I bought two of these to see if I could start selling them for a profit...that pretty much backfired. I paid well over $500 per phone for them....willing to sell for $500 each with free shipping!
Paypal or credit card accepted (I have an off road retail business http://www.AlpineSandToys.com)
Both are new in boxes and have never been used. USA versions.
Dale
don't think they really worth $500 anymore when auctions goin for $250
no its actually the sprint phone that are going for around 250 the gsm versions are still at 550 and up on ebay , they are 800 at radioshack and around 600 at cti miami

got it off ebay (free shipping) just wondering if i got the average deal or not
They seem to go for between $330 and $390 on the US site, just do a search for 8125, select phones only and show completed items only. In saying that, not all of them are new, but quite a few claim to be at least. $400 looks to be top end of the market price, but if you're happy with the phone and can afford the asking price then just enjoy it and don't go window shopping after the purchase, it can and usually will lead to disappointment, since you will always find something cheaper after you've handed over your money.
^ good point lol. buyers remorse sucks
btw i love the 8125.. my first HTC phone (first PPC at that) and it most definately wont be my last.
Definitely on the top end range to pay $400. You should try craigslist.org in your area. I just bought a brand new 8125 for $280 last month via craigslist. I met with the seller and fully inspected the item before I bought it. So less risk and much cheaper than ebay. Something to try on your next purchase.
Hi
If you sing up for a 2 yr plan with Cingular or T-Mobile...you can get the MDA/8125 free after rebate from www.letstalk.com

Almost one year old post
You were fooled (as i was too) by the new automatic sorting of the forum; threads are being sorted by the title instead of the date.
I bet a mod or an admin touched somewhere he shouldn't have and still didn't notice.
???
wow I paid $249 + $9 ship earlier this year in Janurary. Absolute mint condition, there were lots of 45 at a time. I'd think prices have since dropped and will really drop when iphone releases in a couple days?? If you paid over $300 since then that sucks... : \

The Comp Usa around the corner from me is going out of businness. They have three MDA,s $450 - %40 OFF. Good deal or not? Should I buy the batch? They also have a ton of other phones including a ppc 6700, treo's, razr's.... all %40 off.
Free Phones at Amazon.com
Go to amazon.com and get a mda phone for free, or actually about $50, cause in mine they kept the $50 rebate out of it, otherwise it would be free. Of course, this is with a two-year contract for T-mobile. But for me, it was worth it.

if you are buying them with out a contact for 40% off then I would say its a good deal especially considering you can still sell them new on ebay for around 400
Just curious.
I bought my AT&T Tilt for $99 (after a $100 rebate) from Cartoys Online.
I've heard of people paying as much as $1000 for their phone. I assume thats for an unlocked unbranded version.
How much did you pay?
$399, with two $50 rebates, bringing it to $299 (with a 2yr contract, new account), bought it about two weeks after launch for ATT
I paid $150 AR during AT&T's black Friday sale on Premier. I almost paid $300 for it second hand, but the guy from craigslist flaked out on me... twice. I'm glad he did though. The $800 price tag you've seen going around was for the HTC Kaiser (TyTN II) which has the front-facing camera.
I bought mine (A genuine TytnII with all on board (except the video driver) ) 27.500 New Taiwan Dollar
Must be some 800 USD indeed.
I paid -100 dollars!
$250 in store with 2 year contract -100 mail in rebate.
I also got another line with a $50 mail in rebate and sold the phone that came with it on eBay for $200. Paid 0 in store for that phone (Samsung a737)
So in total I put $100 in my pocket... my girlfriend kept her unlocked V3 (I know, pretty mean...)
$1140 AUD Outright
I could have gotten it cheaper online but never underestimate the value of a local warranty Plus it came with the full version of Copilot Live 7 and an after-market screen protector.
Wasnt cheap... but worth it. HTC gear is hard to find in Perth.
$600 CAD from Craigslist
mine was free! well, almost. $50 insurance deductable.
800 CAD local
£480.00 each, we bought six of them (!!!)
Mine was free from orange with my upgraded contract
i paid £50 ($100) on a 12 month £20 ($40) a month contract
paid $870.00 AUD delivered, its HK stock though, so the power plug is different. warrenty is via local which is good.
ran it for 1 day as stock, then flashed dutty v4.....very happy.
KC
Bought a TyTN II from 3 Australia for 1049 AUD, so thats like 947 USD. expensive but worth it!
Drooch
Bought mine on Expansys for 660 euros...and i tought it was the cheapest price around!
It's absourd that in an italian store a kaiser costs not less than 800 euros while in the US you can buy it for nothing...
Paid £105 as an upgrade phone from T-Mobile on a 1 year (£35 a month) contract.
It's very interessting to see how much the Kaiser cost in different countrys.
My contract in Germany included a pay-out of 100€.
So I paid for my Kaiser (VPA 1615v; incl. all monthly fees) 280€ or 410$
I didn't pay anything since it's a company phone. But they paid $299.
I bought mine with a two year contract at bestbuy for $325.00 with a plan of 65 or lower....
with a plan of 65 or higher it cost you $299.00.
I gave in an old cellphone so that they can discount $30.00.
$340 off Craig's List, and work will reimburse me $100. Will sell once (if?) T-Mobile USA rolls out their 3G.
So where is the best place to get this phone off contract? I have been free of the Verizon strangle hold for over a year now and will never go back...
BTW... I'm still rocking the Droid Incredible, now running CM7, that I picked up on release day...what an awesome phone!
bvd
If you buy it from Verizon directly, it's $589. If you buy it from Best Buy, or anywhere else, it's going to be $699.
However, if you buy it from Best Buy, you can pay them something like $60 for their buyback program. When you want to buy another phone, just give it to them for a buyback and they will give you credit for half of the retail price towards a new off-contract phone.
So when you want to trade your Bionic in, it'll be $350 off a new phone. This works even if you buy on-contract, they still give you half of the retail price when you trade it in. This only works on phones that have been activated at Best Buy.
Not sure where the best place to get it is, but this is one expensive phone, it almost approaches Iphone retail price. Maybe try grabbing one off a reputable seller on Ebay?
Are you even able to unlock it to use on a service other than Verizon?
I bought mine full retail at Verizon. One BB I talked to wouldn't match Verizon's retail price. One did match an AT&T price on a Captivate, but that was only $30 different, not $110.
I bought it for $589 at BestBuy yesterday. (they price matched the local verizonwireless store). The buyback program which was referred to earlier is a sliding scale (which I don't have in front of me). I do know that it's 50% of the retail price of the phone for the first 6 months (assuming that you don't scratch it). If memory serves me after 2 years its down at 20%.
Also as far as the buyback is concerned it does not make a difference if you bought the phone on or off contract.
I had bought a thunderbolt a few months back for $299, signed up for a 2 year, to lock in the unlimited data. I traded up to the bionic yesterday and got $350 back for my thunderbolt since it retailed at $699 back when I got it.
Wait jstrangfeld, are you saying the buyback program is based on the retail price of the phone REGARDLESS of what you paid for it?

You bet.
I paid $299 for my Thunderbolt in june (with a 2 year contract). It retailed for 699 at the time. Yesterday when I got my bionic I got $350 for my tbolt (less than 6 month = 50% of retail value).
So I had to pay $589 - $350 = $239. Actually I paid a bit more due to taxes getting screen protector and what not but you get the idea.
Interesting...thanks. Makes me tempted to go buy a Bionic right now since I could upgrade it to the rumored Nexus Prime if it really is all that and a box of crackers when it comes out in 2-3 months, lol. I'd still take a bath on the price of it, though; since I'd be buying it for retail price. Bleh.
Most eBay phones are going to be more expensive than Verizon. Honestly right now your best choice is to buy through Verizon. If you wait a few weeks you may be able to pick up some good sellers from eBay or elsewhere.
I just got the s6 edge 128gb pre ordered threw att's web site. I called customer service and told them Verizon is
selling there phone for 899.99 were att is selling it for 1014.99 so a difference of 115 dollars they credited my account
115 dollars and I payed full price so no contract for me. My contract was up last November so i waited for the s6 to come out.
I figured i would go back on a 2 tear plan but there isn't really any savings. The phone is 500 dollars buy they told me my
monthly rate goes up buy 15 dollars a month so take 15 dollars multiply it buy the time 24 months and add 360 dollars to the cost of the
phone. So the cost of the phone now is 860 dollars so for a 30 dollar difference i bought the phone and no contract. The next program
is a joke. But anyway i figured i would pass this info along so others might benefit from the savings. Have a good one

How is next a joke? It'd actually cheaper to get phones through next compared to signing 2 years contracts on the new MS value plans 10gb +. It's simply an installment plan on the full retail price...
How much you paying Next with 10gb data a month? Plus full price on phone. I don't need no 10gb a month.
If you were gonna pay full price for the phone and you're with AT&T should have bought the T-Mobile variant and unlock it... Why? Because the T-Mobile variant would have worked with AT&t LTE and it would have a unlocked bootloader. Taking for previews Samsung phones the T-Mobile variant have most of the bands and unlocked bootloader. If you're Verizon should have wait for the Dev Edition

More or less, companies price everything so that you pretty much have minimal to no savings on the contract. Sometimes, you even lose money, depending on whether or not you can get the device cheaper online or which model you're getting. Paying full price up front, however, is usually not recommended, mainly due to inflation and opportunity cost. That being said, 2 year contracts are usually the worst of the options, especially since they make you pay the tax of the full price of the device. If you're in a state without sales tax, this discrepancy can work in your favor.
