Which is the latest, greatest ROM???

Hi guys,
Been a while since I've been on here and it would seem there has been a whole load of ROM updates since I last updated my Vario.
It was originally a UK T-Mobile ROM, I CID unlocked and SIM unlocked it and updated to the latest I-Mate ROM.
Had a look in the FTP site and theres a whole selection of ROMs to choose from!
Just wondered if some kind soul could advise which is the best ROM to update to?
According to my phone, I currently have:
ROM version 2.16.9.1 WWE
ROM date : 2/6/06
Radio version : 02.07.10
Protocol version : 413.1.03
ExtROM version : 2.16.9.101
Its an I-Mate ROM currently, but I don't care which ROM I put on it, as long as its the latest stable version available.
Also, is there a 'clean' version of the latest ROM? ie no crap in the extended ROM.
Do I understand correctly that as I updated the ROM from an old AKU1 ROM, the CID unlock will still be in place or do I need to do the unlock trick again by following the post regarding unlocking AKU2 ROMs?

I know it sounds a newby question, but I have read and digested a lot of the info on this site and thanks to all you guys I upgraded my ROM form the standard UK T-Mobile image to the latest I-Mate image. But this was a while ago and it would seem things have moved on and I was just after a gentle prod in the right direction.
From what I've read, it would seem Molski's image is the fastest and most stable out there at the moment. Also i now know I have a G3 phone as the IPL/SPL is 2.16.
I'm still not sure what will happen when I try to flash a new ROM. I know i SIM and CID unlocked the phone for the first ROM update, but will that CID and SIM unlock still be in place to allow the upgrade to Molskis ROM image. I would rather not have a brick, if I can help it.
Also, does anyone have an opinion on Molski's latest ROM vs I-Mates 2.16?? Is it any quicker or am I upgrading for no benefit?
If no-one replies then I will carry on reading and searching for answers to my questions and I thank you all for doing what you do on here and hopefully there will be a thread somewhere that will help me out. If I do get an answer then I thank you for helping a not-so-new newbie down the road to Wizard nirvana. :lol:

I have a locked Tmobile MDA Vario with the latest tmobile firmware.
How do I unlock it?
and what is the best firmware to use?
I have used the search on here, but dont understand the firmware codes etc and dont want to risk flashing a wrong update.

To unlock the latest phones, from what I have read on here you need to use the latest Lockiwiz program, downgrade the ROM to a custom ROM, then CID and SIM unlock the phone, then you can upgrade to the ROM of your choice.
As for the best ROM out there, thats exactly what I'm trying to find out!!!!

ok I downloaded Lockiwiz 0.3a and it didn't give me the unlock code.
I wonder if this is because I have installed the latest tmobile firware.
anyway, it will have to stay locked for now. thanks for your help, sorry I cant help you.

for sim unlock download awizard or lokiwiz extract enablerapi.cab and copy it to your device.
then run it on the device and run lokiwiz or awizard on your pc.
worked for me
there is no need to downgrade your rom unless you have a particular situation and you just want tot do that.

Well thanks to everyone for all their kind words and help.......... :roll:
Anyway, I have upgraded my ROM to Molski's 2.26 and it is fantastic. The phone is so quick, and I haven't even overclocked it yet! Very impressive.
So a big shout out to Molski for cooking this ROM, and long may he continue making stable, fast, easy ROM executables.
And also a big shout out to everyone on here. I know I made a sarcastic comment at the beginning but I still managed to search and find everything I needed to know, it just took many, many hours of rooting through to find the answers to my questions. But without all you guys the answers wouldn't have been there anyway.
It has also propelled me into making a noobies guide to this sort of stuff, so keep your eyes open for that, all you guys that keep asking about the latest ROM and how to upgrade.
Thanks again and i will be asking some more questions soon, matbe just to see if I get any sort of reaction at all!!!

How to?

Alright, first thing first.. new for Att tilt 8925, what prog i need to SIM unlock for T-mo? After that, i need to custom rom, radio and GPS in. Is any recommend this noob? I went to Wiki but i bit confuse after read through those pages. I need quick and simply walk through guide.

Just follow this step by step for easy sim and cid unlock. Ask any questions in that thread and mskip will answer them for you. ( or some other knowledgeable persons )

Thanks for responds.. I able to get it sim/cid unlock and flash to cooked 6.5.. My next step is to install gps in my sd card like Tomtom or any gps run smooth under 6.5 wm. Please link me to tomtom or any gps cabs if possible. thz.

TomTom7 related information for the Kaiser have been removed from this forum because TomTom did not release their product for the Kaiser. However, you should be capable of finding TT6 in the forums or you can use google to find a TomTom Navigator 7 cab which works for qvga devices.

Several. Depends on what you want. First obvious choice is Google Maps Mobile. Simple, functional and user-friendly. Amaze GPS is another one I like for road nav, and GPSed is great for datalogging, especially until I fix the speedo in my truck.

Just a question (i'm sorry for the hijacking of the thread).
I had a HTC Touch Pro2 in Portuguese WM6.1 ROM. I had bought the QMAT to create a Goldcard to install the WWE ROM Signed. I want to copy the Portuguese ROM and then Install the new one. The reason is that If I need to send the Mobile to Warranty, exchange the WWE to the PT. It's possible? If yes how?

you will need HSPL to flash PT rom back unless you find a shipped PT rom

Thank you for your anwser Miss. So basically I just have to wait to get the WM6.5 since the PRO2 had the free update for the new firmware. After that I get the WWE PT ROM Signed (free from the HTC update site) as a backup. Also I get that QMAT only had 5 creations of GoldCards. So lets do some math:
Change my PT ROM to WWE ROM - 1 Goldcard;
Change my Girlfriend ROM to WWE - 1 Goldcard;
For instance both of our mobile get damaged - 2 Goldcards (one for each);
Return from service - 2 more Goldcards.
Well I get 1 missing. I presume that I need to buy another license to get more 5 Goldcards right?

My friend I'm sorry but no. Reason - you have only 2 posts so I see that you simply get here to get the GoldCard and flash your HTC. No contribution right? No tip to you. Also I do not get unlimited licences to Goldcards (see upper writting) and have to keep them for further problems.
Sorry beeing rude, but as you see I get here as NEW user, and bought the tool for the porpouse I want. You do not had seen me asking for a Goldcard to anyone.

Getting rid of Branding...

Hi Guys,
i am completely new to this, so i could use a little help here...
I already looked up my chip (its a samsung) to help out for the HSPL, and i informed myself about the possibilities...
But i still got one big question...
Is there a way to flash a normal HTC ROM on my T-Mobile branded TP2 without using HSPL? Should i use Goldcard, and if yes, can anyone link me a good tutorial or how - to for it?
Because its anoying that you can't install skype oder any messengers and so on...
I would also upload my German T-Mobile ROM, if anyone would tell me how to backup it...

A ROM-Dump isn't really practicable because of missing HardSPL!
To get a GoldCard send cmonex a PM with the question for helping you! Got mine yesterday and the Stock HTC ROM isn't as good as my o2 Stock ROM!
BTW:
It's necessary to spend some money to cmonex for getting this little mod! But with her way of GoldCard, you can flash any Stock ROM straight from your PC to your TP2! And you will help developing HardSPL!

I hope its at least better than my stock T-Mobile, cause it really sucks and i don't get updates at all, so i still got buggy GPS and the + bug, which is really annoying...
But so far thx a lot for your help

I think it will be good for you to flash the o2 ROM as it has a huger amount of free memory and seems to be more stable than the HTC ROM, then flash Radio 3.46, which can be found here on XDA! For sure, after getting the GoldCard from cmonex/Olipro (),

I have learnt a lot from this forum. Now, i have a question.
Since my phone is unlocked, if i hard reset it, will it get locked again?
If it doesn't, i would like to flash a new ROM on my phone.
Can i flash good ROM like Energy on my phone.

Just to be on the safe side you may wish to pony up for the Hard-SPL program...As memory serves, unlocking the phone only allows for another carrier's SIM card to be used...
