FUZE File Explorer missing from the start menu - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

Hey all,
got my fuze last week, pretty excited. I was trying to find the pre-installed you tube s/w, I read from a post that it should be available in the file explorer. I do not see that in the start menu. Maybe this is too very primitive, but just getting used to a WinMo
Thanks in advance for the help,
Yegappan

Hi yegappan,
From the "Start" menu go to "Settings". Go to "Menus" in the tab "Personal" (which is default when you click "Settings" from "Start"). Scroll down and you will be able to see "File Explorer". Check the box and you should be all set.
P.S. The start menu may not allow you to have more than x number of menus so you may want to uncheck some other menus to add "File Explorer".
Hope this helps.
Thanks

pkshr, that is not correct.
To locate file explorer: Tap "start", "programs", "tools".
You will then see the file explorer icon.
From there, once selected, it should show up on your start menu as a recent program, if I'm not mistaken.

Hi Short fuze,
Sorry I dont know about yours but in my att fuze it is Start>Settings>Menu (Personal Tab) where you have to check the "file explorer" checkbox. This will add "File Explorer" in the "Start" menu.
Thanks

you are correct sir

Thanks guys, i found it under the tools...

Settings>Menus -- where is it getting list of programs?

Can anyone tell a newbie where the Menu list is coming from under Settings>Menus (personal)?
I would like to add the 10 button com manager (back) to the launcher, but it does not show up in the list of available programs. Is this a matter of dropping a shortcut into a specific folder or a registry edit? I know the program is there as I can go into the Connections tab and it is listed as "Wireless Manager".
This is on a tilt running HTC Home 2.0 with the original rom.
Thanks greatly for any help.

Programs....
This is from a folder in your windows directory. You can put a shortcut there.
File Name and Folder
Do you know the name of the file that needs the shortcut created and what folders under windows it should be dropped into?
Thanks,
Bobby
Found it
FYI, if anyone else starts hunting this stuff.
The shortcut was already in the Windows folder. A copy of that shortcut needs to be dropped in the "Start Menu" > "Programs" folder. It will then be available in the Launcher application to add.
This should also work for any other application you would like to add to the Launcher.
Thanks,
Bobby

shortcuts

I would like to add my "favorites" to the today screen. I've added the kaiser tweaks and the HTC homepage plugin. No where does it allow me to put my favorites on a tab or on the menu. Does anyone have a way to do this? It would make jumping online for something so much quicker. Thanks
If you're using HTC Home, you can add shortcuts to the "launcher" tab.
Go start>settings>today then at the bottom tab shift to "HTC Home" and make sure "launcher" is checked to display.
Then from your Today screen, tap over to the "launcher" icon. You'll see two rows of little squares now (the top row is filled in). You can tap a black square and it will allow you to select which application launches from that sqaure. The little "x" allows you to unlock the squares to remove them.
If you want to add an application or shortcut not on the availabe list, sync to your PC and go into your device.....create a shortcut in the windows>start menu folder.
Hope that helps...if that's what you were looking for.
* this may of course all vary depending on which version of HTC Home you have loaded
Sounded brilliant but it didn't work. I'm working on XP and it wouldn't allow me to make a shortcut on the mobile phone (tilt). So I just copied my favorites folder into the program files folder, start menu folder, and anywhere else I thought it might show up. I got it onto the start screen, but there was nothing in it. Any other suggenstions?

It will work with XP, you may need to open two windows to do it.
From your PC (my computer) open a window for the device....surf down to Windows>Start menu.
Now go back to "my computer" again and open a second device window. Surf down to whatever directory you are looking for...then drop/drag the exe into the open start menu window.....select "create shortcut" and your done

Not sure I follow. It may not appear until you restart the device.
You'll get it, though. Keep tinkering.

If I understand you correctly, I think what you want is to be able to open your Internet Explorer Favorites quickly and easily on your Kaiser. If that's the case, what you need to do is check the "Favorites" box in ActiveSync - that will port all your favorites to your mobile device - then when you open Pocket Internet Explorer (PIE), all your favorites are available from there.

how to use total commander

I have total commander on my phone and i would like to try some reg tweaks to allow things like ringtones from my memory card, etc. but i dont know exactly how to go about doing it. are there any tutorials i can read, or can someone give me some pointers, i am really lost.
Ps. i have already searched the forum, and i found nothing.
pta
using total commander to change reg is a pain. type \\ at the top and hit enter, you will enter the registry. hope it helps. took me sometime to figure it out.
hope this is helpful
to edit the registry using total commander first open the application and then hit the "\" key on the top right which will then take you to the "main page" of total commander, you will then see a folder list the first of which will read "\\Plugins" double click that or press and hold and select "open" after opening another folder list will appear with 3 folders named "ftp, LAN and registry" then either double click or press and hold and select open on the folder named "registry" and from there on its similar to most other registry editing programs with the 3 folders " HKCR, HKCU and HKLM"
i never really had a problem with accessing the registry. easiest is to just go to the root of your phone...when you open up total commander, go to the first file, and hit left on the direction...it'll move up to the parent directory...keep doing so, til you can't go any further...and you'll see a folder "\\"...click in to that and then the registry folder and you'll get the HKCR, HKCU, and HKLM folders to manipulate the registry.

as a bonus tip;
create a hotlist entry for quick future access
once in the registry select the show menu and then Directory hotlist
and you'll see Add current dir
hope it helps
I have a question about use of total commander. I have installed a program which allows multiple clipboard entries which starts with soft reset via a startup folder shortcut and needs to be "hidden" manually ...is there a command line parameter to add to the startup command to have it "hide" or "minimize" when it starts ?

turn off "message sent" notifiaction

hi there,
is it possible to turn off this annoying notification? Instead of clicking dismiss each time?
and the other question, can you suggest the best way to edit the registry of the device?thx
ps.i just bought tilt for myself, previously i used an 8125
There's a sticky thread with KaiserTweak. Download it, it has MANY tweaks like the one you're talking about. It will fix a lot of annoyances.
yes, it's possible.
use kaiser tweaks or schaps advanced config programs.
1. using a Registry Editor (I use Resco File Explorer), navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox
2. Next, click on Inbox (make sure the Inbox is highlighted) and select Edit, New Key
3. Name the New Key as "Settings"
4. Click on "Settings" (make sure the Settings is highlighted) and select Edit, New String Value
5. On "Value name:", key in SMSNoSentMsg and in "Value data", key in 1
6. Soft reset your device and test it with one SMS
Cheers
Rowan

For what it's worth, my AT&T Tilt already had that string value in it, and I changed the value data from 0 to 1 and it works great. Thanks!

AT&T Tab Editor (Add Unlimited shortcuts)

If you have the "HTC FUZE" with the at&t tab in the manila you may be able to use this to edit the AT&T tab into a useful tab. I made mine a games tab. before you make any changes go to the options menu and backup first. This saves the file that will be edited. If you have a problem restore them using total commander. You can find them in "\Storage Card\ Program Files\AttTabEdit\" If you change the title of the page you will need to reload manila. I havn't created a help for it but If there is a need I'll write one. but quickly, here is a rundown:
delete and rename work on the currently selected item in the main page.
new opens a new window allowing you to select an exe or shortcut. you can also add links to web pages.
SoftKeys loads a window to allow you to select an item for your shortcut keys
the "Edit" item at the top of the softkey list is a link to this program.
PageTitle allows you to change the title of the AT&T Tab page.
If you have problems I'll try to fix them. If you can post details.
Update: Fixed an error in the Backup when overwriting an existin backup.
Update: Changes in the UI. added error handlers.
Fixed an error with read only files.
