Yea when i connect my PDA to my computer (Running Vista) It seems like it just sits there and trys over and over to connect but never does any ideas to fix this?
Anyone? who can help me?
most of the time.....its because of vista. microsoft hasn't really worked out the bugs in mobile center. i had to use my mothers windows XP computer to connect my ppc in order to flash a new rom onto it.

Windows Vista and Tytn II Usage

Hello Gurus!
I am considering buying a new laptop as I am tired of my limitations with tweaking my phone using my MAC. Since Windows XP is being phased out as we speak, just wondering if I am going to have tons of driver issues when trying to sync and make changes with the Vista OS running?
I can 'maybe' find a laptop running XP, but Vista is super easy to find. Any thoughts??
Tack på förhand!
Scarlet
I don't have any problems using Windows Vista to connect to my ATT Tilt. Syncing via Windows Mobile Device Center works as it should. And I don't have any problems flashing various ROMs either.
The only issue I think there was is in the Cooking arena but I think even that was taken care of.
I'm running Vista Business with a TYTNII with no problems at all right now
Only thing to remember is that ActiveSync has now been replaced with Windows Mobile Device Centre
Ive got Vista Ultimate 64Bit and have no problems at all. there is a 64bit version of windows mobile device center as well as 32 bit and its far better and easier to use than XP's activesync.
In fact its easier becuae all you do is plug your phone into the usb and vista will find it and download the drivers needed for your phone. when windows mobile device center opens it will know what mobile your using and have a picture of it on the left hand side.

No problem there, whatsoever. I use my Vario III with my Vista Ultimate laptop and flash ROMs like a maniac! ;-) Syncing in Vista is easy, fast, and works intuitively.
However, what you'll have to do first (at least to my understanding) in order to be able to flash ROMS in Vista is this.
Not a big deal though and worked well for me.
Hope this helps.
har de bra.

I have a Vista Home Pro machine and did not think twice if it would work or not.
It works without any issues.
Tack för hjälpen!
Okay, so I will need to do what the link showed to flash a new ROM right? The syncing shouldn't be a problem out the box ...
Thanks for all the quick and really informative responses! Thanks Dolbe for the screenshot ... I love the way your desktop looks!
Ha det bra to you too lesevich

Have you installed ActiveSync?
Some people on the touch pro sub forums have reported similar difficulty, seems to be luck of the draw at this stage

Try both the Windows Vista and Windows 7 versions of WMDC. For some people, only the Vista build works...
Windows 7
Slightly off-topic, but is it me, or does Windows 7 look pretty much the same as Vista? I don't know what I was expecting, but I was quite disappointed when I first installed it. When I first saw Vista, aftyer using XP for five years, I thought 'Wow', but not so with Win7!!

windows 7 just like an enhanced version of windows vista
This info from US's HTC site help me out:
Tip: If you are having challenges connecting with ActiveSync, please try: Start>Settings>Connections>USB to PC and uncheck "Enable advanced network functionality".

Just (re)install WMDC 6.1 and it will work in windows 7. When updating windows 7 to a higher version you should reinstall WMDC
Tried all the above still not syncing
Stephen Lane wrote:
I think I have researched all the treads on this pretty well now & I've tried all the above including rolling back to before I 1st allowed the WDM to install to no avail. I still can't get my Diamond talking to W7 WDM still talks to my old Vista Ult machine though.
Everything looks good the updater downloads drivers then the WDM then the installs happen the device gets found and it sort of knows its a HTC device plugged into a USB port but WDM and Sync Center both don't believe its there .
I've tried resetting the Diamond complete reboots of the computer, I've changed all settings in the PC to USB menu on the Diamond (another thread) and this only changes the Device from Generic Serial to Generic NDIS but still WDM won't connect or a 4Gb removable HDD but the sync centre still dosn't find it.
So has anyone got any further suggestions I can't believe its this hard every one else has no probs what might I be doing wrong (I think the fact the device is a Generic Serial not a Diamond might be a hint but I can't prove it)

After long search, I've found someone having the same problem issue. I think Communications Manager button doesn't work with XP, I don't know just guessing. And I think they work separately. So, this is the post hope you solve your problem:
