No zoom... but i used/tested beetagg.com (URL i think...)
I can only say.. man, you will need a realy camera to use QR ... :| often i need to have it very close to let it be recognized!
More data more complex QR image. Less data les complex QR image, meaning better readable for your x1. But.. again.. what is the use of a QR image instead of a simple short url? Ah well....

thx for the link, but this reader also sucks, can not auto focus and the result is very bad...
sometimes you see these qr codes in the city and would like to know whats behind this code, but it simply does not really work as it should...

found one, here:
http://www.upc.fi/en/upcode/
works with the x1

I use this:

After closing the programm the camera lens continues to (auto)focus. No Camera App is running. You just hear the clicking sound from the camera. I'm very afraid that it will cause damage to the camera. Seems that the X1 is NOT supported yet.
Any soulutions?
And on the official site the cab is called HTC-Diamond-v3.6r3660.fnf.CAB .

doesnt' happen to me.
don't know about the name diff, I download it from the official site two weeks ago, maybe they updated it.

When the auto focus is working, the camera is "clicking" and tries to focus the object you want to scan.
The problem mentioned in the post above only occurs after closing the QuickMark Reader.
What sounds does your camera make when it is focusing the code in the reader?

Try this. It works for me either from paper or TV.

can you please post in the correct section!

how to change to landscape mode?

The phone can change to landscape mode in browser and photo viewer when i rotate it. But i don't know how to change it in other application, any ideas??
I don't think you can without some other addon program.
go to settings, system, screen, and its there?
I have checked there is nothing related to screen orientation under screen setting

According to the guy at coolsmartphone, it only works in the photo and web browser apps.
He clearly said he can change it in browser and photos. His accelerometer is fine. What he wants to know is how to manually rotate the screen in apps that don't support the accelerometer.

And as i pointed out above, it doesnt work unless your in the photo browser or web browser applications.
Im pretty sure given time, just like the Nokia N95 8gb which has a built in accelerometer, someone will program an app that woudl allow you to rotate the screen no matter what application or program you are running. At the moment on my N95 8GB phone, i have a neat little program called rotateme that does that function.

The word manual is crucial here. Windows Mobile devices can have the screen rotated manually, in the settings. The accelerometer has nothing to do with that.
Wow what a mess...
Spawn12: My comment was directed at 'walshieau', not you. He suggested his accelerometer was broken.
Dark Fire: Yeah that option isn't there on the diamond. The guy one coolsmartphone tried to look for it in one of the videos. 'ngod' also can't see it. Thats why i said you'd need some third party hack/program to do it.

Wow...That's quite rare. I wonder if the relevant registry entries are still there, and working. If they are, that's good. If they aren't that's really random.

Just a guess, but maybe it freaked out their accelerometer/flor3d stuff so they just removed it. I'm sure the registry entries and API are still there to do it tho.

Yep your right, i updated mine a week ago and it does come with the rotate function built in...took them long enough to enable it lol.
ok an update, it ONLY works while you have opera browser open, and there is NO WAY to change it at the moment without an application doing it...

Yeah, I've been wondering for a while about what would happen in Opera and whatever else is affected by the accelerometer, if you had the Touch Diamond in landscape mode. Would everything rotate such that it would never be the right way up for you to read it?

yes it does, when closing Opera it reverts back...
AE Button Plus
AE button plus can do it when not in touchflo 3D . tested.
you can assign a hard button to rotate the screen.
ok i cant believe no one knows this but htc have disabled the screen rotation. has nothing to do with the g sensor. its disabled bc touchflo3d has been developed only for portrait and not landscape. other apps like the youtube app have also been designed for that. the manilla keyboard on the diamond has also been designed pretty much only for portrait. it just has a landscape qwerty layout.
its ment to be like the iphone where its portrait most of time. if you can overwrite the files within the windows folder im pretty sure u can bring it back. might be some registry too.

Autorotate screen via camera project...

so I downloaded the latest diamond album to my kaiser to try it out and I like it but I can't rotate the picture the same way I could with the htcalbum... So I looked at the help file and saw that to rotate the picture all I had to do was turn the phone.. WOAH.. but didn't work... obv. I've been doing some research and it seems possible that we could trigger the screen rotation by turning the phone. It uses the camera to figure out your position.. Now I'm not nearly good enough at this stuff to figure it out on my own, but I did find a little game that is supposed to move the snake based on the movement of the camera, this might be a good place to start, but I couldn't even get the game working.. it's called "CC snake" (attached below) Looking for some ideas, maybe ripping out the controls from the game is a place to start?
http://www.clutch-productions.com/ccsnake.cab
I can confirm that this program runs on my old SDA (wm5 smartphone)... still get an error when trying it on my tilt
Dunno if this is relevant or not but a short while ago, i saw a website where someone had used the camera on a Nokia mobile (i think the phone was a 6600) to create a wireless optical mouse. You had the screen in the palm of your hand and the two hardware buttons were left click and right click. I believe the data was sent over bluetooth. It probably uses a similar technique to work out the direction of travel as you would use to work out orientation.
I haven't been able to find the original website but i did find this
www.comp.lancs.ac.uk/~sheridaj/publications/2005/PERMIDPointingDevices.pdf
which seems to be a paper about using a mobile phone camera as a pointing device. I haven't read it through as i'm at work but it could be useful?
I seem to remember the original site having code samples. If i find it, ill post the link.
(Tried to upload the pdf but the file is too big, sorry )
Edit: I believe i found some more info
here are some more links:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yT1h_ITR0G0 - The video i found, the related videos section looks like it might have some answers.

you can control via motion - that's unquestionable. The problem with the 'mouse' concept is that the cam is right up against the table, so there's no light and hence no contrast, so, you can't lock.
if it is true though - i's cool, but in my mind, pointless. why not use a Mouse instead?

according to the guy's site, its for replacing a travel mouse or if you need a spare! pretty cool imo but i agree about the light source. Theres something not right about that video, did you check the others?

ok, here's what he says.
"Things didnt go entirely smoothly of course. The first thing everybody is probably saying is, but the camera only shows black when its flat on the mousepad! You are of course right, Light is needed. My temporary solution is to hold the phone about .6cm above the pad, letting light in the side. My camera picks up enough to see at this distance."
don't see him do that in the video, and the window which he moves on the screen stops for a couple of seconds right before the camera points at the phone. that's why i said it's bullocks. i'm no programmer, we've done a couple of games for eyeToy, so i know you need light and contrast. (that's obvious) notice in the link i posted the guys were wearing contrasting, flat t-shirts. (Blue t-shirt/yellow block etc) not sure that Monster of a camera on that Nokia can handle patternless black surface (mousepad from the video, even at 6cm).
EDIT : Ok - just noticed he sais .6cm , not 6 .
so, half a cm... .. i don't know...
anyway - i'm open minded... might as well be true.
so has anyone been able to get the game ccsnake to work on their kaiser? might be a place to start.
what about using a glow in the dark material as a mouse pad ?

Camera => Album = black (blank) screen?

I've searched and read (and read and read) but haven't found a solution to this. Maybe I've missed it. If so, please point me in the right direction.
I upgraded my new Tilt with Dutty's Diamond V1 (WM6.1) ROM. It has a new camera (v 5.04, build 29195) installed. When running, I can take pictures just fine. However, when I click on the right-pointing arrow in the lower-left corner, it's supposed to link me over to the photo album but all I get is a black screen. At this point, I can press on the "windows" button and launch Today where I can see that the album has launched and is running, but when I select it, I only see a black screen.
Is there a fix for this?
i got the same issue
your camera works fine? where are the photos saving to?
The camera works fine. I can save the pictures to either the device or the storage card - both work.
Some pix
Just so it's clear, I'm posting a couple of pictures. I used MyMobiler to capture the screens which, unfortunately, does not capture the camera image in the first frame.
The first frame shows the screen (sans what my camera was seeing). The red circle highlights the "Album" button.
When pressed, I get what you see in the second - nothing but black. The phone's not locked up, however. It's just not displaying anything. No album - nothing.
And finally, in the third screen, you see that both Camera and Album are running. Album was launched, apparently, by the screen tap in the Camera application but doesn't seem to quite get it right when launched this way.
Ideas?
so you have a black screen when using camera, but it still takes pictures, if that is the case try another radio.

its not a radio problem. i think it has something to do with a broken album link in the camera application. im looking for a solution as well, as i am having the exact same problem on my own cooked rom

No. I don't have a black screen when using the camera. I see things just fine when using the camera. Works just like you'd expect. What you're seeing above in the first pic is an artifact of the screen capture program.
The anomalous behavior begins when trying to launch the album from inside the camera application. That's when the screen goes black.
My initial thinking was as mbarvian has floated - a bad link or some bad parameter passed from inside the camera app. I was hoping that this could be fixed with a registry edit, actually, but couldn't find a registry key that offered promise.
(BTW, I tried re-flashing the ROM but that didn't fix the problem. Just another data point to consider.)
So, nobody has a solution? Are others seeing this or just the two of us who have posted? I guess it's just something we live with until the day it's fixed?
Same problem same ROM...
when i had windows 6.0 i went on the htc website and downloaded 3 hot fixes for my phone ,then when i updated to the orange 6.1 version of win mobile i had the same problem as you ,( black screen on camera ) anyway i uninstalled the hot fixes ( they are not required on 6.1 version ) camera is now ok

Yours may be slightly different than mine. I don't really get a black screen on the camera - only when I launch the album viewer from inside the camera application.
The "same issue - same ROM" responses at least give me a measure of affirmation that there is a known unresolved issue. For now, I'll just manually launch the album from the launcher where it seems to work, and avoid using the call from the camera app.
maybe using advanced config. and making sure the photos are saving to My Pictures might help

camer w/black screen
after upgrading tilt to wm 6.1, my camera takes photos, but the screen is black, no preview, until AFTER taking the photo, then it appears briefly. is there a CAB fix for this. please help
I think it may have something to do with the version of the camera fix. I noticed the problem this weekend after updating to the ATT Official 6.1 ROM. Installed a newer version of Nadavi HTC Camera and when i went into the camera all I can see was a black screen. I'm using 5_0_4_2915 which seems to have corrected the problem for me.
where can i get this version that you tried? i am having the same problem

Barcode Multiscanner

Hi,
on Android there is an App called "Compare anywhere" it is a Barcode Multireader application.
I want an application like this on my XPERIA. Did somebody know an app.
It check in the internet for the cheapest price at ebay, amazon, etc.

hi, i am using beetagg on my x1 it works just fine for me,.. if you get any problems with this app disable realtime mode and switch to foto mode.. then i m able to use macro function of camera etc... works well for small barcodes in magazines, too then http://www.beetagg.com/
ps: was the only barcode reader which worked for me on my x1
Try also www.i-nigma.com
I realyl miss the auto-focus function but QuickMarks program is really messing up the autofocus when you exit.
Hey Glith i suggest you to try beetagg when disabling realtime mode you can use all functions of the normal x1 camera app
Try the barcorama project

Thanks.. Working pretty well. However. Do you know how to change the default focus mode of the camera? It defaults to auto but i want it to default to "point".
Okay, I have this bee crap now and it does just not work. My X1 has no 5 or fire button and in settings I find nothing to select any buttons.
In real mode, the picture is blurry (no autofocus access!) and in shot mode I can focus but nothing afterwards.
It seems this is more a personal tagger and not a barcode reader for articles. I did not find on their website what you can do with a barcode afterwards. (besides tagging your own stuff!)
So what is the procedure to make this really work on a X1?
Thanks
picture is taken with the camera button when you switch to photomode.. but you can use the big fat button under your display in the middle, too
beetagg understands most of the common barcodes

I tried this barcorama with my X1, after quitting the software the camera lens went crazy. It made a strange sound and I had to turn of the power of the phone to make it stop. Also I couldn't make the software to read barcodes.
Same problem with Quickmark barcode reader.
i-nigma didn't make the camera lens crazy but it didn't read barcodes either.
does the beetagg work with regular barcodes?? or just the ones that are shown in the video( in the site)
UPDATE : never mind...i gotta read more..
is there any update on this?
do any of the programs actually work well and do what they should?
thanks
QuickMark works fine... and there are many more out there.

Can we seriously still not rotate and crop?

The Kaiser was able to crop photos and rotate them around, and I cant for the life of me stand to believe that this phone isnt capable without spb mobile shell. It wouldnt be so bad if the camera didnt store the photos upside down and sideways , no matter which way you hold the phone.
I have G sensor disabled for camera in G-config and can hold camera straight up and down and the pic store upside down one shot, and right side up the next. same problem if held horizontally. and take a pic. its becoming quite aggrivating lol. If I have missed something somewhere please flame me in the right dir .Thanks
I was a bit disappointed I couldn't find a decent app for this. As far as I know, cropping is limited to looking at a picture in Album, zooming to whaty you want then hitting menu and save screen, which will save what you see on your screen. Haven't seen any rotation or anything of the like anywhere. Perhaps whatever app you used before could be found or packaged as a cab and someone could provide that?

you can rotate and crop with the regular pictures and videos app
The tool you want to use for editing your photos is \Windows\pimg.exe (even most "cooks" don't remove this...I think it's the system's image rendering tool).
if you're like me and you really hate the reduced functionality of the Album app, just edit the file associations with Schap's Advanced Config, so they all open pimg instead of album.
