It's a known bug with ClearType in Landscape. You'll need to disable it, sorry.

yo!
dunno what ive done but ive lost that little bar at the top of the start menu - you know, the one with just icons of recently opened programs anyone know how to get it back?
Maybe my eyes but I have never seen the old WM5 top bar on my WM6 TyTnII??
edit..
Actually its not only my eyes its my memory also. I think you have to go back to WinCE for them on a PPC. Unless you have a WM Smartphone then they are at the top!
the small horizontal row of icons right at the top of the start menu when you press the start button? im sure it was there earlier today!
They are the programs that have been set to always show in the start menu. They only appear as a horizontal list of icons when in landscape mode so that they all fit in. In landscape mode they appear in a vertical list with text labels like the rest of the items in the menu.
You can choose which icons appear by going to Start -> Settings -> Menus.
Those only show up in landscape mode. In portrait, the full list with titles is displayed.
ahaaaaa! loool me being an idiot then! lol cheers guys youre right!
For Smartphone with WM5 or above you can navigate the Menu by pressing the direction key up and down to move to the next page and eventually cycle back to the first page.
With Wings it always sticks in the same page. I need to press the 'More' menu to move to the next page. Is this the case for you?
Is there a registry setting that can be altered to solve this problem
Thanks.

Yeah, I dont have my set to scrolling, but I set it to the list with smaller icons, and in that mode if I push the right direction it does a page down for me, and left is page up.
And in that thread (think its the right one) for the scrolling text some people have not noticed that they have to create the key for it...

Thanks. Problem solved.
Scrolling works for icon view with up/down
For list view, scrolling works with left/right key instead of up/down.
I just noticed that the Windows icon on the upper left of my screen which opens the start menu, is cut off. Only the left half is visible and it makes it more difficult to tap to open since the icon width is half the original size. Is there a way to fix this?? BTW I did a search and there was no info available on this...
try schaps advanced config,if problems still happens then try hard resetting, you might need a different rom

This was an Issue on Dutty's April 1 Hybrid ROM. Did you look in there for solutions? I don't think there was. Was a bug in the Rom.
Thanks for responding. I was finally able to figure this one out. I opened WkTask from preferences and there is a setting for horizontal offset. I just increased the value in the box and it fixed it in "real time" ie as I increased the number the open program field moved to the right, uncovering the Windows icon and giving me improved access to tapping it to open the start menu. All is well!
i have resco keyboard and have got used to using it w/keyboard not slid out (portrait mode?). it works fine.
today i wanted to type w/real keys. when i type a key, the text and is not visible--cursur moves as if i just hit space bar. all text is blank.
if im in google, for example, the predictive text is unreadable; if i hit "enter" what i typed is visible as a search.
i need to make settings so i can read as i type and see the predictive text..
EDIT ::
actually, if i'm in internet explorer and touch the "menu" on lower right corner, all the text displays blank also--if i touch on a blank area, it responds.
so i guess my display is acting up while in landscape mode..
i hope this is clear..
any help here?
thanx
Tried a soft reset, yet?
might be related to clear type ... seee if disabling it helps. i know in landscape mode that bug has been noted.

If u have flashe a new wm6.1 rom, u could try to disable cleartype in landscape. Thats the common problem. U can do that in advanced config.

Looks like I am a slow typer.
disabling clear type fixed most things..
Except that :: when i'm on google search bar, the problem persists..
as far as i can tell, thats the only thing wrong. it happens if i use
Resco or physical keyboard..
what else can i do?
thanx
edit : disabled clear type from settings.. fixed everything
Hi, let me first say that I did try searching for at least an hour for the answer to this question.
I am using the Enlarged StartMenu, which works quite nice in portrait mode.
Now I only use 5 menu items total, "Today","File Explorer","IE","Programs" and "Settings"
The problem is when I switch to landscape mode and open the startmenu, I lose the "Programs" and "Settings" menu options.
I have looked in the Settings > Menu options and could find these in the list to turn on.
Bottom line, I would like to keep the large start menu option in land scape but also have it show the "Programs" and "Settings" items.
Other Note: If I load up the start menu with other items and view it in landscape they show up, so the problem is NOT that their isn't enough space for the "Programs" and "Settings" menus
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yeah, look at the top-right of the start menu when you're in landscape, the Programs and Settings folders move up there.

Thank you very much..
I feel quite dumb LOL..
I guess I thought that was apart of the "recently used icons"
But, you showed me what I needed and it works perfect thank you..
I appreciate it..
