[Q] Where is touchFlo 3d data held? - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

I was wondering where it is that touch flo 3d holds the files that control the info on the cities that are used under the weather tab.
Also, where the city database is, where the list of favorite contacts is held, and that's it.
I'm asking because I am configuring my Sashimi set up and would like to backup these files and any needed registry to make switching roms easier.
thank you.

"People tab" i do not know
but "weather" is in registries
current user-software-htc-manila
and a useful one is "program launcher"
local machine-software htc-manila

Customising the Today screen list of Items

Simple question, I hope. How do I add to or delete apps from the list on the Items tab (Start / Settings / Today)?
I currently have a list of 9 items, 2 of which are ticked but I can't see how to add or delete from the list.
Not checked items is NOT loaded in memory!
Items can be deleted from registry - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items. Every key under key Items represents settings for one today item - delete it and it disappears from the list in the Today applet.
Thanks. Can you point me to a suitable registry editor?
I guess I'm confused. If the app you're looking for isn't listed in the Items tab for today settings, it's 99.9% likely not to be a today plug-in, so adding it to the list won't help. Even if you did, it wouldn't run properly.
What specifically are you trying to add to Today? If it's an application (like Agenda One) that doesn't have a corresponding Today plug-in (like Pocket Plus or the HTC Home do) then you'll be adding it without much point.
Total Commander CE has good integrated registry editor. Another free PHM registry editor - http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/.
But - every good today plugin has uninstaller and typically there is no need to manually delete items. Be careful and good luck ...
When I installed TomTom it created an entry in the Items list. This was simply a shortcut to itself which appeared at the bottom of my Today screen.
I assumed that you could add any old app to this list and that would make it appear on the Today screen in the same way.
From what you are saying this would appear to not be the case?

On Today screen appear only very special programs ("dlls") with two exported functions. TomTom delivered mentioned special dll.
For other program You want to run from today screen make a link in some "host" Today plugin (Try Great SPB Pocket Plus - http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/pocketplus/?en)

I too have that TomTom shortcut at the bottom right corner of my Today screen. I do see a TomTom registry folder under today items for Today, but under Settings --> Today --> Items, TomTom is unchecked.
So, the question is: how specifically do I remove that shortcut, and how do I add others/another in its place (if I decide to).
FYI, I am using Pocket Plus, Mobile Shell and Phone Suite.
Thx
Update: Sorry for my ignorance. I am still learning WM6. This icon shows that TT is still active and disappears when the program is closed. Palm never had this issue since it can't multi-task.

Temporary Disabling of Today Plugins

I was browsing a thread on Modaco (probably this one, maybe this one) and there was an application to remove entries from the today screen item list and it mentions that this could save memory or something (not really why I want to do it - it's mostly because there are piles on my machine and I will never use most of them and I can't uninstall them (some are plugins for an app I use, others I just can't uninstall)).
I don't really want to permanantly remove these items and would want to back them up, but it would be nice if there was a program which was able to relocate the registry keys somewhere else.
If not, I don't mind doing it manually. I assume that I shall need to mess with
HKLM > Software > Microsoft > Today > Items
but if someone can post the details of anything else I need to remember it would be appreciated.
I think that is the only way to do it. Maybe you could make a shortcut directly to "Today" applet so it is a quicker to access?
What you were reading may have been about UltimateLauncher.
It allows you to scroll through multiple tabs of desktops, each one customized with their own Today plugins. What it can do is "Deactivate" whatever plugin is not active. This causes a slight delay when moving between tabs as the plugin is reloaded. However I tried with and without this feature and it only seemed to save 2-3% of my RAM (w/ HTC Home, SPB Weather, MS Live, and one or two smaller ones).
The plugins are disabled on the today screen and I do not often use them. I therefore want to remove their listings as they mostly just get in the way.
The plugins installed include....
Stuff I actually use
SPB Phone Suite
SPB Weather
Pocket Plus
Battery Status
GPRS Monitor
Calendar +
Stuff I might conceivably use
Windows Live
Skype
The following just get in the way on the Pocket Plus "Add to tab" option and on the today item list. I just don't need them there but might eventually need to put them back if a related program complains they are missing.
Standard WM6 I don't use and probably won't ever use
Date
Calendar
Messaging
Tasks
Owner Info
Device Lock
Mobile shell plugins I don't use
SPB Mobile Shell
Home Tab (Mobile Shell)
Time Tab (Mobile Shell)
Weather Tab (Mobile Shell)
Dial Tab (Mobile Shell)
Dial Tab 2 (Mobile Shell)
Dial Tab 3 (Mobile Shell)
Other items which just came installed and I can't de-install
Shortcuts
Running Apps
Meters
Last Call
Windows Live Search
Hence the problem, and I don't think it was related to Ultimate Launcher as the program looked older than that.
So, I'm not sure where the Today applet gets its list...but it is either looking in a folder or in the registry. (I'm sure someone can chime in with the appropriate location)
So, if it is looking in a folder, simply move the items you don't want to a subfolder so it doesn't populate them in the list.
If they are in a reg entry, export the reg entry and then delete the keys. That way you can import the reg entry if you need them again.
As far as I know i have not seen any program that will remove them from showing up as choices.
Also, as far as uninstalling programs that you don't want. Sometimes, though not always you can find a cab of the application you want to remove. Then, install the cab on top of the existing one, so it shows up in add/remove programs and then remove it, thus removing the application. This trick worked on removing some apps from my PPC6700 before I knew how to unlock the ROM.
Alternatively you can open up the cab and find what files and reg entries are used and manually delete them.
I'd recommend using dot fred task manager or CeRegistryEditor to backup \HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items and go ahead and delete whatever you don't like.
If you want to go the extra step, you can also delete the .DLL file as specified in each key. -- Don't delete the DLLs used for the Mobile Shell today plug-ins, as they may be shared with other SPB applications.
FWIW, this isn't temporarily disabling your today plug-ins. It's as close as you can get to deleting them, without deleting the whole application.
Hope this helps.
You might want to give this a try too... (Just found it while answering another thread)

Chnage the calendar from MS one to Agenda One

How do I change the link on the home screen to launch Agenda One when you click on a forthcoming calendar item instead of launching the rubbish MS calendar app. I am armed with a registry editor. Does anyone know how to do this.
You can use calender+ to make agenda fusion or pocket informant as your default calender.
Thanks I will try that
Actually, I am pretty sure that AgendaOne and PocketInformant offer to make these programs the default PIM application and therefore replace the systems shortcuts / defaults.
Question is: Does TouchFlo use fixed links to the different system applications (contacts, calendar, tasks) or does it address the system default settings?
If the latter is the case, setting up PI and AgendaOne as default PIM should work... if not, this is something that needs to be changed within the TouchFlo settings.
Worst scenario: There is no settings file or registry entry for TouchFlo to change these settings but it is directly embedded in the program code... in that case getting PI and AgendaOne to work with TouchFlo will become quite difficult.
I've just tried this with AgendaOne, and it only works for the standard access to calendar/contacts ie start/programs/calendar, but not for access via Touchflo interface.

In that case, I would suggest to look for a registry entry that defines the application started with TouchFlo.
But honestly, I doubt that one exists. I do not have a Touch Diamond but I guess that there is more interaction between touchflo and the default WM applications than just opening it (e.g. with contacts and calls etc.). Therefore it is unlikely that TouchFlo will work properly with PI or AgendaOne right out of the box if those applications are not adjusted to work with each other...
I really hope it will be possible to make those applications work with TouchFlo. I am a huge fan of PI, and I would like to see TouchFlo launching the different PI-views right from its UI.
I think you are just guessing there then Jorlin because it was ok to change it via the registry on the Touch Cruise

Yes, only guessing... ^^) - therefore I hope that there is a registry entry for that. And that's why I suggested to look for one

Add a New "My Places" Tab

How would I go about adding a new tab to TFL3D Like Telstra have done here. I have only seen the images and not the actual thing. So I am not sure how it works. But it looks pretty much like the Programs Tab, but using shortcuts to their branded web content instead of apps. I want to use it to set up various "3" Network shortcuts I use. Tried just duplicating the \manila\programfiles keys in the registry but no luck. I know - I am being naive Any suggestions on how to go about this.
Looks like this actually "IS" the Programs Tab only renamed to "my places"
Could be - but I am not convinced. It might also be a new tab. Will not know until Telstra release the phone I guess. Either way the tab has been renamed and moved from the stock position. I can see how to do the move part with Diamond TF3D config but the rename - dunno how they did that.

Weather adding city TF3D

Hello,
Having severe issues in adding a city for TF3D's weather tab, tried using Falke's weatherdatabaseeditor 1.1, 1.1 modified and 1.2 (1.1 and 1.1 modified enables you to edit the database but causes TF3D to restart everytime you try to select weather tab, 1.2 says database is write protected). Also tried Joe's HTC Weather Database editor 1.3 and 2.2 rhodium, 1.3 allows for full editing and 2.2 allows me to just edit accu weather codes but both of them cause weather tab to make TF3D reload constantly!!
I have tried these in various soft resets and TF3D enabled and dissabled for the last 3 weeks on Valkyrie Firestorm, WCX series and ITJE's v12 ROM's but all do exactly the same. Slowly driving me away from most of the ROMs even though I really like TF3D and making me want to use plain ole' 6.5 because all I want is the weather where I live, it is driving me up the wall!
Any light anyone could shed would be greatly appreciated especially as I feel like a complete novice even though I have been able to setup/install everything else for my phone including making TomTom maps work with speed cameras which apparently is difficult!
Kindest Regards,
Jase E
P.S. sorry for the mini-rant, just winding up a touch!
Take a look at this thread.
Basically copy over the mentioned *.manila file to your pc, edit it as described with
sqlite, copy it back on your device, change one Registry key (the one that redirects the
weather URL) and you're done.
But one tip: the city examples are for old manila, to get it working you need to add
for example ",60,110" to the entry you want to add to the database, just have a look
at the output.
Good luck.
Thanks for the quick reply,
That looks fun, will try it when I finish my night shift,
Regards,
Jase
