GPS Cardinale 2.5 - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Hy
i am a bit new so... i have a question...
i bought my tytn II and i got the micro SDHC 4GB class 6 card with phone,on this card is gps software cardinale 2.5. as i am a stupid guy i managed to lost the card with software. i bought a new card but it is a class 2 card and i coppied cardinale from my frends card and it is not working on my phone... my question is... is it the thing with class 2 card so i need to buy a class 6 so my gps can work or i am F...ed? i tried my frends card with cardinale on it and it worked...
Thanx

Class 2, class 4 and class 6 just refer to the sped that the card can transfer or write data.
The Tytn II will work with cards of any class, so that isn't your prolem I'm afraid. You should still be able to see your card and view the files in file explorer....
Perhaps the new card needs formatting as FAT first? It might be formatted in a way that the TYTN can't read it...
There may be some instances where speed (class) made a difference, bu tit shouldn't stop the application working - and even if that was an issue - you should still be able to view the files on the card using explorer. If you can't do that the card may be faulty...

1 GB Dane-elec Xs work fine on my Qtek 2020i(XDA2i)
you may format card before use
I have you tried any other card in your XDA IIi.
I have a DANE-ELEC 1 GB SD card and a INOV8 512 MB cards
and both work well.
Sorry I can't be of more help
Muzza
Kingston 2 GB (30651-001.A00LF p799861x01)work as well,
maybe i should have purchase a 4 GB
Scandisk 1GB SD card working fine!
transcend 2gb 150x absolutely fine work =))
maybe you have bad card? or maybe format it via cardreader can help..
My Kingston 2GB works great on the device, might be a case of a bad card for you, tried it on any other devices?
Worked
I use Kingston 1Gb SD card... 50x and it works fine... maybe your battery is dying
I think theres still a 4gb SD card at work which I'll give a go tomorrow if I get a chance.
I work at CeX in Brighton, England, and we get a lot of different types of memory cards in. So far I'm just using a standard SanDisk 512mb card, but will eventually get a 2 or 4gb (the 4gb we have is £120 >.<)
Kingston SD Card 1GB works fine on my XDA IIi. What brand do you use anyway?
XDA IIi definately supports up to 4gb (150x) cards.
I just got a "Topram' 4gb 150X...despite formatting both via card reader and my device it will not read...
Does it show the card size in the Memory cp? Or can you just not transfer files to and from it?
neither...as soon as I insert it into the 2i I am asked to format it to make the card ledgible...so I agree...but it still does not show up at all. Neither in memory size menu or file explorer.
I have formatted it via card reader on the compeuer too...It accepts files via card redaer so the card itself is ok.
But every single time I insert it into the PDA it asks me to format it again and it never shows up.
bit off topic but as anyone else had a problem with SD/MMC cards working for a while (sometimes as little as 6 months other times over a year) then totaly stopping ie show as not being there in any card reader, only to come back to life after about 12 months stuck in a draw. I have had this with 2 cards so far and got 1GB card in the draw at the moment which stopped working just as I put some important files onto it
SD Cards
I have a 4GB Transcend, 2GB SanDisk and a 512MB Unbranded and they all work perfectly fine in my xdaIIi, maybe your card reader is a bit iffy?
EDIT: By card reader I mean the bit that you insert the card into the xdaIIi
It may simply be certain makes of cards that work, and certain that dont. All you can do is hope the retailers let you try before you buy

erm... u made sure u formated them as FAT not FAT32? i had no end of probs with my 2020 when i did that, and the 1gb unbranded card i have in my 2020i is FAT and works fine, as most hand helds and camera (i use it in my konica/minolta SLR digital, it hates FAT32 file systems too) format them as that and jobs a good one!

Does a 4GB SD-Card work in Alpine??

Hey guys I`ve bought an Alpine and I want to put a 4GB SD Card in it??
Do you think, it works? Or is the maximium 2 GB, which works in Alpine?
CU
4 gb cards work......mostly.
I've used both the A-Data and the Transcend 4 GB cards on my Alpine. There is only one problem I've experienced. If your 4 GB card is less than half full (i.e. available storage is > 2gb), AND you've configured your camera to save the pictures you take to the SD card directly, then you may experience an error. The error simply says it can't save the SD card. If you card is more than 50% full of other stuff, then there is no problem using the camera application and saving your picutres directly to the SD Card.
I RARELY use my camera, so I really don't care. Plus, I have enough stuff on my SD card so that it never has more than 2 gb of available storage (i.e. its always more than half full). Consequently, this bug in the camera application is really not much of a nussiance.
ok, thank you very much for your reply...
It work, as I had a Kingston 4GB SD Card
without problems??
can you give me some more details about your sd card??
thank you
A 4Gb will work, but it does depend on the make - since, I'm guessing, cheaper makes use cheaper parts. Kingston and SanDisk seem to be pretty good.
I have a generic (samsung oem perhaps?) 4gb SD card and it works fine apart from it seems to be a tight fit in the slot. No problems with it as yet though.
SD card
I used a topram 4GB mini with adaptor and it did not work.
I then bought a Transcend 4GB MMC+ (plus) and it works like a dream.
I hope this helps you.
Watch out that the card is not a sdhc card. SDHC cards look like normally sd cards, but they dont' work on the Alpine.

all sdhc (high capacity) cards have "sdhc" sign so you can easily discern them
only the newest htc devices support sdhc cards
I'm using 4GB Tanscend SD Card with my alpine
and its working fine
Thanks to the advice here, I bought a 4Gb Transcend MMC plus and it works beautifully.
So much space is a real bonus as I have Tomtom maps of Europe, the whole of the USA, 6 or 7 full movies plus 20 or so albums worth of mp3's still with 500mb free for odds & sods.
Hi,
I am using a HAMA 4GB, and it is working more or less fine.
I don't know if it is a card issue or caused by the heat recently in Austria, but my Nav freezes from time to time.
I have to turn the 2020i off and then on, then it works again.
Some days ago, the card suddenly lost some data....
I have a SanDisk 4GB SD Card, however when I put it into my Alpine it doen't seem to recognise it. It just doesn't show up. Can anyone give me any hints on how to force it to look for it or something like that?

Questions on MicroSD

Hopefully an easy question for someone to answer! Will the Kaiser read a SanDisk 8GB MicroSDHC card?
On another point, I have a 4GB MicroSD that no device can read anymore. I cannot reformat it as it does not show up on the device (PC, PDA or anything!). Any ideas?

1. yes
2. ??
1. Thats what I have
2. Broken card, throw it away?
Hmmm
1. Been running that for a while.
2. Make sure your PC Reader can support MicroSD before deciding that the PC can't read it (hint - putting the microSD card into the Sandisk larger shell does NOT make it a regular SD card). If you are POSITIVE your computer can read a MicroSD card, and it doesn't register, then toss the card.

Corrected above - the adapter DOES turn a MicroSD into an SD, AND a MicroSDHC into an SDHC. But, not all readers can read the HC cards (4GB and more).

This has been asked many times and the answer remains yes (the same for the 16 GB version - I use one with my TyTN II).

When you say 'anymore', whats changed? Are you still using the same microSDHC -> SDHC adapter that the card came with and a suitable SDHC compatible reader when testing it on your PC? If so, it's time to get in touch with the company that sold it to you for a warranty claim.
I had a similiar problem. While moving some music over to my 8 gig SD brand card it failed after about 3/4 of the files and then dissapeared. I've tried soft reseting and popping the card in and out and I can't get my phone to recognize it.
I need to get a new usb adapter b/c the I don't think the one I have is hc compatable (it's a few years old) so I have no idea if my computer will recognize it directly. Does this sound like a card issue or phone issue.
Running ATT WM6.1 minus bloat with a few programs (all of which have been running for a week or so no problems). Sorry to hijack, I just didn't want to open a new thread and get flamed.
i got a 4gb micro SDHC, its a sandisk. i got it to upgrade from my 2gb sd, i have read that the HC cards (sorry if the card is in the acronym) are compatible with tytn II's.
it wasn't with my original rom, and now i have tried to new roms both of which wont recognise it at all. is there anything i can do?

Since this morning my device is telling me that no Storage Card is inserted. I didn't change anything and the SD has been inside the device all the time. I bought the device around april 2008. I still have to test the card on my PC at home, but I wanted to check what my chances are. What is a bigger change? That the SD card just died on me or that my device has a hardware problem?
Funny thing is that yesterday I flashed to a diffrent ROM. I did a hard reset, still no luck. Flashed with an entirely other ROM, still no luck. So I am hoping its just the SD card that broke. Would be strange if flashing a ROM would cause the SD card hardware inside the device to fail the next day.

My laptop has a SD reader but it doesnt even map the card to a drive like it usually does. Any tools that I can use?
I already ordered a 8 gig MicroSD which should arrive tomorrow.
I'm not ready to blame my Tilt for my mSDHC problems but it sure seems like theres a lot of posts out there here and other places about people having memory card problems with their Tilt. I"m going to try again but if another memory card fails I'm sending my tilt back and hopefully I can demand to at least upgrade to a Fuze for a cost.
Funny this thread came up as my 4 gig card crapped out on me recently and is unrecogniseable to any device after running the sdhc cab on it. But yea, 8 gig works just fine. Using a 16 gig now with smooth sailing

Has anyone tried a Sandisk 16G SDHC?

I've searched the forum without much luck so hopefully I won't be flamed..
I am looking at getting either an 8G or 18G Sandisk microSDHC with adapter.. but wondered if anyone else had taken the plunge yet?
Thanks
erosco
*bump*
Isn't there anyone out there brave (nee dumb) enough to try out one of these?
Hello i have 8G Sandisk microSDHC Class 6, trinity dont work corectly, when i soft reset access ton the microSDHC is ok, but when long time arrive access to microSDHC is slow. i return to my "old" miniSD 2go an now access is ok.
microSDHC 8G work fine on touch HD i think my rom drivers is not ok for microSDHC.

Hello!
Tried with a sandisk 16GB SDHC micro. I formatted but the Trinity formatted only for 3 GB :-((.I formatted in a notebook for 16 GB, but the HTC saw the card as a 3GB one :-(
Now I should try another mini adapter, because my one is a little old (used for a 2GB microSD)
Any news on this? I just purchased a p3600 and 16 gb would make it the perfect Phone for me.
Someone else had an 8GB SDHC and in the the trin it showed 0gb but he was able to write/read the full 8gb. Maybe you could try to fill your card to the limit too.
I have a SanDisk 16GB SDHC which didnt work with the original ROM (also only saw approx 3 GB). But updating the ROM fixed it and it now works perfectly. So I guess its a driver thing only.
Wohoooo!
16gb sandisk is on it´s way.
which class is the Card (2,4,6)?
i want to know too. im guessing its a class 2.
I couldn´t find any other than class 2 too. So I guess it is class 2 but I decided to go for 8gb first and maybe upgade to 16gb in March/April when I expect the prices to drop because 32gb will be available in stores.
any link for update?
(shall I update the whole ROM or it's just a littla patch?)
working with WM5 only... (don't wanna upgrade for WM6 :-( )
HTC 6300 and SDHC 16G
Hi, My experience (2 days) is the following:
- PDA recognises the SDHC, with 15,5 GB (iso 16G but this is normal)
- I copied from an old backup lots of programs, etc using a PC and all files are seen by PDA and programs work fine...
- BUT I tried to move files and to install in SDHC card directly from PDA and it does not work.
I am now tying to find a driver or something, but not success for the time being.
(I am using a class 6, HTC P6300 with original WM5)
Hi again,
I heve rechecked and the only failing action is the SW installation in SDHC card (both from PC and from cab file).
Any idea about why installation is failing?
Thanks
Hi people,
I was brave enough to buy last week a Sandisk 16 Gb microSDHC class 2 to use on my HTC P3600. I'm using an old miniSD adapter and my cooked ROM is [PTG] WM6.5.3 OS 5.2.23554 (build 23554.5.5.0) by Antix. I have not installed any other custom sdhc drivers. It is using the original ones that come in the ROM.
I never formatted the card. Not on Trinity or PC. So it has the factory format. I just tested with H2testw to confirm that it was indeed a 16Gb card (I bought from ebay-30€) and also the write speed is 5.8Mb/s.
First impression was that the card worked flawlessly with 15185Mb recognized. I took some photos, installed programs directly to the card, all good.
But then I noticed that 1 in 5 times I reboot the phone, I see some missing icons and it says no storage card inserted. The icons are stored on the card that is why I miss them. To solve this I need to reboot the phone again.
Other than that it seems fine until now. I will update this topic if anything different happens.
Still I would like to hear if anyone has a flawless experience with Sandisk 16Gb microSDHC with some other ROM / drivers.

sdhc Kaiser II TeRrIbLy slow

Hi everyone
That's my first post! I've been hanging around here withwout becomming user so long...till now.
I have just bought an sdhc card ( dont know the class ) and it's working EXTREMELY SLOWWWW on my Kaiser TyTN II (htc) when I mean slow, i mean below usb1.0
I'm using Card Export II, compatibility with Hermes devices, and when writing a single mp3 through, ~6mb it takes 5 minutes. Transfer rate is below usb 1, and that was weird, so i've checked to transfer ~6mb to anotrher microSD card (256mb old card from old phone, nokia brand) and the song was copied pretty fast, reaching usb 1.0. bitrate
Imagine to copy a 400~mb film on my new card, even i can't copy mp3 ...to slow...ah, almost i forgot it, the new card, kingston sdHC with it's HC pc card reader works exellent, usb2.0.
How that can be possible? an old card is working at least 4fold times faster!!! than my new Kingston sdHC 4gb.
Any idea?
Really appreciate.
Any idea about that?
Someone is using a Kaiser II with Card Export II? having reeeaaaly slow data rate¿
thanks
As you know, the Kaiser only supports USB 1.1 and thus (s)low speeds.
First of all, disable the Hermes workaround option. Activating the option reduced my transfer speed by half (approx.).
For large files, just use an external USB 2.0 card reader.
In the past I have done a test to get an idea of the different transfer speeds:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392941 (post 9)
Just wondering: which ROM are you using and which class has your SDHC card? (Me: -G-'s DK.10 series - WM6.1 & SDHC Class 4)
As to why your transfer rates are so low, I have no idea...
Hi!
Mhhh it could be the rom....i've even tried tweaking registry parameters (increase sd bloc size, etc) with no significant success on writing speed.
I've got and kingston 4gb sdhc class 4, rom WM6 prof compilation 18125.0.4.2
I had this problem with a Kingston 8GB Class 4. I tried tweaks and other roms, no luck. I ended up exchaning the card for another one that was exatly the same, and it completely solved my problem. I think a bad one gets in the batch from time to time. It took like 2 minutes to transfer 500kb. Granted, it takes a long time to transfer files anyways, but not that bad.
I've heard this from other people as well. However,

if not mistaken, i think i've read somewhere stating that kaiser max spped is usb1.1 and class2 for sdhc (hardware limitation)
well
I jave update the rom....to hyperdragon III and things got worse....
Now, can't even connect with pc via Card Export....and the worst of all, my gps got ruined.
More than 45minutes to catch gps signal
Before flashing, with the original rom i got satellite inside home, now...now not even outside....
Gps is now spoiled.
I've used [13 January 2009] HyperDragon III Raphael OS 5.2.21009 Build 20931.1.5.0
Now i should fix the gps...any idea¿? reflashing the rom would be painful.
Thanks
The fastest transfer rate I have found was via a ftp server on the kaiser. Its called Mocha Ftp Server. Works via wifi
Hope this helps
P.S.
I dont think HDIII comes with a radio. Maybe you are using an incompatible one. Look at the list on his page and download a matching radio for WM6.1 ( as this 100% will cause issues with any radio function including GPS )
It's not only a hardware thing.. I am using an sdhc 8 gig from sandisk, and just reading/writing to it is slow (even w/ an external reader as oppossed to the one in my comp)....
I guess it's like trading off mileage for speed in a car though.............. I dunno, I'm about ready to chuck mine, good thing it only cost me 29 bucks.
