I upgraded my old BA a few years ago. It's original spec was...
PH20B 0 B
ENG G
T-MOB005
1.06.00
1.06.160
1.00.00 00.00
...and, having just run devicedata, apparently I upgraded to...
PH20B
WWE
5.03.02
NONE
4 % 4
using PDA2k_WWE_14000_176_11200.exe, or maybe it was MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe ... I have all that info from an old downloads archive.
(actually, on the pda, in Settings/Device Information, it says I have radio version 1.13.00, with Protocol version 1337.42.
My question is - because fraankly I am confused, despite a successful upgrade last time - is it worth upgrading again now. I want to keep using the unit if possible, ideally as a music center, but am not worried about the phone anymore.
I'd quite like to use the radio though, so maybe it would be sensible just to upgrade that?
And I gather from these forums that Wins Mobile 6 is a no-no for this old brick, it that still the case? The posts I saw were over a year old.
Many thanks for any advice.
Olly.

Wow, you did miss quite a bit then, didn't you?
Search the forums (I don't know how you could have missed the "Blue Angel Mobile 6" forum) and try a few of the 6.1 ROMS available.

I have searched the forum for some qualitative information on what the radio upgrade gets you. The masochistic geek in me is dying to upgrade the radio (after the recent SX66 Upgrade from Siemens) just to have the latests but... I have not seen anyrhing other than some conflicting anecdotal remarks on what the 1.06.02 Radio offers. Has anyone done any testing before and after the update? If so please share.
If not - I will probably lose control of my better judgement and do the upgrade. Any advice on what I should expect to see change and what might be measureable (without extra equipment) would be great. In that case I can take measurements before the upgrade and after the upgrade and post results.
BTW: this forum is great!
I am running the 1.33.110WWE Rom on my pda2k and recently was running the 1.06.00 radio, but I have changed to the 1.06.02 radio from the Qtek 1.22.167WWE rom. My b/t is better with a full 25 ft range and my wifi connects much faster and stays connected.People that I talk with say that there is no longer any echoing in my voice.
All in all, I am very happy with my pda2k now. It is an 8 out of 10.(Finally!)
Hope that this helps......

Thanks for the reply. I also saww a post that the BT dropped after the Seimens 1.33.10 update with Radio 1.06.02. Have you noticed anything else like more signal bars in GSM/GPRS?
Thanks

Hello, everyone.
Let me start my first post by expressing a very big thank you to each and everyone contributing to this wonderful community. I've been reading the forums for the past few weeks and the wealth of information, advice and tools around here was a pretty big factor in my decision to acquire a HTC Trinity. Least, but not last, some very special thanks go to our brilliant ROM cookers! What would we have done without you?
I have to say that I'm the very happy owner of a branded (Orange SPV M700) HTC Trinity. It's been a week or so since I have it and I'm very, very happy with it. It's the black version (no white ones at Orange Romania) - I'm a little bit worried about the peeling issue.
The ROM is Orange's original (Windows Mobile 5.0 with the Messaging and Security Feature Pack, OS 5.1.2342 Build 15096.3.0.0). Device Information says:
Operator version: 19.123.10.704;
ROM version: 1.23.70.4;
ROM date: 03/20/07;
Radio version: 1.38.00.01;
Protocol version: 32.71.7020.12H.
I'd very much like to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6, but I'm afraid that I'm gonna invalidate the warranty (not that I care that much about it, but what do I do if the paint starts peeling?).
Now, as I said above, I've been reading a lot in the past few weeks and learned new and interesting things which, ironically - or maybe not - brought me to the following questions:
Is there any way of doing a complete backup of the original Orange ROM, original SPL and radio ROM included?
If the answer to the above question is yes, can that backup be re-flashed to the device in order to bring it to the original state it was in when I unwrapped it?
Is SIM unlocking reversible? I don't really care about it, but I do want to know.
On the side note (not really pertaining to upgrading), what do you guys use / recommend for:
screen protection;
casing.
Do you know if the cover is replaceable? Say the paint is peeling, can I replace that part?
Shees, loads of questions for a first post, but I'm confident that when I will have learned more, I'd be able to actually contribute to the community. I'm a software developer, eager to try my skill with Windows Mobile and .NET CF development, so beware!
Thank you for your time and patience.

help
I too have found the people on this site well useful and am looking to completely backup The original Orange ROM, original SPL and radio ROM I have are earlier versions of the above and also would like to upgrade to wm6.
When I first got the phone I immediately bought a 3500mah battery which came with a nice black oversized case. mine is a white trinity so I got a black silicon case to put over the top which is a bit small but stretched quite well. Looks cool . Not really worried about warranty. Since i'm travelling at the moment
I don't wanna brick the phone as it gives me free internet and d/loads.
I've
have d/loaded a few roms off rapishare by 3g/gprs onto my sdhc card . Everyone seems to say mary roms are the most reliable.
my system is
operator v.19 123 16 15
rom v. 1.23.615
radio v.1.30.00.01
if you find a way to this bckup please let me know as I am a total novice and as I 've said this is a great piece of kit and I can't do without it. I have unlocked the phone with imei-check as when I first bought it there were no free unlockers that worked . its now got a vodafone nz card in.
would appreciate some help.
Thanks
Hey guys,
I bought a new unlocked Tilt (Kaiser 8925) the other day and I tried to install PointUI on it, but it seems to be choking with the AT&T OS.
I figured it might be prudent to flash to the standard HTC ROM without all the extra AT&T crap (I'm on T-Mobile, so it needs to work with that at least, lol). Problem is I don't know WHAT ROM to download or even how to install it. I did some digging around and a friend recommended this forum to me so I'm hoping you guys can help. I did poke around but didn't see any threads relating to what I need, but I could have easily missed one.
Either way, please help. Thanks!
System info:
HTC AT&T branded Tilt (Kaiser 8925) running WM6.0 (CE OS 5.2.1620 build 18125.0.4.2). ROM Version 1.57.502.2 (8/25/07) with radio version 1.27.12.11 and protocol version 22.45.88.07H.
The problem that presents with PointUI is this: When the UI loads other apps (messaging, contacts, there is a gap at top, it won't go back to the home, and it stops working all together). I am using PUI 1.02b. If I am using the wrong one, let me know!
Thanks in advance for the help guys. Sorry I'm a nub.
you did not spend enough time poking around

welcome to the forums
Thanks!
I did actually go through those, but I didn't know which ROM I should get. The closest I was able to figure out was by matching the radio versions, correct?
1.56.405.5 (radio 1.27.12.11) original wwe rom found here would be the appropriate one in this case then?
Also, since mine is an unlocked AT&T phone on T-Mobile, I'm going to have to unlock it again, or with the ROM listed above suffice?
I have been looking around for a couple of weeks and i cant find out how to upgrade my tilts radio version from 1.27.14.09 to 1.67
Thanks alot
Do a search here on "hardSPL" and/or "flash radio" (without quotes) and you will find what you're looking for. But (assuming you are new to the Tilt - like I am) be sure you know which radio you want and exactly why so you don't brick the thing and spend the rest of the time fixing errors.
Just my two cents,
MBN

You need to be redirected to here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser#ROMx20.Upgrading
Pay close attention to which radio's are for what ROM. Some radio's like the 1.65.xx.xx radios are for WM 6.1 ONLY. Right now you are running WM 6.0, so read some before flashing.
Rom: 1.36.00 wwe
Rom date: 01/13/05
Radio Version: HA00_140
PRL: 10032
ExtRom: 1.36.113 wwe
Hardware version: 0041
Camera Model
2k3 is SEVERLY outdated. No youtube/googlemaps/flash/adobe, and an assortment of other apps, like PointUI at the least or a decent media player or games.
The sprint 6600/6601 is just that, useless. I haven't found anything other than http://www.myehud.com/ppc6600/upgrade/
"Upgrade to 5.03.02WWE
Note: this is SO experimental, particularly since the ROM is for a BlueAngel, not a Harrier that no instructions are included. If you can't figure it out, it's not baked enough for you yet."
Basically "insert ROM of GSM model and pray to ****ing god it works." Has anyone tried this?
As for Android on this phone. It works, but it doesn't. God damn thing looses ALL keyboard/touch/buttons as soon as it hits the GUI. you get terminal use before it hits GUI.
I have not found the new build of Android for phones yet, someone please point me there to a download link.
Someone is offering $800 for a "WM5 or better" complete instructional upgrade tutorial for this model. http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6600-ppc-6601-xv6600/60026-bounty-windows-mobile-5-a.html
Look, I have been at this for months. Searching through google and this site for an instructional guide to this phone for installing some other OS.
Why do I still have Sprint? I pay $20/mo for unlimited EVERYTHING.
I prefer a Windows build upgrade to 5/6/6.5+, but I don't care. Android is fine if it can be fixed.
I have bad eyes, and I want to use this phone since everything else made by sprint is a tad too small.
I do have some modding questions as well. I've heard some models have wifi and radio. Can I solder these into this phone?
i wish you luck mate, i would backup your 2003se and flash a new rom and test it out, what is the diff in ur fone & a ble angel??
