Hello everyone,
having read the Kaiser wiki fairly extensively, I still haven't been able to find the answer to the most important question I had about it.
I recently purchased a v1615 (Vodafone branded Tilt) and the geek inside of me is burning to install a new rom onto it as the one that came with it sucks bad.
Would anybody be able to suggest which are the most popular (i.e best for most common usage) roms out there at the moment?
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give me.

The original rom in my tilt was very slow. I flashed my kaiser with one of Dutty's roms and its now much faster and already has most of the software I need already installed.

I like Duttys but Slueth has been the best for me so far.

I already have had a bit of a look around the forums now all I need to do is figure out which roms are where and then I'll start trying stuff out... thanks guys
Edit: Also, I have never actually flashed a smartphone before, I bow to those of you who have been in the "business" for a while, but me thinks I might need a bit more time to learn... the thing is, what sort of chance do you think there is that the whole process will drive me crazy? Seems a lil complicated, but doable so far. Just need to understand what all the various different things are for. (I.e. why radios aren't included in roms, and what they are actually for ..yaeh, im THAT noobish).

Welcome to the flashing club lol.
There is no "best" rom , just find the one that you think is "best" for you.
Yea, the Wiki and Faq here is very noob friendly. I started up as a new ppc user , but It has been so smooth. Most of the flashing trouble can be recover , as long as you dont mess with advance stuff like MTTY .
Try Dutty rom , they are very popular and updated frequently.
make sure you have hard SPL before flashing.
Peeps here are very friendly , as long as you read and research before any question.

Help please

I have a new HTC Kaiser, just come from a N95 8GB and have to use the Kaiser as my corporate phone. I am having real trouble as it locks up and freezes ... can't click the start button, texts dont open etc etc button presses take ages to register. Other times it is really fast... (I dont have lots of apps open) This is an unbranded , unlocked unit so I dont know why I am having all this trouble as I have installed nothing onto it.
What should I do ... It does seem to be a software thing, the device firmware is cd os 5.1.1620 (18215.0.4.2).
I just want it to be fast and responsive and work well as a phone... I hope i am not asking to much
Any suggestions would be welcome, I had a look at all the firmwares, but not sure where to start.

flash a new rom and see how it is?

that was my point, there a lot of roms to choose from ... What would you suggest....

dutty dutty dutty.. from my personal experience duttys are the ones with the most features and really speedy as well.. but try different ones out and see which one works for you

i would suggest a hard reset and see if that solves ur problem.
the rom i have in my sig is very fast and responsive.

L26! L26! L26! I enjoy his ROMs throughly. You will notice that everyone has his or her own opinion. And once you get the Bite on one, you'll want to keep trying.

Please forgive my ignorance but I dont have a clue what you guys are talking about... I originally was looking to see if there was a firmware upgrade for the Tytn 2 since Nov last year?
Upon stumbling on this thread I am very interested to know more... Is there a dummy's guide to doing what you describe above?

Has anyone purchased a new housing kit for their Kaiser/tilt who may be able to provide a do-it-yourself instructions to do so?.. if so.. please link me some reliable instructions so that i get it right the first time

where at? are you talking about the actual device or a page that shows things in detail?

The one that shows you with pictures how to take the phone apart.

Gamergee: Generally, most guys out here just plain hate newbies. I guess they were born with a kaiser already stuck in their butt and rather waste their time posting useless teasing crap instead of helping out or pointing the newbie into the right direction.

More like we worked for the knowledge and rarely had someone hold our hands through learning.

So just because you had it hard so lets make it hard for the newbies. That doesn't work for me. I appreaciate the Wiki feature but it isn't the answer to all things or this forum would be dead quiet.
This isn't personal. This thread has 4 posts and 70 views. What does that tell us? In my view it means:
20 newbies looked into it because of similar doubts hoping to find an answer that didn't come thru.
20 senior members looked into it and gave a crap about this newbie and didn't even bother to answer
20 variate members just browsed through it without any particular interest or knowledge to answer
the remaining 10 views are probably you, me and Gamergee
Something is wrong here.

Where did you buy the case for tytnII, and how much is it? I have to replace mind too.

I just feel like the main rules to this forum should be followed, just as most senior folks have done. At least when I tell you that you didn't search I know the answer is out there.

rom flashing service

does anyone know someone who does a rom flashing service i just cant seem to get to grips with it and have 2 kaisers i would like done

In my opinion, anyone that actually answers this and says 'Yes, I'll charge you $$$XXX for flashing the phone' is doing a disservice to the ROM developer, as they're the ones spending countless hours providing excellent alternatives to stock--whereas the person flashing would be making a profit off of, what, 30 minutes worth of work?.....
Be patient, read the wiki, there are lots of threads that tell you step by step how to flash a phone. Virtually impossible to brick one, and most important of all, you can make a donation to the person that matters, the ROM developer.
And besides, Flashing is fun!!!! You go to people one day and say "LOOK AT THIS!!!", and they'll roll their eyes...then you'll go to the same people the next day and say "NOW LOOK AT THIS!!!!"--and then they'll roll their eyes, this time impressed at your money metal flashing skillz...

sorry but i do not have the resources to do this i have spent hours already and i msuffer from depressive illnesses so i have very few reserve for this kined of thing as well as my wife four kids and everything else the world throws at us.
some of us need the help of those who have gone before to show us the way,
so please if someone could help me so that i can have a rom flashed phone i would be very grateful, if they want to do it free of charge i will send the phones myself i dont care just need some help

Make sure that it is someone who is thrustworthy, it would be a shame if you'd send it to the wrong person.

Follow this directions and in 20-30minutes and download all the files, you'll be flashing rom on TYTN II in no time. I would personally start with Hyperdragon'sIII or L26...'cuz they made even for starters like me. Give it a try... and then explore other GREAT roms. Why would you pay something when you can do it yourself?

Rhodium HardSPL - News and Updates

First I'd like to mention that I am grateful for all the developers on XDA working on these phones. I'm no programmer but I know plenty who are in all fields so I can appreciate what you are all doing.
I just wanted to create this thread to see how close we are to getting our hands on the HardSPL for Rhodium and any updates on development.
I've had my Touch Pro 2 for about a week and half now and already bored with it. The phone itself is great, but Windows Mobile 6.1 seriously sucks.
I really want to start using Windows Mobile 6.5, which brings me to why I created this post.
If anyone can shed some light on this I'd appreciate it.

Olipro and cmonex are still searching for mobile devices with hynix memory to test some stuff.
In short, don't expect anything soon and have patience

hmm this thread will be good for the usual "hardspl waititing posts".. when release comes, we (olinex) will just create the real hspl thread, so mods will not have to clean up for release (like for topaz they had to).
as to why this flash type checking is so important: on topaz the hynix ones really just got lucky by not getting their mfg partition corrupt. (no one got it corrupt but as i said that was luck) i want to avoid any such problems on rhodium.

Does this mean there is a feasible solution for Samsung based units ?
I am surprised that it makes a difference based on the fact HTC wont have made a separate spl for hynix based units. and rom upgrades will contain the same info...
can hard spl for samsungs be realeased with a link to the tutorial on how to ensure you have samsung?
darides tutorial suggests most people seem to have samsung anyway.
infact has ther been a hynix unit seen in the wild?

Perhaps Olinex can make a version for samsung that checks on the sspl that the memory is samsung or not. to avoid bricks or other problems.
I have not seen or know anyone with hynix memory on their tp2 after checking about 5 different units from my friends and family they are all samsung. My vodafone one is samsung too.

Can we please have an ETA / timeline for the release of the HardSPL for our HTC Rhodium.
I hate my Vodafone UK branded HTC Touch Pro 2. It is red and so am I with anger. Joking aside I love HTC standard ROM's. The last one I put on my HTC Touch Pro was amazing.

If you want to flash the HTC Shipped ROM, look out for the Goldcard methods. I'm not going into detail here because it's off topic and well documented else where. If all else fails cmonex normally helps via PM.

I can totally understand people begging for this. I nervously waiting for it to, but not to install custom ROMs. I'm waiting for it to get blackberry connect running. To achieve that I need to manipulate the device ID in the ROM itself, to fool RIM, let them think it's running on a proper device. But to flash this manipulated ROM I need HSPL (or does someone know a way to manipulate the device ID (HTC-Rhodium) in another way?).
However, asking and begging does not help or make stuff easier or getting it done faster. We all need to be brave and patient and wait a bit and let olipro and cmonex get this stuff done.

Sorry to go a bit OT here but I am interested in your info about Blackberry Connect. I have just come to the TP2 from a Storm and one thing that is lagging behind with the TP2 IMO is the push email, would the 'updated' ROM you are proposing allow me to use the pushmail service from BB ?

Have you tried to change your AKU?
If NO you can change this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/Versions/Aku
and put this:
.1.4.3
