Good day everyone
i'm using my X1 since about 2 weeks.
I recently did notice that after waking my phone up the "scrolling down action" is performed...so the optical joystick thinks i'm moving downwards but in fact i'm not even touching it...it not only happens after waking it up, but also when i want to scroll upwards it happens often that it's sliding downwards again when i release the touchy surface...
cleaning of the touchy surface didn't help...aswell as adjusting the sensitivity of the optical joystick...
does anyone else have that problem...or anyone out there having an idea how to fix?
mine dont have that problem at all and if hardreset dont change it i would
write it off as a hardware malfunction
Some solution?
The does same thing happen to me?
I had this problem before too. Somehow, while i was at school, i must have shaken it a lot or something, because i had P.E. that day. When i got home after i had p.e., the joystick scrolling problem stopped. I had the X1 in my pocket the whole day, so i guess when i was running in P.E., something must have shaken and the problem is now fixed.
This has happened to me only once, while browsing. It fixed itself after a soft reset. Very weird.
Solution!!!
Mine had a very similar problem. It was making calls alone once something just touched the joystick's surface. I took it to a repairing center (with a little hope once i read above comments). However they repair it, well, at least the joystick is working on its scroll funtion but when I press it nothing happends. They told me that it was repaired by just cleaningl, with paint thinner and a gum eraser, the part that is marked inside of the red circle in the image below.

Mine's got that problem too.. It was so annoying that I disabled the optical joystick thingy... Don't need it anyway
Im glad i dont use that optical thingy. Its annoying when you want to press center button on D-pad but then accidentally scrolls up or down.
Sorry for poping in this post again after er.. i think this is like a year old post. I just had this problem last month.. or maybe months. I been ignoring it for some time now but well it is getting annoying (It always make the speaker go louder for some odd reason by scrolling up or while searching for a contact it scrolls up). I have never used the d-pad and thought of disabling it but not sure how too.
No more warranty as I bought it for some time already (They said so), I send it back to the shop and they wanted to charge me MYR200 to change the ribbon. After thinking a while that d-pad only cost like $7.99USD which is MYR25.10 from cnn.cn website.
Do they mean the slider flex cable which cost MYR147.619 (After converted)?
Does that has any relation with my D-pad getting stuck at the up button?

Hi All,
I've got a problem with my TyTn II (I've got it in 2007). 4 days ago my Kaiser acted funny. I started to hear sound like pressing of the calling button. Then the phone started to lock itself Since then I've lost the function of all the answer/reject, softkeys, start, IE, messaging and ok button. At this point I can't do a hardware hard reset since it requires both softkey function. After around 12 hours I began to regain the function of those keys, didn't do anything but the problem persist after around 6 hours or so.
Now I've done a hard reset a few times. Even though it was freshly hard reset the problem still persist. Is it a virus or hardware malfunction?
Thanks
Well it's definatly not a virus... There has only been about 3 recognized WM virus's that do not translate to the same as we expect being computer users, also if you think of a hard-reset to be the same as doing a format reinstall on a computer then it would eradicate the virus.
Start\Settings\Clear Storage 1234 will perform a hard-reset without the need to use hardware buttons.
Try that.
Sounds like a hardware issue....
Try flash stock ROM again also.
LOL he said short circuit or a virus, BWAHAHAHAHAHA

Hmmm...go to MikeChannon's hardware page http://www.mikechannon.net/page1.html and find the link for the Kaiser, TyTN II, Tilt yada yada. Get that d-pad out and clean it all up.
These things are really not that hard to "disassemble, Stephanie" (Nice one Chumley!)
A tiny phillips and two tiny sizes of Torx®...with maybe a tiny flathead for some gentle prying, I used my fingernails!...along with some patience is really all you need.
I offer one more tip...MAGNIFICATION! Use it, even if you CAN see already...
If you still have a problem after that, well...then you may actually have a problem.
No fear, deflower that thing. Just a thought. Okay bye...

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the input. I've done the clear storage. Now my TyTn II is working like a charm. However the thing that was interesting was.. after doing the hard reset and reinstalling several software + reinstalling SKtools, my TyTn II went haywire again.. but after hard resetting again without reinstalling SKtools my PDA is fine now. I've been using it without any problem for couple of days now. When I trace back, the problem really began after I installed SKtools from a cab file. Could it be that the cab file is not good so it affected my TyTn II?
Hi! Some weeks ago my kaiser stop playing sounds like music and the ringtones.I dont know if it happened when i dropped it on the floor... So i opened my kaiser (bought on ebay and has no warranty) to see if there was something changed. The speaker looks well but i bought a new one from ebay (received it broken ). I just opened it a little but i saw something that i dont know if is right and i would like you to tell me. I dont know if it's a little battery but it looks like it's covered with a strange substance. Now is it supposed to be there or could it be caused by huminity for instance?
Here are some pics:

Hi. It Is "golden cap" which is back up source. The P/N is in the service manual. The replacement part could be found on digikey...The substance sould not be there. Cheers!
you should replace that battery, its fully corroded, which may lead to rust in your kaiser... take it out and wait for the new one to arrive!
Yup that's one leaky battery. You'll need to replace that and clean up the contacts extremely carefully, being careful not to get acid on yourself or anything else.
use of golden capacitor
Hi
I face some trouble with my Kaiser (sometimes don't charge battery, sometimes reboot...)
Since it did not charge battery at all, I opened it and remouted it : it work properly again.. then it started not working again
I'm asking myself : if this capacitor is old (about 3 years) what could be the symptoms of its failure ?
Thank you for your help
Yes, Good question!!
My kaiser stopped charging. The PC would recognise it and it would (usually) boot fine but would not charge. I found another one that i bought cheap.
I had the other one laying around and thought i'd have a play with it.
I tried:
--Other USB cables.
--Other chargers.
--Other battries.
--Charging with an external battery charger.
Turns out that it all works fine but the phone will not work as a charger. I read somewhere that the fuse may have blown that is why the PC still recognises it. However, i'm not sure i can rule out the golden cap. Anyone changed a fuse? anyone had the same problem and a change of the golden cap solved it?
There is not much chatter about these problems either. I may start a new thread...
Hi
I guessed that my problem came form the internal battery connector.
I soldered directly a battery on the connector, and the battery charged OK.
But this fix seems more to be a "lucky strike" then a real patch to the problem.
Tell me if you open a new thread about golden cap.
I have a guess why the phone stopped playing music: I think the slot of the volume button is loose. On your first picture next to the main battery pins there is a small slot into which the volume control connects. When you put it back, make sure it is well pushed into the slot, I had this problem previously.
Hello,
Recently I sent my nexus one for a button replacement. I got the phone back with some strange symptoms:
- Flash light blink at random event (first boot, after I hang up a call, etc..) but cannot be controlled by software (torch and camera app in CM7, MIUI or the stock firmware). The camera however works fine.
- The ambient sensor is dead. It either reports a very high value (2600 or 5800) or a very low one (10) (these values were taken from the CM7 auto brightness adjustment settings)
- Mic from the headphone when I plug in does not work anymore (the mic works before and tested to be in working condition)
From some online research, it seems like a loose connector can cause the wonky flash light problem (report by fblodroid, he fixed it by plug the connector back)
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=46ef1e3a49030ed9&hl=en
My question is: can the other two problems be related to this connectors as well? Or did I get a defective board?
I plan to fix it once the tools arrives (dealextreme takes forever!). Another option is to bring it back to the service center to get fixed (this will take a week, and who knows what kind of fees on top of that). I'd prefer to fix it if I can.
Anyone has some knowledge about this kind of issue? Any idea what do those connectors do?

Dude, if your N1 is on warranty I wouldn't even bother to think what is causing this problems Send it back. You'd have o wait some time but you will still have your warranty for the future, and if you disassemble it you will probably loose it (not mentioning that your problem could be unfixable!).
They screwed up and they should fix it for free. I hate when electronics come back in worse condition after repair than before...
Well, it's out of warranty. But I think I have 3 months part warranty from the last repair.
They didn't put any seal on the screws this time. Maybe you're right, it's smarter to just send it back to get everything resolved.
I'm just curious whether all the problem described above can be attributed to the board they replaced (or one or two loose connectors).

I didn't know about the warranty, BUT: They spoiled your phone while fixing button so as a consumer you have right to demand that they fix it free of charge! Maybe it's something like silicon defect or "cold solder" (don't now if it's correct name. Google-Translated it) on the main board. They should have tried it before sending it to you.
Wish your N1 will get better soon
I got this phone the other day, It's just got snow all over the screen (it's out of warranty) so I opened the cover, pulled off all connectors and re-seated them (didn't remove any boards, just what was accessible once the back covers were off.
I am new to Android but, this model I have replaced 2 Displays on (not this phone), seems I get one for cheap with a broken display, I fix it and someone offers me more than triple what I paid for, so I keep selling them :-/ (a man cant turn down a big profit). So I know how to pull this phone apart and replace parts if needed. I was looking to give Android a solid shot here (I am a Windows Phone person now)and not sell this one...
Not sure if the display is toast or this is just a Bricked or something else.
Note:
-If I connect to a PC, it connects fine
-When the phone is on, If I touch the lower of the screen, I hear clicking
-Double click on the center of the screen wakes up the display.
-Verzion software tool does not detect the phone (even though a drive is mapped for it)
Also to know, I have never rooted a Android device, so no idea on how to tell if it's rooted or not from the file system. Yea, when it comes to Android devices, I am a NooB.
Any idea ?
Thanks in advance !
Ok, Still trying to trouble shoot this, figuring it was a Brick or something with a lot of effort (The touch screen seems to work but, power off was a guessing game where to push to get it into bootloader mode).
I tried to go back to Stock with it, following these directions...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960
Now during the process, every once an a while, on the top of the screen, I can see about 1/2 of the ICONs, it's static so it does not update but, it's the most I have seen off this display.
After showing Successful, it's still doing the same thing. accept a hair of it, static across the top of the screen.
So, does this lead down to a hardware based issue (if so, what part should be replaced), or is this display damaged and needs a replacement ?
Has anyone gone through this and can help ?
Edit, Picked up the one of the cables for the phone that the video, power, headphones all plug into, as all my problems are resulting in something that plugs into this cable, figured I would give it a shot, The only things that are left are the Main board, or the display itself.
Maybe this will fix it ?

Does anyone have any input that might help me here ? Will this part fix it, or is this phone screwed completely ?
Hey guys,
I am back to the real OG forums of Android after spending a few good years with iOS devices. Ngl, missed this place a lot!
So I have been using a Pixel 4a (5G) for 2-3 weeks now, and everything was perfect until the May security update 2 days ago. Although, previously, there were a couple of touch screen issues observed by many anyway, a friend too who uses the same phone, same variant g025-e and we used to observe extremely **** typing experience while charging our phones, until this update, literally destroyed the whole experience for me specifically, and not my friend.
This update was about 16.9 mb and on the night of 1st of May, I put my phone to update and slept, within hours it was released. The next morning my frustration begins. There is a part of my screen, specifically between the app dock and home screen separator that doesn't work anymore. There is absolutely no damage to the phone, neither have I dropped it or anything. The whole "asd" row on my qwerty keyboard barely works. Tapping the letters on that row a million times might register a touch magically, but you get my point, its just extremely frustrating.
Furious, I immediately took it to Pixel Community (Pixel Community Post here) and I haven't received a reply there yet. I took it to Reddit (Reddit post here), and there isn't any help either.
I have run a couple of tests on my phone testing my screen, and to my surprise multi-touch isn't working either (I can't zoom into photos, can't use maps or anything for that matter) and my phone only detects one finger. Attaching screenshots below where you can see touch break (there is no point of posting multi-touch test here, it can only show its detecting 1 finger, and that also breaks in the area shown below):

}
As last resort, I have also tried removing my screen protector, playing with the screen-protector mode in the display settings but in vain.
Now I am thinking something definitely went wrong while my phone installed the update, and thinking of a full fresh flash of the Software after unlocking the bootloader. Please suggest what to do. Hoping for positive replies. I am not doubting the hardware because my phone just stopped working right after the update, even though the new update suited my friend's phone just fine.

Oh damn I'm sorry its that much for you mate. Did it happen after the update or just randomly?
the day I updated the phone, the touch screen started to not answer again on the top and then the problem is repeated gradually on the rest of the screen. I just made a factory rest, the touch screen no longer works, I will change the screen .
