google calender sync application available for Symbian, backed up, then download in android by sync
same way a application is available for SMS backup to gmail for android, i forget name right now

wow.. that was easy. i never knew there was an option called "copy to memory card" in symbian. very smooth and all details gets copied, not just the first number in a contact.
google calendar is a good option. although i thought of copying manually just this months' appointments and anniversaries. if you sync then even the old 3 or 4 year old entries get copied which is of no use.
i couldn't find any google sms backup. but i did find another excellent alternative. first follow the steps in this link:
http://www.simail.si/nokia2androidsms/
after that use this application from the following link to complete the transfer
http://android.riteshsahu.com/apps/sms-backup-restore
it has all instructions. very useful if you collect huge amount of sms and don't want to let go.
copying notes, i guess normal Bluetooth transfers would do.
thanks doc
For calender since b4 android i switched to google, just reason is it remind you with sms too, so nothing like backup needed ne more. Once make entry on pc, n forget
