Hey guys, I seem to have all kinds of stuff on my start bar, is there a better one, that you can select what shows there, like to hide things you dont care about. Is there a skinable bar? The one thats there now is so boring, even the X button and start icon are boring haha.
I found one called WISBAR but it wont run because HTCs task manager is running and I'm not sure how to disable it, also it shows "touchflo" as an app/icon that's running, I wish you could add like exceptions, you know what I mean, at this point Id just like a start menu that lets you choose what to show and what not to show, like in windows where it has a collapsible button for things that are running. Skinning would be awesome but not necessary, anyone have ideas?
I thought for sure ppl would know all kinds of cool stuff I don't about this heh.
I think I have the best start program out there, its called Quickmenu. It replicates the real Windows Start menu and allows you to change whats on the start menu. Its freeware you can find here.

Awesome dude, I'll try this out.

hey guys,
ever since i played around with some of my settings (kaiser tweak), whenever i click anywhere on the top taskbar (volume, battery, connections, etc), it gives me this little menu where i then select which option i wanna go to.. it used to be where i can click on the battery and it pops up, or i click on the megaphone looking thing, and i can adjust the sound, in one click, not two.. anybody know how i can restore it to the way it was? ekhh... thanks
omar
are you sure that you didnt install this?

hah ur right... i'm using of dutythroys roms, and i enabled the large start menu, and when i did that it also enabled that task bar application.... wonder if theres a way to get the large start menu without that task bar thing.. thanks
omar
ps.. i dont really mind it, except for the fact that you cant adjust your in call volume with just the scroll wheel.
Is there any way to change the title bar into a small thin one like the iphone (or the one that appears when you have your phone on keylock with the s2u2 software?
I don't want to use the iFonz program b/c I don't want the iPhone interface so no flaming. I just want the pure black THIN title bar.
I figured the title bar is almost useless and just takes up useless space.
I use UltraLaunch to access everything including task manager and always the soft button to access start menu.
anybody have an idea? I guess it's not popular enough. I searched everywhere and can't find anything close.

YES I REALLY WANT THIS TOO !
yes one person wants it! anybody else? maybe there can be enough people who want it to prompt developers. I am sure it can easily be created to work just like the "dcinobar" cab. Just don't ask me to do it cause I don't know much.
Maybe a way to alter one of the registry settings via resco? ::shrugs::
i'd be somewhat interested as well...added screen real estate is always a plus
looks like theres not much interest. I tried installing rinko's iconbar which is the closest to getting rid of the title bar by making it transparent; someone said it would work wit our phones, but after doing everything that rinko said to do, it didn't come out. Maybe you guys can try it and have better luck
You could try WisBar Desktop.... idk if this helps or not
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/
I second using Wisbar.
Check the different versions to see if one of them fits your needs.
Then look in the forums at the "VOID" skin.
I have started using pbar 1.4 not 1.5 on my Touch Diamond instead of HTC task manager as :
1. It shows memory and battery life also in its popup window
2. It shows time and battery % over the battery icon in task bar
3. It can be used to switch in-between programs thro' its pop up window
4. You can have few favorite programs launched thro' the pop up window
HTC should also think on these lines

Exactly my point!
They are trying to keep it as simple as possible for the general public.
Geeks like us can use their advanced programs like PBar or WkTask or QuickMenu. However, too much info on the screen is confusing for John Averageuser who is just trying to decide whether to buy this or an iPhone.

I Differ.
They are making us use more programs than one like pbar for all these things. Comm Manager, HTC task manager, System status indicator like batti, battery status etc,
program launchers etc.
here whenever u launch a program simple hit fav icon in pop-up menu and it is added to your fav launchers list. You have exceptions list alo.
I recently bought TD2, and is by no means a big fan of the new startmenu. How is it possible to replace it with the "old" one ?
I've been searching the forum, since I've heard of a little program that can fix this issue, but without luck .
Thanks in advance !
The new start menu comes as part of Touch Flo 3D.....If you distable TF3D in settings\personal\today\items, you get the old menu system.
I'm amazed that anyone would prefer the old WM one.

There are two great lacks in the new menu :
1. too few items available in the 'icons' start page, and no kind of sub-folders or program groups.
then
2. if you go in the full list because your program is not in the icons page, the list can be long and fastidious.
Hope it will be corrected in next version and be available for D2, or windows 6.5 titanium/CHome will replace TF3D
Try TF3D2 Tweak in this thread

Thank you all, for your replies .
If you just want to change the start menu but leave Manila turned on, just change the following in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu\Enable ManilaStartMenu =dword:00000000
After a restart you have the old start menu
Is it possiple too keep both ways?
I mean when you press the start menu on the top of the screen to have the old start menu and when you press the windows hard key to have the new one?
I think this would be more usefull for many people who like the new menu but want some features of the old one!

Ah right, I see. I've not hit that issue, I guess I just don't use that many programs!
One question: how can I enable the old style like in WM 6.1.
I use 6.5 without Manilla (UDK R1.)
It's annoying to select start/settings/connections if you want to set more the 1 thing...bluetooth, WIFI etc....also for programs.
Or how can I customize the start menu in 6.5 ...order, content...
another way
This would keep the new start menu when you tap on "start" and make pop-up a replica similar whith the old one when you tap on windows or whatever icon you have on the upper left corner of the screen near the text "start". I didn't make this just downloaded from somewhere.

Doesn't seem to work on my Diamond2. (Does nothing)
I was wondering if someone could do a buttom like the settings buttom in the new start menu that could open the old programs menu.
I think this shouldn't be so difficult, since there is a similar buttom for the settings.
Welcome here Liviu. (Bine ai venit pe aici, marfa site-u pt HTC-uri)
I try it Quick Menu, it's like Windows PC START menu and it's hard to use with a finger
I speak about the old menu from WM6.1 not Pc windows...
Ksara it's works on TD2 I try it and work well but it's not what I want.
You are right Pauln, it's not finger friendly but hei! that stylus is there so ...
Anyway for me it does the job so here is a pic for those who want an alternative. The icon "Quick menu" you will find also in Programs.

I'm one of them. I disabled touchflo and installed spb pocket plus: I've got everything in sight, with no need to flip over strange desktops and icons!
I found these registry entries somewhere else and i thing these are the key to make a shortcut in manila programs folder to the old Programs folder Just like there is for the settings folder (number 3)
"Remove the locked program tab items
Code:
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/ProgramLauncher/0/IsReadOnly
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/ProgramLauncher/1/IsReadOnly
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/ProgramLauncher/2/IsReadOnly
HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/ProgramLauncher/3/IsReadOnly
Change this value from 1 to a 0 and you can then edit their shortcuts."
Please someone who is familiar with this , create a shortcut.

But what is the way to do it, because I don't want to install some software that almost does the same. I want it the old way.
Please help.
Is there already a thread about this?
Could someone point me in the right direction or post up a few screenshots & .cab files?
Thankss
Look at the reSTART thread; it allows you to customize the 6.5 start menu.
Personally, I find the default menus un-fixable. My biggest beef is that with many builds, they remain open behind the app you've launched, so that when you're done, you close the app, and what do you see? Not the main screen, like you should, but the stupid menu, still sitting open.
That's why I just use QuickMenu. It's pretty well customizable, can be modded to the point where it's finger-friendly, and has some nice additional features that make it well worth the free download.
Just my 2ยข [FONT="][/FONT].
I personally still use QuickMenu, its the most customizable and best start menu replacement I've found, its just an exe you put in startup but its got so many customization options its really worth looking into.
Cool, I'll check it out.
Thanks
