Diamond Screen Scratches - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi,
How is the easiest way to remove the scratches off the Diamonds screen (if possible)?

when u get a new valued item like a diamond, put a screen protector on it & then you wouldnt be asking questions like this buddy
I dont think theres a way to unscrape a scrape.

I dont think there is a way to remove scratches.
But you can prevent a scratch using screen protector.
You may feel painful for the first couple of months when you scratch your Diamond. Believe me, after half a year, you not even care about those scratches anymore.

I didn't think I'd need a screen protector. Mainly because every other phone I've had has been treated a LOT worse than my Diamond. Especially when I had my TyTN 2. That got dropped constantly and everything and had no marks on the screen. And the fact I've never gotten a screen protector go on properly. Shouldn't one of those creams like for the iPod etc. work? Or would that screw around with the digitizer?

Love the Diamond, But the screen????

Is it just me not being careful enough with my diamond?
Because it does not take much for my screen to get scratched.
Compared to my htc touch, there is a big difference.
I already needed to buy a tube to try and polish the scratches out.
Waiting for my screen protector to arrive and hope its better then the one from brando because i had to wash it and then i just never got it clean again.
could not get the fingerprints of it and always left some water stains (even when i use a blow dryer)
This is the only thing which disappoints me and also surprises me!
Anyone els noticed this?
didnt u get a oem screen protector in the box?
as posted just now: haven't you applied the screen protector, since this is a different type of screen then your previous phone there is a reason it is being shipped with a screen protector!
I ordered a thicker screen protector when I placed my order. No scratch what so ever and the phone is almost all the time accompanied with my keys or lighter ...
I did get it but i messed it up by accident...
and i also received one with my htc touch but i did not need one for that phone.
it did not scratch that easily.
So because of this i thought i would not need to order a new one, now i see i was wrong.

Where did you get a thicker one? I have the one that came in the box on my Diamond just now which seems fine - but I also messed up when putting it on and its slightly squint. I would like to get a replacement - but the HTC store are only currently selling them in packs of 6!

I know what you mean /sigh
HI,
I've managed to get a few small scratches on mine.
Can't think how. I always carry it on it's own in a soft pocket - the same pocket I used for my old Orbit 2 and Orbit & Jamin before it etc... none of which ever scratched.
Was even being careful while I waited for a better screen protector...
Seems to scrtach quite easily...
So, does anyone have any ideas on how to minimise effect of/repair small scratches? There are plenty of solutions for plastic screens but I can't find any reliable advice for the Diamond (or the iPhone for that matter - I searched for iPhone as it has a similar hard glass screen and has been around longer)...
All ideas welcome!
Thanks.
The screen protector looks exactly the same as those bundled with Vario II and III and I must say it's rubbish. I bought 2 from Taiwan or China on ebay for a quid inc. shipping and they are a bit thicker and they don't descrease the quality of colours as the standard ones.

Hairline scratch on screen, removal??

Hey,
Just got my HTC Diamond (Well, MDA Compact IV).
Ordered a bloody screen protector but some how this morning it got a small scratch which now annoying the hell out of me >_<.
Is there any way to remove it? I've read lots of solutions but a lot of people say beware due to the touch screen.
Any advise welcome
Kash
Yeah it is a pain when that happens.. My advice.. just apply the screen protector and you shouldnt be able to notice the scratch anymore
Scratch removal...
You could use toothpaste.... it sounds crazy I know, but it does work for very fine scratches. After all, toothpaste is an abrasive

question for the former g1 owners

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed this, but the screen on my g1 is very grippy after being cleaned with a cloth (and it's really hard to clean). my dad's iphone (while still a bit grippy after a cleaning) is generally much nicer to use as far as swipes and gestures go. my question is how 'grippy' is the N1's screen compared to the g1 and the iphone and how easy is it to clean.
also, I have heard many complaints about the touch sensitive buttons under the screen. how bad are they (do they not register, or does it just require alot of pressure? do they inhibit daily use?)
I am thinking about buying a nexus, but I don't want it to end up my g1 (love it for android and all of the different roms available, hate it for the sub par hardware)
also, how easily does it scratch (eg, does it need a protector or is it ok naked) my dad abuses his iphone (w/o) a screen protector and it is scratch free. I baby my g1 and it has a bunch of small scratches.

the screen isn't grippy at all.
It's very scratch resistant as well.

Yeah I'll second that. My Dream was terrible with scratches. I babied it too and it still ended up with scratches that got in the way. I've noticed the Nexus is very good both in terms of grippiness and resisting scratches.
As for the touch buttons, weeks before I got mine I had read everywhere that the buttons were a nuisance and whatnot. But I hit them all dead on the very first time I turned mine on. So from what I've experienced, this isn't an issue at all.
Edit: That video is ridiculous but reassuring!
I haven't had a screen protector on my N1 at all and screen is flawless. Clean it all the time, put it in my pocket..no scratches whatsoever.
so the screen is easy to wipe clean? on my g1 I have to rub it really hard to get all of the oils + residues etc off
Yeah it's very easy to clean.
Jeans are the best cleaning material
Had a screen protector on both so not sure. The only thing I miss about the G1 is the keyboard, and mainly because Nesoid was easier with the keys. Other than that, I love the Nexus. Not as many roms or updates, but that is because there is less improvement needed. Don't regret trading up at all.
I don't miss anything from the G1.
I like the form factor I get from a virtual keyboard way more.

same. I thought I 'needed' the hard keyboard but I almost always use the soft keyboard.

Possible digitalized problem

Hi guys, ran into a little problem with my phone. Have you ever try to use your phone with a wet finger or if the screen is wet?
Every now and then my phone acts like that. At first I thought it was because my hands were wet. So I wipe my screen. It solved the problem but the problem returns. Now I notice that its not not wiping the phone that fix the problem. Its turning the screen off and on that fix it. I already change to a new screen protector. So my conclusion is that it might be the digitalized problem.
What do you guys think ? If I'm going to take it back to Verizon for an replacement. I'm going to return it for a note 4. I really don't want to pay for a refurbished phone.
P.s. As I type this on the phone. It acts up again.

Have you tried it without a screen protector? It sounds like a screen protector problem, unless you've already tried it without one. Screen protectors are not needed with modern phone screens unless you are a lifeguard or you drop your phone a lot in a diamond factory.

Or your like my wife and you have 3 diamond stud earrings in each ear, or your like me and work in a open pit mine. Or you do any type of heavy industrial work.
Don't be fooled, it doesn't have to be a diamond to scratch gorilla glass...
Pulling it in and out of a chest pocket on a sitka hunting jacket for two weeks left surface scratches on mine (while i was waiting for the screen protectors to arrive)

Yup, sand is the most likely culprit, whether inside a pocket or in the environment in general, which is why I provided the full reference link. Either way, it's certainly worth making sure it's not the screen protector before returning a product.

[Q] About Screen protection, did our device really need it?

So my question is quite straight-foward.
When you bought your Xperia SP?
Did you use screen protector all of this time?
Did we really need screen protector or not? Please share your experience, with or without it.
I bought mine on June 2013, and since that, my screen almost never had contact with fresh air. Always protected using 3rd party screen protector. I'm too afraid to peel off mine. My screen protector had a few quite scratch. So now I have two option, buy new one, or live without it. Need opinions.
Thanks alot guys.

One year ago my father almost threw my SP into a brook. Fortunately it didn't land in the water but on the gravel that constituted the bank of the brook. The phone now has got some scratches on the left side of the aluminium frame and on the screen there's only this small and superficial scratch (look in the phone's corner in the attached photo). Even if the impact wasn't a very strong one, I'd still say that the screen protector isn't needed unless you often hit your phone with violence

I bought mine in December 2013, and similar like you, the screen is fully protected the second it was bought from the Sony centre.
It has also been replaced a multiple of times. I used the plastic one, which is also the first one, for quite a long while. for about a year if i could pinpoint correctly. It worked fine back then, no peels at the edges and such, just that i discovered we can find glass screen protector on ebay and decided to use glass one ever since.
Coincidentally; i am currently waiting for a new one to arrive
------
So stories aside, i think you would be better off with a screen protector. A slight scratch on my screen would bother me so much — not that i am obsessed with having a scratch free screen to show off to people, it's just that a single scratch could distort the content on the screen (ie that RGB stripes that you can see) and that bothers me so much. If it is on a screen protector i can accept that because I know if i replace a new one the thing will go away but if it is really on the real phone screen then that's another story of indefinite frustration.
So yeah, TL;DR: Get a screen protector
But yeah; personal opinion should not dictate other's choices.

Yeah, considering the SP has a flat screen, a tempered glass would provide great protection from accidental drops while giving you that "naked" display feeling compared to film protectors.
It's almost my third year with my xsp. I haven't used any screen protectors except the first few months, but there's not even a single scratch or anything looks and feels bad on my screen. I dropped it a lot, even from the second floor but screen is still fine.
But use one anyways.
XSP Screen
XSP has scratch less glass. Unless you hit it with nail, it won't get any scratch. I suggest you to not to cover it. It looks beautiful without cover.
I bought mine more than three years ago, on July 2013. On first month, without a screen-film, it started to get minor and almost invisible little scratches, probably from walking long distances with it shaking on my pocket. So I decided to put a screen-film and have been using it since then. Never changed the film, I will soon.
About covers or frame-bumpers, I would recommend one. My SP got a crack on the lower blinker glass after a drop in the garage. After the rubber cover I dropped it a lot of times and the glass is still ok.
I have had mine for just over 3 years now. It came with a screen protector in the box. I messed up trying to install it and as dust was stuck between it and the screen, I removed the protector within less than an hour.
3 years later, the plastic surrounding the screen is in quite a poor state but the screen itself is immaculate.
