backlight problem will not shut off even in sleep mode - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I've got a problem that just started today. Basically my backlight no longer shuts off even when the phone goes into sleep mode. Also if I go into the power settings and turn off the light sensor (so I can adjust it manually) it doesn't change. At the time I hadn't been messing with new roms for weeks. I've tried the HTC factory rom, Dutty's 3.4 and a couple others (hardressetting each time) different SPL's and Radio roms too.. Anyone else run across a similar problem before? Also when charging the white light around the circular button does not blink anymore.

Ive got this problem - dont know why its happening, started yesterday.
Also tried many hard resets and changing roms, gone back to dutty's V4 again.
Not sure if this is a hardware issue - might have to claim insurance, but i really cant be arsed with the hassle, re-doing hard spl, re-unlocking it, putting new rom on again

2nd ROM ... same problem with sleep button

Was using Dutty's latest Kaiser ROM, had a problem with it after installation: when pushing the power button on the side to sleep the phone the light would turn off for about 2 seconds, then the phone would wake back up. The only way it would turn off the screen and sleep is via normal inactivity time period.
Just installed new Ruppy ROM, (spl 3.56 and neon 1.58.25.17 radio) to see if the problem would replicate, and it still does.
Anyone had this problem with their phone?
I've had this problem for months. I've flashed a dozen different ROM's had both 3.29 and 3.56 Hard SPL (jocky) and nothing fixes it. The problem was originally posted in ROM development but one of the senior MODs moved it but I think those guys who know the programming inside and out would be the best to help us fix this.........
THe only thing I've been able to do is load S2U2 to keep it from dialing or activating programs when it turns itself back on.

Is my Diamond dead?

Hey everybody,
I was going out yesterday and I was in a bar when I tried turning on the screen of my Diamond, but nothing happened. I wasn't able to turn on the screen at all. So I pushed the soft-reset button, but again nothing seemed to happen. I didn't think too much of it, but this morning it still doesn't do antyhing. I managed to find out the following: it does seem to respond to volume keys being pressed; because I can hear the sounds and it will vibrate when I hold it down. The light thing seems dead, because it doesn't light up when I'm charging it. Also, I'm still able to set up ActiveSync connection and even flash different ROMS.
Any hints on what to do here? My device doesn't have ensurance or anything, and it was hard-SPL'd + SIM unlocked, so will guarantee cover this? (Device is not older than 6 months)
Kind regards,
ToxicWasted
Seems like a hardware problem, so you have to send it on guarantee but be sure to flash stock ROM and SPL back. If you need to use the screen of your phone try a program called My Mobiler.

Strange (and a little worriesome) behavior on my G1

Tonight my G1 displayed some very odd behavior. It was running normally and I pressed the power button to make it sleep and I set it aside. About half an hour later I picked it up and tried to turn it on by pressing menu. The phone gave no response other than lighting up the five buttons on the bottom. I tried sliding the keyboard out and the keyboard lit up as well, but the display remained black. Plugging it in via USB to my computer did absolutely nothing (no sounds, no notification light, etc.), and I got the same result when I plugged it into the charger. I finally decided to take the battery out in order to turn the phone off, and then put it back in and pressed the power button. The phone booted up normally, and now everything seems to be working in proper order. I am slightly concerned, however, as I have never had this behavior in the year that I have owned my G1. I am running Cyanogen 4.1.999 with the Hard SPL boot loader. I am unsure whether this behavior has anything to do with the mod and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar. I do realize that if my phone is bricked it is my fault, and I want to determine if this was simply a freak accident or if I need to do something differently with the phone.
first of all if your phone was bricked you wouldn't be able to use it. as for your problem it doesnt sound too serious so if i were you i wouldn't worry about it. but if it does happen again reflash your phone and if it happens after that, pitch it to cyanogen to see if there is a problem with the rom.
I do realize that it isn't bricked now, but I am worried that this behavior could mean that I am pushing the phone too hard. I am mostly curious as to whether or not anyone else has experienced similar behavior from their G1.
Turn off compatibility mode in spare parts.
don't worry this is a common problen It happens to me all the time any hero I flash plays nice for about a day. and then boom no problems with cyan!
I had the same problem, but unfortunately my G1 is still not working properly.
In the morning, turning off the alarm I left the phone for 5 minutes. An attempt to turn it on did not work: there was no reaction on display, although the buttons were lighting up. I restarted phone taking the battery out and now I have following:
- keyboard fully closed: no reaction/black display, buttons are lighted up
- keyboard open: I can do everything: change ROM/make call/write messages/Internet/GPS/... - everything what is possible to do with rooted G1
- keyboard partially open (visible only lowest row with such buttons as ALT, SHIFT, SPACE): similar to 'open' but with changed orientation
Can anyone help/advise? Did almost everything: ROM changed, full wipe, recovery

diamond - semi random wake up from standby

Hi all, i've had this problem for a long time... hope somebody can shed me some light to solve it. I've been living with it for months but now it's starting to annoy me as it increase the battery drain significately
Basically my diamond wakes up from standby semi randomly, in order of frequency: by sliding off the back cover, shaking the phone, touching the screen or more rarely by pressing hw buttons.
This behaviour seems to appear after the phone is on for a few hours. More rarely just after a soft reset.
Sometimes it happens just once, other times it keeps waking up just after pressing the power button to put it to sleep... mistery!
I've tried kill any process except the system ones and remove anything extra from windows startup, including repllog.exe, biotouch.exe.. but i haven't been able to identify the source of the problem.
I'm running Shaks v4.30 ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462455
with radio 1.13.25.24 and matching rilphone.
If i can't find a solution i'll try to install a different rom, but i'd rather avoid this as this works fine and it would take a lot of time to reinstall all programs and tweaks...
Any hint would be highly appreciated
up..
I've tried formatting with mtty, installing different wm6.1 and wm6.5 rom and an HTC stock rom, but the problem persists... it keeps waking up from standby.
I'm starting to think it's an hardware issue... Any suggestion on how i could log the reason it keeps waking up?
Please, any help would be very appreciated

[Q] Capacitive butoons backlights issue

Hello Everybody,
I've got a strange issue with my One: I purchased it to a friend 2 months ago, and from the beginning I saw that the capacitive buttons backlight was not working (it was ok for me, saw it with my friend before purchasing, and didn't want to send it in warranty for that).
I tested it also with HTCs test menu (*#*#3424#*#* in the phone interface) and they still didn't illuminate. But since last week-end, sometimes the buttons light up. When it's the case, their backlight works correctly, the brightness is automatically adjusted with ambient light level. But the buttons still don't light-up 90% of the time.
Does someone has an idea on what's going on?
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Best Regards
Ludobal
More information needed
Is it a stock Rom?
Unlocked Bootlaoder?
Custom Kernal?
Have you tried a factory data reset?
Hi, and sorry, I should have specified all of that before.
I'm on stock ROM, rooted, and TWRP installed.
I already did several factory resets (didn't have the choice, I had some crashes after installing updates or after restarting the phone), without any change.
Thanks a lot for your help.

I am having the same problem as you. In the dark, when the buttons are supposed to light up, they sometimes do and sometimes don't. I've done a reset with no change.
I'm wondering if I need to send my phone in for repair. It's a stock 64GB Developer Edition on 4.1, with the exception of S-OFF.
Hello,
It's not specially a good news, but I'm glad I'm not alone with this issue... I didn't want to send the phone to repair only for this backlighting issue, but now I saw it work, I really wonder if I can find a solution somewhere.
Regarding the problem itself, just a precision: when the backlight works, if I use the phone for a few minutes (2 or 3), the buttons lights systematically turns off. It comes back (or not) after a short standby period.

When my lights work, they work properly, staying on when needed and turning off when they are supposed to.
Also, when you turn the phone on with the charging cable plugged in, the button lights blink as the phone is coming on. When the lights stop working, the button lights do not blink, so it could actually be a hardware issue.
