There seems to be a great deal of confusion surrounding Guitar Hero Mobile III and whether or not it worked on VGA devices such as the Diamond or Touch Pro.
Has anyone managed to get it working successfully on either of these devices, as once I install it on my Touch Pro, it just closes as soon as I open the program.
I wondered if anyone had a more clear cut answer if it works or not.
Thanks
http://www.winplay.com/item/GuitarHeroMobile?devicelist
I do not see any VGA WinMo 6.1 devices listed there, unfortuantely.
Not for me
I have Guitar Hero Mobile III on my Tilt (works fine) I got other devices that it works on but.....NO......for me not on VGA devices...
peace
Mike

I am thinking of buying Breeze/MTeor but I wanted to get users opinon on the phone, things that I would like to use:
Pushmail, Naviagation.
Things I wanted to know about was:
1 - Does the phone freeze or hang ?
2 - Is there any problems where you miss alot of phone calls (had this issue on HTC TyTn)
3 - Does it work fast enough, navigating through menu and apps ?
4 - Will I be able to use TomTom ?
5 - If anyone has experience of Pocket PC, what the difference you find with Smartphone version ?
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
first you could read the Wiki (Review's) maybe help you too!!
second:
i had an TyTn before the MTeor!
had also many problems with the tytn ... but most of them in wm5 ... with wm6 most is gone...
i had no phone hang yet on mteor! no calls missed ... i didn't expect any problems so far...
speed is very good! (is the only sp with a 300 mhz cpu) !!!
you are able to use tomtom!
once there is an special smartphone tomtom edition you also can use the pocketpc version! there is a programm called PSHelper with that programm you can act with the d-pad like you have a touchscreen (with a mouse coursor!!)
the differences between the ppc and sp are the missing of a touchscreen!! but as you can see on tomtom with pshelper there is also not a big problem!
some apps did not work on sp ... like the game worms... there are some special smartphone versions of apps out!!
for software just look in wiki!!
also theres a bit difference in the today screen but nothing big.. you did not have such plugins like on the ppc ... just browse the web for sbsh facade or look in to wiki i have attached a screenshot in the skin section ... there you can see the agenda software...
Thanks, I did look through the Wiki and the forum before posting.
I cannot find anything about PSHelper searched google too, do you have a link ?
I sold my TyTn and went for a treo 750v which I really do like, but I want to go to a smaller phone but keep alot of the functions, and the MTeor seems to be the perfect solution.
Which version of TomTom are you running, I have version 6 I use on my treo can I use this with PSHelper ?
Hi,
sorry my fault program calls sphelper
http://www.bobsoft.com/sphelper/
i used it with tomtom5 and 6 theres no difference...
simply explained... the programs that are written for ppc waits for input on screen! but you cant do that on a smartphone...
so the mouse cursor does that for you!!
for me the mteor is the best solution... it is a phone with pocketpc funktionalities!!
i have loved my tytn but the size and weight ....
if you want a slideout keyboard i prever you to wait for s730 ? because s710 has the slide out keyboard but the "slow" omap cpus ....
s730 with keyboard starts looking like my TyTn I think I'd be happy with the MTeor and hopefully with the new versions you mentions, should mean the MTeor resale price should be coming down, works for me.
1 - I haven't had any problems with the phone hanging.
2 - I have huge problems, especially when roaming, that the phone looses the connection to the network - even if the signal strength is good. Others have had a better experience.
3 - I find it fast enough.
4 - Only Tomtom mobile 5 will work. Tomtom navigator 6 is only done for PPC.
5 - I will be going the other way soon, getting a 3600 instead. I've never used a PPC yet.

I did some time ago. Cool maybe, but I find the resulting user interface (TT6+sphelper) almost unusable anyway. Maybe I should have written that TT6 doesn't work very well with MTeoR since TT6 is written for PPC and not smartphones. It can be made to work, barely.
Alright at last I won myself a Mteor on ebay, waiting for delivery hopefully Thursday, can't wait
So tomtom5 runs without the need for sp helper, tomtom6 you need sp helper is that right ?
Does it really make it unusable ?, Is sphelper always running? does it slow down the phone at all ?

yes
TT5 has a smartphone version and pocket version, but TT6 is pocket only. So you need rather additions to run pocket software like TT6

you need run it only when you want to use TT6
So should I just use TomTom Mobile 5 which was made for smartphone? (I take it voices is a problem)
Is there any benefit of using TomTom 6 ?
TT6 has much better maps.
Note: TT 5.200 is the lowest version you need.
I am about to buy a Orange locked HTC TyTN II of ebay I will unlock it and use it on on O2
I hope.
Apart from this driver issue I have been reading about
do you think they are a good pda phone for the money
I use to have a xda mini s uintil I dropped some wieghts on it at the gym and loved that phone as texting was so easy (been using k800i since then and hate texting)
apart as a backup I wont need tomtom on the phone but would not mind listing to music and watching films playing the odd game.
would you say go for this phone or no go for another model
Thanks for any advice
It's a good phone.
Still one of the most popular on here.
I'm very happy with mine and wouldn't change it. (except maybe for a Raphael, if someone would give me one)

You seem like you want an entertainment device more than a pocket pc. There are many other phones out there that are more suited to music, videos and games.
Don't get me wrong, I love my kaiser for my lifestyle. But my wife also loves her iPhone for her music, videos and games

Thats probably the closest you'll get to an impartial answer asking a question on a forum dedicated to the device
I've had mine since they were first released. Whilst I love my phone I'm happy to acknowledge theres issues with them, however any true geek will work around those issues, (and moan about them to other geeks)
My reason for using a windows mobile device is because of the applications. very few phones have anywhere close to the level of applications that WM devices have.
Things you probably want to consider are "Do I want a keyboard?" "Do I need GPS?" "how big are my pockets?"
My partner loved my TYTN2, but always told me she'd never get one, as it was like carrying a brick. The day she saw a Touch Dual she needed to have one.
its smaller, runs as fast, just doesnt have the bonus extras of Wifi and GPS.
The keyboard is more of a standard phone keypad, but it still had the on screen keypad for texting.
its all down to which features you want.
Ok thanks for all the replies I have been and collected it and it looks good and I think I will be happy when I have got rid of the orange rom of it,(thinks thats what you call it)
the shapes not much differant to the xda mini s I use to have
one thing concerns me though he been using a external bluetooth for gps and he said he cant configure the internal gps to work with tomtom could the gps be not be working in the phone or could it be settings

I have TomTom 6 working on my phone off the internal GPS no problems.
If you pay for GPS software that is compatable (check with the vendor) with your device then it must work, or you can just get your money back
Some ROMs are incompatable with some GPS software's but you just avoid those

There are enough of these in the wild here in the US of A, is it possible for you to take a look at someone elses over where you are?
I find that the system gets really slow at times and that is my main complaint. I hate being able to out type this thing.

This has tomtom 6 on it what the settings I need to check to see if i can get it to work by the built in gps or is there a way on the phone to test it.
It came on the phone so why wouldn't it work with the phone?
Not sure but why use an external bluetooth Gps unit with it
I guess to save the phones power. All gps programs that I know of can use the internal gps.

I am in the States - I travel all over the USA and use my TOMTOM Navigator 6 all the time - it DOES require that I have it plugged in as the battery life is only about an hour or two with the GPS turned on.
BUT - while the VERY first lock on GPS takes a while there are tricks that make it lock faster and the ROM is a big part of this. The ROM in my signature locks in about 30 seconds.
HTH
Bill
I stopped using tomtom because the screen stayed on all the time, and that will burn down some power too. I use google maps, and I just don't see how people use windows live, I don't even see anything about maps.
XDA Mini S to Kaiser
This was the very same route that I went down so I can probably share some experiences.
My XDA Mini was from O2 but when my contract came up last October, they only had the 'Orbit' so I went over to Orange. I still don't think O2 have the Kaiser in it's true HTC Tytn II form, so you are going down the prefered route if you want to stay with O2.
The XDA Mini was great but very slow on download because it didn't have the advantage of 3G / HSDPA.
The XDA Mini keyboard is very similar in layout to the Kaiser but the Kaiser 'feels' better engineered, the slide is smoother and not as loose, and the tilt screen is useful when using it on a table for typing.
The XDA Mini uses Mini-SD as opposed to Micro-SD, so I had a few memory cards left over (I'm using them on a digital camera, so not wasted).
I used Tomtom on the XDA-Mini with bluetooth but if you didn't get a lock, you were not sure if it was a BT issue or a GPS issue, also I had to reset both a couple of times as the 'pointer' was running parallel to the roads about 200 yrds away and kept trying to re-route. Also, TT needed tweaking for the correct COMs port.
The Kaiser has never been a problem and the GPS lock is quicker, with TT and iGO .. and I've not had to go looking in the footwell of the car when the GPS unit slid off the dash whilst doing an unexpected tight turn !
Also, if I wanted to use the navigational system while walking I had to juggle the GPS receiver as well as holding the phone, which is a big plus.
Apart from unlocking the XDA Mini via this forum, I didn't bother messing with the ROM's, but the Kaiser seems to have so many more opportunies to expand and getting rid of the Orange 'bloat ware' was a benefit.
In summary, the XDA Mini was a fabulous, plastic feeling, lightweight PDA and Phone. The Kaiser is a well engineered, phone with a miniature laptop built in.
If you enjoyed the XDA Mini, the Kaiser will blow your socks off ... when you've got rid of the Orange stuff and added a few cabs
Hi ,
Has anybody had any trouble or know of any issues when installing Copilot 6 on Wm 6.1 ( in the HTC touch Pro, which T-mobile calls the MDA Vario IV)?
B
alright mate.
i have this with no probs
in fact i love how clear it looks
Thanks for that. I spoke to ALK themselves and they said it could mess up the device. Hence the question.. I shall try today..Cheers
As Mahender says. I do think there is some lag from the GPS (so warnings/alerts are slightly late) but I haven't really done a good test.
VGA display does look good and clear.
alright guys.
i dont use mine with gps as i have the seperate bluetooth thing.
i got this bundle with my old vario2 ( top phone).
i hvanet tried copilot with the phones gps.
so when in the car i use the seperate bluetooth to not slow down the phone.
having said that i do also have google witht he gps on the phone and tbh i think it works pretty cool. i dont reallly see any lag. ( not sure what delay constitutes lag) it does get my position with in 10 metres.
so for car i use copilot and if ever not in car i would use google maps.
mahender.
Hello there,
I wonder if you can help me, I have up until now been the user of a HP 614c (running windows mobile 6.5 - used various builds) but recently I have upgraded and got myself a HTC touch pro/ Raphael which I straight away updated to the energy ROM 3.0 (windows 6.5) from the ROM development section, however, for some reason I am finding alot of the games for windows CE that I had working on my HP 614c are not working on the HTC touch pro ..
I find that on starting the game the screen goes blank and sometimes you can hear the music and nothing else?
Is this an issue with compatibilty with the phone, or the rom, is it because of the g sensor? I have no idea ... some of the games work perfectly well but a vast majority of them just blank out which is a shame .
I have looked at all settings and been tinkering for ages and still come to no conclusion, I find it strange as the HTC touch pro has the equivalent specs to the HP 614c but with extra capability ? and the windows 6.5 software I have installed have stemmed from the same pre release builds ??
Any one have any ideas?
Wouldnt normally bother me so much,
but my much loved 'arcade games for adults' didnt run which was the last straw
I am not sure if I can live with out b00by breakout etc hehehe
You can try it...
you are the man! they all work fine now
just out of interest what does that cab file do exactly? wat does it change to enable this to now work ?
I have noticed that there is a clash with the HTC touch flo 3d software tho, but if u take that off the today menu it runs perfectly ... which it didnt do before installign the fix

hi to everyone on this excellent wesite' im glad i joined'
two problems realy'
ive just purchased a brand new in the box XDA LL. HIMALAYA on o2 its never been registered and never been on line' they wanted £25/ 40 pound to unlock this from o2 so i could use this on orange, but they could not promise it would succeed, so i came home and googled this and found this excellent forum and unlocked it my self even though im using windows 7, a great big thanks to all members that contributed to the unlock thread.
now i would like to update my operating system from windows 2003 to a much more pleasent and nicer one, perhapes windows mobile 6.55 or later so i can use the internet and put some up to date ringtones mp3 ect' i have a sd card 1gb and also a sd wireless card but this is all new to me about this phone.
im running windows 7 and have a cradle with a good usb and windows device centre 6,1.
i just need a bit of help from you excellent forum members'
to upgrade my OP system
conect my wireless card
i know this is not the latest phone out, but i like the look the big screen and its new.
so sorry for being a bit long on the thread but there is no short way to do this.

I also have a new/old 'nether been used' Himalaya, all boxed up and wrapped up nicely, but on Orange....Yucky! M1000 they called it. i Payed £38 for it on the market, locked to Orange and i have not yet unlocked it. i plan to tho.
I like it, it is a nice phone full stop, nether mind for its age... i also have a HTC Jade and i much prefer the Himalaya, big screen, more solid and more tactile.
The only problem with it is its tiny ROM size. but it can and will run WM 6.5.
Anyway. i had a problem in that it would not upgrade through windows 7, because the active sync on the Himalaya's driver CD is old and not compatible with WIN 7.
I got around that by manually installing the needed USB driver into windows Device Centre 6.1.
You have to do that by going to- Device Center - Portable Devices - HTC Himalaya 'or what ever its called on you PC' Hit the Update Drivers Tab - Let me pick...from computer - Have Disk - Browse, and use the file i attached. (after unzipping it)
To install a new OS on the phone you need to be in boot loader mode.
Press and hold, power + the two buttons on the let side 'camera/record' and the navigation button at the bottom between the call and hang up buttons, and then use the stylus in the little hole on the left bottom, hold all that together for a couple of seconds. then, on an unlit screen you should see 'serial'. Place it in the cradle, then that will change to USB. Your ready to upgrade
This would be easier if you had 4 hands but it is possible with just the two, and gets easier with two after its been done a few times....
Now i'm not by a long way an expert here, so i could be wrong, and if i am i'm sure an expert will come along and correct me but all that works for me.
As for a WM 6.5, this one seems to work on mine http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741800
This one is very nice http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745718 tho the home screen does not up date for me.
And before you do anything you might have to read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332215
I don't know is its needed. i have done it tho you should know
As for conecting the Wirless Card.. i don't know as i don't have one. but i think it goes in the SD slot at the top. someone, i'm sure will tell you how to instal it
many thanks for the info
hi les'
thanks for the reply' as like you im a big screen man' this came about when my wife bought me a mobile from hong kong' with a 3.5 screen also it had a zoom lens that you could add on if you wanted to take a picture far away.
had that for about a year and half then the software chip messed up' and i lost all my emails and such.
cant get on with small phones' you get a much better quality camera but im not bothered about that' because i have a digital cam anyway.
if i can help in any way in unlocking you mobile for you les just pm me and ill do my very best.
thank you again mate
