Hi,
I'm running Vista 32bit hiere with latest Mobile Device Center and an O2 XDA diamond flashed with latest HTC ROM. All fine but MDC always syncs my emails and attachments to the phone's memory and not to the internal 4GB memory card. Where the hell can I change this?
I had an XDA neo before and there it synced to the SD card by default...

Hi Peeps,
Its been a while since i've been in the PDA scene... the TyTN II tempted me back.
Took delivery of my SanDisk SDHC 4Gb card this morning, plugged in and working a-okay.
Now, I'm wanting to install all my apps now. The installer greys out the option to choose your own install location?! Wanting to keep system memory to the max you see...
Anyone know how i get around this?
Cheers,
Matt
Do you install using ActiveSync ? Which version?
I sure do... well i'm running vista so is the "Windows Mobile Device Center" now - version 6.1.6965
i am having similar problem but my sd install is not greyed out but there is a problem with programs that have to write to the SD card.
I installed 2 programs that I have installed on a WM 6 ROM on my 8525 - these programs have to sync data and the data is written to a folder where the program is installed. If I install the program on the main memory of the TyTN II then it works just fine but if install it to the SD card it will not work - it locks up when trying to write data on the SD card of the TyTN II.
Any ideas on how to change security or access to the SD card so the device has full access to it????
It looks serious problem
However, it could be that the application is not yet compatible with the Tytn II ?
I think it is worth to ask to the developer of the application, he might have a clue or could create somekind of debug tool to verify.
I have not installed anything to the SD though.

Try this, will you?
I've found this app on another forum, but couldn't try it yet since i still am waiting for the arrival of my sdhc card.
Also, try these too.

I'll try the drivers and let you know but the problem is that I this issue with 2 different programs both of which worked fine on my Hermes with WM6 Roms!
I tried the different SD drivers and the TyTNN II was not able to access the SD card at all until I uninstalled the driver.
Interestingly the problem is only when the applications try to write to the card while doing a "sync" process where the app writes updated data to the SD card. The program otherewise works fine and installs fine.
Btw , it is only a 2GB card. I tried reformatting it and using a different card but no luck.
I think the issue is some sort os a security thing where the OS is errantly preventing writing to the SD card within the application.
Any other suggestions? I'm going to notify the place where I bought the Kaiser but also going to try to contact HTC.
I contacted HTC and they said that the device hadn't "really been released" yet and that with third party software they would not be of any help !!!!!!!!!
Can't believe they were so unhelpful. I even explained that others were having some other issues with SD cards and that it was more than one progeam giving me problems.
His answer was to - "just install your programs in the main memory"
Hope i don't experience such a thing with my universal since i just ordered a 4gb sdhc 2 days ago!

Well, that won't work at all, since the Universal doesn't support SDHC!!!!
* unless you are using the new WM6 rom with SDHC support!

THAT SOUNDS Annoying
there are some programs that just dont work being installed on the external storage. spb mobile shell is one of them and i know their are others. its because of the way the os boots is has to be on the internal storage for it to work properly. its not a fault, its ben the same with wm5 some apps are just meant to be instaslled on the internal storage. so check on hte applications home page or where you downloaded it from for its compatability and installation instructions

Absolutely - however, in my case the program (according to the developers who are working diligently with me to solve this issue) say the program I have been sucessfully using 2003, WM5 and then WM6 installed on the SD card (for several years) will NOT work on the Kaiser.
There is undoubtedly something different about the device and how it handles communication with the SD card. I have tried differnt cards (size, brand etc) and still the Kaiser won;t allow the program to write to the card during certain phases of a "sync" process.
Hopefully this is not a major issue for others but for my sake I hope it is enough of an issue to get some attention form someone smarter than me so I can (selfishly) get a fix for my issue
can anyone help? ive just brought a 2gb sd card and my o2 xda iis wont read it? is there a patch or software to help?
2gb cards are general ones any pda can read them if u r getting any problem try some other cards on ur pda, if they works repalce the 2gb asap.
tried a 128mb card and it wont read that either...
Make sure the card isn't a SHDC-type of card (most likely not, but one never knows).
Does the phone even see the card, or does it just have problems reading it?
Tried reformatting it in the phone? A known issue is many programs on a stand alone computer will try to format SD cards as drives (floppy or otherwise), which is the wrong formatting for flash devices.
no its not a shdc card.. ive no idea how to format the card in my phone ( a o2xdaiis), it shows the slot in use but no storage card

Well, you can format it from your computer using a card reader and the flash formatter software from panasonic, or you can get an evaluation version of various different programs for the PPC platform that will do it as well.
Google for it, there are a lot of different ones and I've only ever used the panasonic software and a usb card reader.
not hain any luck .. got a flash card programme but my xda wont read any memory cards at all

If the cards are readable with the computer and/or other devices but not in the phone, I would suspect a hardware or potentially software problem with the phone.
Has the phone been able to read any cards at all, or is this the first one you have tried?
Have you tried backup up your data and hard resetting the phone?
tried a 128mb card and the 2 gb.. it reads the slot in use but no memory card ..think the problem may well be the phone... it had mobile 2003 on when i brought it have now upgraded to mobile 6 and still donrt work

Hi, basically I put my 512mb micro sd card in to my X1 and then check if it is working, but it says Not Installed.
I tryed another card and same problem. I have formatted to fat32 and still same problem. But when I put my phone in to Disk Transfer it says insert memory card etc. but on my Windows machine it shows me the memory card.
It seems like software to me, is there anyway of fixing this?
I have also installed the HARD SPL to install a new ROM but unable.
Anyhelp is great
Hi guys,
I need some help,
I was trying to change my SD card (16gb) to my HTC 8GB stock one. I copied all files from the 16gb to my pc and then to the 8gb card.
But when running apps on the 8gb they don't open, it gives an error something like "it's not signed or a component is missing"!! It says the same thing for all apps on the SD card.
I installed again the 16gb card and it now gives the same error!
I noticed that there is a folder on the sd card called "Windows Mobile - ActiveSync" with a certificate in it! I don't remember installing any certificate, but I have my exchange account configured on the device.
Do you guys have any clue what could be the problem?
Also in activesync the phone it's not syncing (but it connects) and I can't connect anymore with my exchange account via 3G!
I was noticing in the last days that my data connection (3G) was connecting many times, and I had it in manualy connecting only.
Ps: I was doing a backup of the SD card before testing the android build...
It looks like that I also can't reinstall the apps!
I notice also that some apps I have it on the phone memory and not on the SD card, but neither from SD or phone they run!
The fix seems to be formating the SD card on the phone and not in windows, and then copy the data in to the card.
Hi,
Im using safestrap 3.74 and CM11 - 4.4.4. I know about the problem with sd card and internal storage with new rules from google. But I have in settings shows 2 internal storage one is 8GB other one 3,56GB. The first one 8GB is full and the phone using it as SD card and then it show my SD card. Is this normal? Because I have problem to manage that. I have some apps in one internal storage other apps in other one and everything is a mess. Or if you could send me thread about it I could find anything.
thank you
