Optimal Camera Tweaks and Settings - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hey everyone I just wanted to know if anyone has any optimal camera tweaks and settings. While my settings are better than they were with the ATT stock rom, i still want better. How come I cant zoom in 2MP or 3MP and only in 1MP or worse? Also what are the settings to take pictures without much light ( i know the kaiser doesnt have a flash)? Why does the camera still take a long time to take a picture despite me doing this registry hack and turning the camera sound off?
I personally did this>
wo DWORD values are in HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\Captparam. They are, CapKeyDelayTime and EnableCapKeyDelay.
To disable delay of picture being taken, change CapKeyDelayTime to 0 and EnableCapKeyDelay to 0.
CapKeyDelayTime is in milliseconds, so 2500 is 2.5 seconds. Change to your heart's content.
EnableCapKeyDelay is if you want to disable/enable the CapKeyDelayTime without changing its value. Disable/enable at your leisure.
Also of note is the CaptureTimer DWORD, which can be altered to increase or decrease the time the camera waits for timer pictures.

Speed Up Camera's Picture Taking Delay In Older ROMs

I know this has been covered before (somewhere), but I did a Google search and found nothing but my own post elsewhere. This has been made moot by most newer ROMs, which have this tweak or another built-in to speed up the camera.
I grew tired of having to wait 2.5 seconds or so for a picture to be taken with the Kaiser's camera, so I found the following regkeys and made the appropriate value changes:
Two DWORD values are in HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\Captparam.
For those who do not have a registry editor, here are some helpful links:
PHM Registry Editor (free), Total Commander (free file explorer w/ registry editor), Resco Explorer 2007 ($29.95, free registry add-on)
A great tip that. i just made the changes and it make the camera almost useable !!
Thanks
hey thanks for the tip, everyone should do this! put this in the wiki, lots of people will benefit from this. thanks alot!

I wanted to disable it and set the value to 0 and realized it has been already disabled, I am using Duttys rom.

CapKeyDelayTime is set to 1500 by default in Dutty's Apr 09 ROM.
EnableKeyDelay is set to 0 by default in Dutty's Apr 09 ROM.
Maybe these two changes are part of what the HTC patch does to make the camera more useable.
WOW! this helps alot!
Thanks!
Hi there, great improvement for me but do you know if it is possible to change the resolution for sports or burst mode to at least 2Mpx???

I’ve been looking for the same thing as my 2 year old niece will not stay still for long enough. I use sports mode but 640*480 is ok on the phone but it would be nice if it was 1600*1200 or similar so I can print them.
Thank you very much!
it works
Change EnableDateFolder from 0 to 1
Adds date and time stamp to photos AND creates a folder for each day. Great if you're taking many photos as you'll have date time etc when taken. Great for a trip or other similar photos!
Change SportSpeedFast , SportSpeedMed, and SportSpeedSlow to control your burst speeds. Time again is in m-sec, so 125 = .125 seconds.
Change DefBurstCount to the amount of pictures you can take in burst mode.

Yeah, as stated in the first post, most users of newer ROMs don't need to bother with this, as the chefs know what they're doing. The HTC patch doesn't touch these settings, though.
As for an increased size of Sports Mode picture taking, the P7 key under HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\ is the controller of the Sports Mode. I tried setting the size to the same as is under the main picture setting P1, 1024x1748 (see the MainCamCaptSize and MainCamSupportCaptSize), but the camera locked up without saving the first picture. I also tried 768x1024 without luck. Seems it might be a problem with the speed of encoding? I'm not sure.

Do you have the camera set to capture with half-press or full-press? I used to use full and my pictures would take 4-6 seconds to capture. With half-press, my camera snaps within 2 seconds.
Setting to half press and turning off shutter sound made a very big difference in lag time. Just be careful that without the shutter sound you still need to hold camera for a second after the focus locks (brackets turn green).
Changing these reg values made the camera even more responsive. Thanks!

You are right, its 2 second most of the time even if I am moving my hand, but still, I need an instant capture directly at button press..

Anyway to Disable or speed up the auto focus on camera?

This is an extremely annoying problem. It takes my pro about 4-5 seconds to auto adjust then another 1 or 2 secs to take the pic, by the time u actually get to take the pic you more than likely have move your hand. How can we disable or increase the reaction time of the auto focus for the camera?
bump
The delay to take a pic is a setting you can adjust with the advanced config or diamond tweak programs..
autofocus.. can't help there
Requires editing the .Exe, that is where the function resource is.

[Q] What are the best camera settings for low-light situations?

I'm coming from an LG G2, which had a great camera in low-light situations. I noticed a knock on some reviews for this camera in same situations, and I tried it out a bit and my pics look a little grainy. What are suggested settings for the camera? Thanks.

First, to remove the noise from your photos i suggest you to use the app 'A Better Camera' which has a good noise reduction process, once you downloaded it go in night mode, then go to 'other settings', then go to "shot mode settings", "night", "overnight processing", set noise reduction to maximum and shadow elimination to none, and tick the saturation check.
If you prefer Sony's camera use these settings in manual mode:
Exposure: one or two bars below value of 0
WB: auto
Resolution: 15,5 mpx
Focus mode: multiple autofocus (i think that's what it's called in english)
ISO: This is the most important setting. You can set it to 100 or even 50 to avoid noise and artifacts caused by heavy postprocessing by software. But, the lower the iso, darker the image will be. So on a sunny day it can be 50 od 100, On a cloudy day, a bit higher and in night photos 800.
Metering: multiple
Focusing: When you want to take photo, put object you want to take photo of in the middle and half press shutter button. When squares turn blue on places you want focused, keep shutter half pressed and you can then move your phone to left, right, up or down and not losing focus. That way you make your composition. When you think you have your scene set up, finally press the button all the way.
(i copied these text from the user Istic).

Set minimum shutter speed?

Hi everyone,
I just purchased a Nokia 7 plus and I can't find any way of setting a minimum shutter speed. If I go into pro mode and set shutter speed to 1/125 all my low light pics are great with no blur but obviously this will make bright daylight shots over exposed.
Is there a way to mod the software to keep everything the same but let me adjust the minumum shutter speed to 1/125? rather than fixed at 1/125
What would be perfect for me would be a setting at 1/125 minimum shutter speed and a slower speed for when using the flash to capture the background (Google - Dragging the shutter). but if not, i'd be happy if I could only have the minimum shutter speed.
I only use the camera for family pics and a lot of those are of my 2 year old boy. I don't really want to mess with settings too much because you have to be quick to capture those special moments.

Question Camera Settings

Hi,
Does anyone know what the different 'picture quality' settings in the camera app mean? There are 3 settings, low, standard and high. What do these actually do, and is there one that you prefer? A separate setting exists that says Enhance Image Quality. Isn't that kind of redundant, and should this be kept on?
In a lot of youtube video reviews for this phone, they compare the photo quality of the phone, and then they say something like, after 4-1 binning, the photo looks much better. If this is the case, what settings do I need to set on the phone to get the '4-1 binned' quality?
Cheers!
Picture quality is so obvious, I do not have numbers but it is about resolution and number of pixels. Try to take the same photo with different quality then try to zoom in photo to understand.
enhanced image quality is a nice feature that I have turned off, I like raw images than enhanced and I hate that sometimes it goes to night mode while I want to take low light photos , but it definitely is a great feature.
Not sure what is 4-1 binning and never heard of it.
My settings are the following:
HDR AUTO
AI OFF
9:16
Under camera settings:
Mode section: motion capture on, the rest are off. High quality picture.
Under preserve settings, beautify off**** was passing me off before update.
That is more than enough for me for images.
Hope it helps
