QVGA anti aliasing / filtering - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I've noticed that many graphic and gaming applications that are designed to run in QVGA resolution are being run through a type of filter or anti aliasing, effectively "upscaling" the image. This does allow the graphics to look smoother compared to a native QVGA screen, but it seems to be at a cost of slower performance as compared to running the same games in native QVGA, slower CPU devices. I'm assuming if there is a way to disable the anti aliasing for the QVGA resolutions this would speed up the performance for these QVGA native apps/games as well. Is there a way to disable the QVGA anti aliasing / filtering?
Thanks

Ehm, practically, I dont think so. But I dont mean it as you do. Yes, you are right, upscaling image take some performance, but it almost nothing. Do not forgett, that graphic bench we all use is native QVGA (VS Bench), and even with upscalling it, Diamond has 2500 points, which is very nice. BUT, there is a problem with PDAMill games. For some reason, they are much laggy, no matter on Touch Flo status (on/off). My brother has Asus P535 (520MHZ Xscale CPU, QVGA), and I set his CPU down to 200 MHz, run Snails on it, and it was absolutelly smooth. Diamond with his 528MHz is very laggy on 528. So, I think that some games just dont like WM6.1 or VGA, or combo of these, or some improvements HTC did (like big softkeys menu). That is all.

If you want to compare this two devices in this way you must slow down the QVGA device to 132 Mhz. (VGA has 4 times the pixels of QVGA)
TDO

No, I dont have to. Only if I was talking just about drawing screen, but I was not. As I said before, in VS Bench, Diamond with VGA has 2500 point. Even with upscalling QVGA to VGA. It is not that simple as you think. BTW, I forgott to say that other games (like worms, z-raid) run perfectly.

Speaking of upscaling, is does anyone know of an application that will upscale a game made for qvga to vga resolution so that it isn't so darn small on a vga screen? Maybe an app to switch resolution on the video driver temporarily while you play the game?
Jason

That's exactly what I'm searching for as well. Something to enable fullscreen on QVGA games, as they only run in the top left corner of the screen right now.

anyone know of a freeware that show the time even inside PC games?

thanks... this is with regards to windows PC..
anyoneeee?
don't even think it's possible
most games blt directly into the framebuffer and bypass everything real windows
so overlays are not an option
so all you got is the program could try and blt it's clock text on the framebuffer very often this would require a good deal of cpu power compared to it just showing the time
and if the game it's suppose to access's framebuffer is locked by the game it's not possible at all
I once made a vb6 app that painted a red dot on the center of the screen, and that worked with games so yeah its possible

may be popular

thanks for the time however FRAPS manage to put the framerate on screen ...
Its possible -- I remember that there were some apps that are like Vindows Vista Widgets and display clock on the desktop in XP -- maybe some of these work in games(set them to be on top of other apps)!!!!
I have 2 places to look for clock - my keyboards LCD and my Motherboards LCD poster..
About the framebuffer things... fraps (the game recorder) overlays stuff on the screen, so it should be possible, and it would be a great idea!

Games with some textures rendered as black. post any games that do this.

Q4A
Quake for android. 32 bit enabled.
You can see decals from rockets or grenades rendered as black.
Dead Space
At some scene's you can see models and textures rendered black.
Diii4A
Doom 3 for android.
You can see some geometry at medium distance cut off or get rendered as black.
You can also see some bugs with the UI changing color.
I think it has to do with 32 bit transparency in a 3D open gl environment.
ok so the problem is the egl driver has been set to use texture format RGB444
That's 16bit.. meaning 32bit textures alpha gets damaged.
Anyway to change this?

notch in all games

how to force appto use notch area ?
im using aosip+ custom kernel
any idea?
Hello! You cannot really do that. And even if you could, most games aren't too flexible when it comes to screen ratio. Many games won't even support 18:9 ratio, and some parts of the game will be out of screen (even buttons), and even worse, the touch screen isn't calibrated correctly in many games when the ratio is not supported. So by forcing the game to run in fullscreen (including notch) even if the technology is possible by rooting your phone, the games will surely be unplayable.

General Adreno™ 610 GPU @1114 MHz Render Screen Resolution upto 1080x2263 not 1080x2400 as Xiaomi Advertised

Install Open GLES CAP viewer apk and check the current Render Screen Resolution you will find it's not 1080x2400 it's 1080x2263.
Whats the point having a 1080x2400 AMOLED panel if Xiaomi limits it GPU Screen Render Resolution to 1080x2263
It Doesn't make much different though but still though you paid the money for 1080x2400 AMOLED panel
Screen shots will override the resolution to 1080x2400 because of default system screen size value even though it's 1080x2263 rendering in background
is this troll post ? the screen corner is rounded . There is no point rendering something it cant display ?

there is no point of argument guess u know that Xiaomi is not like Apple to mentioned the correct specs
I don't understand your point, even if you say that they are not rendering the same as the screen dimensions, it does not mean that that is not the resolution of the screen.
Let me explain, if you have a 1080x2400 screen, where the measurements are generally for screens with straight edges (and the screens are like that), if they render at 1080x2037 it is to avoid making software adjustments that can cause visual bugs and display problems. .
If you told me that they render at 1280x720, believe me that would be something that nobody would let go of, but this thread doesn't make any sense

uhh! live in your own world keep your explaination to yourself and check other phones with rounded corners...you would know what am i talking about ?
I understand what are you trying to say, but that thing with rounded corners is true because if you didnt have physicaly these pixels there, is no point to render it, but on the other side it can be about power saving because if the screen is rendered in lower resolution, the load on gpu is lower. And there is last posiple option why this like that, because miui have overlays for hiding camera, navigation bar etc.... so the devs can set it up when these overlays are enabled the screen change resolution.
And after all if you want to prove something use more apps some apps can report something diffrent
here is my "report" from shell
and another theory that I tried and works is that your app reports window size of that app not whole system
here is foto when is rendering 1080x2400
and here is photo where is rendering 1080x2263
Side by Side comparison
so no point to argue about that, screen is 1080x2400, phone rendering 1080x2400, so this "mystery" is solved

Question OnePlus Pad. PUBG mobile screen resolution problem

Hi all!
On the OnePlus tablet, the aspect ratio is 7:5, so the resolution is also not standard: 2800 × 2000 pixels...
All this together gives a pixelated / square picture in the lobby and in battle (regardless of the selected graphics quality settings)
Is there any way to actually fix this? There is a strong feeling that the game did not correctly "understand" the screen resolution
Thank you in advance

I am pretty certain that this has nothing to do with the OnePlus Pad so there wont be any settings embedded to change this. It should be an issue/bug with PUBG since it hasn't been configured for the particular aspect ratio of the OnePlus Pad as the device is pretty new. They should be working on a new patch update to fix this issue so make sure to keep the game up to date at all times!
Thanks!
@Deselver Only way to workaround this for now is by changing the resolution of your tablet entirely. The game is optimized for 20:9 or 16:9 aspect ratios. Using 1650x2800 worked for me, YMMV, also this solution requires root.
