youtube on windows mobile 6.1 - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I have a stock tilt thats preloaded with windows mobile 6.1. I want to install youtube on the tilt. Everytime when I tried to open the tcpmp file, it crashes. I browse the proble on xda and found ppl are using a different version of tcpmp (TCPMP 0.72RC1 Recomp 3 ). I installed that along with the flash bundle, but it still crashes. I don't want to use Skyfire or Opera, because itz very very buggy and lags like crazy on my phone. This lead to my other question, is there any good/free "safari-like" browser that someone can recommend? My main question is the youtube. Thanks.

There's tons of YT stuff... just search...

Yes, I See. Your device's OS not Official ROM. Its cooked ROM from Dutty!
DivX Player from www.divx.com (requires registration but is free, pretty fast and quality is ok, the interface is VERY basic though and it only plays MPEG4-based stuff).
CorePlayer from www.coreplayer.com (costs money but works like a charm, with DCS 1.1 ROM and CorePlayer 1.1.3 I can play all XviD movies except HR-stuff without dropped frames or sync problems).
PocketTV from www.pockettv.com (requires registration but "classic" version is free, "enterprise version is 15 bucks but supports more advanced options and acceleration. only works with MPEG/MPEG2 but is really fast and quite a high quality.)
Personally I just use CorePlayer 1.1.3 for now and I will surely upgrade to 1.2 once it arrives.
is it possible to still use the flashvideobundle with coreplayer?

Try to install mine version. Just came back from the GYM and I played music for 3 hours with TCMP.
I'm using Alex's UltraClean WM6.1 Beta2 and I have no problem installing and using TCMP 0.72. Played about 3-4 hours of music on it now, and tested a few videos.
Nope, even that one doesn't work on the official build of 6.1 I have.
"Unexpected program failure. Please send "crash.txt" to the developers. Program will now exit."
Apparantly it works on some of the WM6.1 ROMs and not on others. It doesnt on DCS v1.3, that I can confirm. Irritating to lack proper .flv support (which is really the most important for me personally). CorePlayer, DivX Player and whatnot is totaly irrelevant, because its the youtube streaming abilities that I find most fun. Streaming via StreamingMedia just sucks compared to TCPMP, also it only work over GPRS/EDGE/3G.
CorePlayer 1.1.3 is the best choice for insteading of TCPMP on my device with WM 6.1.
Thanks all!
For Use with youtube
I've found that TCPMP does not work on my particular 6.1 ROM. Try using http://tinytube.net instead of youtube. Unfortunately the interface and selection aren't as robust as youtube, but it pulls streams from multiple sources (google, yahoo, myspace, etc) and has a decent search engine. All streams end up going through the Streaming Media app.

The rom U use , the Dutty 6.1 beta is based on a older build that can use older radio and TCMP works.
The later builds cant use TCMP and must have any of the the newer radio.
Carlis
i need to get some application like TCPMP, in TCPMP i can turn off screen and still rewind song in pocket do you know something what have that function and run on official HTC wm6.1 rom??
TCPMP is a great player. I have it working in a WM6.1 19701 Build. Sometimes it takes a little finesse to get it working. I've added the correct cabs to this reply.
Make sure you do the following:
Put both files in the same place (either on the storage card or in main memory). I put them both on the storage card.
After you install each cab file, do a soft reset. (Make sure you remove any previous version before adding either cab).
Make sure you are going to the correct URL - www.youtube.com/?nomobile=1
It should work for you. It's the best player out there.
Oh, I almost forgot. I did have to install NET CF3.5 on one of my devices before it worked. I'm not sure if it was coincidence or necessary.
Also make sure that "flash video" is selected in Options/Settings/Select Page/File Associations in TCPMP.
or you can use this recompiled version of tcpmp

@ XtreMe_G: Thanks. That one works fine on the official HTC 6.1
smartphone tcpmp i downloaded from here crashes on wm6.1 on q9c

flash in browser?

I cant make flash work in any of the browsers (opera/ie)
Ive tried installing the adobe flash mobile app, but it makes no difference...
odd thing is the bundeled youtube app plays flash movies just fine?
no-one with insight on this?
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer_pocketpc/downloads/player.html
worked here, youtube showing movies in Opera.
I just installed the cab file from the link Riel provided and youtube worked FROM opera with no hitches.
Please edit title for ease in future searches, maybe something like
"cannot play flash on opera, pls help! KW:Lite, abobe, mobile, youtube"

Opera - why no you tube?

with the iphone if you go on a webpage that has an embeded you tube video then it launches the you tube app and plays. yet opera on the diamomd simply doesnt even show the embed video controls. why?k any way to get it to work?
Because Flash Lite 3.0 (required to run Flash video of the type that Youtube and various others use) is not actually installed in the Diamond.. We only have Flash Lite 2.0 for Windows Mobile so far. Flash Lite 3.0 was released on Symbian OS some time ago, and I know for a fact that Microsoft bought the rights (license) to use the software on WinMo but as to the specifics of that agreement, who knows.
We can only hope and wait, maybe someone else can provide more info.

One step forward - two steps back.
Its really stupid to not have flash enabled browser.
You cant browse half of the internet.
Kind of piss me off to buy a device so expensive and wont handle this simple task.
Thats why i was always against damn flash websites.
But it seems i dont have choice but use the now.
I have downloaded an Adobe Flash Lite program/applicatrion from this site. If I install it on my phone will it allow me to view websites with flash videos on them?
Some people have reported that Flash 7 for PPC works - others have said not.
Flash Lite 3 AKU will be brought out by Microsoft later this year apparently, alongside a new version of IE. It will most likely work with Opera 9.5
Opera 9.5 is fully compatible with Flash Lite 3 but it is up to the manufacturer whether they include it on their product or not. So really we should be looking to chastise HTC.
On roms which have opera build 1660 (like duttys 1.1), I installed flash 7 for ppc, and it did kind of work, albeit too slow - bbc's iplayer really did play, but at 1 frame per second, which is a valiant effort, heres hoping that the bbc develop a proper version for wm.
I've got duttys latest version, but that didnt have opera installed by default. Installing build 1660 and flash v7 doesn't work, as soon as a webpage with embedded youtube starts to render, the sip pops up and then opera just closes.
Not sure why opera can't just render a box/frame if it comes across a youtube embedded link, and then just call the youtube player if present when the link is clicked - surely it can't be that hard?
What about playing redtube.com vids??

I found a site that plays Youtube videos on the Tilt/ HTC Kaiser!

Check out this site to watch Youtube videos (and other videos from around the net). I have tried programs to make Youtube work, but it won't. I found this search site which I can finally watch videos. Does any one else Know any sites where you can do this?
The mobile site is at m.vtap.com (they have a regular web based site at vtap.com too).

What build of Opera 9.5 do you have? I have build 1957 and flashlite 3.1 and it doesn't seem to work on youtube. Thanks.
My Tilt plays youtube videos just fine, and on the regular website, not the mobile one.
I use PIE, have TCPMP with the flash media bundle installed within TCPMP's directory.
When I click on a video, TCPMP asks to play or save the videos... and it works perfectly. My Tilt came with the offical 6.1, I hard reset the ROM and got rid of the bloatware. It's easy.
I wonder if m.vtap.com works with my setup?

I'm using the same version it's the one ripped from Omnia. Hmm that's strange i've tried it on two seperate roms and it have worked. Did yougo through the thread on Flashlite 3.1 I'm sure you will find some answers there or try it out on clean rom.

I've just tried a app. called Fewidget it needed flash player 7 to work. After installing FP 7 youtube stopped working on Opera. Even uninstallation of Flash Player 7 didn't help. I had to soft reset to get it working again...so maybe you have or had flash player 7 installed on your phone?

Still cant get youtube to work...

Yes, I've searched and searched, this forum and others and can't seem to get this to work. I've installed the Flash Bundle and TCPMP, in the same place and neither IE or Opera 9 will stream even youtube mobile videos. What am I doing wrong?
BTW, stock ATT tilt WM 6.1
Thanks
Google youtube play
its an awesome program that allows you to play videos as well as save them and convert them into audio files which is pretty sweet for ringtones
haha
Oh and if you really want it browser style try skyfires new browser
opera mobile 9.5 is still in beta and does not currently support video
Or flash the latest official HTC WM6.1 ROM. It is the STREAMING MEDIA PLAYER integrated and works without additional configuration even through Pocket IE.
download skyfire browser and you should be able to view youtube videos with no probs or any video

I flashed the latest official HTC WM6.1 ROM as soon as it was released from AT&T a couple months ago, and still nothing (not PIE not Opera, not Iris) will stream video for me except Skyfire.
Just a quick question... did you do a soft reset?
If so and it still doesn't work then unistall your tcpmp and flashbundle.
I was having the same problems until I installed this combination of cabs.
1 TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-recomp-03.CAB

Obviously, install to the same location, soft reset and let the videos begin. To see applicable websites go to start\programs\video sites.html
Hope this works for you.
a solution if you're willing to pay a bit
I used TCPMP with the flash bundle with no problem for WM 6.0, but started having trouble with the 6.1 version as well. My solution... go with the upgraded version of TCPMP (CorePlayer). Yes, you have to pay for it, but it can allow for direct search/play of Youtube videos. It's also a pretty fanfreakintastic media player. It's going to cost you about 30 clams, but for me, it's well worth it. I've been playing videos and music with it nonstop since WM 6.1 came out without any problems. No crashing, no excessive pauses, nada.
