even with the HHC my HTC Home would only show 4 icons - with 5 selected in HHC. so I installed a file I found online called HTChome6.cab - now I have 6 "tabs" and even with one of them "unselected" in HHC it still shows all 6.
what do I have to do to have the following "tabs":
home, contacts, weather, launcher, profiles
??
thanks.
btw, I checked the registry for Tabsetting and the value is 1,2,4,3,6 (which is what I want) but it still displays all six tabs.
Tabs
In the settings of the HHC you can adjust the amount of tabs available- the profiles opne is the one that you have to activate.

i recently installed the htc home 6 button screen, and the htc home customizer
on the program launcher window there originally was an icon that takes me to the comm manager/wireless manager but i removed in an effort to re-arrange the buttons. but now i cant find it in the list of apps to add.
would it be possible for someone to direct me on how to get it back? thanks.

When you remove an icon from the launcher, there should be an empty space with a circle with a cross in it. Pressing that, should bring up thelist of apps you're talking about. On my device, it is just a few scrolling lines down.
Have you tried just typing "Comm Manager" in the top bar and press select?
unfortunately no luck on the typing in and hitting select. it just goes to the closest match in my case "contacts"
It was originally one of the first six or so items in the selection menu, if its not there i dont know where it would be.
I want the same thing, to add the Comm Manager to one of the launcher buttons, rather than trying to tap the connection icon at the top of the screen.
i use pocket toolman 2 which places a icon in the system tray with a host of other icons you can select. its quick, easy, and free... good app

I am not 100% sure which one but either Schaps advanced config or KaiserTweak one of those two things have option to enable wireless thingy on today screen. It shows your current wifi and bluetooth connections and clicking takes you to connection manager. I would first try KaiserTweak.

Worked out how to do it earlier.
Browse to the windows folder and make sure you've got all files visible.
Look for the executable CommManager.exe, right click on it, select copy.
Browse to windows\Start Menu\Programs\Tools right click, select paste shortcut.
Right click and rename the new short cut from, "Shortcut to CommManager.exe" to CommManager
Then it will be visible in the list of applications you can add to your shortcut buttons on the HTC homescreen. You can use the same method for any other applications you want on the launcher if they're not available automatically.
(I pasted the shortcut where I thought it most appropriate on the start menu).
thanks 6thElement. that shortcut worked.
thanks TimeSaver. i used KaiserTweak to enable wireless on the today screen initially.
This trick did not work for me. I have the Dutty WM6.1 Diamond ROM.
I need to put the Connection Manager on the Today screen, so that it can show me what am I connected to, but it does not show up in the Today item list.
I created a Registry key for iy in HKLM\Softwate\Microsoft\Today\Items and it showed up in the list, but still does not work, brobably because I am linking to the wrong DLL.
May someone, who has the CommManaget on their Today screen see what are the correct Registry entries in HKLM\Softwate\Microsoft\Today\Items for the Comm Manager and post here?
never mind my previous post - I found that what I was looking for was called "wireless" and can be added through the Kaiser tweak....
hello,
i have installed the HTC home plugin and at first there were only 5 tabs. then for some reason another one appeared.
but thats not really the problem i gues. what i really want is to juust have 3 tabs. anyone know how to do that?????
This is from the HTC Polaris tweaks and tricks thread by Mahmood:
2. Use 6 Tabs with htc home :
You need to edit your registry to get our music tab back,
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCHome
Add new string,
Tabsetting = 1,2,3,4,5,6
You can change the order of the numbers to sort the tabs how you like
1 = Clock tab
2 = Favorite People tab
3 = Weather tab
4 = Launcher tab
5 = Music tab
6 = Profiles tab
refresh the htc home to get the tabs u can do it by unchecking the today contacts and then checking it and it will refresh and
people who missed the favorites home tab delete this registry key :
HKLM\Software\OEM\MASD\Quickdial
delete it and refresh that's all and u will get all the 6 tabs !!
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Using this formula, you can also remove unwanted tabs by simply not putting them in the Tabsetting string.
if you are using the newer versions of htc home
settings->personal->today->htc home
registry edit
how do i get to the registry bit to edit it????
Install a registry editor on your PC or on your device (http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/)
Then you can edit it

Ok, what am I missing here - this used to work!
I've got the latest patched HTC Home plugin that correctly displays my local weather (Flint, TX) on the Home plugin.
Everything works....except:
When you click "More" from the 5-day view the Accuweather page launched is the default one where it asks you to enter your zip code or city.
If you enter this then it tells me (correctly) that this city is already in my list and THEN gives me the option to go to Accuweather Home which re-directs to my default location since this is stored as a cookie.
This is a pain!
Before it used to go directly to the "Home" page of Accuweather which then diplayed my local weather immediately.
AFAIK the only thiing I've changed recently is to load the new HTC Home customizer that allows preview of the settings. I've set this all up as before including using the custom database and setting my home city.
What am I missing? There seems no file in the HTCHome folder that controls this and no registry entry as far as I can see....
TIA.
Andy.
I've recently applied the reg edit to be able to view 5 items per row on my programs folder which now makes that page quite usable as a launcher. Now I'd like to assign my left soft key to open up the programs folder.
I'm using Soft Key v1.3. When selecting applications for the key, what is the name of the Programs Application that, when pressed, will open up the programs folder (ie, same as Start/Programs)? I've tried many that appear to be it but none work.
I've searched and searched on xda and actually found a few results but none that worked. I've tried creating shortcuts, even found a 'folderview.exe' file to put into the windows folder but, when pressed it opens up the default programs folder of only 3 icons per row. It seems like this would be an easy thing to do but I'm stumped.
If this made any sense of what I'm trying to accomplish, can anyone help please?
Any news on this?
I've been searching for hours about this subject and didn't find anything.
I'm stuck with this also, folderview.exe does open the programs menu folder but doesn't render the 4 icons per row, instead it presents only the standard 3 icons/row.
Anyone knows how to overcome this issue?
Thanks
BUMP!
Does anyone have a solution to displaying the 4 icon layout in folderview?
Or is there an alternative way to display folders in the program launcher?
Cheers!
@ question 1:
Start Menu\Programs on Soft Key
I actually found an application that is even more flexible:
WM5NewMenu by Saman.cz
It does NOT mirror the above mentioned folder,
but even better: you can configure it just as you like.
E.g.: I created a few submenues (Main, System, Connectivity, Navigation, Utilities, Games) and added the most important prog links to each submenu.
Give it a try and spend some time.
Hey, it's freeware.
@ question 2:
4 Icons in a row
best use Schap's Advanced Config (I used 3.0 as 3.2 did not work).
Then under the 1. menu item "user interface"
select "horizontal icon spacing" and change value to "112"
select "vertical icon spacing" and change value to "115"
select "icon title font size" and change to "6"
... perform a soft reset and ... you're done
Thanks M_O_N_A_C_O, but that's not what we are after.
We know how to set the folder with 4 columns and we don't want a new menu.
What we would like to have is some way to open the "programs" or "settings" from a button or softkey (like WMguy post) and still be able to get it with the 4 columns display instead of only 3, which is what happens if you do it with folderview.exe
I discovered a (not bug free though ) fix to the 4 column desire.
Problems:
The start menu is activated on selection of program shortcut
Adding or removing shortcuts activates the All Programs tab which then locks the Programs tab - restart TF3D to fix this (toggle Today menu item - select ok each time)
Please don't try to load the XVGA patch (it's probably not generic) - I tried and it made the Programs tab all disappear.
There's 3 patches
1. AllPrograms_Tab - Credit to showaco
gives you 4 columns on the Programs tab (the favorites)
also for All Programs but DO NOT USE this 2nd function or else the 1st one freezes.
2. The regedit for the standard WM programs (also Settings will be 4 columns) is commonly found.
3. adding the standard WM Start Menu
can't recall where I got it but the cab is below
the patches:
1. AllPrograms_Tab
I used v4.1 4 icons
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487192
2. the regedit:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\
Add a New Key “IconConfig”
In there Add DWORD Values:
“HorizontalIconSpacing” Dec value=”112"
“VerticalIconSpacing” Dec value=”115"
“IconTitleFontSize” Dec value=”6"
3. the classic Start Menu added to TF3D
see below
