TF3D Contact Pictures - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I don't use photos for my TF3D contacts, I just want to use ones like the standard grey Manilla ones.
But I notice if I don't choose a photo for a contact its sets the default to a "male" photo. I would like to find the "female" picture for this.
Is there anywhere I can find this?
I tried using these and cutting them individually but they appear blurry and not sharp when I view them in the contacts tab

The trick is...
..to find them in the album and then use the 'Set as contact' and it will give you a much higher res looking version. It seems to compress the images when setting the image for a contact in some cases.

Thanks, I tried that too, but it still doesnt look as clear as it should for some reason

contact pictures look like S....t

Hi, I was wondering.
On all the diamond ads and demos, you see contact pictures looking sharp, colourfull and nice in he contact shortcut on TF3D.
When I set my contacts in the shortcut, they look like ****, all blury and like underscalled.
When I look at the used pictures threw the album, they look sharp.
Does anyone know haow to have nice pictures in the contact shortcut?
Thanks

I've noticed the same. I've also noticed that if you take a picture with your Diamond to use as a contact picture it will be sharp and if you take a high resolution picture of someone and crop it without too much scaling it will also be sharp. I think what we need to know is the optimum dimensions for the contact pics as well as the optimum resolution. I'm sure you'll find it somewhere on the forum if you search.
OK thanks,
I think I'll take a picture with the diamond and open it in photoshop, thenre I will have the good ration.
Thanks
I have seen the solution here somewhere before. It has to do with the file compression that the phone does when you select an image as a contact picture. There is a workaround.
to add a pic for contact go to the htc album select the contact pic from the album and add it to a contact with the menu
If you add contact pictures using Outlook on your PC, or Contacts on WM, then it doesn't save them at very high quality.
If you do it using TF3D, then the images are saved at a higher quality, and stay that way, even when they're syncronised to and from an exchange server or through ActiveSync
I had similar issue. Then, I've used S2V (http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=2432) to set images to contacts and they appear very clear now in the TouchFlo3D. I do not really know why, but if you have time to check please let me know the results

I'll give it a try, thanks
What you need is go to PEOPLE in TFL3D, and flip to the picture you want to replace, and then click MENU | CHANGE PICTURE. Select any High Res pic you want!
In my previous phones I have been using photoshop to tune my pictures for contacts. I would love to know the resolution for the people/contact images aswell.

Contact images are low resolution

My contact images looked OK on my Trinity, and are quite large medium quality jpegs, and yet on the Diamond flip pages, the images are a horrible blocky blurred mess
How do I get the images to be nice and clear?
That happend to me too...
I think it depends on how you assign the image to the contact, seems to be a bug (or WM feature? ).
When you add the image via the WM Contacts it gets blurry. But when you use the Touchflo Interface they are sharp as they should be!
Good to know, Thanks.
This should be sticky! thanks

Prevent Picture Dithering in TF3D

Hi Everybody,
is there a way to prevent picture dithering in TF3D on the Diamond2?
I have very nice looking background pictures, but TF3D dithers them very strong, so they look terrible.
I know, that WM 6.1 only supports 65k colors, but the same pictures look very good, when I look at them with a picture viewer on the Diamond2, but not so in TF3D as a background image.
Does anybody know how to turn this behavior off or how to prepare the images right, so that they look as great as with a dedicated picture viewer?
Similar problem with the contacts pictures. What started out as a nice sharp image ends up as a blurred mess when TF3D's finished with it. Any hints on improving this would be welcome.
Contact Pictures:
Don't start within the contact. Start with the picture album, use there the menu to add to the contact. Works better. And sharp.

Have you taken you contact pics using your TD2 camera in contact picture mode? mine come out perfectly!
Thanks, guys, I'll try both. I don't tend to use "contact pic" mode with the camera, 'cos I don't know in advance it's going to be a contact picture, if you see what i mean!
You have to choose the picture from the contacts. Add a favorite contact, and from there add a picture. This results in a very sharp image.
Adding an image through Outlook and syncing it results in a blurry image. Have no idea why. This device has plenty of bugs.

Today screen background

Hey, can anyone tell me how to use a picture as the background for the Windows Mobile Today panel WITHOUT having the picture washed out. I would like to use a full color image, not have it lightened up.
I too am in the same boat.
I got a custom ROM, and when I asked about the background, ppl here said to use the "picture viewer" to select a picture, and then adjust the settings.
problem is, my rom has the program HTC album, instead of the original viewer, so I can't do it...
Having different viewer can screw this.
Anyway when you go to default viewer, just open image
and choose it for WM background.
There you have also trnsparency sett.
Download another viewer, like Resco Photo Viewer Pro.
or you download the themecreator from the sonyericsson site for free
and you can make not only the picture but also the startmenu and all the other stuff.

the ROM I'm using doesn't seem to have the default viewer installed... And it's a highly customized ROM that someone sent me, country specific... so I cant use any other one...

Can we seriously still not rotate and crop?

The Kaiser was able to crop photos and rotate them around, and I cant for the life of me stand to believe that this phone isnt capable without spb mobile shell. It wouldnt be so bad if the camera didnt store the photos upside down and sideways , no matter which way you hold the phone.
I have G sensor disabled for camera in G-config and can hold camera straight up and down and the pic store upside down one shot, and right side up the next. same problem if held horizontally. and take a pic. its becoming quite aggrivating lol. If I have missed something somewhere please flame me in the right dir .Thanks
I was a bit disappointed I couldn't find a decent app for this. As far as I know, cropping is limited to looking at a picture in Album, zooming to whaty you want then hitting menu and save screen, which will save what you see on your screen. Haven't seen any rotation or anything of the like anywhere. Perhaps whatever app you used before could be found or packaged as a cab and someone could provide that?

you can rotate and crop with the regular pictures and videos app
The tool you want to use for editing your photos is \Windows\pimg.exe (even most "cooks" don't remove this...I think it's the system's image rendering tool).
if you're like me and you really hate the reduced functionality of the Album app, just edit the file associations with Schap's Advanced Config, so they all open pimg instead of album.
