how did you clear the cache or are you speaking of the internet IE cache/ opera history?
also, I installed adv config 3.2 but it will not work on my stock Sprint diamond, i assume this means i need .net 3.5 but let me know if you can.
Thanks

random freezing on tilt

hey guys, i have an unlocked tilt, flashed with the htc rom, and for some reason it randomly locks up.. i especially notice it with PIE, but also with other programs. i usually have to wait 5-6 seconds, and then it works again. the weird thing is that from what i remember when windows mobile freezes up, and you click a bunch of different buttons, as soon as it un-freezes, all those buttons are pushed, however in this case, no matter what i press, when it un-freezes, it just stays where it is.. im beginning to wonder if i just have a defective screen or something, but i dont remember this happening with the tilt rom tho... any help? thanks
omar
I have the exact same problems...
same here, did it when i had the att rom on it also.
I *had* the same problem. I did a Clear Storage, and everything is fine now. I sware my problems started after I loaded the HTC Home plug-in. After I did the clear storage, my problems went away.
I'm running the Tilt on the Cingular ROM at this time for what it's worth.
I didn't run the HTC ROM long enough to see if it did it also.
Clear Storage
What does clear storage really do?

Basically resets it back to how it was when you first turned it on...no contacts, no apps (other than what it shipped with), etc. Basically a factory reset.
If you used kaiser tweak to set your ie temp files to storage card, this will make your kaiser freeze. set back to default.
My problems happend with the HTC rom, and are still happening (although the freeze time is shorter) with the Helmi ROM. I didn't have the ATT rom on long enough to notice it.
Are any of you guys using the Shogun threaded SMS app?
Threaded app works great. Its most likely that you tried to set your Pocket IE storage cache to your storage card. this is a known issue. I believe there's a fix around, but without that fix, you can't put your IE cache on the Storage Card. Set it back to your main memory and you should be OK.

Thats not likely, seeing as how I've *never* done that... ever. And the problem happens outside of IE also.

Are you using the HTC home screen? I'm wondering if that may be a culprit in more than one issue I'm seeing...
Are you using blackberry connect? I was using version 4.0.0.90 then switched to 4.0.0.84 and my random freezing went away.
HTC home screen = always
Blackberry connect = never
Every rom I used with my 8525 had the HTC home screen, never had freezing issues this bad. Although I do remember having some...
OK, did you use the official HTC ROM? Or one of the cooked variants?
I have witnessed this problem on ATT ROM, HTC ROM, and a cooked ROM. I wonder what is causing this.

All of the above.
Same here with Helmi's Big Storage Clean Rom.
My ATT Rom with schen's HTC homescreen plug-in freezes too, although I think it did before I put it on. It won't accept screen taps for maybe 10 seconds or so, then resumes running fine.
I just performed a hard reset and am starting from scratch. My problems are directly related to PIE and large websites. I did that webview.dll hack thatI just did it to try it out, but I think that is when my major issues started happening. I'll see how things go now with the stock AT&T Rom without customization.
I've been noticing the same behavior, but I noticed it when I was running the stock AT&T ROM, so I'm not 100% positive it's related to HTC Home.
At first I thought it was just really crappy screen recognition, but I've been noticing it with the hard buttons as well, so I don't think it's related to the screen.

having major problems with my tilt

stock rom and everything, just no bloatware.
this morning it worked perfect, about 2 hours later is all retarted.
1)the backlight is dim and doesnt get as bright as its supposed to unless i plug it in
2)when i slide the phone open the screen doesnt flip the other way
3)getting multiple "cannot execute" errors of clocknot.exe, repllog.exe, calnot.exe. these pop up and i have to click OK 20+ times and less than a minute later they came back on again. actually now i cant even get them to go away.
4)i left my phone alone for a while after realizing something was wrong with it and when i came back to it was just constantly vibrating, i dont know for how long but it killed 60% of my battery.
software i installed is just your basic stuff, tomtom, touchflo cube, htc touch dialer and touch today setup, htc home customizer and battery status and i think thats pretty much it.
anybody have any idea on what might have happened? like i said, the phone worked perfect this morning. i put it down, went a swim, came back and it wasnt working right so i did a soft reset and it didnt fix anything. i put it back down, took a nap, came back and it was vibrating and then i did another soft reset and thats when i got all the error messages. so i did another soft reset and still doesnt want to work.
wait, now for some reason it seems to be OK after another soft reset. I DONT GET IT.
so now i received and sent a text message and then closed the phone, it locked and turned the screen off. i then put it on the charged and the screen wouldnt turn back on now matter what button i pushed. but the lights on top blinked and when i opened it the keyboard lit up. so once again....another soft reset
you probably should hard reset your phone. but be aware that it will erase evrything on ur phone and return it back the way it was, so backup ur info
Yes, I second that. Make sure to back up your data before hard-resetting, though, as you will lose it all (contacts, files, everything).
To hard reset the phone, press and hold the two soft keys (buttons on the front that have a dash on them; next to the send and end buttons) while pushing the stylus into the reset hole in the bottom. If you do it correctly, a white screen will come up asking you if you want to do this, and just follow the steps until it is finished.
Please post back and tell us the result.

Use the latest version of "SPB backup" to backup all data before you hard reset and you restore the all applications after a hard reset or even a ROM Upgrade.
P.S: I don't work for SPB... I just like the software

Don't just back everything up as you may just re-introduce the problem on restore!
Back up your contacts and volotile data only (sync it with Outlook if you use it).
Hard reset and then install 1 app/util at a time and test the device each time to check stability.
Hang on a second...
Before you hard-reset...
Open your favorite file explorer application (I use GSFinder, but the default WM6 File Explorer should be fine), and browse to the Storage Card folder. If there's more than one, keep reading.
I store lots of applications on the microSD card itself, and I often take the card out of the Tilt, and put it into a card reader for faster file transfer. Sometimes, this results in the Tilt thinking I have multiple microSD cards when I put it back in. I haven't quite nailed down what causes this (I haven't searched, either, the answer might be on XDA-dev somewhere).
The end result is, the Tilt is looking for stuff that isn't in the /Storage Card folder. Instead, the phone recognizes the card as /Storage Card2 or /Storage Card3.
I have run into the EXACT same problem you've got, with the same errors. Every time, I've been able to correct it by removing the physical card, and then deleting all the /Storage Card (1,2,3) folders that are still on the phone.
After you do that, just insert the card again, and it will be recognized as simply /Storage Card without any numbers after it. Now the applications will work properly, as WM6 will be looking at the right folders.
ok sorry, havent been back on. phone was working great until last night and then it started acting up again. after multiple soft resets it started working fine again this morning.
there is only one storage card listed so thats not my problem but thank you for the idea.
looks like ill just take any stuff of the phone i want when i get home and do a hard reset. do they replace these phones for software issues with a stock ROM?
happened again, should i try to see if they will replace the phone?
anyone know if i need to call to do that or do i need to go to a certified at&t place?
If you are using the Stock ROM and have performed a hard reset and it still has problems then return it under warranty.

There are no more certified ATT places around here, everything is by phone and mail. If it is still under warranty thats what I would do if you are unsure of it's long term condition.
i am still stock ROM. it locked up on me again yesterday and i did a hard reset. hopefully it wont happen again. i dont feel like customizing my phone from scratch yet again

Diamond is running extremely slow - TouchFlo won't start

Suddenly my Sprint HTC Touch Diamond is running extremely slow. TouchFlo 3D will not start. Various things runs extremely slowly like tapping on the start menu takes like 20-30 seconds to come up.
Rebooted several times. Turned off TouchFlo. Phone's still as slow as molasses?
What to do? Flash the ROM? If so, which I'd hate to do, where do I get the original Sprint based ROM?
Update: For some reason \Windows\manilla.exe never gets run. If I run it by hand then Touch Flo comes up. But it's still kinda slow.
Who/What starts manilla.exe?
Simply do a hard reset, this will reset everything back to original rom as in a factory reset.

That would be wonderful if I didn't customize things. But I have - heavily. And I'll need to reinstall all my apps. I was hoping not to do that...

But this is the most likely reason it is running slowly... Needs a hard reset and start again - and be judicious with what you re-install.
Before doing a hard reset, have you tried a soft reset??
A soft reset for heavy users is almost required dally in some cases to release the memory from being attached to programs and the OS which is consider to be called "Memory Leaks." A typical problem for all 6.1 Roms.
This slow and sometimes unresponsive behaviour was what also experience as well. There are programs that help memory find it's home but sometimes a good old fashion soft reset is what's needed.
Last thing: Make sure that when you have flashed a new ROM to ALWAYS do a HARD RESET immediately. Not sure if you followed that procedure in your last flash. IF not, I'm afraid a soft reset might not be sufficient to remedy this issue for you.

This is exactly what I was trying to avoid. A computer doesn't suddenly go from running OK to dog slow when you have not changed anything (I only rebooted/soft reset). The running of manilla.exe doesn't suddenly disappear.
Everything I install I install for a reason.

Daily! If not hourly. WinMo is not known for being stable.

I'm well versed in what memory leaks are. 'Round here we call them bugs. Being in the business for some 30 years now I can tell you that having to reboot an OS periodically is a sign of an extremely buggy OS. Unfortunately that's what WinMo is.

There's a big difference between being slow and being suddenly SLOOOOOOOOOWWWWW.

I've yet to flash this phone. I was hoping to avoid it. There are so many ROMs to choose from, some better than others. And I'm not looking forward to having to reapply all my customizations...
i get a problem like this occasionally after a restart. I need to hit the green dial key to get it to ask my PIN. after i enter my pin everything is back to normal.
just an idea
sprite backup
What you should do is when you hard-reset the phone and you have installed all your must-have apps (and the phone still runs smoothly) use Sprite Backup to make an image. This way when things go bad again, just restore the Sprite image to that wonderful time when everything still worked smoothly and you won't have to install all the apps again. Only the apps you installed after the image ofcourse... depends how often you backup
Works like a charm.
Be careful though, when you flash another rom, you CAN'T use the Sprite image anymore!! You have to make a new image then.
Hope this helps.

Automatic Soft Reboot

Well I know it happens, and it happens to multiple people but I haven't pegged an answer why phones will just randomly soft reboot like this.
But more importantly I'm wondering why mine soft rebooted into a boot loop?
Currently reflashing the rom Open Eclair hoping it works cause I don't want to loose all the data BUT it looks like my phone won't go past the G1 screen now.
Hmf.
Well what do you know, lost all my data. That's fantastic.
Wipe + Flash.

Performance Slump

Hi all,
not sure if I am doing something wrong. However every time I load a new ROM on my TD2, it runs perfectly fine for about 2 weeks and then it just grinds to a halt. I get consistant lock ups etc. Any ideas?
Do you make an hard reset after flashing every new rom?
If not, you should.
If so, its also good to run a memory management tool like Memaid or even Clear Temp to clear your cache once in a while.
Thanks guys. Yes I do run a hard reset. I thought that was my problem. So I made sure I ran a hard reset. Still no joy.
Do u use a lot of internet, as clearing the cache in Opera seemed to clear this. (That was with the original WinMo 6.1 ROM though!!)
Tried to clear text messages?
