Financial/Banking software? - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

I have been very happy (well at least not terribly disappointed) with MS Money 2006 and Money PPC 2006 on my Tilt, but it's time for a change. I just bought a Fuze; it should be here tomorrow, and I need to install something to keep track of my checking account register. It also needs to sync with some sort of desktop software, so I don't have to start from scratch each time I flash a new ROM. Does anyone have any suggestions?
By the way, I searched for financial and then banking; I didn't see anything. I apologize if I'm forgetting something; I've been awake for a very long time, so it wouldn't surprise me.

A few I've tried are SPB Finance and CashOrganizer. Both are VERY similiar and sync to your desktop Quicken or Money programs. And both cost money. I've tried several free finance programs but I couldn't find one with the capabilities that SPB or Cash Organizer had. SO...that being said, I ended up purchasing Cash Organizer.

HTH!

I use Quicken at home and pocket quicken on the road http://www.landware.com/pocketquicken/

You can also try Bankarama. Works pretty good and easily enter data without all the complications of 500 different hoops

Cash Organizer 2008
I use Cash Organizer 2008. It has a great planner, budget tools, you can export to Excel both your register as well as your budget etc. It will sync to Money and Qucken but after having gotten comfortable with using it on my PDA I decided that I did not need to use Money any longer. Daily (or almost daily) I download my bank statement from the web on my device and quickly update my registry in Cash Organizer. I keep backup copies to protect myself against the loss of my PDA and now rely solely on my PDA for all my finance needs. I have tried Splash Money and Spb Finance but do not like them as well.

Thanks for the responses; I ended up getting SPB Finance, and so far I'm really impressed!

I use Ultrasoft Money on my Fuze with Microsoft Money Plus on my laptop.

Do any of these let you put your default curreny as £. I know it's a small thing, but seeing $ all over my money annoys me.

Does anyone know of a financial software that works well with RealVGA? Pocket Quicken was unreadable and Cash Organizer only filled a quarter of the screen...

AceMoney
I use AceMoney on both the PC and the PocketPC. There is a lite PC version that allows for only one account that is free. The full version is $ and the PPC version is $, but they work great. They are basic, but do lots of what the big boys do.
It doesn't sync automatically though. Whenever I make changes on one platform I make sure to copy the file to the other as soon as possible.
www.mechcad.net
I've had a few issues here and there over the years, but the developer always seems to help me out.
I've tried others and I keep coming back to this one.

a good "Note" application ?

I don't like the microsoft note application I have. It's very slow (it takes a long time to open, and each time I close a note it takes again a long time).
Does anyone know a good "Notes" application other than the microsoft one ?
Thanks !
Are you talking about the default note app that comes with Windows mobile, or Microsoft's One Note? One Note used in conjunction with the desktop app is hard to beat.
I'm talking about the default note application that comes with Windows Mobile.
Look into Onenote, unless your looking for a cheap/free app. You can get a free trial to see if you like it. Onenote on the phone by itself isn't that valuable without the desktop app. I do a lot of research and I like to compose on the desktop what I might need in the field. Onenote fits my needs perfectly. It might not be a fit for yours though.
Or consider phatpad, phatnotes or Daynotez
OneNote Mobile is too basic for me, although the desktop version looks astonishing.
You may also consider Phatpad, Phatnotes or daynotez. All three are excellent applications, but all with a twist that makes each of them great, depending what your needs are. I've bought daynotez and phatpad. Would've bought phatnotes too, if the integration with phatpad was just slightly better
Vito Audionotes is also fantastic. That's what I use. You can even record phone conversations.
Webis note2self is great. Talk your note and mail it to yourself ;-) Easy as that.

I tried both "phatnotes for outlook" and "phatpad", they are very good but there's a big problem : you can't sync the notes using Outlook.
Even the "phatnotes for Outlook" application needs to first import all of your notes (with tabulation or comma problems ...) before syncing them with Outlook.
In fact I need a "notes" application which would be able to simply use the same notes as the microsoft notes application and sync them with Outlook...
But with no "import" needed (because imports caused me many problems).
Does anybody know one ?
Thanks again for everyone answers ...!
Here's my fav: http://free.hostingjava.it/-frusso/pda/frNotepad
It saves notes in plain txt (.txt) just like Notepad on your pc.
Evernote ?
The app is free (but to a certain storage level a month) and the ink note taking is OK. Text one is sub-OneNote Mobile however. Killer is that it syncs up to "the cloud" so your notes arevailable on web, windows or mac as well as Mobile.
Worth a look. IMHO nothing can touch PhatPad/Notes for function, but in today's world of connectivity, it is poor on being able to sync and share.

Because you didn't say what the long-term use of the application might be, I'd second the vote for PhatNotes. I use it on desktop and PPC and love it. The notes do, in fact, synchronize. However they do it on their own, not within the confines of Outlook. For this "inconvenience" it offers a very robust feature set, with only the one-time trouble of having to do some reformatting.
So, if you can get past that, I think that PhatNotes may be what you want.

New O2 XDA Stellar - Setup info required :)

Hi all,
Just upgraded from my O2 XDA IIi to the XDA Stellar. On my XDA IIi, I would perform a corporate install which would not install the O2 rubbish and make the device run faster. I'm not sure how I do this on the stellar.
Also, I'm looking for suggestions from gurus out here on how to ideally setup the phone so I can set it up and do a sprite backup (this used to work fine on my IIi). Any tweaks to make my stellar run faster?
I plan to install the software list as listed below, please give me your suggestions
Ilium Software eWallet v5
Ilium Software List Pro v5
SPB Pocket Plus v4.0.2
Pocket Breeze
Pocket Informant
TomTom Navigator v7
Lexisgoo Dictionary
Omega One Journal Bar (Recent reviews seem to be bad for this)
Pocket Controller v6
Opera browser
SPB GPRS Monitor
Sprite Backup (Or should I try SPB backup?)
Phone Dashboard
Resco File Explorer
Skype
SPB Mobile Shell
Pocket Mirror (Not sure if this adds any value over Active Sync)
Perhaps install some simple games like minesweeper etc.
I find it very difficult to use the case that comes supplied with the stellar, so I've decided to go in for the Crystal Case (http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/16042.htm). Any one has any experience with this case? I need all round protection for my phone, my one year old has a great fascination for phones. And try as I might her sneaky fingers do get to it sometimes and my XDA IIi has ended up on he floor (which has given it a crack or two ). Is it possible to attach this case to the belt with a belt clip?
Also plan to get the Sandisc 8GB SDHC card which should give me plenty of storage for my videos, music and TomTom European maps.
Any other accessories I should be looking at?
Sorry for the long post, just some useful tips from gurus here to get me started on setting up my stellar I love it so far
Forgot, I also plan to install Blackberry Connect (not sure if this already comes installed by default) so I can receive work emails. Has anyone tried this?
Anyone Any help will be greatly appreciated
From the O2 XDA Stella site
#
Before using the software, you must have subscribed to a BlackBerry tariff and your SIM must have been enabled for this service. If you are unsure, please contact O2 via the customer service number on your bill.
# 1. Make sure the Xda Stellar is connected to Activesync
# 2. Once Activesync has connected, click on the Explore button on your PC to open the Xda Stellar storage area
# 3. Insert the Applications CD into your PC
# 4. Locate the file BBConnect_WM6_Professional_BB_4[1].0.0.91.cab
# 5. Copy this file to the Xda Stellar storage area
# 6. Disconnect the Xda Stellar from your PC
# 7. On the Xda Stellar, tap Start > Programs > File explorer. This should take you straight into My documents. If not, please select this from My Device
# 8. Locate BBConnect_WM6_Professional_BB_4[1].0.0.91.cab and tap once to install
# 9. The file will now start to install. On successful installation, select OK
#
To use the BlackBerry client, tap Start > Settings > System > BlackBerry, and follow the on-screen instructions.

You can get the Blackberry Connect 4 update here: http://www.my-xda.com/software_updates.jsp (but it's just as easy to get it here: http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=276 )
I'd recalled seeing various posts with people struggling with BB4 with WM6.1 so check out this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371652 if your having problems.
Personally I gave up trying to protect my Kaiser and thankfully it has survived the many drops I've punished it with. Although the screen looks grubby, it always cleans up. It can be rather large for the pocket though in some trousers.
I personally prefer the NetFront Browser 3.5 to Opera ( which you can get here: http://www.access-company.com/products/mobile_solutions/netfrontmobile/browser/35_wm_tp.html ). I just find it more ergonomic than Opera. I'm a bit gutted that the trial ends on Aug 31st though.
I've never used Sprite backup, but you might want to check out the freely available PIMbackup 2.8 and Sashimi 7.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392983 which may suit your needs.
I would suggest installing the KaiserTweak and Schapp's Advanced Config ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070 ) programs to give yourself complete control over your device.
Regards,
Rob
Thanks Rob, really helpful. I've never heard of the blackberry tariff, is this different from the normal tariffs that O2 offers?
I'll have a look at the other software you mentioned and give them a try
I've put a screen protector on my phone, so hopefully the screen should stay free of scratches. It is the sides of the phone I'm concerned about since from experience with my XDA IIi, it seems to fall on the side and the case has cracked in a couple of places (still works fine though) and it breaks my heart to think it could happen to a shiny new phone
Thanks again, really good stuff

It may be something to do with users that want blackberry style facilities through O2 rather than their own corporate server so you can safely ignore that comment?
However....I have seen Vodafone with different tariff's for Windows mobile phones and blackberry before.
Your welcome by the way.

Yes I just visited their site and found out that the free trial ends on 31st of August, they don't seem to have a license I could purchase and make use of.

Out of interest, how do you carry your phone? Do you use the supplied case or just carry it in your trousers? Working in IT I mostly dress up in jeans and the stellar is definitely too bulky for them Still waiting for the protective hard cover case to arrive, not sure if I've got butter fingers or I've been too finnicky about not dropping it, but I've already managed to drop it twice, luckily on carpets so far

I spoke to my systems department and they reckon that I might need to enable blackberry services on my SIM and they don't think that is available for personal users. Might need to have a chat with O2 and see if they can offer that to me
Thanks for all the help
if you have a blackbery then anyone on a contract can get the blackbery bolton, its £7.50 per month extra and provides you with unlimited usage(fair use).
the only thing is it needs to be used on a blackberry not a xda or any other phone for that matter due to the fact that blackberrys go through a different portal to get to the net or emails.
for the xda or any other type of handset exc blackberry its best to put on the unlimited web bolton for £7.50 per month this gives you unlimited web(200mb i think) only on the handset not to be used as a modem for laptop etc.the connect software will just connect through the mobileweb apn.
when a blackberry connects it goes through blackberys own apn, when you click home on a blackberry it takes you to the blackberry wap site i think.

Checkbook software

I'm looking for a program to use on my Tilt, a checkbook register to keep track of my checking/atm account. Does any one know of such a program? I've looked @ handango and am famlure with SpashWallet but that is more than I'm looking for. Any help?
check out this site : http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ I think that they have a couple of apps (i.e. money goes away, expense control, mybudget) here that you can use to keep track of your finances and they are free.
hope that this helps.....
I use SPB Finance, works great even syncs with Microsoft Money. http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pocketpc-software/finance/

Money management program to sync with MS Money?

Hi,
I wonder if anybody knows if there is something similar to "Inesoft Cash Organizer" for Android? http://www.inesoft.com/eng/index.php?in=premium.html
With WM I used this program to track my everyday expenses and synced them with MS Money. So all the data and accounts were neatly synchronized.
At the moment I use "Easymoney" with my HTC Hero http://www.handy-apps.com/easymoney/overview.aspx to track my expenses, but no sync with MS Money means I need to enter all the recorded data to Money manually...
and also I would appreciate info, if some other option is available (android version of quicken, moneydance etc...)

i used cash organizer on wm too, and it really is a great app. the only android app that comes near to it is easymoney which you have already found. there is no other professional money management app available as for now. easymoney is the best choice, so you will have to stick with inserting each expense/income with easymoney.
Since i dont like new win mobile 7, and im on android now, i would like cash organizer too !
awesome program
Help me please
Did anyone have found a good alternative for Cash Organizer on android, i'm stuck with Winmo now because of it
there is this app "Easy Envelope Budget Aid: Sync" and it has a lot of great features ...
yet, there is still no app that can help you forecast your expenses
Good news, you can get the cash organizer in android now.

still without sync mit PC
inesoft cash organizer claims to be in sync with MS MONEY

I found only a function which exports existing database. So it will be a manual syncing. Lousy...
If someone finds out another way to do this or a better app I'll be happy to know.

[Q] Sorry :) but need to ask - Any way to sync with Microsoft Money

I know this is a long shot, but the only thing I miss when I upgraded to GalaxyS from my TouchHD is that I am not able to sync with my MicrosoftMoney. I have tried many possibilities but there isnt anything that allows me to have a selected view of my desktop MicrosoftMoney application on my phone and edit it on the phone and sync once in a while with my desktop application back.
I know google will never release anything which makes talking easy for microsoft products - we know how outlook syncing is difficult. But anybody has any workarounds to this?
Please share if you have any ideas.
Thanks
There are a few apps that allow you to use your PC from the phone. Not sure how goof they are but it may be a workaround. (use MS Money on the PC direct from the phone).
Microsoft hasn't released versions of Money since 2007 0.o And honestly, you are the only person I have EVER heard of using it (maybe why they stopped)
Have you considered upgrading to an actively maintained product?
