o.k. There seems to be two ways to solve this.
If you want to keep the software keyboard do this:
go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...2&postcount=36
1. Download & install the KforTouchPro app.
2. Launch KforTouchPro (It is installed into the Games folder)
3. Click the Switch to M$ IME button.
4. Click Minimize in the lower right corner
5. Launch Logmein using PIE
6. Type away using your hardware keyboard.
If you only use the Hardware Keyboard and do not want to use KforTouchPro:
This is a simple Regedit.
[HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e001 0409]
(MS IME mode)
Ime File = \windows\compime.dll
Layout Text = COMP IME
-or-
(HTC T9 mode)
Ime File = \windows\eT9ime.dll
Layout Text = eT9 IME
WOO HOO!!!!!!!! Thank you very much to KevinGibert, fhsieh, and Colorado_al

Is this a fuze issue or a logmein issue?

Same issue, on my TouchPro, with stock ROM and now with Elite ROM, same issue.
Anyone got any work around?
Same problem. Since my previous device was a Touch, I never missed/used a slide out keyboard. The keyboard works just fine on the Kaiser. I'm going to question Logmein on this issue.
glad to see i am not alone! I have been having the same problem
Yeah, one thing I dont understand is that the virtual keyboard from the apps doesnt work either...?
Also what Cab are you guys using for the remote client?
RACtrlCE?
I'm having the same issue, I think it would help if we all submitted a support ticket.
Ah, crap. Me too.
There is a workaround:
If you change your input method to the default WM keyboard by pressing to the right of the keyboard icon and choosing "Keyboard" before you start the session, you will be able to use the soft-keyboard. Still no hardware keyboard.
It sucks, but at least it works. If I can't have a fully functional LMI setup on my FUZE, I'm returning it.

Fix
Here's an app someone made in another thread. Basically the reason the hardware keyboard won't work with some legacy apps is because of the way the touch pro's auto completion system works. This app lets you switch it off.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2791652&postcount=36
Has anyone had the opportunity to test this app yet? I dont have my fuze with me today because I was kind enough to swap phones with my wife today to see if she wants to upgrade from her BB Pearl.
I would love to know if this works so I can update the first post with the info.

Make sure you're not using T9. On the QWERTY KBD, there is a switch for ABC - T9. Make sure it says ABC, then switch keyboards, and try it again.
Not sure, but worth a try.
I just tried the above posted CAB and it still does not work. The only keys that work... and they worked prior to the CAB were the arrow keys and the Del key.
Al,
Which ROM are you using?
I tried with this CAB in the past, didnt help.
T9 is one of the first thing I disable as well...
I just tryed again with Elite ROM, no changes. I can use shift/tab/del/enter/arrows, but no letters/numers/special characters =(
Just spoke to Support, they know about the issue, it has been escalated but there is no fix at this time nor is there a timeframe for an update.
Just wait till more people get there hands on FUZEs from AT&T, then they will blow their FUSEs!
So right now the best thing I can think of is to enable the onscreen keyboard (OSK.EXE) in windows and place a shortcut on ur quick lauch. What a shame... that we have this nice slideout keyboard and no use for it!
I feel bad for the people who pay for logmein pro, although I am sure they have more influence than I do as a free user.

That would me me... Unfortunately, I don't think I influenced anyone during that call. Not to say that 200 - 300 support tickets for the same issue wouldn't either. IMO I think anyone having problems with the TP keyboard and logmein should report it to Logmein whether they pay or not, it might get them to move on it a bit faster.

I just submitted this just now...
Hello, I am currently unable to use the built-in keyboard of my new phone in Windows Mobile 6.1.
My phone is a HTC Touch Pro also known as the ATT Fuze, I and other user of the same phone all have the same issue.
I am told it`s a known Issue, can I expect a patch/workaround or a newer CAB to address this issue?
Thanks

You might try the software found in this post:
http://www.forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2791652&postcount=36
It changes the weird raphael IME to a default one. Works for me in PocketGBA and even DOSBox and TomTom.
If it works, maybe you encourage the author to open a thread especially for this software as I searched quite a while to find a workin solution for the strange keyboard behaviour.

I'd like to use the HTC Touch keyboard on my Tilt for the times that I don't want to slide out the keyboard, but installing it seems to break the autocorrect feature when I am using the hardware keyboard. I see a few other people mentioning this in various threads, but I have yet to see any mention of a solution to this problem. I've tried all sorts of combinations of enabling and disabling autocorrect and various xt9 features, but the only way I can get autocorrect back is by uninstalling the HTC Touch keyboard.
By autocorrect, I'm referring to the ability to type in "il" and have it automatically change to "I'll"
Hi - did anybody find a solution to this? I've been searching high and low!
I'm in exactly the same boat - I love HTC keypad as it really helps me use the Kaiser one-handed, but I really miss the auto-correct on the hardware keyboard.
Is there a version of this SIP that doesn't break auto-correct?
I tried the HTC phonepad, but just couldn't get used to it after using the newer Keypad.
I would love to have a good T9 style SIP, but also have autocorrect on the hardware keyboard......anybody that can help?
Thanks!
I'd noticed that too, quite annoying as the touch keypad is so useful.

I too found the same issues yet I loved the T9 input using the touch pad. I removed the xT9 one and installed this one instead.
You still get T9 and it works fast too. The internal keyboard auto correct also works with it too.
Is also made by HTC but can't remember where I found it. May have been on here before or recently.
I've been earching for a solution to this as well for months now. The autocomplete that XT9 disables is part of wm6 which it calls "word completion." When XT9 is installed via htc keypad, word completion ceases to work along with the feature that auto-fills contacts as you start to type a new SMS.
Thanks for posting that pkonepad cab, but unfortunately.that' the sip that radatia mentioned above. The buttons on the new HTC touch phonepad are bigger and easier to use.
What we really need is someone here that knows some programming to somehow alter the touch phonepad so that xt9 can be toggled on and off (without a registry change and restart), or better yet somehow change it to use a T9 like the phonepad's instead of xt9...
I have exact same problem. I love the htc virtual keyboard because became useful. However once I installed it, the hardware keyboard word completion no longer work I need that too because I use it.
I have another question, do anyone know if I can make the default windows word completion to auto select the top most word suggested list so I can just enter space bar to select it. Now I always have to use down key to select the word 1st. Not efficient.
Just wanted to bump this topic. There have got to be others out there who share our frustration... and someone who can put an end to it!
I've given up on the HTC Keypad, much as I like it and it making the device usable one-handed.
Have moved onto the PocketCM Keyboard as my preferred SIP just so that I can still keep word completion when using the hardware keyboard.
Hope that someone posts here if a solution is eventually found......
oh man!
I'm the opposite.. how I wish the hardware keyboard is not auto correct enabled when I use it.
I've tried dis-abling the auto correct etc.. dun seem to work..
now using Resco keyboard..
it's the next best thing, but kinda defeats the purpose of getting the tytn II in the first place.
Yes the touch keyboard has many issues when used on kaiser. i can't get autocomplete to work with the hardware keyboard either unfortunately.
I do know that "multiword completion" in the xt9 settings or whatever is a bad thing and causes other problems, so i uncheck that. But, still can't figure out how to get autocomplete to work.
I spent a lot of time searching and installing/uninstalling these things to try and find a perfect mix, no luck though. It's still QUITE usable for me, but i would like auto complete for hardware keyboard, though, i dont think i'd use it as i type realy fast anyways with it.
It's quite hard to justify buying a keyboard when we are able to install a free one that *almost* does what we want! pcmkeyboard with iphone buttons and XL touch skin is good, but i am realy starting to like xt9.
:-( i have this problem now and love the keyboard...
Has anyone tried it yet? Does it work? Looks nice, probably way better than the diamond one. I'm still waiting for my diamond so I can't try it out myself. If someone would be so kind, I'd really appreciate it.

There are lots of staff in Touchpal V3 which Diamond one doesn't have.....

Better use FingertouchPro directly.
It's by far superior, supports several languages, and uses very little CPU. All in one, it's a more compact product, designed with high speed text input technologies , I've seen two on the website: www.fingertouchpro.com
Why choosing touchpal when are several other (better) alternatives?

I did, unfortunatelly
I tried it and had to give up. There is absolutely no way to move the 'space' key in the T9 layout, unlike the other layouts. Which makes it unsafe to use when holding in the right hand I find.
Did you enable "Allow drag able keys"?
I have no problem moving the keys around, ncluding space.
TouchPal V3 the greatest SIP by far. Ever since I had started using it I rarely use the slideout hardware keyboard on my TyTn II

It does work in landscape mode, but not as you might expect:
it will not scale the buttons like for the iPhone. You will get left and right borders, so it is not easier to type with.
But: I bought it, the swifting feature is wonderful. Just try it, you have some day of fully free usage!

Better? Maybe in your opinion.
I, and many other people, find Touchpal much better and more advanced than the alternatives.
From the tone of your messages, it sounds like you had some problem with Touchpal...well fair enough, but maybe you should describe what the problem was?
I've been using Touchpal for some months, first on my Touch Cruise, and now on my Diamond, without any major problems. With the latest version 3.5 is just gets better and better.
Ben
Is version 3.5 really that much better then the Diamond's own keyboards ?
Obviously the sliding of keyboards and stretching are cool... but are the keys that much easier to use ? I know its not that expensive, but it still takes up space and cpu cycles on the phone.
Maybe good idea to see how well I get on with the built in keyboards first then instal the trial.

Have looked everywhere and don't see that as an option. I can move the space key in the usual keyboard layouts but none other.
Any ideas where the setting is?
Cheers
EDIT
Apparently you can't move the space key in T9 layout due to the disambiguation that occurs down left side. A HUGE mistake in my opinion as having the space to the right makes this a very unsafe keyboard to use right handed. My Diamond is too precious to risk dropping for a space key. Back to the original T9 for me then! That's a lost purchase on CooTek side.
Vlingo, the awesome speach to text program has released a beta for Windows Mobile.
Unforunately, the Raphael isn't supported yet.
When I try to install the cab, it quits and says my phone isn't supported yet. I wonder if it doesn't support our devices because of a technical limitation, or they just haven't tested yet. Can we modify the cab so it doesn't quit on the Raphael?

I am testing it now and i think the problem is assigning it a hardware key since htc thought it would be wise not let anyone assign the hardware keys to what they wanted and as you go through the setup it asks you so pick a hardware key to launch the app from so unless you have a modded keypad.dll file you might have a hard time with this app.

I set what you mean. It's asking me to map button "???", but only button "Send Key(hold)" appears in the buttons window.
Loaded it up and mapped it to the talk (hold) button, then later changed it to the PTT button. It works, but it doesn't seem to like 6.5 much. It crashes when trying to send an email and if I try to say "email or text john smith" but if I say email or text and no name it brings up the window, but eventually crashes again. The errors are consistent with other programs that don't like 6.5. Otherwise it looks like some good competition for TellMe that should be released soon. I will keep toying with it.
The search seems to work well, although the program again is not finger friendly in 6.5.
Anyone have experience with VLingo and 6.1 or 6.0?

HTC Fuze
Hi - this is some great and clever work. We're glad to see users finding a way on their own devices. A few points to clear things up for you guys:
You are correct we don't support WM 6.5 on any devices.
The reason you can install on the fuze is because we did some internal testing and we allow the HTC Fuze model to make it through the install/setup. As you can see the graphics aren't fully there for this device compared to the other devices. As you mentioned the inability for average users to select a suitable key to map vlingo too on the HTC Fuze lead us to dropping official support on the device. For folks as eager as you guys - loves it - the normal touch vlingo.cab should install on the HTC Fuze running on WM 6.1. Please note that since this is a beta you will run into some glitches and since this device was not officially supported it may have more glitches than we'd like.
Please let us know if you have any additional feedback or run problems via our support channel - www.vlingo.com/support.jsp (the last question in the FAQ has a link to our support form).
Thanks for helping us with our beta testing.

Glad to see Vlingo here in the forums! I enjoy torturing my device daily, and look forward to 6.5 support in the future. As for the keyboard button remap, I think that was addressed in Rom update about a week ago from HTC, so this may solve the issues for the Fuze owners. If not, XDA users have apps to fix it. I also ran vlingo on the iphone and it's great. Keep up the active support and research.

What I don't understand is if there is a problem with mapping a button on Vlingo why didn't they just copy the iphone's UI so we could just push it on our touchscreen instead of mapping it if that was the case then iphone shouldn't be supported either.

Any way you can post a CAB of the patched keyboard?
I tried it on NRG's 3.0 series and it would let me map (prolly because he uses Da_G's kitchen) but it wouldn't let me send text/email or initiate call. It was pretty much broken.
So I grabbed the only 6.1 rom that is still somewhat being updated: Elite RC4. However it must not have the patched keyboard, because I can't get past the intitial setup of vlingo, as it won't let me assign a command to the "???" button.
I really want to get this working! I think it'd be a lot quicker sending texts since the spacebar on my keyboard only works 10% of the time... heh
This seems to be the most active thread about vlingo...I have an htc herald and am using the fixed cab from this thread. It seems the key to the button setup is to use the number 1 button specified on your device. I struggled with this for some time. although i have vlingo activated through my buttons, none of the capabilities are working. after it tells me to speak and it starts thinking it comes back with two different errors. both errors are telling me it can't find the server and to check my data connection.
I am looking for an SIP keyboard similar to EZ-Input 2. I really like how the keys are so big an easy to use, almost like the Iphone keyboard. I can't use the one in the developers sub forum, since I just discovered that it was the cause of my hardware keyboard to not function correctly. If anyone has a version of it that works, or another suggestion, let me know. Thanks.
Try using FingerKeyboard 2.1. I use it and it's very good. It has haptic feedback and pops up the keys pressed just like the iPhone Keyboard. Very good from my part.
Thanks. I have used it before, and will be using it again now for the time being. I was wondering though if there were any keyboards with even bigger keys though? This would make typing even easier.

It seems that the awesome keyboard app called Swype has been ripped off the Samsung Omnia II and a CAB has been created to install on winmo WVGA devices.
Info on Swype can be found here: http://www.swypeinc.com/
CAB located here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ungnttnzmwa/Swype.cab
I installed it on my Imagio and let's just say that I am NOT going back to the regular keyboard anytime soon!!!!!

Did you do a soft-reset?

No soft reset required. At the bottom of the screen, there's usually that keyboard icon. Just to the right of it is a small arrow. Using the stylus helps for those of is big fingered folks.
Click that arrow and up will pop a menu. Select "Other Input Methods" and then select Swype.
You won't need to do that again, unless you do a soft-reset of the phone at any time.
Ahhh there it is; thx buddy.
Former BB users have stylus "lapses" from time to time....
No problemo.....
us newbies have to stick together.
Best Keyboard I have ever used!
Awesome working great easy to use
I have the vzw tp2. this thread should be in something else since it works on other devices.
also why won't the keyboard stay on swype when you turn off the phone?
thanks its working perfect
Might just be the best app for WM yet!
I was skeptical . . . but now I am hooked! It takes a bit of getting used to, but it REALLY does make typing on a soft-keyboard easy. I don't need no STINKING slideout keyboard!
You can use SIPChange to make Swype be the default keyboard when you do a power off/power on.
