Hello,
My touch screen was dead, so i sent my phone to HTC french warehouse...
I received it back yesterday, but now to got wifi ntwork, i ve to be at less than 1 metter from the access point.
I think that people who repaired my phone forget to plug something like the antenna cable ???
Does anybody know how is in the phone ?
Is there somewhere on the web, a page that explain us, how to open diamond without breack it ?
THank you
Emmanuel
2 months ago I disassembled my diamond trying to reach the digitizer / touch panel (eventually I failed to replace it) and when I assembled it back I too lost the wifi signal and I had to be very close to the access point. I re opened it it I found that the wifi antenna was unplugged so I plug it again and wifi is fixed.
Check the service manual here http://www.mediafire.com/?jnh4f2ndyzz

Hello Guys,
today I got my Herald back form o2-Germany it was under repair for 2 months and a half.
First I thought everything works great but when I tried to start WiFi (wireless LAN) it switched off after about a second or two.
I tried 10 times but every time the same..
I did a hardreset twice but nothing happend.. automatically switch-off after a second!
Does anybody know what to do?
If it doesn't work I'm allowed to give it back to the shop and take the money or another mobile.
The only other smartphone I would buy now is the Orbit2 (HTC touch cruise) but i want a hardware keyboard.. but there is none but the Terra (Herald) in germany!
Is the Cruise as good as it is described?
Thanks a lot for your help and sorry for my bad english ;-)
just flash a custom rom
There is no official German o2-ROM to unbrick or reflash for repair.
Thats the big Problem the give it only for a few devices out.
My wing was doing that also. It would only turn off it was connected to the pc though. After I unplugged it wlan stayed on.
After my diamond fell in the stairs ....
the other problem is the WiFi doesn't turn on ... i cannot make it work .. in comm manager when i turn it on it just don't turn on ... stay off ..
I have made hard reset but no luck ..
Anyone got an idea ??
Thanks

You're funny: your thread title says your Diamond is broken.
Then, you tell us how it fell down the stairs and you can't make WiFi work.
What do you think we can do for you?
Your Diamond apparently needs repair, you can't repair hardware with software, so your post is pretty much pointless, sorry to say that.
Or maybe try throwing it upstairs, it might do the trick..... But do it with wifi disconnected!
(It's how I try these days to recalibrate the gsensor...)

ROFL!!
thanks for the funny answer guys ...
The question is maybe someone as already disassemble it and the wifi part could be disconnected by the shock ...
Or by software .. make a sort of hardware diagnostic ..
I live in a bungalow for just that reason. However you could take a look at the Diamond service manual which is available to download from the wiki.
Update :
My wifi is reworking but with very very low signal .. i have to be very close from my routeur ...
And ...
i have the same issue with bluethoot .. i have tried tomt tom with an external sirfIII bluethot adapter and i have to put my phone at 5 cm from the dapter to get connection !!!

Try looking in here:

This may have some answers for you. Hope this helps.
If I remember correctly, the Bluetooth/Wifi antenna is a combined one. If both fail, I guess it's just disconnected or the connection is severed.
Hi
I got a diamond which i have been using for a while.. recently it stopped charging after a short while when im connected with usb using internet sharing.. and therefor it quickly runs out of battery ..it is behaving normally when charging from wall charger and also if i dont share the internet connection with the laptop it will behave normal and charge as supposed .
i did hardreset no solution..did check the most obius reasons ! no solution...suspected virus but my system says nothing infected..suspected wmdc to be playing me around deleted that ! no solution ..googled last 2 days only thing i get is some heat related issues but im not convinced thats the case hence it worked fine b4 and temperatures is about same all year here "indonesia", however must admit the device gets hot but nothing new in that it allways did get hot.. next in line is to change the battery but it aint that old about 5 months i use it heavyli though if im not internet sharing im in the car using it as navigator so its basicly charging from dusk till dawn.. im also getting the fell of formatting my laptop maybe the issue could be in vista somewhere
I talked to a friend which has same problem with a htc touch ..even though connected via usb it drains the battery untill device shut down..
Anyone have a solution ?
Htc Diamond
Rom 1.93.403.2 danish

olinex

could be similar
internet sharing and charging..... the fix

does your handset stop charging then restarts after a little while using internet sharing, if so read below
a few things to check is to try internet connection on another laptop(sometimes if you have many loads on usb it can cause a problem , i have experience this twice with a compaq n400) at the location where it is happening,if the fault is present then you have identified the fault is with the handset or network.
your next step is to try internet sharing at a different location from where you are experiencing the fault and see if the fault reoccurs, for me it wasn't until i decided to try internet sharing in another area that i discovered that the fault was network related, even though my network provider were adamant it wasn't (this fault is also related to cases where the handset gets very hot within a short space of time whilst using hspda/gprs).
if the above test is carrried out and you identify that it's location based then speak to your network provider (but be persistant)
today my handset can sit idle or be surfing for xyz and it is barely warm....
hopes it help
Oooh, I experienced a similar problem like this on one of my previous HTC device. It went away on its own--or maybe it was because I started using Bluetooth instead of USB for internet sharing.

Do you use internetsharing by Bleutooth with your Diamond? I can't get it running, is there any workaround to get this running?
Thanks in advanced
Willem
provider i do not think it is course i got simcards from different companies both act same way ..
ill try find another laptop see it problem stays the same..
im not a shark in this but my guess is bluetooth uses more battery than usb connection and since my problem is that im running out of power cause the usb connection just stops charging im not sure the bluetooth will help me in this case ..
Prolly something toasted inside the phone unless it isnt vista making a fool of me
Hey there, looking for broken tilts, if you have one and want to get rid of it please contact me!
I got one.. The ribbon cable that connects the screen part to the keyboard is on its last leg..... I am not confidant in my abilities to install a new one... Cossmetically the phone is a 9 our of 10 (VERY good condition). Within a week, first he phone would imtermitionly read sims, now it reads none, then then the screen started to flicker and it lost the ability to read the SD card (it sees it but gets errors now).. Wifi, BT and GPS are still fine... Make me an offer.. I am located in Milwaukee WI USA
I got one too, check PMs.
I bought a new housing for my Tilt the other week and attempted to perform the surgery myself. Unfortunately the new housing didn't have any of the antennas/buttons/etc. so I had to take all the ones from my old one and put it on the new one. The golden strip at the bottom was apparently the wi-fi/blue tooth one. Had I been aware of this before I would've been a bit more careful. Anyway, after switching it to the other phone, I no longer get a wifi signal. At all. What can I do?
I had the same problem after I replaced a damaged lcd screen. I could only connect via wifi if the phone was a couple of feet max from the router.
I have since bought an iphone and haven't looked back since. I turned on the Kaiser recently after using the iphone for a few days and couldn't beleive how slow and laggy it was. Get an iphone, they're awesome!!!!
To give an better answer. The best thing is to buy a new antenna. But I have a new more ideas. Press on the connector of the antenna. Maybe it just isn't atached right. (That was what happend to me one time). Or take an old WLAn Router (If you have one). Open it and take the WLAn antenna out of it. Connect it to your Kaiser board and try to connect again. If it works build in the antenna. Or check if the settings are setted to save energy. Maybe to power isn't enought then.
