Use different gprs/3g settings for mail - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi,
My Provider gave me an offer to use gprs/3g unlimited browsing through opera but no outlook e-mail, using a specific proxy server which limits file downloading to 1MB, gives free web access but stops POP/IMAP traffic completely.
Is there any way to make outlook *automatically* use the standard gprs/3g settings and proxy server in order to receive/send e-mails (and of course pay for that traffic) and at the same time Opera *automatically* use the unlimited data settings (and of course not pay for that traffic)?

Activesync is all webdav over https - whether or not the proxy is configured to allow it through is another thing.
If you go into connections, and specify the proxy, activesync should try and use it (I tested on mine with an invalid proxy address, and activesync failed to work, so it should work in theory)

Thanks, but I don't use activesync (if you mean sync with my PC).
I download mail through the air (3g or gprs). I don't have an internet connection at home (don't blame me for that, plz), and at work I am not allowed to install activesync...

Create a custom "hidden proxy"?

Hi Guys,
Does anyone know how i go about creating a hidden proxy? I tried looking at the settings of the at&t hidden proxy but can't seem to figure it out...
The problem is I cannot use the proxy setting under connection settings because it is already in use. My cellular operator has a monthly data plan of 100MB for 7,5€, but is limited to http traffic. This limitation is enforced by the use of a http proxy.
I'm running a http proxy server at home and would like to chain the proxies so that all requests would be formated to go to my server, through my operator's one. Is this possible?
Alternatively, does anyone know of a program that would allow me to chain proxies?
Thanks
I would also like to know if it is possible to create your own hidden proxy.
I use my tilt on T-Mobile and am also using the proxy to allow me to get unlimited internet access with the T-MobileWeb (Formerly T-Zones) for 5.99 a month.
However, using the proxy I am unable to use Apps such as remote desktop, windows live messenger, etc because for some reason they don't work with the proxy.
I was thinking that maybe using this hidden proxy instead of putting the proxy info in the connections settings would allow me to use these apps.

If you cannot properly setup a visible HTTP proxy (for WiFi), how could you even think about an invisible proxy?
This device is crappy.
Almost
This looks like the beginnings of an excellent application, however, does anyone know of a program that will automatically switch various settings based on GPS location? I have been digging around for months trying to find a solution that will allow me to set up various "profiles" based on my GPS location, e.g. silent/vibrate, medium brightness, gprs connection enabled all other data connection disabled, while I am at work, and wifi on while im in major metropolition areas, and off while not, etc etc.. is this a pipe dream or has anyone stumbled across something similar?
also Im not sure why you want a "hidden" proxy, but this might be your solution:

Email "error syncronizing"

my email on my Tilt keeps showing an error syncronizing message i cant send or receive email and i get that message when i hit the send/receive option, i have my email setup though gmial and outlook, any suggestions on fixing this?
Hmmm, sounds like something is wrong in the connections if I had to guess. I'd go back thru the setup (try this for the Gmail setup first), and when you get to the Outgoing Server settings, select the Advanced Server Settings and make sure the network connection is configured correctly - mine is set to connect to The Internet and it works fine. Also, do you always have this problem, or is it only with certain connections (wifi, activesync, GPRS/3G, etc.)?
I had this same problem after flashing my rom. Go into the Settings>Connection tab and make sure it is connecting thru the internet using MediaNet or My Connection. Click the advanced tab>select networks. The modem should be Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)- Access Point: wap.cinguar, User Name: [email protected], Password: CINGULAR1, Domain Field: blank. Advanced... >TCP/IP: first and last boxes checked (leave servers tab untouched).
Also if you are able to surf through Internet Explorer or MediaNet but cannot send/receive Emails. You should follow the directions from the above post since it's correct. Find the messaging feature. It should have a "Select and Account" screen. Click on Menu>Options- Look for your email service on the list, click on it. Make sure all your login info is correct. OUTGOING (SMTP) mail server for AOL is : cwmx.com, both boxes checked on that screen. Then click Advanced Server Settings. Network Connection: should be set to MEdiaNet or your primary connnection. CLICK DONE!
Let me know if this helps

Can't get T-MobileWeb to work on Unlocked Tilt on T-Mobile

Did anyone successfully get T-MobileWeb to work on the Tilt to get internet access? I am able to send/receive email but cannot get PIE to connect tot he internet. I've setup the usual T-Mo proxy setting but is there another proxy in PIE somewhere? Is it an issue with PIE connecting through a WAP port?
Thanks.

I think therefore I am.... confused!!!
you need to search forums for tilt tmobile, thats what i had to do..how are your MMS working out... i cant get mine to work after i changed my proxy to get the $5.99 hack... i am thinking i might have to get the data plan.. let me know if you get it working...
these are the settings i am using;
Under Modem,Edit, needs to be wap.voicestream.com
under Proxy the setting needs to be, see below;
This network connects to internet, network uses a proxy server to connect, box need to be checked.. 216.155.165.50, then under advance
216.155.165.50 port:8080
216.155.165.50 port:1901
216.155.165.50 port:1901 or 03 worked for me
sockets, need to be blank
guys, i was able to get both working, however, not on the stock at&t tilt rom. first to get the mms working, i just went to settings-connections-connection setup, and let it setup ur settings for tmobile usa. this will not allow your mms to work. now go to the connections and modify the settings for the 5.99 plan (i posted the exact settings a while back, search for it).. all u pretty much gotta do is add the proxy. good luck
omar
ps..if ur using the tilt rom, i never got the mms working, and wasnt able to access the internet on the 5.99 plan. on the 19.99 plan worked fine tho

OK, got it to work with accessing internet and email by adding a modem setting. However, I have to switch the two connections depending on which function I need.
Under Setting, Connections, Advanced button, Select Networks...I need to do the following:
In the Network Management screen I have a few choices but only the two settings in the top choice (Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using: ) need switching. When I click on to select the choices, I have setup one for accessing the internet and another to get email.
Is this normal or am I the only one that have this issue? Its kind of annoying to keep on switching the setting for the functions. Any way to combine the two connections or have the device auto choose and connect automatically?

They are all checked. I changed all ports to 9201 even the http and now when i open pie it says
"You do not have access rights to this site

Also it adds "wsp://" in front of any link i type in the browser. Maybe you didnt mean change the http port to 9201 but i gave it a shot. are you guys and XXwindowsXX using the 5.99 deal? and it works?
email routing issue + cannot download TM's w/ pics
Hi All ~~
It sounds like I may have found the right msg board! I am a T-Mobile customer using an unlocked AT&T phone with the original ROM (minus the bloatware). I currently have three msging accounts on the Tilt: text msging, a hotmail account and a work email account (which I check via Outlook on my PC). I am having two annoying problems:
(1) I keep getting TMs saying that I have received an email on my work account; however I cannot (a) get the text msg notifications to turn off, nor (b) get the emails to actually pull down into the account. So: I know I have a work email (even who from), but cannot read it. Any thoughts on how to resolve either or both of these issues?
(2) I cannot receive or send pic text msgs. Really annoying; I am curious to see how other T-Mobile Tilt users have their settings arranged for this.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide ~~ Kim
TYTN/Hermes settings?
These settings in post four, would they be the same for the HTC TYTN/Hermes as well? After going into cnections, I notice that there isn't anything called connection settings. Just add new modem conection, proxy settings etc. I'd really like to be able to get this T-Zones up and running on my Hermes as well.
Thanks,

Yes, it should be. You'll need to add a new modem connection and edit the proxy settings. PM me if you can't get it to work and I'll try to help you.
Tilt Solution To Force Http Instead Of Wsp On Tmobile
Our good friends at ATT have two cab files in the \windows folder which install and remove a hidden proxy. By default, it funnels through the proxy.
 BAD ATT!
If you are using T-mobile's 5.99 gprs plan and the HIDDEN proxy is enabled, all traffic will be routed through the hidden proxy and you will be forced to WSP:// pages. This will effectively lock you out of many of the sites that do not support the WSP protocol. Other carriers (Orange?) may be doing this too to drive WSP traffic.
To correct the problem, go to the windows folder and
1. run the restoreHiddenProxy4CWS_0522.cab
2. and then run the removeHiddenProxy4CWS_0522.cab file
3. Close your data connection and restart it. If you don't know how, just press the reset button.
After this is complete install the standard T-mobile GPRS settings and you should be in good shape. If you need a cab for t-mobile, search the board for the most current one or PM me. I keep one handy too.

try this:
server name: call it whatever you want
Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port: 8080
Server address: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect via: whatever you called the server name
Sending limit: 300k
WAP version: WAP 2.0
make sure you set this MMS server as default
The 5.99 plan requires a proxy. No exceptions that I'm aware of. The good news is that I've not found a page that I cannot browse. The speed isn't stellar, but quite acceptable. Additionally, since the power requirements for GPRS are low, I check email every 10 minutes.
There are a series of CAB files floating around here somewhere that have all the correct settings for each of the Tmo plans.
Same phone also ulocked for T-mobile Final solution
I suggest that you start afresh (Hard reset your phone)
then go to this link and download the cab
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1521768&postcount=70
download this cab
tmobyjoe599.cab
I had the same problem as you but that worked for me and im sure it will work for you.

How can i connect Windows Live for Windows Mobile throug a proxy server?

Hi all,
The proxy server is used in wireless system at my work. I enabled proxy server configuration in communication manager and i can connect web sites with internet explorer.
My question is, while i am unable to connect windows live messenger, there're also no proxy configuration on it. Are tehere any way to use messenger through proxy server ?
Or, i guess Windows Live for Windows Mobile is brand application came with WM6.0. Do you know may i use old messenger versions via proxy? Or do you know any other msn client with proxy support ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
you can setup the proxy in live messenger
I couldnt find any place to enter a proxy address in messenger. Could you please tell me where can i enter the proxy?
hey, I connect through a proxy for all my internet (using tmobile usa), and I was never able to figure out how to use windows live via proxy. however to download my hotmail emails I finally found a work around. you have to upgrade ur hotmail account to hotmail plus (20 dollars/year). now u have access to pop settings and set up a new email account using those settings (not through windows live) good luck
omar
I do not care mails, i even dont use hotmail for mailing.
i need to instant messaging to keep talking with my girlfriend.
You can't use a proxy server to access WLM Service from your Pocket PC. It simply doesn't support this.
The way that the client communicates with the Messenger service greatly differs when using a proxy, and support for this is not available in the mobile client. You NEED to create a direct connection, which thus prevents you from connecting in networks where using a proxy server (HTTP or SOCKS) is mandatory.
My mobile connected to Wifi but I couldnot surf WEB cause I didn't know how to setting up
my working Proxy via port 8080.
Help me!
Same problem here, but a little diferent.
I connect to the proxy server in my office network trough wireless access point, and then it asks me for the user credentials. I put in the credentials (i have an unrestricted account, i'm one of the administrators) but then it keeps asking me for them as if i had used wrong credentials! Are there any configuration on the proxy server to accept WM6.1 connections?
Thank's!

Hotmail Inbox (port 443/8080/80)

Hi experts!
I need a little help in this one.
I want to access to my hotmail account in my inbox on my HTC.
I can only access to ports 80 443 and 8080
I have already tested httpmail Provider (which need a hotmail Plus subscription and I have only a @hotmail.com mail) ,and it crash with a Logging On and a screen with :'The server returned an invalid response (with a lot of jibberish **** and a (80042003), Error Source:HTTP Status :Logging On
I have already tested pocket hotmail 2.5 (it doesn't work ,it doesn't pass the Logging In and I get a: 'connecting to server failed)
I read some stuff about mail2web(actually good) ,with a not pratical solution ,going through hotmail->izymail ->gmail ->mail2web
but izymail doesn't keep a record of the mail, and most important thing it's not free.
So, what can I do ?
I know there is a HTTP way to get the mail (http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp)
With the Peracount app ,i would like to see if I'm receiving some mail.
Thanks in advance!

I velieve I installed windows livw from a cab I found on here. Let me knowi fyou cannot find it. Search for Windows Live 10[1].6.33.0600 (Fixed).zip
Windows Live for Windows Mobile
Microsoft actually makes it easy this time, though this page is not easy to find. Just load Windows Live for Windows Mobile and you are fixed.
Also it allows you to use your hotmail contacts and to save you phone contacts to hotmail
https://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/mobile/wl/download-en-us.mspx
I have tested both solutions:
As I said before ,I can only surf with ports 80 8080 and 443.
With Windows live (the fixed and with the link) I cannot pass the Checking Internet connection (I have one,I was surfing to test it).
I was thinking develop a small app which connects to the HTTP site and try to catch if there are any new mail and put it on the today screen.
But I cannot believe there is no solution for my problem.
Could you give us more details about Windows Live app not connecting. I use that app for my hotmail and it works flawlessly.
Whose your service provider? (IE, T-Mobile, at&t)
I'm on a french provider : SFR .
The problem is that I cannot pass the Checking Internet connectivity.
I think the problem is the port (it must be testing another ports rather than 80 8080 or 443).
I think his internet connection is wap based (via proxy) and that's why he can't pass the internet connection check
Yes ,I think that's the problem.
That's why i was wondering if a small app cannot go to the hotmail site (http) and catch some information
Are your connections settings using a proxy server?
Yes ,it is using a proxy server to connect to Internet ,and then it blocks all ports except 80 8080 and 443
hey, had same exact problem. on tmobile USA's tzones plan it uses a proxy connection so windows live doesnt work. after lots of time, i finally figured out one way that works perfectly. first, you have to upgrade to hotmail plus. you can now set it up like any other pop3 email account. search google for hotmail pop3 to find the settings, otherwise ill post them for you when i get home. this is the ONLY way i ever got it working. good luck
Is there any way you can set up a connection profile without using a proxy server?
With at&t for example, connecting via a proxy is only necessary for accessing the Media Net home web page.
@ omaralt :
Hotmail plus is free ?

All data must pass via the proxy
no, its $20/year, well worth it for me
