default browser DL Dir?

i cant find it anywhere, this is my first day with the g1 after using WM for 3 years and not real familiar with the linux dirs... TIA for any help

what if there was no SD card in it? i have one but there is no /download dir... i have downloaded 2 pics im trying to locate but cant find it anywhere

and i have astro FM but cant find them with a search either

should be under your download folder.

do *.jpg images not actually get downloaded? i downloaded an mp3 and it created and went to the /download dir, but then i downloaded the image again and still not showing up in that folder...

Yea they do, but sometimes it acts weird. I tried dl a mp3 earlier and kept getting jacked up.

well figured it out. it seems that stuff downloaded from myxer.com is the problem. anyone know why downloaded media from myxer dont show up in the downloaded folder, and where it does go if anywhere?

search around on your sdcard it SHOULD be in the downloads folder...don't know why it isnt

apps without apk file

ok how do you put a app on ur phone when you download it from the web n u only get a zip file..thz

some of them either have the .apk extension changed to .zip, for those just change .zip to .apk
others are in the .zip file and have to be extracted.
the OP will usually say which of these have to be done. or you can just open the .zip file and look. if it has the .apk inside of the .zip file then extract.
if it has a bunch of folders then rename .zip to .apk

ok i unzip the file there is a lot of file in it.do i just change the zip file to apk..i did that n it didnt work so what im doing wrong

did you select yes when you changed the extension?

ok the way im change the file is.... i right click then rename it to a apk file thats how im doing it

i don't know. i dl it and it gave it to me in .apk form. i uploaded it in the .zip for you though. extract it from the .zip file.

on your g1
first go to the site lukluk.org, once on the site go to download and click free luk luk then a download pop up will come out and dowload it once download is complete just click on the download and it will dowload. make sure you go to setting, application setting and check unknown sources
if you still need help just gtalk me @ [email protected]

im running jachero rom 2.1

how to access files stored in meory card.

i am using android 2.1 on my xperia x1.i am not able to access folders present in memory card.android file explorer shows the list of folders present but doesn't open them.
plz guide me how to access any specific folder as i want to install and test android applications.

Hi, you cannot access the files. =(

hello,
it's not clear if you want access file within android or just connecting your SD card to a computer.
Can you install apk file (i.e. downloaded from market place?)

i want to access files within android because i want to install apk files from memory card.
i tried to install apk files from market palce but after selecting any application, it shows downloading but doesnt finish download even after several minutes.

I have had similar problem, my 2GB sdcard was not full but I could non use at all, I formatted full FAT32 and put back the file. This solved the problem.

Are you saying that when you use something like OI file manager, you can not see any files on the memory card ?

i want to rom version of android2.2 too.

i dont have a solution for your problem, but if you have .apk files put it in the "Androidapps" Folder on your sdcard via PC and then run Android. It install automaticly if you start Android.

edit ######## nvm found it now i have two one is called boot and the other is downanimation. u said if i would like to keep my old i rename it .zipold right??? what about the downanimation??

Downanimation is for when you power off the phone. You can leave that alone.
Yes if you do not rename the old bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zipold it will over write the old file.

now how do i get it from the pc and into the actual system file??? not the sd card

You can push it through ADB if you have it installed but I don't want to confuse you.
1. Plug your phone into the computer. Mount disk drive. ( depending what rom you have you might have to put it in internet pass through mode then usb disk drive)
2. Drag the file onto the sd card. Unmount phone.
3. Using your favorite file manager( RECOMEND ROOT EXPLORER!!) move the bootanimation.zip from the sd card into the correct file folder.
4. With root explorer the correct file system should /system/media folder
inside the media file folder will be the old bootanimation.( rename it to bootanimation.zipold
5. paste new bootanimation.zip reboot and enjoy

Make sure root explorer is not mounted as read only. toggle it in the upper right corner

it wont let me rename move or copy from sd into sytem on file manager but im going to look into root explorer... thats a pay for app right?

Yes but it is worth ever penny and a rooted users best friend. You only have to pay for it once and will transfer to another device in the future with your gmail account. I have five devices that have my gmail account and all of them have my paid apps.

still tells me that i cant rename and or copy or move!!!! WTF!!!! lol.. u think i can flash this??

[Q]Root problem help me please

I have the bootloader cracked by me phone. I have followed all the steps then. When I'm in der Reboot the flash recovery at me Mobile, then I can not find the file find (Super user or whatever). I don't know where I should post the file on mobile to be able to find me. I can not come in those folders on the computer, but on the phone though. I have tried via ASTRO only that I can't. I have listed below a 2 movies uploaded so you guys can see what I mean. (sorry for me bad English, I use a translator)

I'll try to speak very clear English so when you use the translator it comes out nicely....put the "supersu" zip in your download folder...
Click install in twrp...click on "sdcard"...click on "download".. find the zip and click on it

What you need to do is:
- start your phone
- Unlock it
- Connect it to you PC with the USB cable
- Copy the supersu.zip file on the SD card of you phone, for exemple create a new folder called "SuperUser" on the root of your sd card
- Restart your phone in recovery
- choose to install zip from sdcard
- go in the /sdcard/SuperUser folder, choose the supersu.zip file and flash it
