submenus in start menu? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello,
Ive been looking for a way to make submenus in start menu,
is it possible?

I would guess quick menu is the thing you are looking for
Search the developement and hacking forum!

no, its not what i meant
the option i found related to quick menu in search is the little menu on the right that shows the applications currently running on device.
What i want is the ability to explore beyond start > programs,
for examples to be able to open another popup window with the icons and folders inside programs,
or start > settings > Connections
like when you go on your PC to start > programs and see all your programs installed.
that kind of thing.
is it possible?

Wisbar has this functionality. You can try it.

there isnt some built in feature?
i dont want to take ram for full applications running in the background
there is no patch or registery edit for that option?

you could try creating a new folder in windows/start menu/
not sure if it will work, but worth a go.

+1 to quick menu

Definitely quick menu.
Yes it has the task manager thingy on the right hand side, but it also changes that default behaviour of the start menu

As you can see, it allows you to browse all the folders in the menu right from the start button.
you can get it from http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-quickmenu-v2-7.html

The problem of quick menu is that it is small... so hard to use with the finger...
The only thing i found was given : create a new folder. Than when you click on it it will open a window ( i know it's not perfect... ) but you will have access to many programs.... put some links in this folder...
Didn't find better for now
Ciao
Fred

Wisbar has an option to have a large start menu, with the functionality you want. And frankly, it's not that memory intensive.

Ok i have done it. Actually last night on my sister's Ignito.
Its a long process but works. You have to use Resco Explorer to navigate to Windows/start menu. In that folder you will see Programs and Settings Folder. Add new folders here such as Travel, Web, System, AV, etc. Make sure hidden files and files in rom are shown in Resco options. Open Programs folder and copy the Office Mobile and Games folder shortcuts. Go back to Start menu folder and paste those shortcuts there. You will now have Travel, Web, System, AV, Office Mobile and Games folders. Go back to Programs folder and now you have to select and copy all the relevant shortcuts and paste them into the appropriate folders in the start menu folder. Its a bit of a chore but only needs to be done once. Exit Resco Explorer. Open Settings and go to Menu icon. Now uncheck all the apps that are ticked to show in the start menu. All boxes should be clear. Now when you click on the Start menu, only folders should show and you can open any up to show only apps releated to its category. Programs folder will show everything. The only thing to maintain is when you install a new app, remember to go back into explorer and copy the shortcut file from the programs folder to the relevant new folder. Likewise when you uninstall an app, delete the shortcut from the relevant folder using explorer.
This way you keep the large finger friendly menu.
I have done this for years on my phone. Works well.

QuickMenu 2.7 is the go...best price as well

hello everyone ,
i installed quick menu..but it removed the htc task manager on the top left of the screen..is there a way to have quick menu and the htc task manager ?

Don't think so. You have to desinstall Quick menu. Then go to Settings/System/Task Manager and button.

I'm getting an error message...
Load qmenubtn.dll failed!
Please resetup this program and try again.
All the files are in a single folder (1 exe and 2 dlls).
Help!
NVM: figured it out.

Kaiser Options

Hey fellow Kaiser users,
I'm currently using the Tilt, with Dutty's touchflo rom. I have a few things that I was wondering whether or not can be done within the device. Can these be done? If so, how?
1. Setting TCPMP as default player within the HTC Home Plugin to be able to control the next and previous options from the home screen (assuming just using it for audio purposes) or use a skin on top of TCPMP that looks similar to that of HTC Audio Manager
2. Set S2U2 to startup with device so that you don't have to select it in order for it to run. If this is not possible, is there a way to change the items included in the quick launcher, so that S2U2 or some other program can replace some items included in the launcher?
That's all I can come up with right now, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and by the way, Dutty, your custom ROM is awesome, glad I found it.
I can't help you with TCPMP but if you use a program like Battery status it will give you the ability to set up a tray launcher which will allow you to set up s2u2 there which is what I do along with some other apps. Heres a picture of it in the middle it gives you meters you can set up at the bottom is the tray launch.

For tcpmp, to set it as default, go to options>settings> slect page>file association> check all that you need. Exit the program. Reset the device. and you should be good to go.
I've set all the file associations within TCPMP, but this doesn't set it within the HTC Homepage Plugin and allow you to control it from the homepage. If I could get this to work, it would be awesome, but it may not be possible. If that's the case I guess I'll just have to use TCPMP's not-very-aesthetically pleasing interface. . But I can deal with it, it works, so I guess that's good enough.
The HTC Home plugin only works with Windows Media Player or HTC Audio Manager.
S2U2 loads up fine for me after a soft reset. It can be selected to be used in the Home Plugin in the normal way or assigned to a hardware button or soft key.
For some reason mine doesn't automatically load after a soft reset, I have to either launch the configuration tool or the application itself in order to use it. Does anyone happen to know if there is a way to, or exist a theme similar to the appearance of the HTC Audio Manager?
Thanks for all your help everyone!

You should be able to set it to come on by defult with "S2U2 Setting" (most likely found in your "system Tools" folder). Make sure you have the faollowing set to ON:
-Start on wake up
-Start on backlit off
then click:
-Save
-Yes
That should do it.

How do you configure the HTC Tray App??

Hi! I recently purchased an AT&T Tilt and one of the first apps I loaded was the HTC Tray App (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344533). I love how the launch bar is at the bottom of the Today screen, not at the bottom of all the Today screen plug-ins. However, I can't seem to find a way to add/remove icons from the launch bar! Anybody know how to add/remove icons to the HTC Tray App?? Thanks!!
Here ya go....
You need to edit the registry to point to the app & icon source files. It sounds complicated, but it's easy.
Here's what you do:
It will only add three icons & you have to add the others. It's easy once you've had a look, though it may sound complicated.
To add them go to HKLM\Software\HTC\TrayApplet
Then you have to create new keys for the other proggies you want.
To do this you need resco, PHM, or another registry editor, etc...
In the above location you creat a new key with the position number you want, i.e. 3 or 4 or 5, etc...
inside these key folders you then create new string values. If you look inside the key value 0 folder you will see what I mean.
Here's a few screen shots of what I mean:

hi there, I am trying to do this on my elf.
I cannot see the picture you've posted. I have created another string key. I currently have 0 & 3 I have just added 4 but don't know how or what to add as name and path.
thanks . is a cool appl.
Go into the 0 key folder & copy the two keys inside (you don't need the default one it will be automatically created when yuo create a new key) One is for the image to use, ResPath, (Icon) & one is for the path to the .exe, LaunchApPath. Copy the keys from the existing 0 folder to the new ones you create (folder 4, 5, 6, or however many you want) & then replace the copied string values with the location of your new programs.
Here is the pic again (Just click on it):
thanks gsleon.
i have done this now.
i had to check the pics at homne on my pda but could not enlarge them. so i had to wing it. but i have done it now.
i have removed the first two icons (power and rotate) and replaced them with others. so it looks cool now.
thanks again.
i think you can only have a max of 6. but dont quote me.
help needed

Titanium Program Menu Launcher Plug-in

I wrote a program to add a program option to the Titanium menu for windows 6.5.
When you run the program you can add up to four programs to appear on the start menu.
Unfortunately you must manually add the included text files - located at /Program Files/Program Favs/ - to the Titanium240x320.cbr and Titanium320x240.cbr files.
I started on this yesterday and have tested it enough that I feel comfortable releasing it as an early release.
Select your programs and change the name of the menu option then you must press save to save the changes.

Things to add:
Custom Icons
Auto import of XML layout to Titanium.cbr files
Larger number of pages for programs

Hi,
I spent half an afternoon yesterday trying to convert your cpr to automatically install using AppInstall but none of my cabs work. I don't know where it went wrong. I had managed successfully to do the same thing for AnalogClock, Opera v2 using the same method but not your program.
If I do it manually, the panel will appear in titanium but if I use my auto cab, the cpr will not be updated. System property of my cpr is already set to archive, and all other panels install without problem.
I suspect that because the panel doesn't show on titanium after install, even after using CHOME Editor to make sure it is enabled, when I go into the registry, I noticed that the registry will show. Another strange phenomenon is that after many rounds of testing, I encountered many times that even after creating the shortcuts and saving it, it will show in the registry but when I launch "Program Fav Setup", it shows no shortcuts created. Only during one or two occasions, I noticed that "Program Fav Setup" could show the shortcuts created.
I have tried on Anryl's 21222 Public 1 and r6 beta, and also Josh's 21222. Same results.
Real strange!

Using Anryl's 21222 r6 beta, I did manual insertion of the cpr. Now programs panel appears in titanium. Shortscuts created using "Program Fav Setup" will show on the panel. If I relaunch "Program Fav Setup" again, still I don't see the previously created shortcuts. If I just exit, the previously created shortcuts will also not appear on the panel in titanium.
The link is broken.

Well I just hope this is not just another Start menu replacement that you already have installed in your Windows Phone. Well it be great if you have another alternative that you can play with..
Here's "Start", yes, that's how simple the application name was.
So what's in this application?
It's a Start menu replacement
You can add your quick lunch application
Intuitive search function
Able to run application
And it's fast
It's a Start menu replacement because I got bored with the native one, scrolling down on the list, or even having a jump function still makes me feel bored.. So I made my own. Don't you like having a 4 column, big icons as a start menu? Well I do
So here's a short video demo of the application
Tap the text on the top-right "JWMD Apps" to see more information
SUPPORT
Windows Phone 7, Mango, Tango. 7.8
TAKE NOTE
THIS MAY NOT WORK ON OTHER ROMS. Am sorry but I couldn't do anything about that. One reason I can think of why will not work is because Application folder, or the Install folder is hidden. Kind of stupid reason but I have already flash 2 different ROMs in my Mozart and 1 reason the application fail is because those folder I mentioned were hidden. so .. sorry.

This looks great! Question though: For those of us who have 7.8, what is the use of this other than the search bar? And is it fast enough on the device to be a seamless replacement? I'll try it out later today when I have WiFi, and if it works without slowing down, I would be very happy

I use 7.8 too and I don't use search bar often (I never really use it), I used to tap on those quick jump letters.
If we talk about "seamless replacement" then no because what's on the start menu list in WP has already loaded in the memory right after you boot your device and it's not like an application that you can just terminate using back button.
You got to know that this is an application. It reads all the installed application just about 2 sec to show the main UI and another couple of seconds to read the icons from the cache. Once you run the application again, you'll have the same duration. Although there's a hidden stuff in my code where it uses a cache list of the applications installed, and the purpose of that is to make the loading faster (not implemented though because it's buggy).
Tried this out today, it works well, and is not too slow. The All Programs screen is absolutely more informative than the default start screen, and it allows you to see much more at a time than the start menu.
Suggested features:
- The ability to reorganize the Start panel.
- A settings menu for options such as adding/removing/renaming/reorganizing panels.
- If that is not possible, perhaps the option to have the Start panel show up on app start instead of the All Programs panel.
Bugs:
- The Results window does not disappear if I don't pick something from it. I tried swiping up and down, as well as left and right.
- Choosing an app, from the screen or search, crashes the app and it returns to the start menu.
Phone - HTC SparkW - 7.10.8835.35
Hi NullString. This is very usable application. I am working on similar one, which can group applications (and groups too to tree structure, it is necessary when hundreds apps are installed). Can you try the same? I mean it is not necessary to make two similar application.
Any notes:
1. When I want "pin to start" allready pinned application, program crashes.
2. When I tap to immediatelly last started application, this shows not back. When another one is launched between it, app is showed.
3. You can add "startup" option (after device reset) to your app by creating/deleting link in \windows\startup directory. I am programming launcher to your app in this startup way now (startup link for *.exe can be created by my Phone Commander, but it may be possible to create/delete it for managed dll programmatically).
4. Are you able to make orientation sensor accepted version? Landscape mode is necessary on HTC7Pro. I can also send you simple functions for HTC7Pro cursor keys handling, I am redesign all my programs for keyboard controlling too (also with BT keyboards in future), this is more quickly and comfortable then by touchscreen.
Martin
good work...............
Does this require full unlock or would it work with dev unlock?
rise up! I'm back
doesn't work for me ! i'm on omnia7 devbuild_8862 by septvies. The app loads all the applist and then sneakly crash.
