Hi all,
My BA has suddenly developed a very strange problem. It suddenly, for no apparent reason start beeping with the volume indicator on full (as if someone is pushing the volume slider up). This turns off only when I push the volume slider down. But now, the volume up slider has stopped working (down is fine), as has the power off switch. BUT, the power switch still works ok for switching on, and for toggleing backlight...it only doesn't switch off. Most irritating is the "Slider up" beeping it seems to do at random, and doesn't stop until it has been fiddled with. Any ideas?
BTW, I have a T-mobile BA upgraded to WM6 a year ago with no problems.
Thanks!!
First which rom do you use, does your device makes this with other roms, did you tried hard reset?
If this is not software issue(the upper suggestions did not helped), then you must clean the contacts of the volume slide button it may be stuck in up position. If this does not solve your issue clean all buttons contacts, and if this does not solve this issue then maybe there is something wrong with your motherboard
Thanks for that Xplode.
Before I got a chance to look at your more involved options, my battery began to die, so I plugged in the unit to the power. And now the beeping problem seems to have gone. The problem with the volume up slider and power off buttons remains, but they are manageable - the beeping was driving me nuts! My suspicion is the non-official 3200 mAh battery I am using...the phone has never been quite right since I installed it. Let that be a warning to us all......

Hi i have a few issues on my diamond. I hope you guys could help..
1st issue: lately my diamond keeps on resetting by itself.
2nd issue: later I've learned that when I record my voice using the software within the ROM, I don't hear anything but when I record my voice using my htc headset/earphones there is a sound.
What I did was:
This day I've flashed a new rom (Energy Rom) into my Diamond. It works ok then I flashed the Radio (Radio_1.13.25.24). I was able to use my diamond for a few hours.
Now..
3rd issue: My diamond is not powering on..
What i did before this happened was...
I pressed and hold the power button for about a few seconds so the ShutXP would pop up and I could soft reset my diamond. Before I clicked the soft reset button, I was checking out all the functions of it. then i clicked, a little icon, which is the Setup Timer Action. Here's the setup:
Action: Turn Off Pocket PC
In: (i don't exactly have seen the time indicated)
As curious as i am, I Clicked the Set Action button. It did shut my diamond off. Then I tried turning it on, but all it was doing was vibrate and the screen was black. At first I was hearing the start up sound a few times but later it didn't hear it anymore. I plugged in the charger but there's no white light on the circle button which used to have a light on the borders of the circle button when plugged in the usb cable. I tried pressing the power button plus the Volume down so the bootloader would appear but it did not. What shall I do?
Are you sure that the screen working because the phone vibrate and play the startup sound so if think its the screen that have som serious problem !!
HELP
I also flashed a new rom (Energy Rom) into my Diamond before.
It cannot run window mobile6.5.........how can I do???
I cannot connect to PC .......
I recently also had a similiar problem, after attempting a flash of the Rom, the ROM update stopped halfway through and reported that it had lost connection to the device....
The whole phone would not vibrate/power on, nothing - no glowing ring around the middle button to indicate it charging at all.
I had to return to the repair centre and somehow they didn't notice that I had modified the firmware and replaced the whole phone for free citing a hardware issue ...
Doesnt sound good if you cannot hard reset the device
Tonight my G1 displayed some very odd behavior. It was running normally and I pressed the power button to make it sleep and I set it aside. About half an hour later I picked it up and tried to turn it on by pressing menu. The phone gave no response other than lighting up the five buttons on the bottom. I tried sliding the keyboard out and the keyboard lit up as well, but the display remained black. Plugging it in via USB to my computer did absolutely nothing (no sounds, no notification light, etc.), and I got the same result when I plugged it into the charger. I finally decided to take the battery out in order to turn the phone off, and then put it back in and pressed the power button. The phone booted up normally, and now everything seems to be working in proper order. I am slightly concerned, however, as I have never had this behavior in the year that I have owned my G1. I am running Cyanogen 4.1.999 with the Hard SPL boot loader. I am unsure whether this behavior has anything to do with the mod and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar. I do realize that if my phone is bricked it is my fault, and I want to determine if this was simply a freak accident or if I need to do something differently with the phone.
first of all if your phone was bricked you wouldn't be able to use it. as for your problem it doesnt sound too serious so if i were you i wouldn't worry about it. but if it does happen again reflash your phone and if it happens after that, pitch it to cyanogen to see if there is a problem with the rom.
I do realize that it isn't bricked now, but I am worried that this behavior could mean that I am pushing the phone too hard. I am mostly curious as to whether or not anyone else has experienced similar behavior from their G1.
Turn off compatibility mode in spare parts.
don't worry this is a common problen It happens to me all the time any hero I flash plays nice for about a day. and then boom no problems with cyan!
I had the same problem, but unfortunately my G1 is still not working properly.
In the morning, turning off the alarm I left the phone for 5 minutes. An attempt to turn it on did not work: there was no reaction on display, although the buttons were lighting up. I restarted phone taking the battery out and now I have following:
- keyboard fully closed: no reaction/black display, buttons are lighted up
- keyboard open: I can do everything: change ROM/make call/write messages/Internet/GPS/... - everything what is possible to do with rooted G1
- keyboard partially open (visible only lowest row with such buttons as ALT, SHIFT, SPACE): similar to 'open' but with changed orientation
Can anyone help/advise? Did almost everything: ROM changed, full wipe, recovery
The title says it all. I had this problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13405841#post13405841
But it turned out that the battery was completely flat. Charging it and all is almost well. Now I can't turn on my phone normally, when I press the power button or reset the phone it goes into bootloader mode. When I plug in the headset and then reset or power on the phone is when it powers on normally.
I've done task 29 already.
This is ridiculous, no reply after 10 days... Still have the same problem. Was without my headset today then my phone hanged. There was nothing I could do but wait till I arrived at the home where I'd left them.
It's not rediculous. It just means nobody has ever had this problem. Or at least nobody of the people that still read this part of forum...
I'm not an expert, but I would start with a hardreset to make sure it's not some keys driver problem. On the other hand I would suspect your volume down hardware button is mechanically damaged (pressed all the time) and only connecting the headphones lets the phone "override" the hardkey.
It's only a speculation though...
I doubt the volume down button is malfunctioning, the phone is still virtually new. When the phone is on, all buttons work normally, as they should. Thanks anyways for the info.
My HTC one developer edition won’t wake up after deep sleep the screen does not turn on i have tried to press power button and volume down and no response except for flashing back and home buttons. When I call my phone I can hear a tone from the other phone but no response from the HTC one. I have also tried to hold the power button and the only response was flashing of the touch buttons. I tried to connect it to my PC it appear in device manager but if i tried any command (no device found). alsoI noteced that when i connect it to the charger no orange or green LED lights
Any advice would be helpfull.
Try holding power and volume down pressed while holding a bright light directly over the proximity sensor
wow It worked !!
thanks a lot dgtiii
But do you have any idea why did this happen ?

Awesome, I'm glad it worked! Sometimes the proximity sensor is buggy it seems. The feature is there to prevent accidental touches from turning the phone on if it's in a pocket or purse or something - if the sensors sees darkness, it will not allow the phone to turn on. Sometimes this feature is buggy or it sticks, and the bright light positively tells the proximity sensor the phone is not in a pocket and should turn on or reboot.
Exact same issue as the original poster, exact same resolution.
Thanks for the help. That was an exceedingly unexpected cause. I am curious as to how/why exactly it is so buggy, would anyone happen to know?
EDIT: I am curious if temperature might be related actually. I have had the phone for nearing a year, but this is the first time I have had it where the local temperatures have dropped below freezing, and my phone was indeed quite cold when I picked it up, but that could have been related to it being off as to this issue, it was on the charger, which traditionally keeps it fairly warm regardless. The phone itself has been rebooted a couple of times since I got it, lost power twice, but has not been off or rebooted in weeks before this, as is general for my usage.
Randomly throughout the day, my phone changes the ringer volume from vibrate to the lowest sound tick on the ringer. This happens at least 5 times per day (usually more) as long as the privacy switch isn't set to a silent mode. This happens on OOS, lineage, RR, etc. This happens to both me and a friend all the time. He bought his 3T a few weeks after I got mine, we're both bootloader unlocked, have different versions of TWRP, he runs OOS and I run Sultan's lineage build normally. Basically we're both extremely annoyed at this little issue. We cannot figure out why it's happening but it happens to both of us regardless of ROM or firmware version. This has to be a software issue, what are the chances that we both got devices with a hardware issue. I have a 64gb gray, he has a 128gb black, purchased about a month apart, no way we have phones from the same batch. Any help to fix this annoying little issue would be greatly appreciated.
Is you phone in your pocket when it happens? Any chance it can be something as simple as the power & vol rocker being pressed when the phone is in your pocket? Reason I say power & vol rocker, is that both would need to be pressed for the vol to change (pressing vol up/down when screen is off will normally do nothing).
Hasn't happened to me on this phone. But on my old M8, once in a while when crouching down (with phone in my pocket), the power button would be depressed long enough to reboot the phone. Although the power button was on the top of that phone (and easier to accidentally depress, I would think). I was starting to think there was some hardware/software fault making the phone reboot; before I realized it was just me depressing the button on accident.

It happens even after sitting still on my desk after an hour of not being touched. It's been going on ever since I've had the phone. Definitely not accidental presses

I know that with some custom ROMS, it works in sets of three.
Alarms/priority/all notifications
Total silence/vibrate/ring
At least it's what I've noticed. And only with a few custom ROMS.
Hope this helps.
