ExtROM version not specified ... that normal? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Sorry, me again but I've added the device spec below.... just noticed that in Device Information it gives no details next to ExtROM version: ... it's just blank. er, does that mean I don't have an extrom!? if I need one...havn't a clue what it is, to be honest with you.
Anyway, spec otherwise is ...
PH20B
WWE
5.03.02
NONE
4 % 4
...and the original spec, before I upgraded a few years back, was ...
PH20B 0 B
ENG G
T-MOB005
1.06.00
1.06.160
1.00.00 00.00
many thanks again,
Olly.

Normal...
Its normal cause you dont run the UC compliant where the extended rom version records its name.

It's very normal.. It doesn't matter.
You can install ExtROM by yourself.
e.g.: xplode ExtROM
Sorry, less time to explain.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=81244#81244
looks like the only thing up can do is upgrade radio
your extended ROM is different from mine? you got a 162 and I got a 126, is there any big difference? Also regarding the Radio worth it to upgrade my Qetk?
Thanks
Daimaou
The way I understand it so far is that the version number of an exteneded rom is based on the carrier.
What I am saying is that just because I-mate has a Extrom 1.22.999
does not mean that it is higher than Qtek Extrom 1.22.111
all it says it that for I-Mate 999 would be a Higher version than I-Mate 1.22.555
What I have found out is that there are 4 types of cabs in the exteneded rom.
1) Upagrade and patches that build on the OS in this case 1.22.
2) Carrier settings, such as splash screens and MMS setings.
3) Free software such as zip and the PDF reader
4) Hardware upgrades like buuton9 which is only avalible on a Pocket pc that has a Hardware keyboard.
Thus my pratice is to leave the exteneded rom as is and cook it later.
Thanks so far since I don't have to complain of the present situation, I will leave everything as it is and wait for a new 1.XX rom

Click to collapse
I have yes, but that shows me reset combos and screen meanings. I need "meat and potatoes".
Also does anyone have this ---> WM5_pack_V3.rar ?
FTP is not working it seems.

Qtek 9090 upgraded to WM5, ExtROM version 0.0!!

Hi all,
I'm a newbie in all those technical questions. Yet, I've read a lot of valuable things at this forum and decided to upgrade my Qtek 9090 using IvanV4R3_RAMDisk32_1.11.zip.
Before I had the following parameters:
ROM version: 1.22.00 WWE
ROM date: 10/22/04
Radio version: 1.06.00
Protocol version: 1337.38
ExtROM version: 1.22.123 WWE
Now it has changed into the following:
ROM version: 5.03.02 WWE
ROM date: 03/02/05
Radio version: 1.06.00
Protocol version: 1337.38
ExtROM version: 0.0
Well, the device is operating but something tells me there's something wrong here...
Please advice what I did wrong - shall I update the ExtROM separately or what?
P.S. Oops, I've read somewhere here that in WM5 there's no ExtROM - maybe that's why the version is 0.0. Yet, I leave the question just to make sure this is right.
P.P.S. Sorry if this topic has been discussed somewhere, the intformation is so vast, I couldn't find that...
Ext-Rom is usually network or distributor-based customisation, such as O2's O2 Connect and O2 Active, HP's PhotoSmart, etc. Now, since this is an informal effort, there is no ExtRom
Thanx
OK, thanks for informing me!
I wonder if I ever need that ExtROM stuff then... Do you think it's useful and for what purposes?
Depends. Sometimes those "little extra tidbits" can help and be useful. Such as O2SMS Plus is sometimes useful, or O2 Active
some reading for a better understanding of extrom
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_RomKitchen

whitch country belongs the rom?

ROM version: 1.06.00 ENG
ROM date: 08/05/04
Radio version: 1.00.00
Protocol version: 1337.30
ExtROM version 1.06.117 WWE
Bluetooth: BT-PPC/PE Version 1.0.0 Build 1900
Looks like it may be one of the (old) oddball test units we were seeing a while back. Does it have any branding on the front? Or does it just say "Pocket PC"? Also, is that the original ship ROM info?
You can tell for sure by running getdeviceinfo.exe. If it shows "11111111" where it would usually show the operator code (T-MOB005, etc.) should be, you can bet it's one of the test units for sure. If it is, be carefull upgrading. They are easy to mess up and hard to fix. Good luck. )
