Thanks a lot.
What a the big changes between .36 and the newest one? I could never get the newer one to work on my kaiser either but I am trying to obtain a FUZE soon.
Found this post searching even more. I did not see too much differences but this may help out others.
"Hello there everyone! I am sure you all are quite a big user of Hotmail and MSN services on your Nokia, Motorola or LG phones or any other PDA devices right? I know I use MSN messenger everyday to keep in touch with my friends and families on the go from my mobile. Microsoft Hotmail charges some extra bucks for push mail services which Google doesn’t but I am just so accustomed to using Hotmail, I just had to find a work around. And good news is that I actually did. Just discovered the latest version of MSN Mobile Messenger with free push Hotmail support, the local search, and the live search have been released.
In this latest version the messenger interface have been enhanced even more, you can do conference chat on the go and even chat in five different friends in five different windows at a time from your mobile phone or PDA. Hotmail have been integrated which actually simply configures itself once you give the email address and the password for your account. Additionally beside all these, you have exclusive online access to password protected parts of the Windows Live Spaces, online file storage and what not. Think of it, if you are an windows live spaces blogger or webmaster, this is a dream kit for you. If you are not, well still then it is a dream kit for you cause the messenger interface is far more superior than anything else out there in the mobile applications market.
With the latest Push version of this MSN Mobile Hotmail, you can be sure that you will never miss another mail due to access problems. It even has the auto complete feature enabled so that when you want to mail someone and you forget their email address, you can still email them by just typing what you remember about that person, let it be their email name or address. The coolest part of it is that you don’t even have to scroll to find the mail. The Microsoft Windows Live spaces feature lets you upload photos from your mobile phone on the go, believe that? Now you can blog on Live spaces even if you are not in front of your desktop. If you are lost in the road you can simply open up the Local Search option and find the detailed address by looking into the map feature, you can even pan, scan and zoom at the same time which will also show you the dynamic weather report just like you see in the desktop version of MSN Local Search. As in the laptop or desktop, you can also save those specific maps/points on your MMC or phone memory to retrieve and view later without incurring GPRS or 3G cost.
MSN mobile lets you view stock quotes, weather conditions, latest happening news from all around the globe and also lets you browse the latest in Entertainment as in movies, celebrity gossips etc. You can seek up phone numbers of anyone you know, or get the latest tips on Tax and other financial stuff all on the go. This is particularly very useful if you are a businessman and need to keep up with the current market and situations even when you are out of your workstation. All unlocked version of Att or Atnt, tmobile or sometimes known as t-mobile, verizon wireless, Sprint and Cingular prepaid and postpaid subscribers can also enjoy these information and services to the fullest from their smartphones or pda. The nifty MSN messenger feature also lets you see and set your own status message, add or delete contacts, appear offline etc just like you do on the PC. You also have the integrated Live search and if you have signed up with the SMS text features of MSN then you can also access and use that."
Not sure if this version does it or not, but I would LOVE for it to sync my profile pictures that I save for contacts.
I've used Windows Live for a while now, and I use it to sync my contacts and email, but its a PITA to reassign my profile pictures everytime I hard reset or flash a new ROM. That was one of the things I liked about Exchange.
Another feature on my wish list would be to sync my calendar/tasks.
If they did those two things, then I think it would be almost as powerful as an Exchange server...for free!
thanks for this unfortunately i still can't send or receive files through it.
Hi Da_G,
I downloaded your cab earlier and just installed it but nothing happens when i click the "windows messenger" icon. I have done soft resets too but it does not work. I have installed it in storage card.
Thanks
try installing it on the device, i haven't heard of it being installed on the storage card and properly working
Not sure if his version is different, but I've read where this version doesn't actually have messenger.
As stated in the title, and visible in the screenshot, this version is with messenger.

Thanks, I'll be installing this in just a bit
i just installed and tried sending/recieving files, works like a charm over here
Updated first post, 10.6.46.800

Evening all,
I've written an email spoofer for Windows Mobile as I couldn't find one on here and there's nothing more fun than winding your mates up. It works via WIFI and all you have to know is your ISPs SMTP address, in most cases you've already entered this in Outlook. Suggested List Here Mine is SMTP.ntlworld.com as my isp is virgin media.
I didn't want to go down the route of the mobile providers SMTP address as it's tracable, with this, if you're not on your WIFI, it's not tracable, but I wouldn't recommend doing anything naughty as it's not worth the risk... just keep it to your mates!!
Run the CAB file on your phone, it'll create a FakeMail folder in the root of your device and away you go!! Get ordering your mates the latest 'bottom toys' from SexShop.com!!!
To add text to a 'combobox', type it in the 'text input' box, then click the '+' button for the one you want to put it in. No ... I don't know how to use comboboxes in Windows Mobile!!
You can also edit the txt files that record everything found in the FakeMail directory.
Cheers
phil

Windows Vista / XP Version... Now with added SMTP server authentication!!
Now with added SMTP server authentication!!
I've ported it to Vista and XP because I couldn't for the life of me find one that worked on Vista anywhere on the web .... obviously the Vista version will only work on a PC and the original FakeMail CAB will only work on Windows Mobile, Everything works the same with text files being created in the applications directory to store previous email addresses / settings.
If you're running Norton Internet Security you may need to turn off 'outgoing email scanning' the pointless waste of time that it is.
Almost forgot ... to attach a picture all you have to press is the '+' button.
Looks like fun, gonna try it out. Will let you know how it works!
Cheers!!
It's only the initial release ... next versions going to incorporate a WIFI sniffer so it'll alert you when you're near a open WIFI point.
I've lost the will to live ......
Can anyone help? Sending the email via WIFI's easy, there loads of help on the web which explains just how to program an application to do it.
The question I have is why an app that works via wifi, wont work via umts??? Can anyone point me to a code example that'll help ... I'm looking for sending email via UMTS.
My TyTN Outlook works fine sending / recieving on both UMTS or WIFI ... the source code would be nice!!
Cheers
Phil
what is this program i dont understand what it does exactly
thanks in advance
You can easily write emails to your mates and it'll look like it's come from anyones email address you like.
All this without the hassle of setting up accounts etc ...
Do any of the c# programmers on here know how to get emails working over the phone and not WIFI?
I'm not taking about sending via the account you've set up on the phone in Outlook because I still want to spoof the email address... I spent 6 hours researching it on the web today and apparently you can only send via GSM/UMTS if you send your email via a valid, already defined Outlook account which then means you've lost the ability to spoof the from address.
It should work without the need for wifi shouldn't it? I mean after some modifications obviously.
I remember about 4-5 years ago here in the UK you could sent e-mails from your mobile just as you would normally, BUT in the field "from" you could write ANY e-mail address and it would work just fine! Also it was absolutely free(incl. sending pictures n videos via email). Lasted for months. Mobile operator "3".
You would have thought so but I spent 6 hours researching it but it seems that you cant use the normal method which is easy but establish a connection via UMTS/GSM and then do the sending.
I'll have a look again in a few months.
Here's another list of SMTP servers if you're having problems finding your own.

I've tried to send myself an e-mail today using this program, but I get "sending failed" or smth like that. My internet provider is o2 broadband and their smtp is "smtp.o2.co.uk" if I googled it right. Changing smtp to any other results in the program crash. What am I doing wrong?

Phil, are you still looking to develop this application? Maybe you can add CC to the adress... So when you sent the message you can send it to more than one person and you can CC the second one.
Thnx

Tried this - still says "Email Failed". Is it something to do with my provider?
yeah it doesn't work for me either, i tried gmail, yahoo, hotmail, and optonline smtp servers, i have accounts with all of them and none worked for me
You can't use gmail/hotmail or alike to send what is basically SPAM .. the network boys lock their servers down so you need to login before you can do anything.
You need to use the SMTP server of the Wifi network you're connected to...
My broadband supplier is ntlworld .... so I use "smtp.ntlworld.com" ... If I use my nieghbours WIFI which is TalkTalk I would use "smtp.talktalk.net" .. if I tried to send via "smtp.ntlworld.com" it wouldn't work. Simple.
Is there Microsoft exchange in native on HTC magic Vodafone ?
You could try Moxier Mail though it only supports email, no contact or calender syncing yet.

it's a big mistake to not introduce the MS Exchange on Android in native ....
try this one

works fine for me
I pre-ordered a magic in Taiwan. According the announced test report. Exchange is included in Taiwan version. Yet, I am not sure if it works to your expections. You could see the screenshot

Check the official statement of Eric Lin(HTC):
"The Magic being sold in most of Asia is not a Google experience phone so we have started to put some of the HTC special sauce into Android. That Magic has Exchange support, a much more responsive and full featured camera application, a custom dialer application with smart dial and additional widgets as well."
http://androidguys.com/?p=5129
OK, so we wont have it natively.
What do people prefer TouchDown or RoadSync?
Surely someone will come along and write a free one soon......
Maybe someone will dump the org. HTC Magic rom....Haykuro?
Ive only been testing this device for our company for a few days. Its a fantastic device and i cannot see what the iPhone has over it. Its only drawback as a business tool is that it does not natively support Exchange and office documents. I know you can buy such apps but for an IT dept to support these devices, things like this should be out of the box.
/Jon
I agree. I purchased a Vodafone AU Magic. I initially downloaded a trial of Touchdown for Exchange. Great application worked first go but not worth the $25 they asked for.
Finally I tracked down an HTC Magic original ROM in which native Exchange support is there (and works) but Bluetooth doesn't work.
I would like HTC to release a ROM which supports all Magic hardware versions, native, Exchange support and where everything works! As a customer I should be able to choose which ROM I would like to run with.
Having said that, some of the Vodafone customisations are really cool... keyboard, dialer etc.

I've been using RoadSync - is free and works pretty well (for email only) apart from sometimes I have to sync twice to receive all of my messages.
Can i use it as a regular e-mail app like for gmail, hotmail, or yahoo??? Im wondering if its posible and if it is is good cause all other apps ive tried suck big time. thanks
What??? It has an exchange app.
The MyTouch has a MS Exchange app. My fiance' and I both have a MyTouch with the stock 1.6 and it's there. It's called "work email." My fiance' uses it for her work exchange email and it works perfectly with no issues.
imo Touchdown is the only real exchange client available with Full exchange support. Works perfectly, worth every penny if you want compete exchange functionality.
NitroDesk's Touchdown is a solid app that has full exchange support including GAL look up, mail, calendar, tasks, and reminders.
Touchdown also supports alerting on multiple folders under your in-box where most only alert for new mail in your in-box only. For me I have many rules running that move mail around for organizational purposes which touchdown handles great. Also provides the option to view individual folders or similar to blackberry's, view all folders as one in box on the phone.
Another feature not found in other exchange clients is support for all Exchange OMA security features. We have polices on our Exchange server that require a PIN to be created and used to access mail. If the PIN is entered incorrectly to many times it wipes the mail off the device. The bundled mail app with the T-mo MyTouch does not support Exchange security policy's.
I say touch down is worth every penny if you are a heavy mail user used to the blackberry.
Exchange ROM Yes/No!
hi guys, thanx for info's, but what does it mean for me, that there is now no other way to run an exchange client on my vodafone magic, so i have to buy a third party product, or does it make sense to wait for a ROM.
thanxs
atm you can use for full ActiveSync support the "The Official Rogers" which you can find in the HTC Dream Developers Area. Works fine.
Thanxs
ok thanxs for info, i'll try out, or hope to find it. i don't understand why vodafone in austria this feature disabled nerver mind

HTC Exchange ActiveSync implementation in DarchDroid 2.7 Kangslayer, is it possible?
The following is a plea for help with a problem that I have searched high and low for an answer and have come up dry.
First I want to say how much I LOVE this ROM. IMO, this is everything the Android Experience was meant to be. Although I can understand what some people see in the “skins” provided with HTC Sense, this look and feel comes at a cost of performance. Only Darchstar has provided a fully functional and working AOSP ROM for the HTC Hero and I can’t see going backwards to stock or any other Sense based ROM. To Darchstar, THANK YOU SIR!
Although I have decided to utilize the ROM full time, this comes at a large price, in my case, a cost of productivity to my day job. Currently with this ROM I am unable to access the Exchange account my company utilizes. In short, the configuration of the account is beyond my control and I am limited to work within the environment that is provided.
The Problem:
The default AOSP “Corporate” account setup does not play with my company’s deployment of Exchange. Although many of the solutions I have found kept me hoping for an answer, all of come up short. Apps like TouchDown seem very promising, but just don’t handle the implementation of ActiveSync my company provides. Although, I really couldn’t tell you why, the problem could stem from the way the AOSP version identifies itself to the server, the way it handles Security Certificates, etc.
To date, I have found only ONE functional option of accessing my Exchange account consisting of Email, Calendar, and Contacts (if I so chose). That option is the one provided within HTCs stock software for the phone. Although many posts have complained how inadequate HTCs deployment and use of the ActiveSync protocol is, for some reason it works very well for my situation.
To anyone who's still confused, the following images may be the easiest way to explain what I'm trying to achieve...
HTC Sense Implementation
WORKS VERY WELL

AOSP "Corporate" Implementation
THIS, NOT SO MUCH (NOT AT ALL)
My Request (see: Plea)
I want to know if its possible to implement the individual element(s) of the Exchange Activesync deployment within the HTC Version into AOSP. Is it a simple APK problem or is it a larger combination of challenges?
I ask for anyone who may have come across this problem or something similar to post a reply and point me in the right direction. I have already made the decision to stay with the FULL AOSP that only Darchstar has provided via 2.7, I love it and just can’t go back. Please, if you can help, if you think you have a solution, I am all eyes!
To anyone who responds, I thank you in advance!
I'll add my interest in finding this out too. Not as much from needing it to radically change, but just from the sense of wanting to add the ability to do calendar sync, that's an important enough piece of the puzzle that I'd like to make it work.
P.S. - I know about Google Calendar Sync, but a push option is always better.
I'm no expert by any means, but I have my Exchange Email working perfectly through DD 2.7. AOSP 2.1 does not support syncing calendars, but you should be able to sync email and contacts. For Calendar I use Google Calendar Sync to sync my Exchange calendar to my Google Calendar and it works like a charm.
Can you provide more information on the limitations of your Exchange server setup? Has your administrator been able to communicate the issues surrounding your inability to connect?
Also, you may want to try the Froyo ROM Darch is working on. It implements new Exchange functionality and calendar sync is available. At the least, if you don't want to mess with an Alpha ROM you can have hope in waiting for a final Froyo build.
The exchange in darch works fine for my accounts. It is a little awkward at first. Domain and user name are in the same box separated by a / Otherwise every other box in HTC is in AOSP. It may be easier to set up the account through the mail app. Hope this helps.

Agreed. For me, the only thing that was different in setting up mail on AOSP was that the Domain\Username was on the same line. You have to enter domain.com\Username for whatever domain you're on and your username. Seems kind of trivial and I'm assuming you already knew that, but just in case...
I am in the same boat as OP. Exchange works with sense but not with dd2.7.
The error I get is "This Exchange ActiveSync server requires security features your phone does not support".
I installed touchdown and that seems to work ok. I would like to have the native solution (integration with calendar etc).

To my knowledge, this is a server side issue. Out of curiosity you may want to run the test at this site and see what it shows:

The server setup and provided by my company "is what it is" in the sense that I have no way of requesting a change or any kind of configuration information as all of this is being done "under the radar". My company does not officially support Android devices, but that is not to say that they wouldn't allow it if it worked without any interaction on their part.
I have high hopes for the Froyo implementation and the possibility that it will resolve the current problem, but I really don't know how far out that may be.

Setting up the account through the mail app has had the same result as going through Accounts & Sync --> Add Account --> Corporate
Also I have tried every combination of Domain\User (Domain\User, Domain/User, \User, /User) with no luck. It appears to be a problem with the way AOSP handles and communicates with a server, thus the wider variety of problems people encounter.

Even Touchdown doesn't work for me, I have also tried to import the Security Certificate provided by my company for the Windows Mobile phones with no luck. One interesting tidbit is the fact that the HTC ActiveSync implementation is getting around the need for a Certificate.

https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/ Has provided me a little more detail around how the server is communicating with the Device, but more than anything it just leads me to better support the notion that AOSP doesn't support more complex ActiveSync configurations.
Once again, thanks for all the replies so far. I look forward to continued dialog in the hopes we can reach a solution!
Do a search for CorCal.apk, that might fix some of the issues you are having, plus it comes with a pretty decent widget. If you have issues with it, PM me.
This has to do with device encryption. I too would love to see some sort of apk available to add manually instead of my only choices being applying a Sense UI ROM to my N1.

Does anyone know if it's possible to have multiple contact lists?
I know that you can categorize your phone entries into different categories.
Work, Personal etc etc.
This is *NOT* what I am looking for.
I would like to have completely separate contact lists/files.
Is it possible and if so how would you do this?
TIA

Thanks, but it's not quite what I'm looking for.
Yes you can create numerous e-mail accounts (Google etc.) and have contacts in each of them, but there is still ONLY ONE Phone contact list to display.
I'm looking for multiple 'Phone' contact lists.
when you go into Display Options you will see:
-Phone
-Google (e-mail1)
-Google (e-mail2)
- etc.
Only ONE Phone list.
So again, is it possible to have multiple Phone contact lists, and if so how would you set it up?
I wouldn't mind even being able to rename the default Phone list and then opening up a second, if it were possible.
TIA
it works even with Yahoo and Hotmail accounts
each of your email address will be able to hold its own contact list for both phone, emails, etc
i have 5 hotmails accounts each with its own set of contact numbers/email address
3 from yahoo, and 12+ from google
so it's very easy to keep work stuff in 1 account, personal stuff on 2nd account, private stuff on 3rd account, family stuff on 4th account, Girlfriend #1 contacts on 5th account, Girlfriend #2 contacts on 6th account, Wife contacts on 7th account, another wife on 8th account, your secrect admirers on 9th account, your buddies on 10th account, you rich uncle jorge that owns an island in the caribe with 10 wife private jet and yatch that secretly spare you a million dollar on the side and all his not so clean business partners on 11th account, your lawyers and attornesy contacts on 12th account....
you get the idea
inside the SGS phone they all seem perfectly fine and normal as one huge list, but when you look in details, each number/email is associated with your specified email contact list from any of Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail
it's that easy, i love this phone, it's just perfect for multi account managements

I hear what you're saying...

inside the SGS phone they all seem perfectly fine and normal as one huge list, but when you look in details, each number/email is associated with your specified email contact list from any of Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail

But there's the rub!
One huge list.
I don't want a huge list, EVEN if it can later be VIEWED in different ways.
I want a list in one separate file, that can't be accessed unless you load up that particular file.
Can it be done?
TIA

it might be possible with some Contact Management app, but not with the build in Contact app that came with the phone
there's the category option, which you don't want
and there is always the filter by option
the search option is very natural as well, just type what you think it's the name or number, and it comes up right away
even though my contact list is huge, i've never had trouble finding quickly (less than 5 sec) the contact info i needed

Thanks. Can you please explain a bit more about this option?
I can't seem to find it. Is it a flexible filter? Many options to filter by?
The only thing I see at the moment is filter by whether the contacts have a phone number or not.
Can you filter by whether or not the contacts have a note saying "Green shirt"?
I'm trying how to figure out how I can permanently log out of Google Chat (not appear idle) or at least have the option to stay invisible. Ever since I upgraded to the Moto X, I get the following notification on the left bar of my gmail:
"Oops! You are not invisible because you're logged into Google Talk from another client, device, or location that doesn't support invisibility."
Previous suggestions (with other android phones) has shown that I can simply disable the 'Talk' app. However, that particular app does not appear on the Moto X. I've also tried disabling the 'Hangouts' app, yet I still appear idle even when I sign out.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Do you have GMail open on a desktop or Google+? You might be showing idle since you'd be logged in on your browser then.
Even when I'm logged out on my desktop, I still appear idle (yellow) on a colleagues computer. I guess my bigger issue is that prior to getting the Moto X - I never had to log out, as I could stay invisible.
Perhaps, I'll try to disable Google+ as well.
On my GMail, for chat if I click on my username there is a "Sign Out of Hangouts" option. You may need to do that in GMail and on Google+ to be actually offline.

I've been having the same issue. I've tried disabling Google Hangout and signing out of google. I can't seem to find a solution for this either. Let me know if you have found a solution.
I may just have to reset my phone and sign out for a new google account. If any body has a smarter solution please do let us know
Same issue

[Fixed] The ‘always online’ problem with Google Chat
In short, this is the problem: You try to go invisible in chat from your gmail and it says: “Oops! You are not invisible because you’re logged into Google Talk from another client, device, or location that doesn’t support invisibility.” No matter what you do – from signing out of all the devices/clients/locations to resetting your google account password, you STILL see the ‘oops’!
Frustrating. To the core!
Turns out that there are a number of reasons why your chat suddenly behaves this way. But the main point is that there is another (or are many other) session(s) of your chat active at that particular time. This spooky session(s) might be from a talk app on your mobile phone, the Hangout app, stand-alone Gtalk software, IM clients such as eBuddy, Trillian, etc. The idea is to end those invisible session(s), but you have no idea where that session is, right?
Don’t worry, there is a way to find that and it takes as much time as it will take you to download around 9Mb.
So, here are the steps:
1. Go ahead download pidgin, a third-party IM client and install it. We will use this client find out and force sign-out those ‘ghosts’ of your Gtalk!
2. Run the program after you install it. You will be asked to ‘Add‘ an account. Click it and select Google Talk from the drop-down menu and enter your gmail credentials. See the pic below:

Sign-in with your gmail credentials
Sign-in with your gmail credentials
3. A successful sign-in will take you to the client and you will be able to see your contact list (called as Buddy list in pidgin)
4. Click on ‘Buddies‘ and select ‘Get user info‘ or you can just press Ctrl+I. This will give you a pop-up window as shown below. Type your gmail address in it and click OK.
Enter your Gmail id
5. Wait for sometime while it fetches the information for you. Once it is done, you should see a window like the one below:
Enter your gmail id
As you can see, this account has currently got 3 active session running (including the one from pidgin). Note the IDs given for the “Resource” entry. Copy the whole content into a notepad/word file. All these IDs indicate a specific device/client in which google talk is active.
6. Now Close this window. Click ‘Manage Accounts‘ and then select your account and delete it.
7. Now, repeat the ‘add account‘ process given in step 2. This time in addition to your gmail user name and password, give the ‘resource id‘ in the ‘Resource‘ section. Sign-in
8. Now, once you are in the main window of the application, set your status as ‘Offline’. Sign into gmail and try to set your status as invisible. If you are not getting the ‘oops…’ message, then you have done it! If you are sill getting it,then follow the above step with the other resource ids that you have seen (which you should have copied into the notepad/word file). Try them one-by-one till you are able to set your status as invisible in gmail chat.
That should do it!
Thanks to Keith for this helpful suggestion.

This worked only temporarily for me. Is there a way to trace back the "Resource" to see where it comes from and delete it altogeher?

Did you try to delete the account from pidgin after figuring out the resource id that was being used? Once you log into pidgin with your resource id, go offline and close the app but do not delete the account from pidgin itself. This way, the resource id is locked in use by pidgin and it has forced an offline state for that session. The moment you delete the account, the ghost session goes live again on some server.

MessagingB = iOS
In my case, I deleted the Hangouts app from my ipad without signing out.
