I was looking for a good video converter for our screens. I have tried about 4 so far and even some than have a setting for our device don't seem to work well as in the video doesn't go full screen. Anyone have any good reccommendations. There are about 100 out there for iphone, I am trying one of them to see how it looks on my phone. Thanks

For my windows mobile, i use MAGIC VIDEO CONVERTOR.
It converts to many filetypes supported on mobile devices such as:
3gp
m4v(best imo)
It ahs a trial and throws a watermark but its worth the buy.
dvd catalyst
Nice program very easy and it will convert alot just about everything http://pocketgear.com
Please try this if you are suffering problems with video playback on your Kaiser (NOT VIDEO GAMES).
Go to the OFFICIAL DivX website and download the latest full package. Try out the DivX converter using the setting 'Mobile' (you can try it for a period then if you like it you can then purchase it).
This device has its faults but if you are not prepared to work around this you should not post on this developers site!
I can play any movie file over WiFi from my WLHDD2.5 in perfect rendition (for a PDA) after doing this with the basic TCPMP set to GDI playback.
JUST GIVE IT A TRY, you have nothing to lose!!!
EDIT..Use the .81 version of TCPMP if you can get it, buffer processing is faster.

Again, we all know we can view videos at a good speed after having converted them. But our Kaiser should read them with no conversion at all.
We have enough solutions to convert videos, thanks for this one, but it is just one more ...

One would like to ask where it is said that Windows Mobile plays un-converted files??? It is primarily designed to sync via Windows media player.(as is the iSpudge with its PC software)..All other video playback is user selected and not fully supported. No lawsuit here I'm afraid...
OH, and BTW, did you selectively miss this in the first post???

No, I am stuck here with TCPMP until I get back to UK to purchase the new Coreplayer as my cred card wont work from the UAE online.
I am just trying to pass on any workarounds I find to others. I expect a massive factor of improvement when I get it but anything before that will also help others.
ah....massive improvement huh
is coreplayer really that good?
really wish to try it, only if i no need to pay 1st
but then the divx convertor is really easy to use, just that it takes time to convert

Yep, it does!! But has patience been lost? We are developers... Not miracle workers.. Even iTunes takes full control of the other type of unit (COMPLETELY!) to convert...I think the fact we still have a factor of control on our devices to CHOOSE is befuddling people... If it was all fully auto then XDA would no longer exist!!!
ahh....hehe, good good
well...maybe coz i am converting prison break and stuff which is quite big in file....hehe
thanks all again

Video??? I can't even get WMP to sync more than 30 songs before dropping the connection. It took me 5 nights of sitting there reconnecting every 90 minutes or so just to get 4GB of music synced up. I have to say, this is one job the iPhone handles WAY, WAY, WAY better. The whole MS thing is just sad and disappointing.
It's funny that everyone talks about how it is nice to be able to install 3rd party apps to make your device better. Yes, you can not yet install 3rd party apps on the iPhone, but the biggest point is, in many case you don't need to. The browser works great, chat works great, music playback works great, video playback works great, google maps work great, email works great, etc....
My suggestion for video on the Kaiser is, don't waste your time with it. I have wasted 10s of hours trying and it is just not worth it. I have tried 6 different encoders including DivX, Pocket Divx, Handbrake, 4 different file types and countless bitrates, framerates and codecs.
tbh,i would really wanted an iphone but there are some major flaw that why i din buy it although its my dream phone
1st, its not available in my place officially(only can get cracked version), no 3g, no mms,can edit word, excel and blah blah
and although i dont knw will i face the same problem when i am syncing songs, as i haven try yet
but no, you dont need to waste 10hours to get ur kaiser to play video
just downlaod tctm, install it in kaiser
download divx, convert it as the 1st post says so, then upload to ur device...done
less then 30minutes all done

OK, BUT, please don't express your opinion until you have tested this yourself and posted any problems with it! Let others decide???
Many thanks..
That's a great idea, Farsquidge!
I know this topic has been covered extensively (see here), but all applications which provide help to the user are welcome.
A freeware alternative is available, too, which you may be interested in (and requires a bit of tweaking for us tech-inclined): http://www.pocketdivxencoder.net/

I am so sorry for your loss. My mother had breast cancer year before last, and my grandmother before her. It's great to know, though, that our children may have no need to worry about such a devastating disease with the research our generations are putting into this area. God bless you, Farsquidge!

Thanks, I have her in my heart always, and, as we were both from Yorkshire, England...she would say, 'If you don't mean what you say, I will tan your hide!!'

I use a product called "Wondershare DVD Ripper Suite" (has a ripper and a converter) and it has a nice batch feature as well. I have also had success with "SPB DVD" and "DVD to PocketPC" by a company called Makayama. "Ashampoo Shrink and Burn 3" does fine for me as well. Also, I have noticed that Windows Media Player performs some type of conversion/compression when syncing. For example, "Star Wars 3" is a 855 MB WMV file, but when I synced it to my device it was only 359 MB. However, when I transferred the original 855 MB file to my storage card using a card reader it was still 855 MB - what is Windows Media Player doing besides syncing?

It is probably doing its best to convert a video file (of which there are MANY formats) to the preferred WM AVI PDA format. If you do not have the corresponding CODEC in your PC WM player it will not even try..Everyone has to try to standardise their media format for the player designate. If you expect the file you have on your PC/Laptop to play the same on your portable device 100% without conversion then I am afraid you are living in cloud cuckoo land! The processor speed and video codecs are radically different for WM devices against full Windows machines. (irrespective of any driver omission before anyone starts!!)
Aspect Ratio is not only for screen playback... it is for what you expect from your device....
Havent even tryed to use the phone to watch video's yet, but going to soon and need some advice to what app i should use or if the one that Sense use is good enough.
Also need a "good" converter program to convert my vidoe files, i dont mind paying since i know what a hell a poor converter can be.
Hope for some fast reply since im off to my vacation soon
I use "Xilisoft DVD ripper Ultimate 5" (not free) to rip from DVD's I use this one because it has a cropfunction that I found in no other software.
After ripping I just convert using "Formate Factory" (free)
I've tried convert from a bunch of different formats and never encountered any problems.
I would recommand "Videora Android Converter"
That is the program that I use.
And it seem to work quite nice so far.
and it's free ofc!
Any software that works to convert for the Iphone works perfect, and any movies/shows that are converted to play on the Iphone will work.

I happened across a thread for a Video Converter app on SlateDroid.
Its a windows app but its designed with Android in Mind.
It specifically has a setting to convert videos suitable for the G Tablet as well as many other Android devices..
It converts videos faster than Handbrake!
And its FREE!!
Download link: FreeVideotoAndroidConverterv2.3.1
Big thanks to AlAbbo over at SlateDroid for this find!
Unless you want the ask toolbar & ask homepage, make sure you select the custom installation.
DVDVideoSoft.com also has a number of other free apps (windows sorry). I also use their Free DVD Video Convertor...it doesn't have an android or gTbalet specific profile, but the AppleTV preset (H264, AAC 160Kbit, stero) runs good on my gTablet. The DVDConvertor isn't very fast but the output plays well. I did a test conversion yesterday & converted The Warrirors Way from a 5.6Gb of video on the DVD to a 1.03Gb .mp4. Runs at nearly 24fps on Rockplayer.

I wrote the original post on SlateDroid.
Not trying argue or contradict...actually agree with you.
The Free Video To Android Converter DOES have a gTab specific preset (and other Android presets) BUT...
If you re-read my response to your post, I was talking about the Free DVD Video Converter (not the Free Video To Android Converter)....they are 2 separate animals.
I just re-downloaded & installed the Free DVD Video Converter on another PC to make sure something hadn't changed since I originally downloaded/installed it a month ago.
The Free Video To Android Converter does not convert DVDs directly and I was trying to give people another free option if you need/want to convert DVDs to watch on your gTab.

Hey Dude,
I apologize for the confusion my part.. And thanks again for the great find!
What is a good paid/free DVD Ripper that I can use?? I got one long time ago called 123CopyDVD but it seems like it doesnt work with new releases these days. I think I got it around 2005. Thanks for any recommendations.

Thanks guys, I have tried handbrake before and it wouldnt do copyright protection. Alcohold 120% has copyright protection too. Thank you LoopDogg, both of those worked perectly. AnyDVD copied all the files perfectly. Just gotta see how to convert those .vob to my girls phone or whatever she wants them on. i am using the clonedvd as i type and it let me choose a format type which has samsung phone (any android) will report on that after it finishes. about 1hr left now.

Indeed. Excellent software. Does all kinds of stuff.
Question, when converting .vob to any other format, it loses quality right? I love AnyDVD, copy entire DVD by-passes protection and when I play it through my laptop to my TV, quality is perfect, well because it plays the .vob files. But after converting to divx, mpeg4, or one other format i cant remember, quality is lose even if screen size is set to bigger, or quality output is raised, it still loses quality. Just dont know what options to choose to keep a good quality image. Mostly gonna be used for my girls phone and laptop to TV. Thank you.
Also, Ive chosen Android or Samsung Android phones format and quality is lose. Quality lose is normal?? Ive never really ripped a DVD, the first program I got, 123copyDVD was stupid. never did its thing and couldnt pass copyright protection.. even after I bought it and all.
I believe only an MKV with AC3+ and DTS won't affect the audio... Streaming an .mkv can be a headache...
I still use DVD fab, and I use plex to stream them.
Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing. ~Wernher Von Braun
The audio isnt affected. Its the video, you can see the pixels and little blocks..

Quite easily. That is what scientists do all the time - "the collecting of information about a particular subject". If you don't know something then you research to try and learn more or find out what you don't know.
Must have done him good as the guy quoted above designed the Nazi's V2 rocket and the USA's Saturn V - the rocket that enabled men to travel to the moon.
This is the mother of all DVD rippers.http://www.lgsoftwareinnovations.com/1clickdvdcopy.asp
When used in conjunction withy this program: http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html
MakeMKV is a good free one. I rip with it then convert using handbrake.
